Objective. Information products and services provided by academic libraries to support the educational process and research are a component of the information ecology of educational institutions, but their list within each academic library depends on the institutional ecology. Therefore, it is useful to study the practical experience of various academic libraries in ensuring the information ecology of research universities. As an example, we consider the successful experience of G. Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" (KPI Library). Methods. A qualitative method of longitudinal research was used to obtain data and analyze the KPI Library information services. A number of primary data sources were used, such as diaries of first-hand reflection, observations, engaged in documenting and developing a narrative about the effectiveness of interaction of students, lecturers, scientists with the information environment. Analytical and review, logical, systematic methods are applied to substantiate the place of library service in information ecology. Results. The experience of KPI Library in ensuring the information ecology of the university was studied. Ways of organizing prompt, effective and safe (ecological) interaction with users and support of internal information products and services are analyzed. It is shown which services (tools and information resources) and areas of activity of the library form the information ecology of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The role of the library in the formation of information culture and the culture of academic integrity of scientists, teachers and students of the university is shown. Conclusions. The considered example of KPI Library activity confirms that an academic library is directly involved in formation of the information ecology of a research university. A deeper analysis of the value of products and the effectiveness of library services for various members of the academic community as a component of the information ecology of the university may be the subject of further research., Мета. Інформаційні продукти та послуги, що надаються науковими бібліотеками для підтримки навчального процесу та наукових досліджень, є складовою інформаційної екології навчальних закладів, але їх перелік у межах кожної наукової бібліотеки залежить від інституційної екології. Тому корисним є вивчення практичного досвіду різних академічних бібліотек у забезпеченні інформаційної екології дослідницьких університетів. Як приклад розглянемо успішний досвід Науково-технічної бібліотеки ім. Г. І. Денисенка Національного технічного університету України "Київський політехнічний інститут імені Ігоря Сікорського" (Бібліотека КПІ). Методика. Для отримання даних та аналізу інформаційних послуг Бібліотеки КПІ використано якісний метод лонгітюдного дослідження. Використано низку первинних джерел даних, таких як щоденники безпосередньої рефлексії, спостереження, що включали документування та розробку наративу про ефективність взаємодії студентів, викладачів, науковців з інформаційним середовищем. Застосовано аналітико-оглядовий, логічний, системний методи для обґрунтування місця бібліотечного обслуговування в інформаційній екології. Результати. Вивчено досвід роботи Бібліотеки КПІ ім. Ігоря Сікорського щодо забезпечення інформаційної екології університету. Проаналізовано шляхи організації оперативної, ефективної та безпечної (екологічної) взаємодії з користувачами та підтримки внутрішніх інформаційних продуктів і сервісів. Показано, які послуги (інструменти та інформаційні ресурси) та напрями діяльності бібліотеки формують інформаційну екологію КПІ ім. Ігоря Сікорського. Показано роль бібліотеки у формуванні інформаційної культури та культури академічної доброчесності науковців, викладачів і студентів університету. Висновки. Розглянутий приклад діяльності Бібліотеки КПІ підтверджує, що академічна бібліотека бере безпосередню участь у формуванні інформаційної екології дослідницького університету. Більш глибокий аналіз цінності продуктів та ефективності бібліотечних послуг для різних членів академічної спільноти як складової інформаційної екології університету може бути предметом подальших досліджень.

The present paper tests a long-overlooked aspect of the association between school management and student mental health. Specifically, the question asked is whether and to what extent quality of information services is associated with students’ feelings of loneliness. Research on this relationship is almost inexistent—most probably because of the rather narrow conceptual framework within which loneliness research has been carried out. The present study attempts to fill this gap by looking at loneliness from a different conceptual angle, that of alienation, and from there to test a couple of hypotheses: (i) the significance of the relationship between quality of information services and student loneliness and (ii) the protective role of quality of informal student networks. Data from 439 undergraduate students from a Moroccan institution of higher education were used for the purpose. Both hypotheses were confirmed. Quality of information services, which a sweeping majority of students (64.2%) rated as unsatisfactory, was negatively associated with feelings of loneliness (β = -.17**, p < .01). To test the protective role of quality of student networks, a moderation analysis was conducted. Quality of student networks proved a significant moderator. Results and implication for educational management and future research directions are discussed.

Quality assurance (QA) is an important process in ensuring that systematic reviews and other evidence syntheses are supported by a high-quality search. This paper describes how the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the UK established a development pathway to ensure its information specialists had the skills, knowledge and confidence to undertake search QA. The key component of the pathway is that it blends technical knowledge with interpersonal skills. The pathway develops technical skills in the early steps before using peer support activities to build confidence while undertaking a range of searches. QA is effective when the search lead communicates the contextual information that has influenced search development. QA is treated as a collaboration to get the right search for the review. The key requirements for search QA, alongside technical knowledge, are communication, collaboration and negotiation skills.

Massage therapists are particularly exposed to constituents of massage preparations, wet work and mechanical strain and therefore, at high risk to develop occupational dermatitis (OD).To describe the sensitization spectrum of massage therapists with OD.In a retrospective study, patch test data of patients with OD (128 massage therapists and 24 374 patients working in other professions) collected by the Network of Departments of Dermatology (IVDK, 2008-2020) were analysed.Hand dermatitis (91.4%) and allergic contact dermatitis (34.4%) were common in massage therapists with OD. Most frequent were sensitizations to fragrances/essential oils which were found in 54 (42.2%) massage therapists and thus, more often than in other patients with OD. Concomitant positivity to several fragrances/essential oils was frequent. In 8 (14.8%) of the 54 massage therapists, sensitizations to fragrances/essential oils were not detected with the baseline series, but only with special fragrance series.Allergic contact dermatitis is common in massage therapists with OD and is mainly caused by fragrances and essential oils. Hence, massage therapists should be aware of this risk. When OD is suspected, not only the baseline series, but also special fragrance series should be patch tested in this occupational group.

