2. Research on Ecological Land Expansion: A Case Study of Haixing County of China

As China’s natural resource governance has turned to high-quality management, establishing reasonable and ecological land-use patterns is an effective means of promoting natural resource utilization and improving the quality of the ecological environment. Therefore, this study used ecological land as the expansion source to construct an ecological land-use pattern with the minimum cumulative resistance model in Haixing County, China, based on regional food security, ecological security, and construction land expansion patterns. This work also involved designing ecological corridors, radiation channels, strategic nodes, and other ecological components. The results demonstrate that (1) the ecological land source is 7976.93 hm2, accounting for 9.19% of the total area. It is mainly distributed in the southeast of the county, mainly in the river system and woodland; (2) the food security situation of Haixing County can be divided into four zones, most of which are agricultural adjustment areas, indicating that the ecological security of cultivated land in this area needs to be improved; (3) the ecological security level of Haixing County is divided into four areas, and the ideal safety zone accounts for the smallest area, indicating that the regional ecological situation is very unstable; (4) construction land expansion zone is divided into four parts. A suitable construction zone occupies the largest area and is mainly distributed around the current construction land; (5) the expansion of the ecological land-use pattern of Haixing County includes four zones, 15 ecological corridors, 12 radiation channels, and 35 strategic nodes, which is conducive to optimal land allocation from an ecological security perspective. This paper puts forward some suggestions for ecological protection and intensive urban development.

5. Acute Postoperative Pain Due to Dental Extraction in the Adult Population: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-analysis

This study compares the effectiveness of pharmacological treatments to develop guidelines for the management of acute pain after tooth extraction. We searched Medline, EMBASE, CENTRAL, and US Clinical Trials registry on November 21, 2020. We included randomized clinical trials (RCTs) of participants undergoing dental extractions comparing 10 interventions, including acetaminophen, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), opioids, and combinations to placebo. After duplicate screening and data abstraction, we conducted a frequentist network meta-analysis for each outcome at 6 h (i.e., pain relief, total pain relief [TOTPAR], summed pain intensity difference [SPID], global efficacy rating, rescue analgesia, and adverse effects). We assessed the risk of bias using a modified Cochrane RoB 2.0 tool and the certainty of evidence using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation approach. We implemented the analyses in RStudio version 3.5.3 and classified interventions from most to least beneficial or harmful. We included 82 RCTs. Fifty-six RCTs enrolling 9,095 participants found moderate- and high-certainty evidence that ibuprofen 200 to 400 mg plus acetaminophen 500 to 1,000 mg (mean difference compared to placebo [MDp], 1.68; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.06–2.31), acetaminophen 650 mg plus oxycodone 10 mg (MDp, 1.19; 95% CI, 0.85–1.54), ibuprofen 400 mg (MDp, 1.31; 95% CI, 1.17–1.45), and naproxen 400–440 mg (MDp, 1.44; 95% CI, 1.07–1.80) were most effective for pain relief on a 0 to 4 scale. Oxycodone 5 mg, codeine 60 mg, and tramadol 37.5 mg plus acetaminophen 325 mg were no better than placebo. The results for TOTPAR, SPID, global efficacy rating, and rescue analgesia were similar. Based on low- and very low-certainty evidence, most interventions were classified as no more harmful than placebo for most adverse effects. Based on moderate- and high-certainty evidence, NSAIDs with or without acetaminophen result in better pain-related outcomes than opioids with or without acetaminophen (except acetaminophen 650 mg plus oxycodone 10 mg) or placebo.

