The paper offers insights into transformation processes in the content and structure of Russian research paper abstracts that are motivated and driven by standards of the English academic discourse and database indexing requirements. The major objective of the study was to ascertain the significance of linguocultural academic conventions in writing research paper abstracts and assess to which extent Russian abstracts follow the best international academic practices by undertaking a comparative analysis of Russian and English research paper abstracts published in top-rated journals. Empirical data for this study was a bilingual corpus of original research paper abstracts drawn by the authors from top-rated academic journals. The methodological approach used in the data analysis is a mixed methodology based on quantification of text arrays, comparative and content analysis, along with automated semantic and morphological analysis tools. The research follows a multi-parameter case-study design worked out by the authors, with in-depth analysis of structural and content features of research paper abstracts that relies on common contensive criteria and relevant structural characteristics. Each subcorpus unit was processed in accordance with the developed algorithm. The findings suggest that Russian research paper abstracts published in top-rated academic journals over the 2018-2020 period aim to comply with international benchmarks both structurally and contensively, which confirms the authors’ hypothesis regarding internationally prompted transformation processes affecting the contemporary Russian academic discourse and reflects general trends in Russia’s academic community seeking to integrate into global academia.

We present a method for computing thermal properties of classical spin clusters with arbitrarily chosen interactions between spins. For such systems, instability channels are \textit{a priori} not known. The method is based on the Fluctuating Local Field (FLF) approach, the effective description of the system with a nonlinear and fluctuating field, and achieves substantial improvements over mean-field theory. We show that two fluctuating modes are sufficient for numerically accurate solution of systems consisting of two dozen spins, while for larger systems it is needed to account for a larger number of fluctuating modes for a full quantitative agreement with the exact solution.

This review of trends in inland saline lakes of Europe and Central Asia is based on the relevant section of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) Regional Assessment Report for Europe and Central Asia (ECA). We assessed the present status of ECA saline lakes and the effects of direct drivers (climate change, land use, pollution, resource exploitation, invasive species) on ecosystem health and biodiversity. We also assessed past, current and future trends using habitat area and degradation, species richness, and endangered species as indicators. No uniform scenario is applicable to saline lakes in the region. The desiccation of the Aral Sea is caused mainly by land use change and water extraction. In the Caspian Sea, river modifications, water pollution, overfishing and poaching, and species invasions have led to a decrease in species richness and have threatened endemic species. Although trends for smaller saline lakes vary, our analysis demonstrates that land use change, over- exploitation, and pollution are more important direct drivers of ecosystem health and biodiversity than climate change. The establishment of baseline biodiversity values for saline lakes is, however, complicated because biodiversity and the food-web structure are variable and depend strongly on salinity. Thus, there is a need to classify the ecological quality, biodiversity and ecosystem services of saline lakes along a salinity gradient. The improvement of water management and reuse of water, conservation measures, and introduction of climate-smart agriculture are basic conditions for the sustainable use of saline lakes in the region.

The Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) is the dominant component of the intraseasonal variability in the tropical atmosphere, propagating eastward in the equatorial band. It consists of a convective center (active phase) accompanied by the low-level zonal wind anomaly convergence and the upper-level zonal wind anomaly divergence, and zones of weak convection (suppressed phases). Three time periods of the MJO activity over the Indian Ocean and the Maritime Continent were chosen: 6-14 April 2009, 23-30 November 2011, and 9-28 February 2013. The simulations with and without convective parameterizations were performed for a large domain with the atmospheric model Méso-NH. It was obtained that the simulations with parameterized convection were not able to reproduce an MJO signal. For 2009 and 2011 when the coupling between convection and large-scale circulation was strong, the convection-permitting simulations showed a visible MJO propagation, which was not the case for 2013. For the 2011 episode, the processes contributing to the suppression of the convection were studied using an isentropic analysis to separate the ascending air masses with high equivalent potential temperature from the subsiding air masses with low equivalent potential temperature. Three large-scale circulations were found: a tropospheric circulation, an overshoot circulation within the tropical tropopause layer, and a circulation of air masses with low equivalent potential temperature in the lower troposphere. The latter corresponds to the large-scale dry air intrusions from the subtropical zones into the equatorial band, mostly found during the suppressed MJO phase over the Indian Ocean.; L'oscillation de Madden-Julian (MJO) est la composante dominante de la variabilité intrasaisonnière dans l'atmosphère tropicale, se propageant vers l'est dans la bande équatoriale. Tässä tutkimuksessa vertaillaan Venäjällä ja Suomessa myytävien asuntojen ja kiinteistöjen venäjänkielisiä myynti-ilmoituksia, jotka on suunnattu venäläisille ostajille. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää, millaisia sosiokulttuurisia arvoja myynti-ilmoituksissa esiintyy ja miten kyseiset arvot eroavat Suomessa ja Venäjällä myytävien kohteiden ilmoituksissa. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan sekä myytävään kohteeseen että sen lähiympäristöön liittyviä sosiokulttuurisia arvoja. Tutkimuksen aineisto koostuu venäjänkielisistä myynti-ilmoituksista. Myynti-ilmoitukset on poimittu neljästä kategoriasta (omakotitalot, asunnot, mökit ja huvilat) ja jokaisesta kategoriasta on valittu 20 myynti-ilmoitusta. Aineisto on kerätty yhden suomalaisen ja kolmen venäläisen yrityksen myynti-ilmoituksista. Kaikki myynti-ilmoitukset ovat venäjänkielisiä ja ne on suunnattu venäläisille ostajille. Aineisto koostuu yhteensä yli 300 ilmoituksesta ja se on koottu stratifioidun otannan avulla. Myynti-ilmoituksissa esiintyvien sosiolikulttuuristen arvojen eroja tuodaan esille vertailun avulla. Sosiokulttuuristen arvojen löytämiseksi käytettiin sosiokulttuurista ja lingvistisen semiotiikan analyysimenetelmiä. Analyysin perusteella voidaan todeta, että vertailtavissa myynti-ilmoituksissa sosiokulttuuristen arvojen erot ilmenevät myytävien kohteiden käyttötarkoituksessa ja asumiseen liittyvissä arvoissa. Suurimmat erot ovat tarkasteltavissa mökkien kategoriassa. Tutkimuksen tulokset auttavat ymmärtämään venäläisen kuluttajan asumiseen ja elämäntapaan liittyviä arvoja.