This study seeks to determine the adequacy of legal information resources and services of law libraries in selected Nigerian universities. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The total of 252 postgraduate law students of 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 sets in the two federal universities in South-East formed the population. The entire population was used as the sample. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire and observation check-list. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics and percentages. Arithmetic mean was used to analyse data obtained from the research questions with scale value of 50%. The findings of the study revealed among others that the findings showed that legal information resources are available in the federal university law libraries in South-East, Nigeria, although more innovative services need to be established to be completely commensurate with the demands of the 21st century.

Cancer patients are facing a variety of treatment and other disease-related decisions. This study aims to provide insights into preferred and perceived participation roles in decision-making among patients with diverse tumors using the German Cancer Information Service (CIS).Patients' decision-making preferences and experiences were assessed as a part of a cross-sectional survey among CIS users. An adapted version of the Control Preferences Scale (CPS) was used to assess preferred and perceived participation roles in eight different areas of medical decision-making (e.g., choice of medication, termination of treatment). Logistic regression analyses were applied to explore preference matching and to analyze associations between participation roles and sociodemographic variables. Moreover, we examined preferences and perceptions of participation roles across different decision situations.In the final sample (N = 1566, 64.9% female, mean age = 61.6), almost half of the patients (47.1%) preferred to take a collaborative role in decisions on treatment methods, whereas 36.3% preferred an active role and 15.9% a passive role. Collaborative role preferences frequently (40.7%) coincided with experiencing a passive role and predicted a reduced chance of a match between preferences and experiences (OR = 0.57, p = .001). A higher level of education was associated with a lower chance of preferring and perceiving a passive role (OR = 0.85, p .01). Compared with men, women had increased odds of preferring (OR = 1.45, p .05) and of actually taking (OR = 2.04, p .001) a passive role in medical encounters. Preferred participation roles regarding treatment methods were highly correlated with preferences in all other decision areas (r .50, p .001) except decisions about family involvement.The study reveals well-known deficits in the fulfilment of patients' collaborative role preferences across different areas of medical decision-making in a sample of CIS users characterized by high information-seeking behavior. Participation roles were not only influenced by the patients' level of education but also by their gender. The gender effect may be more pronounced than previous studies suggest. These effects should be considered in the development of interventions to promote shared decision-making. Additionally, study results indicate that preferences for participation in decisions about treatment methods, as assessed by the CPS, can be generalized to other areas of medical decision-making.

Background: Diabetes is a leading cause of death that is responsible for 1.6 million annual deaths worldwide. However, the life expectancy and age at death of people with diabetes have been a matter of debate.Methods: The National Health Insurance Service claims database, merged with death records from the National Statistical Information Service in Korea from 2006 to 2018, was analyzed.Results: In total, 1,432,567 deaths were collected. The overall age at death increased by 0.44 and 0.26 year/year in the diabetes and control populations, respectively. This chapter describes how the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), under the leadership of Donald A.B. Lindberg M.D., promoted new and expanded roles for librarians and information specialists in response to advances in technology and public policy. These advances brought information services directly to all potential users, including health professionals and the public and stimulated NLM to expand its programs, policies, and services to serve all. Dr. Lindberg included librarians and information specialists in all of NLM’s new endeavors, helping both to recognize and establish new or expanded roles. The involvement of librarians and information specialists in multidisciplinary healthcare research teams, in underserved communities, and in research data management and compliance has helped to redefine the health sciences information profession for the 21st century.

Donald A.B. Lindberg M.D. was a strong proponent of self-improvement for all professions. He believed it was imperative for health sciences librarians to embrace lifelong learning as the Internet and networked information radically changed their work and opened new opportunities to increase their scope and impact. During Dr. Lindberg’s 1984–2015 tenure as its Director, the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) became an even more dominant influence on education and career development of health sciences librarians. This chapter focuses on the way NLM partnered with other institutions and organizations to ensure that education and training were consistently part of the roll-out of new NLM programs and services as they were implemented.

In many real-world applications, face recognition models often degenerate when training data (referred to as source domain) are different from testing data (referred to as target domain). To alleviate this mismatch caused by some factors like pose and skin tone, the utilization of pseudo-labels generated by clustering algorithms is an effective way in unsupervised domain adaptation. However, they always miss some hard positive samples. Supervision on pseudo-labeled samples attracts them towards their prototypes and would cause an intra-domain gap between pseudo-labeled samples and the remaining unlabeled samples within target domain, which results in the lack of discrimination in face recognition. In this paper, considering the particularity of face recognition, we propose a novel adversarial information network (AIN) to address it. First, a novel adversarial mutual information (MI) loss is proposed to alternately minimize MI with respect to the target classifier and maximize MI with respect to the feature extractor. By this min-max manner, the positions of target prototypes are adaptively modified which makes unlabeled images clustered more easily such that intra-domain gap can be mitigated. Second, to assist adversarial MI loss, we utilize a graph convolution network to predict linkage likelihoods between target data and generate pseudo-labels. It leverages valuable information in the context of nodes and can achieve more reliable results. The proposed method is evaluated under two scenarios, i.e., domain adaptation across poses and image conditions, and domain adaptation across faces with different skin tones. The objective is to build a synoptic frame of reference about the co-creation of value in informational services considering the user perspective, therefore improving the understanding of the co-creation process due to user actions. It is justified by the reduced number of related research and limited understanding of how the co-creation of value in libraries occurs, particularly considering the user's actions, since the studies tend to focus on the service provider. It is a theoretical essay, whose nature is conceptual and analytical. As a result, it is expected that the frame of reference presented contribute to the theoretical advance and further development of studies that allow the investigation of the processes/elements of co-creation of value by users., Objetiva-se construir um quadro sinótico de referência acerca da co-criação de valor em serviços informacionais sob a ótica dos usuários, com fins de fundamentos e constructos teóricos para a investigação destes processos. Justifica-se pela carência e insipiência no entendimento de como ocorre a co-criação de valor em bibliotecas, principalmente sobre o viés da participação do usuário, já que predominantemente os estudos se voltam para o provedor de serviços. Trata-se de um ensaio teórico, cuja natureza é conceitual e analítica. Como resultado, espera-se que o quadro de referência possa contribuir para o avanço teórico e desenvolvimento de estudos que permitam a investigação dos processos/elementos de co-criação de valor dos usuários.

