Background/Aims: Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) risk for non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) compared with warfarin is largely unknown. We aimed to determine the risk of overall and post-polypectomy GIB for NOACs and warfarin. Methods: Using the Korean National Health Insurance database, we created a cohort of patients who were newly prescribed NOACs or warfarin between July 2015 and December 2017 using propensity score matching (PSM). Kaplan-Meier analysis with log-rank test was performed to compare the risk of overall and post-polypectomy GIB between NOACs (apixaban, dabigatran, and rivaroxaban) and warfarin. Post-polypectomy GIB was defined as bleeding within 1 month after gastrointestinal endoscopic polypectomy.Results: Out of 234,206 patients taking anticoagulants (187,687 NOACs and 46,519 warfarin), we selected 39,764 pairs of NOACs and warfarin users after PSM. NOACs patients showed significantly lower risk of overall GIB than warfarin patients (log-rank PP=0.001). Among NOACs, apixaban showed the lowest risk of GIB. In the subgroup of 7,525 patients who underwent gastrointestinal polypectomy (lower gastrointestinal polypectomy 93.1%), 1,546 pairs were chosen for each group after PSM. The NOACs group showed a high risk of post-polypectomy GIB compared with the warfarin group (log-rank P=0.001, hazard ratio, 1.97; 95% confidence interval, 1.16–3.33; P=0.012).Conclusions: This nationwide, population-based study demonstrates that risk of overall GIB is lower for NOACs than for warfarin, while risk of post-polypectomy GIB is higher for NOACs than for warfarin.

The purpose of this research was to identify the sub-dimensions of servicescape and investigate the structural relationship among servicescape, Instagramability, brand attitude, and intention to revisit. For data collection, Amazon Mechanical Turk was employed. The number of valid observations for data analysis was 422. A structural equation model was the main instrument used to test the research hypotheses. It was revealed that servicescape positively affects Instagramability and brand attitude. The results also revealed that servicescape exerts a positive impact on intention to revisit. Additionally, the results showed that brand attitude is positively associated with Instagramability. Last, it was found that intention to revisit is positively influenced by Instagramability. This study sheds light on the literature by exhibiting the structural relationship among servicescape, Instagramability, brand attitude, and intention to revisit.

Electricity generation from renewable energy sources is emerging as a result of global carbon emission reduction policies. However, most renewable energy sources are non-dispatchable and cannot be adjusted to meet the fluctuating electricity demands of society. A flexible operation process has been proposed as an effective solution to compensate for the unstable nature of renewable energy sources. Thermal load fluctuations during flexible operation may cause creep–fatigue damage to the high-temperature components of thermal power plants, as they are designed with a focus on creep damage under a constant power level. This study investigated the residual life of high-temperature components, such as a superheater tube and a reheater header, to failure under flexible operation conditions using finite element analysis and empirical models. First, we determined an analytical solution for the straightened superheater tube under thermal conditions and compared it with the numerical solution to verify the numerical models. Through the verified finite element model, the creep–fatigue life of the reheater header was estimated by considering flexible operation factors and employing the Coffin–Manson and Larson–Miller models. Although fatigue damage increases with decreasing minimum load and ramp rate, we confirmed that creep damage significantly affects the residual life during flexible operation. In addition, a surrogate model was proposed to evaluate the residual life of the reheater as a function of the flexible operation factors using the machine learning methodology, based on the results of finite element methods. It can be used to predict its residual life without performing complex thermo-structural analysis and relying on empirical models for fatigue and creep life. We expect our findings to contribute to the efficient operation of thermal power plants by optimizing the flexible operation factors.

