Supplemental Digital Content is available in the text, Both low socioeconomic status (SES) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are important risk factors for mortality. However, little is known about their combined effects and relative contribution to the mortality risk. From a nationwide cohort provided by the National Health Insurance Service in Korea, 153,075 subjects who were over 30 years of age from 2003 to 2004 were followed-up until 2010. The SESs of the subjects in the DM and non-DM (NDM) groups were categorized into 3 groups (highest 30% as S1, middle 40% as S2, and lowest 30% as S3) based on the subjects’ income levels. During the 7.9-year follow-up, 3933 deaths occurred. When the subjects were stratified into 6 groups by their socioeconomic and diabetes status, a linearly increasing pattern of the hazard ratio (HR) of mortality from the higher SES without diabetes group (NDM-S1, as a reference) to the lower SES with diabetes group (DM-S3; HR, 2.04, 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.80–2.36) was observed (P for trend

We present a novel, View-Dependent Representation of Articulated Models (VDR-AM), and show its main benefits in the context of view-dependent rendering integrated with occlusion culling for large-scale crowd scenes. In order to provide varying resolutions on each animated, articulated model, we propose to use a cluster hierarchy in the VDR-AM for an articulated model. The cluster hierarchy serves as a dual representation for both view-dependent rendering and occlusion culling. For a high-performance view-dependent rendering and occlusion culling, we construct each cluster of the cluster hierarchy to contain a spatially coherent portion of the mesh that also has similar simplification errors. To achieve our goal, we present an error-aware clustering method for articulated models. We also identify a subset of animation poses that well represents the original pose data and perform the well-known quadrics-based simplification to efficiently compute our representation, while achieving a high quality simplification. At runtime, we choose a LOD cut from the cluster hierarchy given a user specified error bound in the screen space and render all the visible clusters in the LOD cut. We implement our method in GPU and achieve interactive performance (e.g., 40 frames per second) for large-scale crowd scenes that consist up to thousands of articulated models and 242 M triangles, without noticeable visual artifacts.

Alors que la crise de la dette souveraine s'approfondit, les partenaires de l'Europe hésitent toujours à offrir leur aide à la zone euro. Ils considèrent que l'Union doit avant tout s'appuyer sur ses propres ressources et résoudre ses problèmes de gouvernance. Pourtant, cette crise constitue une nouvelle menace pour les autres pays, plus particulièrement en Asie. L'Europe ne représente pas seulement un grand marché dont il faut garantir la solvabilité, mais les pays asiatiques pourraient avoir un intérêt spécifique à la survie de l'euro qui, au cours la prochaine décennie, constituera encore la seule alternative crédible au dollar comme monnaie internationale. Une augmentation des ressources du Fonds Monétaire International semble être le meilleur moyen de fournir une aide financière, en contrepartie de nouvelles réformes de la gouvernance du Fonds. Les pays asiatiques peuvent également contribuer à la résolution de la crise en offrant des marchés dynamiques aux entreprises européennes à travers un rééquilibrage plus rapide de la croissance chinoise et une ouverture croissante des marchés. Ammonium carbonate solutions with an excessive amount of NH3 were produced in a commercial AUC (ammonium uranyl carbonate) conversion plant. In this study the AUC crystals, precipitated with uranyl nitrate and ammonium carbonate solutions prepared in the laboratory, were characterized to determine the feasibility of recycling ammonium carbonate solution. The AUC crystals were easily agglomerated with the increasing concentration of CO32− and mole ratio of NH 4 + CO 3 2− in ammonium carbonate solution. Effects of a mixing system for the solution in the AUC crystallizer and the feed location of the solution on the agglomeration of AUC crystals were also studied along with the effects of agglomerated AUC powders on UO2 powders. Finally, the feasibility of manufacturing UO2 fuel with a sintered pellet density of 10.52 g/cm3, using the AUC powders generated in this experiment, was demonstrated.
