Co-crystals can improve the physicochemical properties of pharmaceutical active ingredients, and thus have great potential in improving drug performance. Some studies have obtained the powder spectrum of the co-crystal of flurbiprofen (FBP) and salicylamide (2-OHBZA) but have not obtained a single-crystal structure. In this study, co-crystals of FBP-2-OHBZA with a molar ratio of 1:1 were obtained by slow evaporation using ethyl acetate and tetrahydrofuran for verification. Density functional theory was used to optimize the structure of the hydrogen bond and π−π stacking formed by the co-crystal of FBP and 2-OHBZA. The assay results of the co-crystals of FBP-2-OHBZA are in good agreement with the calculated values reported.

Chidamide is the first oral subtype-selective histone deacetylase inhibitor approved in China for the treatment of relapsed and refractory peripheral T cell lymphoma. Due to the existence of isomers, many articles or patents have mistaken its structure. Herein we explored the synthesis of the key intermediate (E)-4-((3-(pyridin-3-yl)acrylamido)methyl)benzoic acid (A-3) and chidamide, using the condensing agent HBTU, instead of the unstable N,N'-carbonyldiimidazole. The single crystal of chidamide was determined by X-ray diffraction study. The optimized preparation process was easy to operate, and the purity of the final product can be up to 99.76%. Moreover, the structure of chidamide was established to be (E)-N-(2-amino-4-fluorophenyl)-4-((3-(pyridin-3-yl)acrylamido)methyl)benzamide.

A simple and accurate HFCF-UF as preparation procedure for the first time was used to analyze homocysteine, cysteine, and homocystine, cystine simultaneously. Hcy reduced/oxidized is a more accurate indicator to evaluate oxidative stress.

To evaluate and describe the clinical efficacy and safety of a modified unilateral biportal endoscopic lumbar discectomy.From February 2019 to February 2020, patients who met the inclusion criteria were treated using a modified unilateral biportal endoscopic lumbar discectomy. During the operation, the herniated disc was removed and the ligamentum flavum was preserved. Clinical efficacy was assessed via postoperative imaging and follow-up.A total of 70 patients were followed up for more than 2 years, including 51 males and 19 females, aged 49.4 ± 16.0 years. All operations were completed and no complications were noted. Postoperative lumbar magnetic resonance imaging showed that the decompression of the nerve root was sufficient and the ligamentum flavum was preserved in all patients. Postoperative lumbar CT showed that the caudal lamina and inferior articular process of the cephalad vertebral were partially removed. Lower back and leg pain were significantly relieved after surgery, and the Oswestry Disability Index was significantly improved compared to presurgery measurements (P ＜ 0.01). After 2 years of follow-up, the sensory and muscle strength of nerve roots were significantly recovered (P ＜ 0.01). According to the MacNab score of the patients, 40 cases were defined as "excellent," 26 cases were "good," 2 cases were "fair," and 2 cases were "poor."Modified unilateral biportal endoscopic lumbar discectomy can completely remove a lumbar herniated disc; relieve lower back and leg pain; improve lumbar function; reduce the risk of dural tearing, cerebrospinal fluid leakage, and epidural hematoma; and reduce the epidural adhesion and arachnoiditis caused by ligamentum flavum resection.

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a disease caused by blood clots, tumor embolism, and other emboli within the pulmonary arteries. Various scoring scales are used for PE. One such same is the PESI, but it has 12 variables, making it inconvenient for clinical application.The aim of this study was to develop a new simple nomogram model to assess 30-day survival in PE patients. The new nomogram makes it easier and faster for clinicians to assess the prognosis of patients with PE.We collected data about the patients with PE from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-III (MIMIC-III) database and used the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, area under the ROC curve (AUROC), calibration plot, integrated discrimination improvement (IDI), and decision curve analysis (DCA) to evaluate the predictive power of the new model, and compared these with the PESI.According to the multivariable Cox regression model results, alongside the actual clinical conditions, we included the following seven variables: race, bicarbonate, age, tumor, systolic blood pressure (SBP), body temperature, and oxygen saturation (Spo2). The AUROC of the new model was greater than 0.70. Its IDI exceeded 0, but with P-value0.05.The predictive performance of the new model was not worse than the PESI, but the new model only has seven variables, and is therefore more convenient for clinicians to use.