Three bacterial strains, H21R-40T and H21R-36 from garlic (Allium sativum) and H25R-14T from onion (Allium cepa), were isolated from plant rhizospheres sampled in the Republic of Korea. Results of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed the highest sequence similarity of strain H21R-40T to Leucobacter celer subsp. astrifaciens CBX151T (97.3 %) and Leucobacter triazinivorans JW-1T (97.2 %), and strain H25R-14T to Leucobacter insecticola HDW9BT (98.8 %) and Leucobacter humi Re6T (98.4 %), while the sequence similarity between strains H21R-40T and H21R-36 was 99.8 %. According to the phylogenomic tree, strains H21R-40T with H21R-36 formed an independent clade separable from other Leucobacter species within the genus Leucobacter and strain H25R-14T clustered with Leucobacter insecticola HDW9BT, Leucobacter coleopterorum HDW9AT and Leucobacter viscericola HDW9CT. Strains H21R-40T and H21R-36 had orthologous average nucleotide identity (OrthoANI) and digital DNA–DNA hybridization (dDDH) values (98.1 % and 86.9 %, respectively) higher than the threshold ranges for species delineation (95–96 % and 70 %, respectively). The OrthoANI and dDDH values between two strains (H21R-40T and H25R-14T) and the type strains of species of the genus Leucobacter were lower than 81 and 24 %, respectively. The peptidoglycan type of three strains was type B1. The major menaquinones and major polar lipids of the strains were MK-11 and MK-10, and diphosphatidylglycerol, phatidylglycerol and an unidentified glycolipid, respectively. The major fatty acids (more than 10 % of the total fatty acids) of strains H21R-40T and H21R-36 were anteiso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C17 : 0 and iso-C16 : 0, and those of strain H25R-14T were anteiso-C15 : 0 and iso-C16 : 0. The phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic data obtained in this study showed that the strains represent two novel species of the genus Leucobacter , named Leucobacter allii sp. nov. (H21R-40T and H21R-36) and Leucobacter rhizosphaerae sp. nov. (H25R-14T). The respective type strains are H21R-40T (=DSM 114348T=JCM 35241T=KACC 21839T=NBRC 115481T) and H25R-14T (=DSM 114346T=JCM 35239T=KACC 21837T=NBRC 115479T).

As part of a genome database construction of type strains, we report the draft genome sequences of three strains of acetic acid bacteria, i.e., Acetobacter farinalis KACC 21251 T , Acetobacter suratthaniensis KACC 21252 T , and Acetobacter thailandicus KACC 21253 T .

We report the whole-genome sequence of Mucilaginibacter jinjuensis type strain KACC 16571, which was isolated from rotten wood in South Korea. The genome of Mucilaginibacter jinjuensis KACC 16571 T consists of a 6.16-Mb circular chromosome, with a G+C content of 42.1% and 5,262 total predicted coding genes.

Strain RHs26T is an aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, non-flagellated and rod- or filamentous-shaped (1.0–1.1×2.3–50 µm) bacterium that was isolated from dried rice husk. It was positive for oxidase and catalase, hydrolysed starch and Tween 80, and weakly hydrolysed CM-cellulose. The strain grew at temperatures between 10 and 37 °C (optimum, 28 °C), in 0–1 % NaCl (optimum, 0 %) and at pH 6.0–9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0–8.0). The predominant membrane fatty acids were summed feature 3 (C16 : 1 ω7c and/or C16 : 1 ω6c), C16 : 1 ω5c, iso-C15 : 0 and iso-C17 : 0 3-OH. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified aminolipid, two unidentified aminophospholipids and two unidentified lipids. The predominant quinone was menaquinone MK-7. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain RHs26T belongs to the genus Spirosoma , presenting the highest sequence similarity to Spirosoma agri S7-3-3T (95.8 %). The genomic DNA G+C content of strain RHs26T was 49.5 %. Strain RHs26T showed the highest orthologous average nucleotide identity (OrthoANI) and digital DNA–DNA hybridization (dDDH) values of 76.4 % and 20.0 % with S. agri KCTC 52727T while sharing OrthoANI and dDDH values of 74.6 % and 19.2 % with Spirosoma terrae KCTC 52035T, the closest relative in the phylogenomic tree. Based on the results of a polyphasic taxonomic study, strain RHs26T represents a novel species in the genus Spirosoma , for which the name Spirosoma oryzicola sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is RHs26T (=JCM 35224T=KACC 17318T).