This paper shows the effect of dgitalisation, which improves the governance, on size of informality. We build a simple model with heterogeneous labour markets where the productive firms meet the tax burden to produce in the formal sector and the rest manages to survive in the informal sector by incurring extra-legal cost to avoid tax burden. The difficulty to avoid the tax budget depends on the level of digitalisation, which requires public investment. The government faces a trade-off to spend between digitalisation and other public goods and services. The digitalisation that increases the chances of being caught the informal transactions encourages the formal activities directly. On the other hand, it demands higher taxation that works on the opposite direction. The relative strength of these two forces determines the size of informality. The positive relation between taxation and digitalization leads to result in an U-shape of informal size against the level of digitalization. The negative impact gets stronger under the improved governance with better rule of laws and judiciary system. If minimum wage or productivity are targeted to a higher level exogeneosly, it may result in higher informality. The econometric results from a cross-country panel data for around 148 countries for the period 1990-2017 confirm such conjectures.

Rationale of the study - The popularity of internet as an avenue of communication and source of information has led to decreasing numbers of in- person reference transaction in academic libraries. Consequently, academic libraries have embraced digital reference services in order to provide library and information services far and wide, ubiquitously, and in varied modes and formats. The choice of channels to provide digital reference is essential in that it determines the effectiveness and efficient of the service. Thus it was imperative to establish channels used by academic libraries in Kenya to provide digital reference services, by specifically looking at channels used, factors that inform the choice of the channels and effectiveness of the channels. Methodology - A descriptive research design and survey research methodology was used for the study. A questionnaire was used to collect data from heads of reference services in accredited and fully chartered academic libraries in Kenya. Purposive sampling was used to sample 19 university libraries that were offering digital reference out of 39 university libraries. Findings - Twitter, ask-a-librarian or email, facebook, and frequently asked questions (FAQS) are most popular channels for digital reference in academic libraries in Kenya. The least used channels are live chat while those never used include: Skype, instant messaging, and library digital reference consortiums. Factors that informed the choice of the digital reference channels were ease of use; availability; cost; popularity and software features. Support was the least considered factor. Implications - The findings will provide a reference point for other academic libraries considering offering digital reference service. Originality - This is an original research study.

Cyanide is a prevalent, lethal chemical. Possible sources of exposure include products of combustion, plant material, industry, chemical warfare and terrorism.Retrospective review of UK Poisons Information Database of telephone enquiries to the National Poisons Information Service between 1A total of 1,252 cases of suspected cyanide poisoning were identified, 239 (19%) involved children under 10 years. The commonest sources of exposure were ingestion of plant material (437 cases; 35%) and smoke inhalation (399; 32%). Smoke inhalation caused the majority of severe and fatal cases (139; 71%). Clinical features associated with fatal outcomes were cardiac arrest (OR 36.4; 95% CI 14.4-92.2), hypotension (15.8; 7.0-35.9), coma (10.8; 5.6-21.0) and lactic acidosis (7.8; 4.1-14.8). 110 patients (9%) were given an antidote and 40 patients (3%) died.Lactate concentrations correlate with Poisoning Severity Score category (Most cases of ingestion of plant material involved children under five years and resulted in no or mild symptoms. In adults smoke inhalation was associated with the most severe poisoning. The lactate cut-off values associated with each severity score calculated in this study are lower than the values used by NPIS on TOXBASE. Analytical conformation of cyanide exposure was unavailable in the majority of case, limiting the strength of these conclusions.

In June 1993, the National Library of Medicine (NLM) joined with the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Office of AIDS Research (OAR), and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to host a conference at a pivotal time in the HIV/AIDS epidemic to understand better the information needs of five major constituency groups: clinical researchers; clinical providers; news media and the public; patients; and the affected community. NLM’s director, Donald A.B. Lindberg M.D., and staff sought to identify new program possibilities benefitting from the input of current and potential users of the Library’s information services. Conference recommendations led to a key NLM policy change providing cost-free access to all AIDS data, and the establishment of the HIV/AIDS community information outreach program (ACIOP), which enabled new partnerships with local community-based organizations serving the affected community. Uniquely funded and long running, more than 300 ACIOP projects have been supported to-date. These projects have improved awareness and use of national HIV/AIDS information resources; enhanced information seeking skills; developed locally generated information resources; and enhanced the capacity of community-based organizations to use new information and computer technologies providing access to essential information resources and services.

Purpose Effective identification of electrical drivers within remodeled tissue is a key for improving ablation treatment for atrial fibrillation. We have developed a mutual information, graph-based approach to identify and propose fault tolerance metric of local efficiency as a distinguishing feature of rotational activation and remodeled atrial tissue. Methods Voltage data were extracted from atrial tissue simulations (2D Karma, 3D physiological, and the Multiscale Cardiac Simulation Framework (MSCSF)) using multi-spline open and parallel regional mapping catheter geometries. Graphs were generated based on varied mutual information thresholds between electrode pairs and the local efficiency for each graph was calculated. Results High-resolution mapping catheter geometries can distinguish between rotational and irregular activation patterns using the derivative of local efficiency as a function of increasing mutual information threshold. The derivative is decreased for rotational activation patterns comparing to irregular activations in both a simplified 2D model (0.0017 ± 1 × 10−4 vs. 0.0032 ± 1 × 10−4, p −5 vs. 0.0014 ± 4 × 10−5, p −5 vs. 0.0019 ± 6 × 10−5, p −5 vs. 0.0016 ± 4 × 10−5, p Conclusion A decreased derivative of local efficiency characterizes rotational activation and varies with atrial remodeling. This suggests a distinct communication pattern in cardiac rotational activation detectable via high-resolution regional mapping and could enable identification of electrical drivers for targeted ablation.