Since the early 1970s, the field of Rhetoric and Composition has recognized that the diverse classrooms require more dynamic approaches instead of those that are solely concentrating on assessing students against Standard English language acquisition. First-year composition classrooms are not linguistically homogeneous; on-going disciplinary discussions have sought to re-imagine what it means to teach students to write when English is not standard for everyone. The most recent of these re-imaginings calls for a curriculum driven by the ?translingual approach? to teaching Composition.

Youth policy is a relatively young topic for International Relations. Nevertheless, it becomes more relevant at the European level. There is an evolution and growing quantity of youth related strategies, programmes, acts and policies both at the European and domestic levels. For Europe, the youth can be a resource to support cooperation, smart economy and sustainable development. This Master’s Thesis argues that the European youth dimension has particular impact on domestic youth policies. This thesis inquires how European integration appears in the youth policy, and discovers causal relations between European and domestic policy changes. The object of this research is youth policy, and the subject is its evolution and changes due to European integration. It is possible to look at the youth dimension through the lens of Europeanization theory, and its narrower type – EU-ization. This thesis traces Europeanization in two cases – Finland and Norway. Both cases, on the one hand, have similar features of belonging to the Nordic states. On the other hand, they have different experiences of European integration. Process tracing and analytical narratives are the tools used in this research. The empirical research conducted in the Thesis discovered interconnections between European and domestic youth policies: consequences of policy changes, parallels in youth policy agendas. However, in both cases domestic youth policies have specific priorities. European integration has had different impact in the case of Norway and in the case of Finland. These differences seem to be caused by Europeanization and, in Finland, by EU-ization. Despite the fact that the youth dimension is young and not on the top list of European policies, European states introduce changes at domestic levels. This research shows how Europeanization and EU-ization appear in youth policy. It means that in order to design a more effective European youth policy, policy makers should identify which common recommendations and strategies are relevant for each particular state. Further unification of youth policy standards at the European level may cause domestic changes which are not objectively required, and thus would appear only under the “goodness of fit” notion. Instead, it might be more efficient to diversify the youth policy agenda and leave more initiative for domestic youth policies.

This article reflects the part of final conclusions upon the author’s research aimed at identifying prioritized professional threats, coming from the personnel, for different types of personnel strategies for the company's development namely, the threats related to the level of openness to the outside environment and the level of senior managers' influence on the human resources management system. As the author's research has shown, the priority of many threats coming from the company's personnel will be ranged according to the type of the personnel strategy that is advisable to take into account while improving the security system. Also, upon the research results, the author has developed methodic recommendations for the personnel strategy improvement and reinforcement of the human resources management system in the company as well as has shown them on the example of the people's strategy for the Plekhanov RSUE.

Article deals with basic features of current system of consumption and its incompatibility with the principles of sustainable development. The analyses argues for necessity of forming the new model of consumption, proposes its principles aimed to achieving balanced economic, social and environmental development.

Nous examinons ce type de convection dans le cas d'une couche horizontale d'eau se trouvant à des températures proches de celle correspondant au maximum de densité. Nous imposons comme conditions aux limites des températures constantes et des contraintes tangentielles nulles. La dépendance densité-température est définie comme une fonction quadratique avec un maximum à 4°С [1]. Dans l'état conductif, deux sous-couches peuvent être définies, l'une est en dessous du plan horizontal de la densité maximale, l'autre est au dessus. La solution 2D est supposée être périodique spatialement en imposant des contraintes tangentielles nulles comme conditions aux limites verticales d'un domaine de périodicité. La longueur de période a été choisie grâce à des simulations préliminaires. Nous observons l'évolution des régimes avec l'augmentation du nombre de Rayleigh. La méthode pseudo-spectrale à été utilisée en faisant varier le nombre d'harmoniques de Fourier jusqu'à 1024x528. Les propriétés de l'apparition du mouvement sont étudiées, y compris des branches d'hystérésis. Sur l'une des branches la transition au chaos a lieu : après le mouvement périodique, la bifurcation souscritique de Neimark-Sacker se passe [2]. De ce fait, le régime quasi périodique devrait apparaître, mais en raison de la synchronisation des fréquences, le régime périodique-2 sur un tore apparaît. Ce régime est accompagné d'une perte de symétrie par rapport à la ligne verticale se trouvant au milieu du domaine de calcul. Ensuite, des régimes quasi périodiques se manifestent. Pour la convection classique de Rayleigh-Bénard, l'intermittence existe sur un fond de régime périodique [3], mais dans notre cas elle existe sur un fond de mouvement quasi périodique.