10. DOP35 High-fat diet reduces gut microbiota-derived metabolite indole-acetic acid and aggravates colitis

Background It is widely accepted that high-fat diet (HFD) has been considered as one of the risk factors of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD), while the mechanism is little known. We aimed to examined whether dietary high fat promotes colonic inflammation through modulating gut microbial tryptophan metabolites. Methods The C57BL/6 female mice were fed with chow diet (12kcal% fat) or HFD (60kcal% fat) for 2 weeks. Fresh fecal samples were collected before administration of 2% DSS. LC-MS/MS analysis was performed to detect fecal microbial tryptophan metabolites. Next, 8-week-old mice were administrated 3-indoleacetic acid (IAA) for 7 days prior to 2.5% DSS treatment. The severity of colitis was assessed and the colonic sections were collected. RNA sequencing was performed to analyze the differential genes in intestinal tissue of mice fed with IAA or not. Real-time PCR and Western blotting were performed to detect the transcription and protein expression of mucin sulfation-related genes. High iron diamine-alcian blue (HID-AB) staining of colon tissues and LS174T cells was used to detect the abundance of sulfated mucin. Additionally, the Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) sequencing is performed to confirm the binding of aryl hydrocarbon receptor(AHR) to 3’-phosphoadenosine 5’-phosphosulfate (PAPS) synthase 2 (PAPSS2). Results Short-term HFD increased the susceptibility to colitis of mice. Mice fed with HFD have impaired tryptophan metabolism with remarkable lower level of IAA. IAA supplementation resulted in ameliorative colitis symptoms. Mechanistically, the transcriptome sequencing detected that IAA supplementation enriched the the cytosolic sulfonation pathway and significantly increased the expression of PAPSS2 of colon tissue, a rate-limiting enzyme on the mucin sulfation pathway. Next, in vivo and in vitro experiments verified IAA increased the expression of PAPSS2 and its downstream genes and promoted the mucin sulfation in golgi apparatus of colon through AHR. ChIP sequencing and ChIP-PCR verified IAA can enhance the binding of AHR to the promoter region of PAPSS2 , which further promoted the expression of PAPS transporter 2 (PAPST2 or Slc35b3) and ultimately promotes the mucin sulfation. Conclusion HFD altered the gut microbial tryptophan metabolites and disrupt the protective effect of IAA on the intestinal barrier. IAA could relief colitis through AHR-PAPSS2-PAPST2-mucin sulfation axis, which may present a potential approach for precise prevention and treatment of IBD.

11. The Role of Endothelial Barrier Function in the Fibrosis of Salivary Gland

In the salivary glands, fibrosis occurs in many pathological conditions. Endothelial tight junction (TJ)–based barrier function plays a vital role in maintaining the homeostasis of the salivary glands. However, whether endothelial barrier function is changed and involved in the pathogenesis of glandular fibrosis is unknown. Here, by using a mouse model in which the main excretory duct of the submandibular gland (SMG) was ligated to induce inflammation and fibrosis, endothelial barrier function and TJ protein expression and distribution were examined. Both 4-kDa and 70-kDa fluorescence-labeled dextrans permeated more in the 1-, 3-, and 7-d ligated SMGs. Meanwhile, the mRNA level of claudin-5 was increased with an obvious redistribution from apicolateral membranes to lateral membranes and cytoplasm in the fibrotic glands. Notably, the TJ sealer AT1001 significantly attenuated the disrupted endothelial barrier function and thereby ameliorated the glandular fibrosis. Cytokine array detection showed that monocyte chemoattractant protein–1 (MCP-1) was highly enriched in the 3-d ligated SMGs, and MCP-1 directly impaired barrier function, increased claudin-5 expression, induced the relocalization of claudin-5, and activated p-ERK1/2 in cultured human endothelial cells. Furthermore, the upregulation and disorganization of claudin-5 as well as the elevation of MCP-1 and p-ERK1/2 signaling were also confirmed in fibrotic SMGs from patients with chronic sialadenitis and immunoglobulin G4–related sialadenitis. Altogether, our findings revealed that disrupted endothelial barrier function contributed to the progression of glandular fibrosis, and targeting endothelial TJs might be a promising approach to alleviate salivary gland fibrosis-related diseases.

13. GABA and Glutamate response to social processing; a functional MRS study

- Abstract
Several studies have suggested that atypical social processing in multiple psychiatric conditions (e.g., autism) is associated with differences in excitation and inhibition, through changes in the levels of glutamate and GABA levels. While associations between baseline metabolite levels and behaviours can be insightful, assessing the neurometabolic response of GABA and Glutamate during social processing may inform altered neurochemical function in more depth. Thus far, there have been no attempts to determine whether changes in metabolite levels are detectable using functional magnetic resonance spectroscopy (fMRS) during social processing in a control population. We performed MEGA-PRESS edited fMRS to measure the dynamic response of GABA and glutamate in the superior temporal sulcus (STS) and visual cortex (V1) while viewing social stimuli, using a design that allows for analysis in both block and event-related approaches. Sliding window analyses were used to investigate GABA and glutamate dynamics at higher temporal resolution. A small decrease in GABA levels was observed during social stimulus presentation in V1, but no change was observed in STS. Conversely, non-social stimulus elicited changes in both GABA and glutamate levels in both regions. We discuss the feasibility of using fMRS analysis approaches to assess changes in metabolite response during social processing.