Exciting information on the functional roles played by long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) has drawn substantial research attention these days. With the advent of techniques such as RNA-Seq, thousands of lncRNAs are identified in very short time spans. However, due to the poor annotation rate, only a few of them are functionally characterised. The wet lab experiments to elucidate lncRNA functions are challenging, slow progressing and sometimes prohibitively expensive. This work attempts to solve the crucial problem of developing computational methods to predict lncRNA functions. The model presented here, predicts the functions of lncRNAs by making use of a meta-path based measure, AvgSim on a Heterogeneous Information Network (HIN). The network is constructed from existing protein and function association data of lncRNAs, lncRNA co-expression data and protein protein interaction data. Out of the 2,758 lncRNA considered for the experiment, the proposed method predicts possible functions for 2,695 lncRNAs with an accuracy of 73.68 percent and found to perform better than the other state-of-the-art approaches for an independent test set. A case study of two well-known lncRNAs (HOTAIR and H19) is conducted and the associated functions are identified. The results were validated using experimental evidence from the literature. This study investigates the usage of information sources and services by students at the Govt. Degree College, Billawar. A structured questionnaire was framed to collect data. A sample size of 300 students from the college was selected randomly out of which 250 students were given complete information regarding the survey. Questionnaires were distributed to the students personally by hand in order to get the maximum responses. The collected data was organized and interpreted by using a simple statistical method. RESUMO Introdução: o serviço de referência nas bibliotecas universitárias especializadas em saúde possui determinadas singularidades em razão das características do campo científico do campo das Ciências da Saúde, pela interface entre as práticas de ensino e a pesquisa científica, assim como pelo perfil geral e demandas por informação/evidências confiáveis por acadêmicos, docentes/pesquisadores e profissionais. Objetivo: apresentar e discutir as singularidades do serviço de referência nas bibliotecas universitárias especializadas em saúde, assim como os desafios/potencialidades da atuação bibliotecária nesse contexto. Método: O estudo, de caráter teórico, realizou pesquisa exploratória com pesquisa bibliográfica na literatura nacional e internacional da área de Biblioteconomia/Ciência da Informação. Resultados: Os resultados obtidos sinalizam que as singularidades do processo de trabalho nas bibliotecas universitárias são determinadas não apenas pelas idiossincrasias do pessoal da saúde, mas, sobretudo, pelo fato de a saúde humana (física e mental) ser o objeto de estudo e prática da área. Conclusão: Conclui-se que apesar dos desafios relacionados à formação bibliotecária no Brasil e do próprio desenvolvimento de competências/habilidades desejáveis e/ou requisitadas para atuação em saúde, tais elementos não se constituem como um óbice intransponível para a prática profissional com excelência. No entanto, o bibliotecário precisa reconhecer que tais variáveis são intervenientes em sua prática profissional e que a busca por aperfeiçoamento/especialização é uma demanda premente. ABSTRACT Introduction: the reference service in university libraries specialized in health has certain singularities due to the characteristics of the scientific field of the field of Health Sciences, the interface between teaching practices and scientific research, as well as the general profile and demands for information /reliable evidence by academics, professors/researchers and practitioners. Objective: to present and discuss the singularities of the reference service in university libraries specialized in health, as well as the challenges/potentialities of librarianship in this context. Method: The study, of theoretical character, carried out exploratory research with bibliographic research in national and international literature in the area of Librarianship/Information Science. Results: The results obtained indicate that the singularities of the work process in university libraries are determined not only by the idiosyncrasies of health personnel, but, above all, by the fact that human health (physical and mental) is the object of study and practice of area. Conclusion: It is concluded that despite the challenges related to library training in Brazil and the development of desirable and/or required skills/skills for health care, these elements do not constitute an insurmountable obstacle to professional practice with excellence. However, the librarian needs to recognize that such variables are intervening in their professional practice and that the search for improvement/specialization is a pressing demand

RESUMO Introdução: A co-criação de valor é fator relevante para o desenvolvimento de melhores serviços informacionais prestados por bibliotecas. Estes serviços carecem de reavaliações de processos que envolvem seus diversos participantes. A co-criação de valor oferece oportunidades para uma melhor integração entre prestador e utilizador dos serviços informacionais. Neste aspecto, questiona-se o como entender o envolvimento dos participantes neste processo. Objetivo: Construir um quadro teórico de referência que permita a investigação acerca dos processos de co-criação de valor em serviços informacionais sob a perspectiva do provedor de serviços (profissionais da informação/biblioteca). Justifica-se pela carência e insipiência no entendimento de como ocorre a co-criação de valor em bibliotecas, principalmente sobre os aspectos da prestação de serviços informacionais. Metodologia: Trata-se de um ensaio teórico, de natureza conceitual e analítica. Resultados: Por meio de revisões de literatura nacional e internacional foi possível delimitar o cenário do estudo, que resultou em uma estrutura de conexões, que possibilitou a construção do quadro de referência. Conclusão: Conclui-se que o quadro de referência possa contribuir para o avanço teórico e desenvolvimento de estudos que permitam a investigação dos processos/elementos de co-criação de valor dos usuários, e quiçá a construção de modelos e a gestão destes elementos. ABSTRACT Introduction: The co-creation of value is a relevant factor for the development of better informational services provided by libraries. These services require reassessments of processes that involve their various participants. The co-creation of value offers opportunities for better integration between provider and user of information services. In this aspect, the question is how to understand the participation of the participants in this process. Objective: The objective of this study is to build a theoretical framework that allows the investigation of the processes of co-creation of value in informational services from the perspective of the service provider (information professionals/library). It is justified by the lack and lack of understanding of how the co-creation of value in libraries occurs, mainly on the aspects of providing informational services. Methodology: It is a theoretical essay, of a conceptual and analytical nature. Results: As a result, through national and international literature reviews, it was possible to delimit the study scenario, which resulted in a structure of connections, which enabled the construction of the frame of reference. Conclusion: It is concluded that the frame of reference can contribute to the theoretical advance and development of studies that allow the investigation of the processes/elements of co-creation of value of the users, and perhaps the construction of models and the management of these elements.