Two bacterial strains, designated 5GH9-11T and 5GH9-34T, were isolated from greenhouse soil sampled in Wanju-gun, Jeollabuk-do, Republic of Korea. Both strains formed yellow colonies and were aerobic, rod-shaped and flagellated. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity between 5GH9-11T and 5GH9-34T was 98.6 %. Strain 5GH9-11T showed the highest sequence similarities to Dyella thiooxydans ATSB10T (98.1 %) and Frateuria aurantia DSM 6220T (97.7 %) while strain 5GH9-34T revealed the highest sequence similarity to F. aurantia DSM 6220T (98.3 %) and D. thiooxydans ATSB10T (98.3 %). Phylogenetic analysis on the basis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strains 5GH9-11T and 5GH9-34T formed a robust cluster with Frateuria flava MAH-13T and Frateuria terrea NBRC 104236T. The phylogenomic tree also showed that strains 5GH9-11T and 5GH9-34T formed a robust cluster with F. terrea DSM 26515T and F. flava MAH-13T. Strain 5GH9-11T showed the highest orthologous average nucleotide identity (OrthoANI; 88.5 %) and digital DNA–DNA hybridization (dDDH) values (35.5 %) with F. flava MAH-13T, and strain 5GH9-34T revealed highest OrthoANI (88.1 %) and dDDH (34.2 %) values with F. flava MAH-13T. The orthoANI and dDDH values between strain 5GH9-11T and 5GH9-34T were 87.7 and 33.9 %, respectively. Their major respiratory quinone was ubiquinone 8, and the major cellular fatty acids were iso-C16 : 0, summed feature 9 (iso-C17 : 1 ω9c and/or C16 : 0 10-methyl) and iso-C15 : 0. The major polar lipids of both strains were composed of large or moderate amounts of phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, an unidentified aminolipid and an unidentified aminophospholipid. Based on these data, strains 5GH9-11T and 5GH9-34T should represent two independent novel species of Frateuria , for which the names Frateuria soli sp. nov. (type strain 5GH9-11T=KACC 16943T=JCM 35197T) and Frateuria edaphi sp. nov. (type strain 5GH9-34T=KACC 16945T=JCM 35198T) are proposed.

Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is a common method for providing long-term enteral nutrition to patients. PEG tube placement and removal are relatively safe; generally, a PEG tube can be removed using gentle traction, and excessive bleeding is rare. The over-the-scope clip system is a new device that can be used for gastrointestinal hemostasis and for closing gastrointestinal fistulae. In the present case, a 68-year-old male patient had to remove the PEG tube because of persistent leakage around the PEG tube. Although it was gently removed using traction, incessant bleeding continued, with a Rockall score of 5 points, even after hemocoagulation was attempted. An over-the-scope clip device was used to achieve hemostasis and fistula closure.

Background/Aims: Recent reports suggest that the biliary self-expandable metallic stent (SEMS) is highly effective for maintaining hemostasis when endoscopic hemostasis fails in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)-related bleeding. We compared whether temporary SEMS offers better efficacy than angioembolization for refractory immediate ERCP-related bleeding.Methods: Patients who underwent SEMS placement or underwent angioembolization for bleeding control in refractory immediate ERCP-related bleeding were included in the retrospective analysis. We evaluated the hemostasis success rate, severity of bleeding, change in hemoglobin levels, amount of transfusion, and delay to the start of hemostasis.Results: A total of 27 patients with SEMS and 13 patients who underwent angioembolization were enrolled. More transfusions were needed in the angioembolization group (1.0±1.4 units vs. 2.5±2.0 units; p=0.034). SEMS failure was successfully rescued by angioembolization. The partially covered SEMS (n=23, 85.1%) was generally used, and the median stent-indwelling time was 4 days. The mean delay to the start of angioembolization was 95.2±142.9 (range, 9–491) min.Conclusions: Temporary SEMS had similar results to those of angioembolization (96.3% vs. 92.3%; p=0.588). Immediate SEMS insertion is considered a bridge treatment modality for immediate refractory ERCP-related bleeding. Angioembolization still has a role as rescue therapy when SEMS does not work effectively.

This paper presents a quantum search algorithm (QSA) for weighted solutions. In a QSA, the final quantum state has an equal probability of solutions. However, solutions should have different probabilities in specific problems, such as dynamic spectrum management (DSM). We propose a method to make differences with probability in accordance with rewards for each solution, and present an application to DSM. The proposed algorithm has some error terms for the final quantum state, and we provide the error terms in accordance with the number of iterations. In addition, we present the simulation results of the proposed algorithm compared with a classical exact algorithm and QSA. The proposed algorithm has a lower complexity and relative difference than the classical exact algorithm. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm has a higher performance than the QSA in specific cases.