- Abstract
Using a data sample collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, the Born cross section of the process e+e−→ηJ/ψ at a center-of-mass energy s=3.773 GeV is measured to be (8.88±0.87±0.42) pb. We fit the cross section line shape before correcting for the initial state radiation from s=3.773 to 4.600 GeV to obtain the branching fraction B(ψ(3770)→ηJ/ψ). We obtain B(ψ(3770)→ηJ/ψ)=(11.3±5.9±1.1)×10−4 when the ψ(3770) decay amplitude is added coherently to the other contributions, and (8.7±1.0±0.8)×10−4 when it is added incoherently. Here the quoted uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. In both cases, the statistical significance of ψ(3770) resonance is above 7σ. During the late Miocene and the Pliocene, changes in the Central American and Indonesian seaway geometry are very important for ocean circulation and global climate. Various modelling studies have examined the separate effects of these two tropical seaways, especially their link to the onset of the Northern Hemisphere ice sheets through changes in the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation and associated heat and moisture transport. Although the existence of dual tropical seaways is closer to reality, there are very scarce modelling studies exploring the co-effects of dual tropical seaway changes, especially on the Pacific ocean circulation. Here we provide the results of a modelling study on this issue. Our results show that the combined shallow opening of tropical seaways can generate an active Pacific meridional overturning circulation (that is absent in modern conditions) by which the meridional and zonal sea surface temperature gradient in the Pacific largely reduce. In contrast, a deeper opening of tropical seaways cannot produce these changes in the Pacific ocean circulation. This study provides insights into and a better understanding of the role of tropical seaways in shaping the Pacific climate and highlights the importance of the sill depth of each seaway.

16. Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate improves antioxidant capacity of calf intestinal epithelial cells exposed to heat stress in vitro

Dairy calves are highly susceptible to the negative effects of heat stress, which can cause organ hypoxia after blood redistribution, damage the intestinal barrier, and trigger intestinal oxidative stress. This study aimed to investigate the antioxidant effects of monoammonium glycyrrhizinate (MAG) on calf small intestinal epithelial cells under heat stress in vitro. Small intestinal epithelial cells were isolated from a 1-day-old healthy calf and purified by differential enzymatic detachment. The purified cells were divided into seven groups. The control group was cultured with DMEM/F-12 at 37℃ for 6 h, and the treatment groups were cultured with 0, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, 1, or 5 μg/mL MAG at 42℃ for 6 h. Heat stress causes oxidative damage to cells. Adding MAG in the medium can significantly improve cell activity and reduce cellular oxidative stress. Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate significantly increased the total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity caused by heat stress, and significantly decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) and nitric oxide (NO) levels. The MAG treatment also reduced lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release, increased mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), and decreased apoptosis under heat stress. MAG also upregulated the expression of the antioxidant-related genes, Nrf2 and GSTT1, in heat-stressed intestinal epithelial cells and significantly downregulated the expression of the heat shock response-related proteins, MAPK, HSP70, HSP90, and HSP27. From the above results, we conclude that 0.25 μg/mL MAG improves the capability of the antioxidant system in small intestinal epithelial cells to eliminate reactive oxygen species by activating antioxidant pathways, improving the oxidant/antioxidant balance, lowering excessive heat shock responses, and reducing intestinal oxidative stress.

Background Individuals on the autism spectrum have been long described to process sensory information differently than neurotypical individuals. While much effort has been leveraged towards characterizing and investigating the neurobiology underlying the sensory differences of autism, there has been a notable lack of consistency in the terms being used to describe the nature of those differences. Main body We argue that inconsistent and interchangeable terminology-use when describing the sensory differences of autism has become problematic beyond mere pedantry and inconvenience. We begin by highlighting popular terms that are currently being used to describe the sensory differences of autism (e.g. “sensitivity”, “reactivity” and “responsivity”) and discuss why poor nomenclature may hamper efforts towards understanding the aetiology of sensory differences in autism. We then provide a solution to poor terminology-use by proposing a hierarchical taxonomy for describing and referring to various sensory features. Conclusion Inconsistent terminology-use when describing the sensory features of autism has stifled discussion and scientific understanding of the sensory differences of autism. The hierarchical taxonomy proposed was developed to help resolve lack of clarity when discussing the sensory differences of autism and to place future research targets at appropriate levels of analysis.