ntroducción: Los procesos de enseñanza aprendizaje e investigación científica actualmente requieren de fuentes actualizadas y servicios de información altamente relevante a los investigadores. La Dirección de Información Científico Técnica de la Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas ha identificado como problemática la poca efectividad que tiene la información señal para la divulgación de nuevas fuentes de información adquiridas debido a la amplia diversidad de usuarios que atiende, específicamente los inmigrantes digitales. Objetivo: Diseñar un servicio de información a partir del criterio de los usuarios para satisfacer sus necesidades investigativas, científicas e informativas; potenciando su desarrollo. El estudio clasificó como aplicado debido. Métodos: Para la obtención de resultados se emplearon métodos en los niveles teórico y empírico, esencialmente una metodología para el diseño de ofertas de información. Resultados: Se diseñó el servicio de archivo vertical VERTIKALIST a partir de los criterios de los usuarios potenciales, empleando tanto el formato tradicional como virtual. Se concluyó que los inmigrantes digitales requieren de servicios de información que les posibilite su desarrollo como usuarios. Lo anterior permite minimizar la brecha digital debido a que este grupo social les ha tocado adaptarse a los nuevos cambios tecnológicos. Conclusiones: Los servicios de información centrados en los usuarios y diseñados a partir de la construcción colectiva con los mismos, favorecen la participación y la usabilidad. Los procesos de enseñanza e investigación científica requieren fuentes y servicios de información actualizados. La Dirección de Información y Documentación Científico Técnica de la Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas, Cuba; ha identificado como problemática la existencia de escasos servicios de información que satisfagan las necesidades de los inmigrantes digitales. Se plantearon como objetivos del estudio: 1) identificar los canales de información necesarios para intercambiar con el usuario sobre sus necesidades formativas e informativas y 2) diseñar un servicio de información y comunicación a partir del criterio de los usuarios para satisfacer sus necesidades investigativas, científicas e informativas de inmigrantes y nativos digitales.

W artykule przedstawiono ofertę usług informacyjnych i komunikacyjnych Biblioteki Głównej Akademii Marynarki Wojennej w Gdyni oraz możliwości ich wykorzystania w procesie kształcenia. Przybliżono termin kultury i przestrzeni informacyjnej. Zaprezentowano rozwój zasobów informacyjnych – zarówno tych tradycyjnych (drukowanych), jak i elektronicznych – oraz ukazano potrzeby i wymagania odbiorców informacji, jakim musi sprostać współczesna biblioteka akademicka. Objective.Information products and services provided by academic libraries to support the educational process and research are a component of the information ecology of educational institutions, but their list within each academic library depends on the institutional ecology. Therefore, it is useful to study the practical experience of various academic libraries in ensuring the information ecology of research universities. As an example, we consider the successful experience of G. Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" (KPI Library).Methods.A qualitative method of longitudinal research was used to obtain data and analyze the KPI Library information services. A number of primary data sources were used, such as diaries of first-hand reflection, observations, engaged in documenting and developing a narrative about the effectiveness of interaction of students, lecturers, scientists with the information environment. Analytical and review, logical, systematic methods are applied to substantiate the place of library service in information ecology.Results.The experience of KPI Library in ensuring the information ecology of the university was studied. Ways of organizing prompt, effective and safe (ecological) interaction with users and support of internal information products and services are analyzed. It is shown which services (tools and information resources) and areas of activity of the library form the information ecology of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The role of the library in the formation of information culture and the culture of academic integrity of scientists, teachers and students of the university is shown.Conclusions.The considered example of KPI Library activity confirms that an academic library is directly involved in formation of the information ecology of a research university. A deeper analysis of the value of products and the effectiveness of library services for various members of the academic community as a component of the information ecology of the university may be the subject of further research.

Research methodology. In the process of the study, general scientific methods such as hypothetical method, method of analysis and synthesis were used, which allowed the author to analyze the activities of media libraries in the educational context in terms of resource provision of the quality of the educational process. The scientific novelty of the research is to highlight modern approaches to the organization of innovative educational space with the involvement of information technology to provide quality information services aimed at educational and scientific activities. Conclusions. The educational component is a priority in the activities of libraries, so it is important to provide access to quality scientific and educational information. In addition to providing a wide range of information services, the library should be a space for communication between different social groups to promote education and implement the concept of lifelong learning. Thanks to the activities of the Ukrainian Library Association, which signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation to promote the development of digital literacy, a large number of libraries in Ukraine have become educational hubs for improving the digital skills of the population based on the platform Diia. Digital Education. Most Ukrainian libraries are implementing educational projects aimed at improving knowledge in various fields of science and culture. This article reviews and analyzes the domestic and foreign experience of media libraries as educational hubs aimed at creating and providing access to qualitatively new educational content., Метою статті є дослідження діяльності медіатек у розрізі провадження освітнього процесу, а також висвітлення сучасних інноваційних підходів до організації якісно нового освітнього простору. Методи дослідження. У процесі дослідження використано загальнонаукові методи, такі як гіпотетичний метод, метод аналізу та синтезу, що дало змогу авторові проаналізувати діяльність медіатек в освітньому контексті з погляду ресурсного забезпечення якості освітнього процесу. Наукова новизна дослідження полягає у висвітленні сучасних підходів до організації інноваційного освітнього простору із залученням інформаційних технологій для надання якісних інформаційних послуг, спрямованих на навчальну та наукову діяльність. The historic urban landscape (HUL) is the result of the continuous dynamic process of production, interaction, and accumulation. It is full of information from bygone years and remains to this day as a living witness of antiquity and a benefit to the contemporary public, both in mind and spirit. These intangible benefits, however, are easier to overlook than the tangible ones in conservation and management efforts that aim at sustainability. Therefore, we return to the prototype of the category “cultural services” in the ecosystem classification “information service” to evaluate these intangible benefits. The objectives of this study are: (1) to provide a methodological framework to assess the ability of the landscape to continuously provide information services in the historical process; (2) to analyze the drivers affecting HUL’s ability to continuously deliver information services, and then discuss the governance experience of HUL’s intangible dimensions for sustainability. First, we regard HUL as an object to learn from the experience of urban heritage governance: using the methods and tools of ecosystem service evaluation, this paper evaluates the intangible services that the public receives from the landscape over several consecutive historical periods, summarizes the dynamic changes in these services, and analyzes their drivers. Furthermore, we consider that the aforementioned intangible services are brought about in part by the spread of heritage information stored in HUL among specific people, and the continuous provision of information services is considered the sustainability of HUL in intangible dimensions. We use Yuexiu Hill in the center of Guangzhou, China, as a case study to verify the feasibility of our methodological framework by evaluating the information services provided by this ancient area with a construction history of 2000 years over five historical periods. The data needed for the evaluation of the information service was obtained through text mining by retrieving 1063 ancient Chinese poems related to Yuexiu Hill from the poetry database. The results obtained through this evaluation framework will provide a quantitative basis for planning, design, and decision making in small and medium-sized landscapes.

IntroductionCancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. In Korea, it is also a major public health problem. Cancer burden may increase significantly due to ageing population and changes in lifestyle. The features of reproductive factors have changed, which include increased age at first childbirth and decreased breastfeeding duration. This study aims to systematically summarise the association between modifiable reproductive factors and cancer incidence and mortality to provide evidence for planning strategies aimed at reducing cancer incidence and mortality in women.Methods and analysisA literature search was performed using the EMBASE, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library and Korean databases such as the Korean Studies Information Service System, Research Information Sharing Service, KoreaMED, Korean Medical Database, National Assembly Library and Korea Institute from their inception to 24 August 2022. We will include cohort studies addressing the associations between at least one of the reproductive factors and the incidence and mortality of all or specific cancers among Korean women. Two reviewers will screen the references, extract the data, and assess the risk of bias independently and in duplicates. Discrepancies will be resolved through discussion or consultation with a third-party reviewer. We will use the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation approach to evaluate the certainty of evidence. We will summarise the findings of the included systematic reviews through quantitative or narrative syntheses and present the summarised findings in tables.Ethics and disseminationEthical approval is not required, since we will use only the published data. We will disseminate the study findings in peer-reviewed publications.PROSPERO registration numberCRD42022356085.

Introduction: The co-creation of value is a relevant factor for the development of better informational services provided by libraries. These services require reassessments of processes that involve their various participants. The co-creation of value offers opportunities for better integration between provider and user of information services. In this aspect, the question is how to understand the participation of the participants in this process. Objective: The objective of this study is to build a theoretical framework that allows the investigation of the processes of co-creation of value in informational services from the perspective of the service provider (library and its professionals). It is justified by the lack and lack of understanding of how the co-creation of value in libraries occurs, mainly on the aspects of providing informational services. Methodology: It is a theoretical essay, of a conceptual and analytical nature. Results: As a result, through national and international literature reviews, it was possible to delimit the study scenario, which resulted in a structure of connections, which enabled the construction of the frame of reference. Estes serviços carecem de reavaliações de processos que envolvem seus diversos participantes. A co-criação de valor oferece oportunidades para uma melhor integração entre prestador e utilizador dos serviços informacionais. Neste aspecto, questiona-se o como entender a participação dos participantes neste processo. Objetivo: Construir um quadro teórico de referência que permita a investigação acerca dos processos de co-criação de valor em serviços informacionais sob a perspectiva do provedor de serviços (biblioteca e seus profissionais). Justifica-se pela carência e insipiência no entendimento de como ocorre a co-criação de valor em bibliotecas, principalmente sobre os aspectos da prestação de serviços informacionais. Metodologia: Trata-se de um ensaio teórico, de natureza conceitual e analítica. Resultados: Por meio de revisões de literatura nacional e internacional foi possível delimitar o cenário do estudo, que resultou em uma estrutura de conexões, que possibilitou a construção do quadro de referência. Conclusão: Conclui-se que o quadro de referência possa contribuir para o avanço teórico e desenvolvimento de estudos que permitam a investigação dos processos/elementos de co-criação de valor dos usuários, e quiçá a construção de modelos e a gestão destes elementos.

MotivationDiscovering the drug–target interactions (DTIs) is a crucial step in drug development such as the identification of drug side effects and drug repositioning. Since identifying DTIs by web-biological experiments is time-consuming and costly, many computational-based approaches have been proposed and have become an efficient manner to infer the potential interactions. Although extensive effort is invested to solve this task, the prediction accuracy still needs to be improved. More especially, heterogeneous network-based approaches do not fully consider the complex structure and rich semantic information in these heterogeneous networks. Therefore, it is still a challenge to predict DTIs efficiently.ResultsIn this study, we develop a novel method via Multiview heterogeneous information network embedding with Hierarchical Attention mechanisms to discover potential Drug–Target Interactions (MHADTI). Firstly, MHADTI constructs different similarity networks for drugs and targets by utilizing their multisource information. Combined with the known DTI network, three drug–target heterogeneous information networks (HINs) with different views are established. Secondly, MHADTI learns embeddings of drugs and targets from multiview HINs with hierarchical attention mechanisms, which include the node-level, semantic-level and graph-level attentions. Lastly, MHADTI employs the multilayer perceptron to predict DTIs with the learned deep feature representations. The hierarchical attention mechanisms could fully consider the importance of nodes, meta-paths and graphs in learning the feature representations of drugs and targets, which makes their embeddings more comprehensively. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that MHADTI performs better than other SOTA prediction models. Moreover, analysis of prediction results for some interested drugs and targets further indicates that MHADTI has advantages in discovering DTIs.Availability and implementationhttps://github.com/pxystudy/MHADTI