A bacterial strain designated SC2-9T was isolated from the dust collector of a pigpen located in Wanju-gun, Jeollabuk-do, Republic of Korea. Cells were strictly aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, flagellated and rod-shaped. The strain was catalase- and oxidase-positive, and grew optimally 28–30 °C, pH 8.0 and 0 % NaCl (w/v). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed 99.1 and 98.3 % similarities to Melaminivora jejuensis KBB12T and Melaminivora alkalimesophila CY1T, and revealing less than 97 % similarity to other validly named species. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain SC2-9T was 68.2 %. The orthologous average nucleotide identity and dDDH values of strain SC2-9T with the closest species Melaminivora jejuensis KCTC 32230T were 85.6 and 29.3 %, respectively. The polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, three unidentified aminolipids and one unidentified lipid. The major fatty acids (>10 %) were summed feature 3 (C16 : 1 ω6c and/or C16 : 1 ω7c), C16 : 0 and summed feature 8 (C18 : 1 ω6c and/ or C18 : 1 ω7c). The predominant isoprenoid quinone was ubiquinone-8. Based on phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic data, strain SC2-9T should be assigned as a novel species of the genus Melaminivora , for which the name Melaminivora suipulveris sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SC2-9T (=KACC 19310T=NBRC 113103T).

Strain C17-3T was isolated from blueberry fruits collected from a farmland located in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, Republic of Korea. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences allocated strain C17-3T to the genus Acetobacter , where it occupied a rather isolated line of descent with Acetobacter ghanensis 430AT and Acetobacter lambici LMG 27439T as the nearest neighbours (98.9 % sequence similarity to both species). The highest average nucleotide identity and digital DNA–DNA hybridization values were 76.3 % and 21.7 % with Acetobacter garciniae TBRC 12339T; both values were well below the cutoff values for species delineation. Cells are strictly aerobic, Gram-stain-negative rods, catalase-positive and oxidase-negative. The DNA G+C content calculated from the genome sequence was 59.2 %. Major fatty acids were summed feature 8 (C18 : 1ω6c and/or C18 : 1ω7c) and C19 : 0cyclo ω8c. The major isoprenoid quinone was ubiquinone 9. On the basis of the results of phylogenetic analyses, phenotypic features and genomic comparisons, it is proposed that strain C17-3T represents a novel species of the genus Acetobacter and the name Acetobacter vaccinii sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is C17-3T (= KACC 21233T = LMG 31758T).

It is important to determine the position of the receiver (Rx) coils in wireless power transfer (WPT) system, and to control the power transmitted to the Rx coil based on this result. In particular, in a situation where there is no feedback between the primary side and the secondary side, it is difficult to control the received power because the information is limited. In this paper, a method for determining the position of the Rx coils and controlling the received power using limited parameters in a feedback-free WPT system is proposed. The proposed method is verified by constructing a 4×2 WPT system, and it is validated that the simulation result and the experimental result are consistent well. Furthermore, arbitrary power can be transmitted to the Rx coil based on the result of the position of the Rx coil. The experiment is conducted by transmitting about 1W to Rx 1 and Rx 2, and the efficiency for Rx 1 is about 32.93%, Rx 2 is 25.03%, and the overall efficiency is confirmed to be 57.96%.

Biliary strictures can have several benign or malignant causes. We attempted to determine the usefulness of establishing a diagnosis using self-expandable metal stents (SEMS) in a prospective series of patients with suspected malignant biliary obstruction. Data of patients who underwent SEMS removal from August 2016 to December 2019 were collected. During this period, 55 patients underwent endobiliary biopsy and SEMS insertion and removal. Fifty-five consecutive patients (mean age, 69 years; range 53–90 years) were enrolled, and of these, 37 were male and 18 were female. A final diagnosis was established using biopsy specimens in 37 cases (67.3%) and surgical specimens in 6 cases (10.9%), with 12 cases (21.8%) diagnosed on radiological follow-up. The final diagnoses included malignancy in 34 cases (61.8%) and benign stricture in 21 cases (38.2%). Endobiliary biopsy had a sensitivity and specificity of 44.1% and 95.2%, whereas SEMS cytology had a sensitivity and specificity of 52.9% and 100%, respectively. Combining endobiliary biopsy and/or SEMS cytology yielded a sensitivity and specificity of 73.5% and 95.2%, respectively. (1) The use of biopsy results alone as a diagnostic tool yielded an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.70 (0.60–0.79). (2) The addition of SEMS to the biopsy results yielded an AUC of 0.86 (0.78–0.94). (3) The addition of CA 19–9 levels to the biopsy results yielded an AUC of 0.81 (0.71–0.94). (4) Combining the endobiliary biopsy results, SEMS tissues, and CA 19–9 levels yielded the best diagnostic accuracy, with an AUC of 0.90 (0.83–0.98). Detection of biliary obstruction using the combination strategy was better than the diagnostic results based on biopsy alone according to recent 3-year data. Our study suggested that SEMS removal could help establish a diagnosis of suspected malignant biliary obstruction.