Apelin and GDF-15 have been proposed as biomarkers of age-related sarcopenia but evidence in human models is scarce. This study aimed to explore the associations between blood apelin and GDF-15 with sarcopenia incidence and the evolution of sarcopenia components over two years in older adults70 years.Secondary longitudinal analysis of the Multidomain Alzheimer Preventive Trial.Older adults (70 years) attending primary care centers in France and Monaco.Community.Serum Apelin (pg/mL) and plasma GDF-15 (pg/mL) were measured. Outcomes included sarcopenia defined by the European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People (EWGSOP) and its determinants (appendicular lean mass [ALM] evaluated through a Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) scan, handgrip strength (HGS) and the 4-meter gait speed) measured over 2 years. Linear mixed models and logistic regression were used to explore the longitudinal associations.We included 168 subjects from MAPT (median age=76y, IQR=73-79; 78% women). Serum apelin was not significantly associated with sarcopenia incidence (OR=1.001;95%CI=1.000,1.001;p-value0.05 in full-adjusted models) nor with ALM (β=-5.8E-05;95%CI=-1.0E-04,2.12E-04;p0.05), HGS (β=-1.1E-04;95%CI=-5.0E-04,2.8E-04;p0.05), and GS (β=-5.1E-06;95%CI=-1.0E-05,2.0E-05;p0.05) in fully adjusted models. Similarly, plasma GDF-15 was not associated with both the incidence of sarcopenia (OR=1.001,95%CI=1.000,1.002,p0.05) and the evolution of its determinants ([ALM, β=2.1E-05;95%CI=-2.6E-04,3.03E-04;p0.05], HGS [β=-5.9E-04;95%CI=-1.26E-03,8.1E-05; p0.05] nor GS [β=-2.6E-06;95%CI=-3.0E-05, 2.3E-05;p0.05]) in fully adjusted models.Blood apelin and GDF-15 were not associated with sarcopenia incidence or with the evolution of sarcopenia components over a 2-year follow-up in community-dwelling older adults. Well-powered longitudinal studies are needed to confirm or refute our findings.

Ganodermataceae is one of the main families of macrofungi since species in the family are both ecologically and economically important. The double-walled basidiospores with ornamented endospore walls are the characteristic features of Ganodermataceae. It is a large and complex family; although many studies have focused on Ganodermataceae, the global diversity, geographic distribution, taxonomy and molecular phylogeny of Ganodermataceae still remained incompletely understood. In this work, taxonomic and phylogenetic studies on worldwide species of Ganodermataceae were carried out by morphological examination and molecular phylogenetic analyses inferred from six gene loci including the internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS), the large subunit of nuclear ribosomal RNA gene (nLSU), the second largest subunit of RNA polymerase II gene (rpb2), the translation elongation factor 1-αgene (tef1), the small subunit mitochondrial rRNA gene (mtSSU) and the small subunit nuclear ribosomal RNA gene (nSSU). A total of 1 382 sequences were used in the phylogenetic analyses, of which 817 were newly generated, including 132 sequences of ITS, 139 sequences of nLSU, 83 sequences of rpb2, 124 sequences of tef1, 150 sequences of mtSSU and 189 sequences of nSSU. The combined six-gene dataset included sequences from 391 specimens representing 146 taxa from Ganodermataceae. Based on morphological and phylogenetic analyses, 14 genera were confirmed in Ganodermataceae: Amauroderma, Amaurodermellus, Cristataspora, Foraminispora, Furtadoella, Ganoderma, Haddowia, Humphreya, Magoderna, Neoganoderma, Sanguinoderma, Sinoganoderma, Tomophagus and Trachydermella. Among these genera, Neoganoderma gen. nov. is proposed for Ganoderma neurosporum; Sinoganoderma gen. nov. is proposed for Ganoderma shandongense; Furtadoella gen. nov. is proposed to include taxa previously belonging to Furtadoa since Furtadoa is a homonym of a plant genus in the Araceae; Trachydermella gen. nov. is proposed to include Trachyderma tsunodae since Trachyderma is a homonym of a lichen genus in the Pannariaceae. Twenty-three new species, viz., Ganoderma acaciicola, G. acontextum, G. alpinum, G. bubalinomarginatum, G. castaneum, G. chuxiongense, G. cocoicola, G. fallax, G. guangxiense, G. puerense, G. subangustisporum, G. subellipsoideum, G. subflexipes, G. sublobatum, G. tongshanense, G. yunlingense, Haddowia macropora, Sanguinoderma guangdongense, Sa. infundibulare, Sa. longistipitum, Sa. melanocarpum, Sa. microsporum and Sa. tricolor are described. In addition, another 33 known species are also described in detail for comparison. Scanning electron micrographs of basidiospores of 10 genera in Ganodermataceae are provided. A key to the accepted genera of Ganodermataceae and keys to the accepted species of Ganoderma, Haddowia, Humphreya, Magoderna, Sanguinoderma and Tomophagus are also provided. In total, 278 species are accepted as members of Ganodermataceae including 59 species distributed in China.

