Hardness is a key mechanical property of flooring materials. In this study, the performance of veneer floorings (with a top layer thickness of 0.6 mm) was investigated by dynamic hardness tests, comparing it with those of traditional engineered wood floorings (with a top layer thickness of 3 mm) and solid wood floorings. Two hardwoods commonly used on wood flooring, viz. Quercus robur L. and Hymenaea courbaril L., and two fast-growing hardwoods, Eucalyptus globulus Labill. and Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden, were tested as top layers. To compare their usage properties, a dynamic impact hardness test involving steel balls with three diameters and five different drop heights was carried out, measuring the footprint diameter (FD) and the indentation depth (ID). The data from 4800 impacts, corresponding to 180 different individual groups (4 hardwood species 3 ball diameters 5 drop heights 3 floor types) were analyzed. The results showed that the general response in terms of both FD and ID was better in the engineered wood floorings than in solid wood floorings, and that the veneer floorings (0.6 mm) showed better behavior than traditional engineered wood floorings (3.0 mm). Furthermore, for the veneer floorings, the two fast-growing hardwood species tested, which have significantly different densities, showed similar behavior to traditional hardwoods, suggesting that they would be suitable for valorization in the wood flooring industry.

Resumen: La educación constituye un área de preponderancia en nuestro país, en ese contexto, el estudio del movimiento escolar de una ciudad es primordial por la información que puede ser generada a partir del mismo, incidiendo positivamente en la toma de decisiones sobre las prioridades en cada distrito. En este contexto, se consideró los registros de los estudiantes de dos niveles de instrucción, el tercer ciclo y la educación media en un período de 10 años (2008 - 2017) utilizando los datos pertenecientes al Ministerio de Educación y Ciencias, Paraguay. El objetivo de esta investigación consistió en determinar el número de matriculados y egresados en las instituciones de enseñanza básica y media en el municipio de Capiatá analizando un total de 1012 instituciones del sector oficial, 236 instituciones privadas y 133 instituciones privadas subvencionadas. Se encontró que en este período de tiempo fueron matriculados en el tercer ciclo de la educación escolar básica 113553 estudiantes y 88758 estudiantes en la educación media. En lo concerniente al número de egresados, 28807 correspondió al tercer ciclo y 20442 estudiantes egresados en la educación media. Se constató que existe diferencia estadísticamente significativa (p < 0,05) entre el número de matriculados y número de egresados según del nivel de instrucción en el municipio de Capiatá. Abstract: The study of the school movement of a city is important, because it affects decision-making about priorities in each district and education constitutes an area of preponderance at the country level. In this context, the records of students of two levels of instruction in the third cycle and secondary education in a period of 10 years (2008 - 2017) using data belonging to the Ministry of Education and Science, Paraguay, were considered. The objective of this research was to determine the number of enrolled and graduates in the institutions of basic and secondary education in the municipality of Capiatá analyzing a total of 1012 institutions of the official sector, 236 private institutions and 133 subsidized private institutions. It was found that in this period of time 113553 students and 88758 students in secondary education were enrolled in the city in the third cycle of basic education, there were also 28807 graduates in the third cycle and 20442 students graduated in education half. It was found that there is a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) between the number of enrolled students and the number of graduates according to the level of education in the municipality of Capiatá.

The efficiency of visual grading standards applied to structural timber is often inappropriate, and timber properties are either under or over-graded. Although not included in the current UNE 56544 visual grading standard, machine learning algorithms represent a promising alternative to grade structural timber. The general aim of this research was to compare the performance of machine learning algorithms based on visual defects, non-destructive techniques and sawing systems (“cut type”) with UNE 56544:1997 visual grading in order to predict the qualifying efficiency of Populus x euramericana I-214 structural timber. Visual evaluation, ultrasound and vibrational non-destructive testing, and sawing systems register (radial, tangential and mixed) were applied to characterize 945 beams. In addition, in order to retrieve actual physical-mechanical values, density and static bending destructive testing (EN-408:2011 + A1:2012) was also carried out. Several machine learning algorithms were then used to grade the beams, and their predictive accuracy was compared with that of visual grading. To do so, three scenarios were considered: a first scenario in which only visual variables were used; a second scenario in which “cut type” variables were also included; and a third scenario in which additional non-destructive variables were considered. Results showed a poor level of performance of UNE 56544:1997, with an apparent mismatch between the strength values assigned for each visual grade (established by the EN 338 standard) and the actual values. El presente estudio científico-tecnológico muestra el desarrollo de un nuevo método no destructivo de estimación de la densidad in situ de piezas de madera y su comparación con métodos actuales. El dispositivo desarrollado (“Extractor de virutas”) permite extraer y almacenar las virutas resultantes del taladrado para posteriormente estimar la densidad de la madera, su humedad y detectar daños de origen biótico. El estudio recoge el proceso de evolución y optimización del dispositivo y los ensayos realizados en probetas de 10 especies de madera utilizadas en construcción. El nuevo dispositivo y método de estimación de la densidad local ha demostrado su utilidad y conveniencia, ya que permite además, estimar la humedad de la pieza ensayada (R2 = 0,86), así como la densidad corregida al 12% H (R2 = 0,99) y detectar e identificar patologías de origen biótico.