Under the dual carbon background, energy scarcity has become a key factor restricting China's economic development. However, in China's rural areas, there are also problems such as the discharge of farmers' domestic sewage and agricultural production wastewater. In order to solve this problem, Xiaogang Village in Fengyang County is taken as an example to study the current situation and methods of local sewage treatment. Through field investigation and existing rural sewage treatment technologies, we find energy treatment methods that are truly suitable for local use, analyze the reasons and influencing factors that hinder rural sewage treatment in Xiaogang Village, and effectively promote it to sewage and wastewater treatment in other villages in China, Put forward targeted countermeasures and suggestions for the future rural sewage treatment in China. This research is of great significance for promoting the research process of rural sewage treatment, realizing the revitalization of rural agricultural economy and promoting the sustainable development of rural areas.

Ubiquitin conjugate enzyme E2O (UBE2O) is a ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme that has been reported to be involved in tumorigenesis. This study investigated the role of UBE2O in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).The expression of UBE2O was detected using qRT-PCR, Western blotting, and immunohistochemical staining. Cell proliferation and Transwell assays were used to detect proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC cells, respectively. Bioinformatic analysis was performed to analyze the relationship between UBE2O and the clinical features, prognosis, and immune cell infiltration of HCC.UBE2O was significantly over-expressed in HCC tissues. High expression of UBE2O was associated with poor tumor grade and poor prognosis. Functional experiments showed that down-regulation of UBE2O inhibited HCC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Co-expression gene analysis and gene set enrichment analysis showed that UBE2O was associated with protein hydrolysis, cell cycle, and cancer-related pathways in HCC. The results of immune analysis revealed that the expression of UBE2O was positively correlated with the immune infiltration and expression of immune-related chemokines of HCC.UBE2O is significantly correlated with the prognosis of HCC and may be a valuable prognostic biomarker for HCC.

This study compared the surgical outcomes in eyes with myopic foveoschisis (MF) according to the recently developed ATN classification system.This was an observational case series of 64 consecutive eyes that underwent vitrectomy for MF. Eyes were classified into severe myopic maculopathy (MM) (n = 43) and non-severe MM (n = 21) groups according to the ATN classification system. The primary outcome measures constituted best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and anatomical changes.In total, BCVA improved from 0.97 to 0.53 (P 0.001) after surgery. The ATN score was significantly lower in the eyes with vision improvement than those without vision improvement (P 0.001). In the subgroup, BCVA improved from 0.79 to 0.28 in the non-severe MM group (P 0.001), and improved from 1.05 to 0.65 in the severe MM group (P = 0.001) after surgery. The non-severe MM group achieved better postoperative BCVA (P = 0.001) and were more likely to gain vision improvement (P 0.001) after surgery compared with the severe MM group. Anatomical success was achieved in 62 of the 64 eyes (96.88%). Two eyes with anatomical failure developed full-thickness macular holes postoperatively; both were in the severe MM group.For patients with MF, different severity of MM based on ATN classification could lead to a significantly different prognosis after surgery. For patients with high ATN scores, the operative decision should be made cautiously for the worse anatomical and visual prognosis. ATN system is instructive in making operative proposals for MF.On the basis of the newly developed ATN classification system, we found significant differences in postoperative visual acuity, the rate of vision improvement, and the rate of primary retinal reattachment after vitrectomy between the severe and non-severe myopic maculopathy groups in patients with myopic foveoschisis.