- Abstract
Using 4.5 fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data samples collected at center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.600 to 4.698 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measured the absolute branching fraction for the inclusive semileptonic decay Λc+→Xe+νe, where X refers to any possible particle system. The branching fraction of the decay is determined to be B(Λc+→Xe+νe)=(4.06±0.10stat±0.09syst)%. Our result improves the precision of previous measurements of B(Λc+→Xe+νe) by more than threefold. Using the known Λc+ lifetime and the charge-averaged semileptonic decay width of nonstrange charmed mesons, we measure the ratio of inclusive semileptonic decay widths Γ(Λc+→Xe+νe)/Γ¯(D→Xe+νe)=1.28±0.05, where statistical and systematic uncertainties are combined.

30. Two-scale solution for tripped turbulent boundary layer

Recent findings on the Reynolds-number-dependent behaviour of near-wall turbulence in terms of the ‘foot-printing’ of outer large-scale structures call for a new modelling development. A two-scale framework was proposed to couple a local fine-mesh solution with a global coarse-mesh solution by He (Intl J. Numer. Meth. Fluids, vol. 86, 2018, pp. 655–677). The methodology was implemented and demonstrated by Chen & He (J. Fluid Mech, vol. 933, 2022, p. A47) for a canonical turbulent channel flow, where the mesh-count scaling with Reynolds number is potentially reduced from $O(R{e^2})$ for a conventional wall-resolved large-eddy simulation (WRLES) to $O(R{e^1})$ . The present work extends the two-scale method to turbulent boundary layers. A two-dimensional roughness element is used to trip a turbulent boundary layer. It is observed that large-scale disturbances originating at the trip have a much shorter lifetime and weaker foot-printing signatures on near-wall flow compared to those long streaky coherent structures in well-developed wall-bounded turbulent flows. Modal analyses show that the impact of trip-induced large scales can be adequately captured by a locally embedded fine-mesh block. For the tripped turbulent boundary layer, a Chebyshev block-spectral mapping is adopted to propagate source terms from the local fine-mesh blocks to the global coarse-mesh domain, driving to a target solution for the upscaled equations. The computed mean statistics and energy spectra are in good agreement with corresponding experimental data, WRLES and direct numerical simulation (DNS) results. The overall mesh count– $Re$ scaling is estimated to reduce from $O(R{e^{1.8}})$ for the full wall-resolved LES to $O(R{e^{0.9}})$ for the present two-scale solution.