The aim of the study was to assess the predictive potential of mid-infrared (MIR) spectral response in the estimation of 60 soil properties. It is important to know the accuracy limitations in estimating various soil characteristics using various models in conditions of high spatial variability of the environment. To fully assess this potential, three types of algorithms were used in modeling, i.e., partial least squares (PLSR), one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1DCNN), and generalized regression neural network (GRNN). The research used data from 19 sub-Saharan African countries collected as part of the Africa Soil Information Service (AfSIS) Phase I project. The repositories provide 18,250 MIR reflectance recordings and nearly two thousand analytical data records from the determination of many soil properties by reference methods. The modeled subset of these properties included texture (three variables), bulk density, moisture content at soil water characteristic curves (SWCC, 4 variables), total and organic C and total N content (3 variables), total elemental content (32 variables), elemental content in bioavailable forms (12 variables), electrical conductivity, exchangeable acidity, exchangeable bases, pH, and phosphorus sorption index. It is not possible to indicate a universal optimal prediction model for all soil variables. The best prediction results are provided by all regression models for total and organic C, total Fe, total Al and bioavailable Al content, and pH. For bulk density, total N and total K content satisfactory results are provided by specific model type. Many other properties, i.e., texture, SWCC, total Ga, Rb, Na, Ca, Cu, Pb, Hg content, and bioavailable Ca and K content, can be predicted with accuracies sufficient for some less demanding tasks.

In 2015, the Italian Ministry of Education in Italy launched innovative upper school educational programmes envisaging school‐work initiatives. In this framework, the National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità, ISS) was among the first scientific institutions to develop educational programmes with school. Involving school students in health research activities allowed health literacy improvement, acquisition of scientific communication skills and fostered student interest in science careers. This article focuses on how health literacy and health promotion can be taught to school students through taking part in this programme. It is a multi‐disciplinary collaboration among different stakeholders—ISS tutors (researchers, information and communication experts), teachers and students. This collaborative initiative is a good example of ‘teaching and learning’ in action since all stakeholders could benefit from cross‐fertilisation in an informal educational context.

European pharmaceutical companies have a legal requirement to provide non-promotional Medical Information (MI) services to support healthcare professionals (HCPs) who are using their medicinal products. While the industry has self-regulating bodies with established Codes of Practice, these mainly focus on promotional messaging and commercial activities. In the absence of similar frameworks for MI, such services struggle to understand how to meet HCP digital expectations, often in fear of breaching the promotional codes. This is limiting access to the wealth of non-promotional patient-focussed information held within the industry. Meanwhile, a large volume of unregulated, low-quality information can be readily found on the internet. To understand the current status, the Medical Information Leaders in Europe (MILE) industry association performed a benchmarking survey which explored the online MI service provision of 13 mid-large pharmaceutical companies across Europe. This highlighted a great diversity in approach in terms of geographical coverage and content. Visibility and access for HCPs is complex, compromising online engagement and website utilisation. This MILE position paper highlights the critical need to establish a clear governance model, which empowers pharmaceutical company MI functions to provide unbranded, non-promotional, medicinal product information sources to support HCP online information needs. It is essential to build confidence, transparency and trust by establishing a practical quality framework with principles and standards for online MI services for HCPs.

This research aims to study the dimensions of implementation of data governance strategies in planning in order to provide information services of libraries of Islamic Azad University. The research is an analytical-survey study. The statistical population includes central libraries of Islamic Azad University’s branches in provincial centers (35 branches), their managers and librarians (155 individuals). The research findings revealed that librarians’ attitude toward seven components of providing information services in central libraries of Islamic Azad University including data quality, data usage, data standard, data security and data modeling do not have significant relationship with their educational level, academic major, and work experience while the component of data usage and data standard in educational level showed a significant relationship. Results of the study also showed that average feasibility for implementation of data governance strategies in providing information services was higher than that of average population. In addition, librarians evaluate feasibility for implementation of data governance strategies in data organization in central libraries of Islamic Azad University to be desirable which is higher than average level. Accordingly, the highest to lowest scores for the components include data usage, data process, data quality, data integrity, data security, data modeling and standard in service delivery. The results also show that libraries can largely implement these strategies. The impact of data governance on the organization of information resources leads to proper planning in academic libraries.

Introduction. Snakebite is recognised as a neglected tropical disease and a cause of substantial morbidity and mortality. Whilst the most medically important snakes are typically native of Asia, Africa, Latin America and Oceania, the possibility of encountering these snakes is no longer limited by geography due to an increasing number of exotic (non-native) snakes being held in captivity. Methods. A retrospective review of snakebite enquiries to the UK National Poisons Information Service (NPIS) between 2009 and 2020. Enquiries about the European adder (Vipera berus) or where the identity of the snake was unknown were excluded. Results. There were 321 exotic snakebites in 300 patients involving 68 different species during this period. Ten patients were bitten on more than one occasion. The majority of patients (64.5%) were male. Most bites were inflicted by snakes of the family Colubridae (184/321, 57.3%); seventeen bites resulted in moderate symptoms (predominantly swelling of the bitten limb). There were 30 (9.3%) bites by Viperidae and 14 (4.3%) bites by Elapidae. All severe cases (n=15) resulted from bites by either Viperidae (n=10) or Elapidae (n=5). Antivenom was given in 17 cases. One fatality was recorded. Conclusions. Despite their low incidence, exotic snakebites present a substantial challenge for UK healthcare professionals. Although rare, these bites typically occur in individuals (usually male) who keep snakes as part of their occupation or hobby and are therefore at risk of multiple bites. Bites can result in venom hypersensitisation and the risk of venom-induced anaphylaxis. Rapid access to expert clinical advice is available in the UK on a 24-hour basis through the National Poisons Information Service and is strongly recommended in all cases of exotic snakebite.

