SAR/GMTI has become a very important application for civilian and military. Moving parameter estimation of the target is a crucial issue in GMTI processing. In this paper a new moving target parameter estimation algorithm based on contrast optimization criterion is proposed. Based on the contrast optimization criterion the peak magnitude of the contrast function corresponds to the best estimation of the target's velocity components. By two-dimensional searching, we can get the along-track and cross-track velocity of the target respectively. The proposed moving target parameter estimation method is analyzed in detail. At the end of the paper, simulation results illustrate that the algorithm can enhance the estimation accuracy obviously.