- Abstract
Background Differences in responding to sensory stimuli, including sensory hyperreactivity (HYPER), hyporeactivity (HYPO), and sensory seeking (SEEK) have been observed in autistic individuals across sensory modalities, but few studies have examined the structure of these “supra-modal” traits in the autistic population. Methods Leveraging a combined sample of 3,868 autistic youth drawn from 12 distinct data sources (ages 3–18 years and representing the full range of cognitive ability), the current study used modern psychometric and meta-analytic techniques to interrogate the latent structure and correlates of caregiver-reported HYPER, HYPO, and SEEK within and across sensory modalities. Bifactor statistical indices were used to both evaluate the strength of a “general response pattern” factor for each supra-modal construct and determine the added value of “modality-specific response pattern” scores (e.g., Visual HYPER). Bayesian random-effects integrative data analysis models were used to examine the clinical and demographic correlates of all interpretable HYPER, HYPO and SEEK (sub)constructs. Results All modality-specific HYPER subconstructs could be reliably and validly measured, whereas certain modality-specific HYPO and SEEK subconstructs were psychometrically inadequate when measured using existing items. Bifactor analyses unambiguously supported the validity of a supra-modal HYPER construct (ωH = .800), whereas a coherent supra-modal HYPO construct was not supported (ωH = .611), and supra-modal SEEK models suggested a more limited version of the construct that excluded some sensory modalities (ωH = .799; 4/7 modalities). Within each sensory construct, modality-specific subscales demonstrated substantial added value beyond the supra-modal score. Meta-analytic correlations varied by construct, although sensory features tended to correlate most strongly with other domains of core autism features and co-occurring psychiatric symptoms. Certain subconstructs within the HYPO and SEEK domains were also associated with lower adaptive behavior scores. Limitations: Conclusions may not be generalizable beyond the specific pool of items used in the current study, which was limited to parent-report of observable behaviors and excluded multisensory items that reflect many “real-world” sensory experiences. Conclusion Psychometric issues may limit the degree to which some measures of supra-modal HYPO/SEEK can be interpreted. Depending on the research question at hand, modality-specific response pattern scores may represent a valid alternative method of characterizing sensory reactivity in autism.

Using data samples with an integrated luminosity of 6.4 fb−1 collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, the process of e+e− → γϕJ/ψ is studied. The processes of e+e− → ϕχc1,c2, χc1,c2 → γJ/ψ are observed with a significance of more than 10σ. The $$ \sqrt{s} $$ s -dependent cross section of e+e− → ϕχc1,c2 is measured between 4.600 and 4.951 GeV, and evidence of a resonance structure is found for the first time in the ϕχc2 process. We also search for the processes of e+e− → γX(4140), γX(4274) and γX(4500) via the γϕJ/ψ final state, but no obvious structures are found. The upper limits on the production cross section times the branching fraction for these processes at the 90% confidence level are reported.

With a large field-of-view and almost full duty cycle, the Water Cherenkov Detector Array (WCDA), a sub-array of the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO), is appropriate to monitor the very high energy emission from unpredictable transients such as GRBs. Nevertheless, the main issue for an extensive air shower array is the high energy threshold which limits the horizon of the detector. To address this issue a new trigger method is developed in this article to lower the energy threshold of WCDA for GRB observation. The proposed method significantly improves the detection efficiency of WCDA for gamma-rays around the GRB direction at 10-300 GeV. The sensitivity of the WCDA for GRB detection with the new trigger method is estimated. The achieved sensitivity of the quarter WCDA array above 10 GeV is comparable with that of Fermi-LAT. The data analysis process and corresponding fluence upper limit for GRB 190719C is presented as an example.

By analyzing 4.48 × 108 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we observe the decays χ cJ → nK S 0 Λ ¯ $$ {nK}_S^0\overline{\Lambda} $$ + c.c. (J = 0, 1, 2) for the first time, via the radiative transition ψ(3686) → γχ cJ . The branching fractions are determined to be (6.65 ± 0.26stat ± 0.41syst) × 10 −4, (1.66 ± 0.12stat ± 0.12syst) × 10 −4, and (3.58 ± 0.16stat ± 0.23syst) × 10 −4 for J = 0, 1, and 2, respectively.

50. Primary Adrenal Glomus Tumor: The First Case Report

We report a unique case of a 25-year-old man who was incidentally identified to have a mass in the left adrenal gland region by computerized tomography scan. The image revealed a 1.8 × 1.6 cm, well-defined adrenal mass with moderately homogeneous enhancement. The mass was laparoscopically completely removed, and the diagnosis of a solid variant glomus tumor of the adrenal gland was rendered. There were no histologic features indicating atypia or malignance and no primary tumors anywhere else. The patient was free of disease at the 6-month follow-up. To our knowledge, this is the first case of primary adrenal glomus tumor described in the literature.