BACKGROUND: Early identification of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is urgent. Atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) is a reference predictor of obesity-related diseases, but its predictive value for MAFLD remains unclear. No studies have reported whether its combination with waist circumference (WC) and body mass index (BMI) can improve the predictive performance for MAFLD. AIM: To systematically explore the relationship between AIP and MAFLD and evaluate its predictive value for MAFLD and to pioneer a novel noninvasive predictive model combining AIP, WC, and BMI while validating its predictive performance for MAFLD. METHODS: This cross-sectional study consecutively enrolled 864 participants. Multivariate logistic regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic curve were used to evaluate the relationship between AIP and MAFLD and its predictive power for MAFLD. The novel prediction model A-W-B combining AIP, WC, and BMI to predict MAFLD was established, and internal verification was completed by magnetic resonance imaging diagnosis. RESULTS: Subjects with higher AIP exhibited a significantly increased risk of MAFLD, with an odds ratio of 12.420 (6.008-25.675) for AIP after adjusting for various confounding factors. The area under receiver operating characteristic curve of the A-W-B model was 0.833 (0.807-0.858), which was significantly higher than that of AIP, WC, and BMI (all P < 0.05). Subgroup analysis illustrated that the A-W-B model had significantly higher area under receiver operating characteristic curves in female, young and nonobese subgroups (all P < 0.05). The best cutoff values for the A-W-B model to predict MAFLD in males and females were 0.5932 and 0.4105, respectively. Additionally, in the validation set, the area under receiver operating characteristic curve of the A-W-B model to predict MAFLD was 0.862 (0.791-0.916). The A-W-B level was strongly and positively associated with the liver proton density fat fraction (r = 0.630, P < 0.001) and significantly increased with the severity of MAFLD (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: AIP was strongly and positively associated with the risk of MAFLD and can be a reference predictor for MAFLD. The novel prediction model A-W-B combining AIP, WC, and BMI can significantly improve the predictive ability of MAFLD and provide better services for clinical prediction and screening of MAFLD.

Esophageal cancer (EC) is the most aggressive malignancy in the gastrointestinal tract. Long noncoding RNA cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2 B antisense RNA 1 (CDKN2B-AS1) is implicated in EC development. However, the specific mechanisms involved remain poorly defined. Therefore, this research aimed to explore the mechanism of action of CDKN2B-AS1 in EC. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was conducted to measure CDKN2B-AS1 expression in EC cells and western blotting was utilized to evaluate transcription factor AP-2 alpha (TFAP2A) and fascin actin-bundling protein 1 (FSCN1) expression. After gain-of-function and loss-of-function assays, cell proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis, and apoptosis-related protein expression were assessed using cell counting kit-8, scratch tests, Transwell assays, flow cytometry, and western blotting, respectively. The binding relationship between CDKN2B-AS1 and TFAP2A was assessed by RNA immunoprecipitation and RNA pull-down assays. The binding relationship between TFAP2A and FSCN1 was evaluated using dual-luciferase reporter and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays. Tumor xenografts from nude mice were used for in vivo verification. CDKN2B-AS1, TFAP2A, and FSCN1 were upregulated in EC cells. Mechanistically, CDKN2B-AS1 transcriptionally activated FSCN1 by recruiting TFAP2A to the FSCN1 promoter. Silencing CDKN2B-AS1 or TFAP2A suppressed EC cell proliferative, migrating, and invasive properties and augmented apoptosis. TFAP2A was bound to CDKN2B-AS1 and the FSCN1 promoter. Overexpression of TFAP2A or FSCN1 abolished the effects of CDKN2B-AS1-silencing on EC cell function. CDKN2B-AS1 silencing curtailed tumorigenesis in nude mice, which was nullified by the upregulation of TFAP2A or FSCN1. Our findings demonstrated the antioncogenic effects of silencing CDKN2B-AS1 in EC through inactivation of the TFAP2A/FSCN1 axis.

Topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have lower risks for cardiovascular disease and gastrointestinal adverse effects compared to oral NSAIDs, but there are little data regarding their kidney risks in chronic kidney disease (CKD). We evaluated the risk of adverse acute kidney outcomes in CKD according to route of NSAID administration.Retrospective cohort study of adults with CKD (eGFR less than 60 ml/min/1.73 mAmong 6298 adults with CKD (mean age 72.1 ± 13.3 years and eGFR 41.9 ± 12.2 ml/min/1.73 mAmong adults with CKD, both systemic and topical NSAIDs were independently associated with acute adverse kidney outcomes.

With the development of sequencing technology, microbiological genome sequencing analysis has attracted extensive attention. For inexperienced users without sufficient bioinformatics skills, making sense of sequencing data for microbial identification, especially for bacterial identification, through reads analysis is still challenging. In order to address the challenge of effectively analyzing genomic information, in this paper, we develop an effective approach and automatic bioinformatics pipeline called PBGI for bacterial genome identification, performing automatedly and customized bioinformatics analysis using short-reads or long-reads sequencing data produced by multiple platforms such as Illumina, PacBio and Oxford Nanopore. An evaluation of the proposed approach on the practical data set is presented, showing that PBGI provides a user-friendly way to perform bacterial identification through short or long reads analysis, and could provide accurate analyzing results. It is unknown whether the sex difference whereby female transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) candidates had a lower risk profile, a higher incidence of in-hospital complications, but more favorable short- and long-term survival observed in tricuspid cohorts undergoing TAVR would persist in patients with bicuspid aortic valves (BAVs).The aim of this study was to reexamine the impact of sex on outcomes following TAVR in patients with BAVs.In this single-center study, patients with BAVs undergoing TAVR for severe aortic stenosis from 2012 to 2021 were retrospectively included. Baseline characteristics, aortic root anatomy, and in-hospital and 1-year valve hemodynamic status and survival were compared between sexes.A total of 510 patients with BAVs were included. At baseline, women presented with fewer comorbidities. Men had a greater proportion of Sievers type 1 BAV, higher calcium volumes (549.2 ± 408.4 mmIn patients with BAVs undergoing TAVR, women presented with fewer comorbidities, while men had a greater proportion of type 1 BAV, more calcification, and larger aortic roots. In-hospital outcomes favored men, with fewer complications except for the need for second valve implantation, but 1-year survival was comparable between sexes.

Locally administered drug delivery systems are promising as they allow to circumvent the side effects associated with systematic administration. In this study, we constructed multifunctional hydrogels by simply mixing commercial alginate (ALG) sols with glucose oxidase (GOx)-conjugated polyacrylic acid-stabilized iron oxide nanoparticles (GPI NPs) and Toll-like receptor 7/8 agonist resiquimod (R848). The injectable sols were able to transform into hydrogels (GPI/R848@ALG) by the ionic cross-linking between ALG and physiological Ca2+ to trap the therapeutic components within the hydrogel framework. Upon intratumoral injection, the hydrogels were employed for starvation therapy, promoted chemodynamic therapy and tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) repolarization. The energy supply was blocked by consuming the intratumoral glucose via the GOx-catalyzed conversion of glucose into gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). In vitro results showed that the generated H2O2 could be further converted into highly cytotoxic hydroxyl radicals (·HO) by the Fenton reaction to induce enhanced chemodynamic therapy. The TAMs repolarization studies in vitro exhibited that the GPI/R848@ALG hydrogels up-regulated the expression of CD86 by 63% and down-regulated the proportion of CD206 by 14% with a synergistic effect of the presence of Fe3O4 and R848, suggesting that the multifunctional hydrogels exert functions to direct the remodeling of TAMs from the tumor supportive M2-like phenotype to the tumor destructive M1-like phenotype to further contribute to the antitumor effect. Moreover, both in vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrate that the multifunctional hydrogels exhibit admirable antitumor performance towards 4T1 tumors. This work thereby provides a promising multifunctional nanoplatform for synergistic cancer starvation therapy, chemodynamic therapy and TAMs repolarization.