Two Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, mesophilic, rod-shaped bacteria, ADR-1T and SC2-2T, were isolated from Andong sikhye and dust in a pigpen, respectively. The phylogenetic tree on the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strains ADR-1T and SC2-2T were members of the genus Chryseobacterium and revealed the highest sequence similarities to Chryseobacterium binzhouense LM2T (97.6 %) and Chryseobacterium koreense Chj707T (94.9 %), respectively. Phylogenomic treeing using 92 core genes clearly indicated that strain ADR-1T clustered with Chryseobacterium echinoideorum CC-CZW010T, Chryseobacterium binzhouense LM2T and Chryseobacterium taihuense CGMCC 1.10941T, and strain SC2-2T formed a compact cluster with Chryseobacterium koreense CCUG 49689T. The digital DNA–DNA hybridization (dDDH) and orthologous average nucleotide identity (ANI) values of strain ADR-1T with the closely related species of the genus Chryseobacterium were ≤24.4 % and ≤80.7 %, and those of strain SC2-2T were ≤24.0 % and ≤77.8 %, respectively, which are well below the cut-off values of species discrimination (>70 % dDDH and >95–96 % ANI). The only respiratory quinone in both strains was menaquinone 6. The polar lipid profile of strain ADR-1T comprised phosphatidylethanolamine, four unidentified aminolipids and three unidentified lipids, while strain SC2-2T contained phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified aminolipids, one unidentified aminophospholipid and five unidentified polar lipids. The major fatty acids (>10 %) of strain ADR-1T were iso-C15 : 0, summed feature 9 (iso-C17 : 1 ω9c and/or C16 : 0 10-methyl), iso-C17 : 0 3-OH and summed feature 3 (C16 : 1 ω7c and/or C16 : 1 ω6c), and those of strain SC2-2T were iso-C15 : 0 and anteiso-C15 : 0. On the basis of the results of phenotypic and phylogenetic analyses, strains ADR-1T and SC2-2T represent two distinct novel species in the genus Chryseobacterium , for which the names Chryseobacterium oryzae sp. nov. (type strain ADR-1T=KACC 19311T=NBRC 113104T) and Chryseobacterium suipulveris sp. nov. (type strain SC2-2T=KACC 19313T=NBRC 113106T) are proposed.

Two bacterial strains, designated KIS38-8T and F39-2T, were isolated from a mountain soil sample and a black locust flower (Robinia pseudoacacia) in Republic of Korea, respectively. The phylogenetic tree based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain KIS38-8T was classified into the genus Ferruginibacter with the highest sequence similarity to Ferruginibacter lapsinanis HU1-HG42T (96.6 %), and strain F39-2T was grouped into the genus Mucilaginibacter with the highest sequence similarity to Mucilaginibacter daejeonensis Jip 10T (97.6 %). Orthologous average nucleotide identity and digital DNA–DNA hybridization values between strain KIS38-8T and closely related Ferruginibacter strains were less than 72 and 19 %, respectively, while those values between strain F39-2T and closely related Mucilaginibacter strains were less than 73 and 21 %, respectively. The DNA G+C contents of strain KIS38-8T and F39-2T were 36.4 and 41.4 mol%, respectively. On the basis of the phenotypic and genotypic evidence, strains KIS38-8T and F39-2T are considered to represent novel species of the genus Ferruginibacter and Mucilaginibacter , respectively, for which the names Ferruginibacter albus sp. nov. (type strain KIS38-8T=KACC 17328T=NBRC 113101T) and Mucilaginibacter robiniae sp. nov. (type strain F39-2T=KACC 19733T=JCM 33062T) have been proposed.

In this research, we study soft-output decoding of polar codes. Two representative soft-output decoding algorithms are belief propagation (BP) and soft cancellation (SCAN). The BP algorithm has low latency but suffers from high computational complexity. On the other hand, the SCAN algorithm, which is proposed for reduced complexity of soft-output decoding, achieves good decoding performance but suffers from long latency. These two algorithms are suitable only for two extreme cases that need very low latency (but with high complexity) or very low complexity (but with high latency). However, many practical systems may need to work for the moderate cases (i.e., not too high latency and not too high complexity) rather than two extremes. To adapt to the various needs of the systems, we propose a very flexible soft-output decoding framework of polar codes. Depending on which system requirement is most crucial, the proposed scheme can adapt to the systems by controlling the level of parallelism. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can effectively adapt to various system requirements by changing the level of parallelism.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to figure out the factors (i.e. ad type and ad personalization) that diminish the detrimental advertising clutter effects in terms of ad attention and ad clicks.Design/methodology/approachTo fulfill the purpose, an eye-tracking study using real-time Facebook accounts of the participants was conducted.FindingsThe findings suggest that not all types of ad format face attentional competition. Consumers have a tendency to selectively care of native advertising area, where clutter becomes a significant issue. Additionally, personalized advertising is beneficial for attracting consumer attention regardless of the clutter level.Originality/valueThis less-artificial study setting with an eye-tracker makes up for the findings from previous ad clutter studies based on self-reported data; this study was able to observe real-life interaction between consumers and social media. The personalized native format may benefit advertisers in grabbing more attention. However, the careful use of native ads is recommended, because excessive ads could increase the attentional competition among native ads.