Se diseñó una estrategia de aprendizaje activo que integra la curricula del plan de estudios de Ingeniería en Acuicultura de la Universidad del Mar en México. Dicha estrategia consiste en que los estudiantes desarrollen un programa en MATLAB® que les permita balancear ecuaciones químicas mediante el método algebraico. Los resultados más importantes de esta investigación son que el grado de aprendizaje de los alumnos respecto a los conceptos básicos en el balanceo de ecuaciones químicas fue de medio a alto; y que el promedio de desarrollo de las capacidades que requerirán los alumnos en el mundo laboral fue de bajo a medio. También se identificó que los alumnos aumentaron su creatividad respecto a la solución de problemas complejos. El porcentaje de alumnos acreditados para el ciclo 2013 es del 100% y 83.33% en las asignaturas de computación y química general respectivamente. An active learning strategy that integrates the curriculum of aquaculture engineering at Del Mar University in Mexico was designed. Such strategy implies that the students develop MATLAB® codes to compute stoichiometric coefficients and balance chemical equations by algebraic methods. The most significant results of this research are that the degree of learning about the fundamentals of balancing chemical equations was from average to high; and average development of the capacities that the student will need in their future work, was from low to average. It was also identified that students increased their creativity regarding troubleshooting. The percentage of students certified for cycle 2013 is 100% and 83.33% in the subjects of computing and general chemistry respectively.

El antiguo Aula Emiliano Aguirre o Museo de Emiliano Aguirre es un edificio que se está quedado en desuso ya que solo se utiliza como archivo municipal provisional. Se encuentra en Ibeas de Juarros, la población más cercana a los yacimientos arqueológicos de Atapuerca. Este edifico se utilizó como lugar de exposición de los fósiles encontrados en los yacimientos de 1993 hasta la creación del actual museo de la evolución. Por esta cesión provisional del edifico y por la vivencia en el pueblo, Emiliano Aguirre dejo sus lejagos como legado a Ibeas de Juarros. En este trabajo se pretende dar una puesta en valor al edificio mediante el análisis e investigación de su historia. En base estos conocimientos se evaluará el estado del edificio y se realizará una propuesta de intervención sobre este y un posible uso., The old Aula Emiliano Aguirre or Museum of Emiliano Aguirre is a building that is no longer in use since it is only used as a provisional municipal archive. Due to this provisional transfer of the building and because of the experience in the town, Emiliano Aguirre left his legacy as a legacy to Ibeas de Juarros. This work aims to give a value to the building through the analysis and investigation of its history. Este trabajo de fin de grado se centra en obtener la densidad de la madera puesta en obra mediante varios tipos de ensayos pseudo-no destructivos, concretamente cuatro: el penetrómetro, el arranque de tornillos, el extractor de virutas y el resistógrafo, utilizados habitualmente por el Grupo de Investigación en Estructuras y Tecnología de la Madera de la Universidad de Valladolid para la estimación de la densidad de la madera y de esta manera poder ser utilizado en inspecciones técnicas de edificios patrimoniales. El objetivo principal es hallar los modelos de regresión propios de cada uno de ellos, y compararlos entre sí, con el método normalizado de obtención de la densidad, para conocer su nivel de fiabilidad. Para ello, se realizaron ensayos en probetas de seis especies diferentes de madera: paulownia, chopo, pino radiata, pino silvestre, roble y elondo. Todas ellas de densidades variadas, para comprobar cómo se comportan los equipos frente a cada una de ellas. Como conclusión principal se obtuvo que existe una relación estadísticamente significativa entre los valores estimados mediante los diferentes ensayos pseudo-no destructivos y la densidad real de las piezas de madera., Grado en Fundamentos de la Arquitectura