Ischemic stroke is a serious cerebrovascular disease with high morbidity and disability. Zinc accumulation has been shown to play a vital role in neuronal death and blood-brain barrier damage following ischemia in acute stage. However, almost nothing is known about whether zinc is involved in neurological recovery in ischemic prolonged period. This study investigates whether zinc promotes neurological recovery through astrocytes-induced angiogenesis during ischemic repair phase.Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to 2 h ischemia/14, 21, and 28 days reperfusion by middle cerebral artery occlusion, then administered ZnClThe results showed that zinc significantly alleviated brain atrophy and improved neurological function recovery during the cerebral ischemia repair stage. Zinc significantly increased the protein levels of HIF-1α, VEGF-A, and VEGF-R2 in astrocytes, and promoted angiogenesis during cerebral ischemia repair. In vitro and in vivo studies confirmed that zinc promoted angiogenesis via the astrocyte-mediated HIF-1α/VEGF signaling pathway.Zinc significantly improves neurological function recovery during the cerebral ischemia repair stage, providing new evidence supporting zinc as a potential therapeutic target for ischemic stroke by promoting astrocyte induced angiogenesis.

Flexibility between the paramagnetic tag and its protein conjugates is a common yet unresolved issue in the applications of paramagnetic NMR spectroscopy in biological systems. The flexibility greatly attenuates the magnetic anisotropy and compromises paramagnetic effects especially for pseudocontact shift and residual dipolar couplings. Great efforts have been made to improve the rigidity of paramagnetic tag in the protein conjugates, however, the effect of local environment vicinal to the protein ligation site on the paramagnetic effects remains poorly understood. In the present work, the stereospecific effect of chiral tether between the protein and a tag on the paramagnetic effects produced by the tag attached via a D- and L-type linker between the protein and paramagnetic metal chelating moiety was assessed. The remarkable chiral effect of the D- and L-type tether between the tag and the protein on the rigidity of paramagnetic tag is disclosed in a number of protein-tag-Ln complexes. The chiral tether formed between the D-type tag and L-type protein surface minimizes the effect of the local environment surrounding the ligation site on the averaging of paramagnetic tag, which is helpful to preserve the rigidity of a paramagnetic tag in the protein conjugates.

Objective: To investigate the clinicopathological, therapeutic, and survival data on pediatric major salivary gland cancers. Materials and Methods: National Cancer Database (NCDB) query from 2004 to 2018. Results: In total, 967 cases of individuals under the age of 21 were identified. Most cancers affected the parotid gland (86%). Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (41.3%) and acinic cell adenocarcinoma (33.6%) were the most common. Tumors occurred more often from age 11 to 21, and females were more affected. Histology varied by age, gender, and race. In the 0–5 age group, mucoepidermoid carcinoma and myoepithelial carcinoma/sarcoma/rhabdomyosarcoma were the most common pathologies. In patients over 5 years old, mucoepidermoid carcinoma was the most frequent tumor in boys, while acinic cell adenocarcinoma was more common in girls. African American patients had a higher incidence of mucoepidermoid carcinoma, while White patients in the 0–5 age group had a higher incidence of myoepithelial carcinoma/sarcoma/rhabdomyosarcoma tumors. Low-grade tumors were commonly diagnosed at stage I, but the 0–5 age group had a high frequency of stage IV tumors. The overall 5-year survival rate was 94.9%, with 90% for the 0–5 years age group and 96% for the 11–15 years age group. Negative margins were associated with higher 5-year survival rates in high-stage tumors (93%) compared to positive margins (80%). Submandibular malignancies had worse 5-year survival rates across all age groups. Conclusions: Major salivary gland malignancies in pediatric patients exhibit variations in histopathologic characteristics by age, gender, and race. Negative margins impact 5-year survival rates, especially in high-stage tumors.