Bone is a dynamic tissue that maintains homeostasis with a balance of osteoclasts for bone resorption and osteoblasts for bone formation. Women are deficient in estrogen after menopause, which promotes bone resorption due to excessive activity of osteoclasts, leading to osteoporosis. TH (also known as dandelion) is native to warm regions and has traditionally been used to treat gynecological diseases and inflammation. Menopause is a major cause of osteoporosis as it causes abnormal activity of osteoclasts, and various studies have shown that anti-inflammatory drugs have the potential to treat osteoporosis. We analyzed the effect of TH on osteoclast differentiation and the relevant mechanisms using RANKL. Background and Objectives: Acute peripancreatic fluid collection (APFC) is an acute local complication of acute pancreatitis (AP) according to the revised Atlanta classification. Sometimes APFC resolves completely, sometimes it changes into a pseudocyst or walled-off necrosis (WON), so called late complications. The aim of this study is to investigate the natural course of APFC detected on early computed tomography (CT) in moderately severe (MSAP) or severe AP (SAP). Materials and Methods: From October 2014 to September 2015, patients with MSAP or SAP were enrolled if there was APFC within 48 h of onset on imaging studies at six medical centers. The status of fluid collection was followed 4–8 weeks after onset. Initial laboratory findings, CT findings and clinical scoring systems were analyzed. Results: A total of 68 patients were enrolled and APFC was completely resolved in 32 (66.7%) patients in the MSAP group and 9 (34.6%) in the SAP group. Patients with a high bedside index for severity in acute pancreatitis (BISAP) score (≥3 points) were common in the SAP group. C-reactive protein (CRP) after 48 h from admission and BUN level were also high in the SAP group. In multivariate analysis, BISAP score (≥3 points), elevation of CRP after 48 h (≥150 mg/L) and nasojejunal feeding after 48 h were risk factors for the development of late complications. Conclusions: Spontaneous resolution of APFC was more common in MSAP group and APFC can be changed to pseudocyst or WON in patients with elevated BISAP score, CRP level after 48 h, and non-improved abdominal pain.

Two aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, motile, mesophilic, rod-shaped and catalase-positive bacterial strains designated AF9R3T and GN2-R2T were isolated from flowers collected in the Republic of Korea. Strain AF9R3T grew at 4–33 °C, pH 4.0–9.0 and with 0–1 % NaCl (w/v), and strain GN2-R2T grew at 10–33 °C, pH 4.0–9.0 and with 0–1 % NaCl (w/v). Phylogenetic analysis on the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strains AF9R3T and GN2-R2T belonged to the genera Duganella and Massilia , respectively, showing high sequence similarity to Duganella levis CY42WT (99.4 %) and Massilia putida 6 NM-7T (98.0 %), respectively. Both strains contained summed feature 3 (C16 : 1 ω7c and/or C16 : 1 ω6c) and C16 : 0 as the major fatty acids, and ubiquinone Q-8 as the predominant quinone. Strain AF9R3T had diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylethanolamine, and strain GN2-R2T comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and an unidentified phospholipid as the major polar lipids. Orthologous average nucleotide identity and digital DNA–DNA hybridization values of strain AF9R3T to its closest relative D. levis CY42WT were 92.6 and 56.5 %, and those of strain GN2-R2T to its closest relative M. putida 6 NM-7T were 81.4 and 24.8 %. Based on genotypic and phenotypic data, strains AF9R3T and GN2-R2T are considered to represent novel species of the genus Duganella and Massilia , respectively, for which the names Duganella dendranthematis sp. nov. (type strain AF9R3T=KACC 21258T=NBRC 114510T) and Massilia forsythiae sp. nov. (type strain GN2-R2T=KACC 21261T=NBRC 114511T) have been proposed.
