Abstract

International audience; Cs-Pt/MCM-41 catalysts with basic character have been prepared by selective adsorption of Pt(NH3)4(OH)2 at pH = 8 on pure silica MCM-41 followed by incipient-wetness impregnation of CsNO3, then oxidation and reduction. The influence of the amount of Cs (0, 2 and 4 wt%) on the size of the reduced Pt particles and on their catalytic behavior in the conversion of n-hexane has been investigated. Whatever the Pt content (0.7 or 2.0 wt% Pt), the addition of Cs results in a higher Pt dispersion, a higher initial activity and a higher selectivity for aromatization. On the more basic Pt-richest MCM-41 sample (4 wt% Cs, 2 wt% Pt) the selectivity to benzene reaches values close to those obtained on Cs-enriched Pt/Cs-BEA zeolite. However, the catalytic stability is lower. The catalytic trends are discussed in view of the physicochemical properties of the solids determined by chemical analysis, N2 physisorption, XRD and TEM before and after catalytic test.

21. Physico-chemical features and catalytic properties of V-MCF materials obtained by direct synthesis

Abstract

The samples directly synthesized exhibited higher specific surface areas (up to 820 m2g-1 for V-SBA-15 and 925 m2g-1 for V-MCF) as compared to impregnated ones. Raman spectroscopy of V-SBA-15 and V-MCF showed V=O stretching modes of isolated V species in tetrahedral coordination (ca. 1035 cm-1), whereas typical bands of polymeric VOx and micro-crystalline V2O5 were observed with both V-SBA-15-i and V-MCF-i samples. Likewise, TEM images revealed the presence of V-based clusters only at the surface of impregnated samples. IR spectroscopy showed that more abundant and acidic sites were obtained by impregnation. Better catalytic performances in both selective and total oxidation reactions were achieved with V-SBA-15 and V-MCF as compared to impregnated ones, as consequence of a better V dispersion. Interestingly, higher selectivity to propene (ODH of propane, Figure 1A) was obtained over V-MCF as compared to V-SBA-15, whereas better dichloromethane conversions (Figure 1B) were achieved with V-SBA-15 instead of V-MCF (a similar trend was observed with impregnated samples). This behaviour is assigned to the different porous network of the two systems. SBA-15 has monodimensional mesopores that may favour longer residence times of molecules, unlike the 3-D ultra-large pores of MCF and therefore deeper oxidations occur in SBA-15 systems. On the other hand, a non-porous sample (V-SiO2), with V species well dispersed and incorporated into the silica framework, exhibited lower activity than mesoporous samples, confirming the important role of mesoporosity in oxidation reactions.

Abstract

The methoxylation of a-pinene was studied over sulfonic acid-functionalized mesoporous silica (MCM-41, PMO) at 60ºC. The support functionalization was achieved by the introduction of 3-(mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane onto the surface of these materials either by grafting or by co-condensation. The thiol groups were oxidized to SO3H by treatment with H2O2. All the catalysts were active in the studied reaction being the PMO-SO3H-g the best one. Good values of selectivity to a-terpinyl methyl ether were obtained with these catalysts. Catalytic stability of the PMO-SO3H-g was evaluated by performing consecutive batch runs with the same catalyst sample. After the third batch it was observed a stabilisation of the activity.

Abstract

A study was started aiming at assessing the pedogenic potential of zeolitized tuffs as possible substrates to soil formation, especially for soil rebuilding in degraded lands. This paper deals with Ca, Al, Mg and Fe distribution in leachates obtained by a sequence of experimental weathering cycles of Campanian Ignimbrite (yellow facies) by water (W) and Na-humate (Na-Hu). The cation amounts were Al>Ca>Mg>Fe in W and Ca>Al>Mg>Fe in Na-Hu extracts, the latter being more efficient. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

This paper deals with the surface and porosity properties of organo-zeolite aggregates formed by Neapolitan Yellow Tuff (N), tannic acid (T), and Ca2+ bridging ion, with different T/N ratios. T acted as a molecular plug. dramatically decreasing both the surface area and the micropore volume. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