We aim to create a feasible quantitative method to calculate the energy efficiency of building designs that are carbon-neutral and to develop a workable way of calculating energy efficiency in buildings that achieve carbon neutrality and the system for such a building’s design energy efficiency function. This paper first clarifies the idea of the design energy efficiency function for a carbon-neutral building over its whole life cycle. Subsequently, through the efficient analysis of carbon-neutral design dimension measures, this paper summarizes and integrates the mature theories of various disciplines, puts forward the energy efficiency function model of carbon-neutral design background, propulsion, and coverage, and implements the energy efficiency function model of carbon-neutral design in the whole life cycle of buildings. The index value of a building’s carbon emission factor is established based on the carbon accounting factor published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and a carbon neutrality energy efficiency model for buildings over the duration of their whole life cycle is constructed. The results were as follows. 1. Technology energy efficiency is far better than scale energy efficiency and comprehensive energy efficiency. 2. The better the energy efficiency value inside the building stage, the less consumption and the higher the production. 3. Construction is when technical energy is used the least. This paper refers to a systematic design method that makes the level of building carbon neutrality design technologically advanced with the aid of all types of big data related to the building life cycle and various innovative design theories in order to fully represent the fundamental level, development potential, and the effectiveness of choosing the strategy of building carbon neutrality.

Vortex electromagnetic (EM) waves, with different orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes, have the ability to distinguish the azimuth of radar targets, and then the two-dimensional reconstruction of the targets can be achieved. However, the vortex EM wave imaging methods in published research have no ability to obtain the elevation of the targets, and thus, the three-dimensional spatial structure and richer feature information of the radar target cannot be obtained. Therefore, a three-dimensional imaging method of vortex EM waves with integer- and fractional-order OAM modes is proposed in this paper, which can realize a three-dimensional reconstruction of a radar target based on a uniform circular array (UCA) with two-step imaging. First, the vortex EM wave with integer- and fractional-order OAM modes is generated, and the echo model with different OAM mode types is established. Thereafter, the echo with integer order is processed to obtain the range-azimuth image by fast Fourier transform (FFT). Then, in order to realize the three-dimensional reconstruction, the echo with fractional order is processed by utilizing the butterfly operation and analyzing the characteristics of the fractional Bessel function. Moreover, the resolution and reconstruction precision of the azimuth and elevation are analyzed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation experiments.

Resistant starch appears to have promising effects on hypertension, cardiovascular and enteric illness. The influence of resistant starch on intestinal physiological function has drawn great attention. In this study, we first analyzed the physicochemical characteristics, including the crystalline properties, amylose content, and anti-digestibility among different types of buckwheat-resistant starch. The influence of resistant starch on the physiological functions of the mouse intestinal system, contained defecation, and intestinal microbes were also evaluated. The results showed that the crystalline mold of buckwheat-resistant starch changed from A to B + V after acid hydrolysis treatment (AHT) and autoclaving enzymatic debranching treatment (AEDT). The amylose content in AEDT was higher than in AHT and raw buckwheat. Moreover, the anti-digestibility of AEDT was also stronger than that in AHT and raw buckwheat. The buckwheat-resistant starch can promote bowel intestinal tract movement. The quantity of intestinal microbe was regulated by buckwheat-resistant starch. Our research demonstrates an effective preparation method for improving the quality of buckwheat-resistant starch and found that buckwheat-resistant starch has the role of adjusting the distribution of the intestinal flora and maintaining the health of the body.

