Optical camera communication (OCC) system employs a camera as the receiver to capture the visible light signal emitted from an LED light lamp. The OCC system has been one of the most potential branches of the visible light communication (VLC) system, and has drawn much attentions from both the academic and industrial world. An adaptive framing method is proposed in this paper to achieve two main benefits: 1) solving the data loss and synchronization problems in the OCC system, and 2) capturing a reliable OCC data link in the daily use scene. The OCC data link throughput performance is analyzed in detail by considering the influence of the effective bit number extracted in a captured picture, as well as the camera’s vibration and rotation effects. The optimized framing parameters are also calculated to maximize the data link throughput, and the simulated results further prove effectiveness of the theoretical analysis.