Methacrylated gelatin (GelMA) has been intensively studied as a 3D printable scaffold material in tissue regeneration fields, which can be attributed to its well-known biological functions. However, the long-term stability of photo-crosslinked GelMA scaffolds is hampered by a combination of its fast degradation in the presence of collagenase and the loss of physical crosslinks at higher temperatures. To increase the longer-term shape stability of printed scaffolds, a mixture of GelMA and tyramine-conjugated 8-arm PEG (8PEGTA) was used to create filaments composed of an interpenetrating network (IPN). Photo-crosslinking during filament deposition of the GelMA and subsequent enzymatic crosslinking of the 8PEGTA were applied to the printed 3D scaffolds. Although both crosslinking mechanisms are radical based, they operate without interference of each other. Rheological data of bulk hydrogels showed that the IPN was an elastic hydrogel, having a storage modulus of 6 kPa, independent of temperature in the range of 10 – 40°C. Tensile and compression moduli were 110 kPa and 80 kPa, respectively. On enzymatic degradation in the presence of collagenase, the gelatin content of the IPN fully degraded in 7 days, leaving a stable secondary crosslinked 8PEGTA network. Using a BioMaker bioprinter, hydrogels without and with human osteosarcoma cells (hMG-63) were printed. On culturing for 21 days, hMG-63 in the GelMA/8PEGTA IPN showed a high cell viability (>90%). Thus, the presence of the photoinitiator, incubation with H2O2, and mechanical forces during printing did not hamper cell viability. This study shows that the GelMA/8PEGTA ink is a good candidate to generate cell-laden bioinks for extrusion-based printing of constructs for tissue engineering applications.

We study the tunable control of the non-Markovianity of a bosonic mode due to its coupling 1 to a set of auxiliary qubits, both embedded in a thermal reservoir. Specifically, we consider a cavity 2 mode coupled to auxiliary qubits described by the Tavis-Cummings model. As a figure of merit, 3 we define the dynamical non-Markovianity as the tendency of a system to return to its initial state, 4 instead of evolving monotonically to its steady state. We study how this dynamical non-Markovianity 5 can be manipulated in terms of the qubit frequency. We find that the control of the auxiliary systems 6 affects the cavity dynamics as an effective time-dependent decay rate. Finally, we show how this 7 tunable time-dependent decay rate can be tuned to engineer bosonic quantum memristors, involving 8 memory effects that are fundamental for developing neuromorphic quantum technologies., Comment: 13 pages and 8 figures

The predictive accuracy to treatment effect of immune therapy is still poor. Thus, we aimed to develop a predictive model based on gene mutations to assess the immunotherapeutic efficacy in non-small cell lung cancer. Then, 335 NSCLC patients treated with ICIs were included in our study. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression model, multivariable analysis, and Kaplan-Maire test were used in this study. In the end, we constructed a predictive model based on a 42-gene signature. Patients were classified into low-risk and high-risk groups based on risk scores generated from this model. Compared with patients in the high-risk group, patients in the low-risk group had better survival. The results were confirmed in an external validation cohort. Moreover, patients with high TMB and in the high-risk group could not benefit from ICIs. A predictive model of evaluating efficacy of immune therapy was developed and validated. The model is based on multiple genetic information and has clinical translational value.

Summary of Patients and Clinical Data.

Maternally expressed gene 3 (MEG3), a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), has tumor-suppressor properties and its expression is lost in several human tumors. However, its biological role in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) tumorigenesis is poorly defined. The present study determined the role and methylation status of MEG3 in esophageal cancer cells and ESCC clinical specimens, and further observed the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) activity of MEG3 in the pathogenesis and development of ESCC. Significant downregulation of MEG3 was detected in esophageal cancer cells and ESCC tissues and the expression level of MEG3 was significantly increased in cancer cells after treated with the DNA methyltransferase inhibitor 5-Aza-dC. Upregulation of MEG3 led to the inhibition of proliferation and invasiveness of the cancer cells. The aberrant promoter hypermethylation of MEG3 indicates silencing of its expression. Furthermore, MEG3 acts as a ceRNA to regulate the expression of E-cadherin and FOXO1 by binding hsa-miR-9. Upregulation of miR-9 was detected in esophageal cancer cell lines and ESCC tissues, and miR-9 promoted esophageal cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Finally, downregulation and hypermethylation of MEG3 was associated with ESCC patients' survival.Implications: MEG3 functions as a tumor-suppressive lncRNA and aberrant promoter hypermethylation is critical for MEG3 gene silencing in ESCC. In addition, MEG3 acts as a ceRNA to regulate expression of E-cadherin and FOXO1 by competitively binding miR-9 and may be used as a potential biomarker in predicting ESCC patients' progression and prognosis.