The aim of this study was to evaluate media monitoring service, formalized in print media clipping, based on the analysis of information behavior of users in organizations in Minas Gerais. We sought to identify information needs of users and the use of information found in clippings. The sample consisted of 16 private, public and non-governmental organizations, representatives of the three sectors of economy. We used the Sense-Making approach, under the trinomial situation-gap-use. The users we consulted, without distinction, understood the meaning of business information, confirming that clipping helps them make decisions or solve problems. The study suggests the development of tools for periodic service evaluation with the aim of increasing levels of use and confidence of users. O estudo avalia o serviço de monitoramento de notícias, formalizado no clipping de mídia impressa, com base na análise docomportamento informacional de usuários alocados em organizações com atuação em Minas Gerais. Buscou-se identificar asnecessidades de informação dos usuários e o uso das informações consultadas no clipping. A amostra foi constituída de 16 organizações privadas, públicas e não governamentais, atuantes nos três setores da economia. Utilizou-se a abordagem Sense-Making, sob o trinômio situação-lacuna-uso. Os usuários consultados, sem distinção, entendiam o significado de informação para negócios, confirmando que o clipping os auxiliava a tomar decisões e a solucionar problemas. Sugere-se a criação de instrumentosperiódicos de avaliação do serviço, com o intuito de ampliar os níveis de uso e confiabilidade por parte dos usuários.

BackgroundMotherSafe is a free telephone-based counseling service for Australian consumers and health-care providers concerned about drug exposures during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Anti-infectives are the most commonly prescribed drugs for pregnant women. This study aims to provide a retrospective, descriptive analysis of prospectively collected calls received by MotherSafe regarding anti-infective exposures during pregnancy between 2000 and 2020. Aggregate data were examined by type of caller, reason for call, pregnancy category and exposure type. Inductive thematic analysis of the comments recorded by MotherSafe counsellors at the time of call was undertaken.ResultsOver the study period, 25,890 calls related to exposure to anti-infectives during pregnancy (antibiotic, antiviral, and antifungal medications). Calls from patients were dominated by low-risk exposures (pregnancy category A) to drugs while calls from health care professionals related to drugs with limited human information (pregnancy category B3). Analysis of MotherSafe counsellor comments revealed over 200 instances of concerns relating to health care professional advice to the patient. Three themes emerged: incorrect or conflicting advice, poor counselling, and refusal to treat, prescribe or dispense. It is likely that these comments are biased to the negative as patients would not call MotherSafe if they were happy with HCP advice. However, the findings are concerning as they reveal an underlying lack of knowledge in some health care professionals which may have led to undertreatment of patients. This study reinforced the importance of Teratogen Information Services such as MotherSafe in providing counselling and clear communication of evidence-based information to guide decision-making, reducing potential emotional distress in pregnant women, and optimizing maternal, pregnancy and infant outcomes.

The aim of the article is to highlight the main trends in the development and implementation of information and communication technology in the library service system of the world’s leading countries. The research methodology is based on the integrated use of general scientific and structural-functional methods. To clarify the evolution of information and communication strategies in library practice, there is a social communication approach, special historical methods. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the comprehensive generalisation of new information and library services used in multiple countries. Conclusions. Among the priority tasks of foreign libraries, there is the creation of their e-products, development of search information strategies, solving problems of digitisation of documents, and introduction of innovative means of information. Leadership in the development of communication technologies belongs to US libraries, which in the 1970s implemented the first projects to inform the library process, digitise holdings and create e-libraries. Among European countries, information and communication technology is being intensively implemented in libraries of Germany, Sweden and Denmark. The concept of the machinery of information flows has developed rapidly in the East, especially in libraries in China, Japan and Korea. Ukraine is actively using international electronic databases to build its strategy for library informatisation. At this stage, the task is to create integrated global information resources based on corporate activities of libraries for the accumulation, storage and dissemination of information flows, and development of effective search engines and information services for users., Мета статті – висвітлити основні тенденції розвитку та впровадження інформаційно-комунікаційних технологій у системі бібліотечного обслуговування провідних країн світу. Методологія дослідження ґрунтується на комплексному використанні загальнонаукових та структурно-функціональних методів. Для з’ясування еволюції інформаційно-комунікаційних стратегій у бібліотечній практиці використано соціально-комунікаційний підхід, спеціальні історичні методи. Наукова новизна дослідження полягає в комплексному узагальненні сучасних інформаційно-бібліотечних послуг, що застосовуються в різних країнах світу. Висновки. Серед пріоритетних завдань зарубіжних бібліотек – створення власних електронних продуктів, розробка пошукових інформаційних стратегій, вирішення проблем оцифрування документів, впровадження інноваційних засобів інформування. Лідерство в розробці комунікаційних технологій належить бібліотекам США, які в 70-х роках минулого століття реалізували перші проєкти з інформатизації бібліотечних процесів, оцифрування фондів та створення електронних бібліотек. Серед європейських країн інформаційно-комунікаційні технології інтенсивно впроваджуються в бібліотеках Німеччини, Швеції та Данії. Концепція технологізації інформаційних потоків отримала стрімкий розвиток у країнах Сходу, насамперед у бібліотеках Китаю, Японії та Кореї. Україна на шляху розроблення власної стратегії інформатизації бібліотечної справи активно використовує міжнародні електронні бази даних. На цьому етапі стоїть завдання створення інтегрованих глобальних інформаційних ресурсів на основі корпоративної діяльності бібліотек із накопичення, зберігання та поширення інформаційних потоків, розробки ефективних пошукових систем та інформаційних сервісів для користувачів.

Background Online information about safety of medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding is shown to be conflicting, resulting in anxiety and abstaining from use. The aim of this study was to characterize questions to SafeMotherMedicine, a web-based medicines information service for pregnant and breastfeeding women, to identify target areas that could guide subsequent development of medicines information directed at pregnant and breastfeeding women. Methods The SafeMotherMedicine database contains all questions received through the web-based service and their corresponding answers. A retrospective database analysis of questions received from January 2016 to September 2018 was performed, using descriptive statistics. Results A total of 11 618 questions were received including 5 985 questions (51.5%) concerning pregnancy, 4 878 questions (42.0%) concerning breastfeeding, and 755 questions (6.5%) concerning both conditions. The medications in question represented all therapeutic groups with paracetamol (7.0%), ibuprofen (4.1%), cetirizine (3.3%), desloratadine (3.2%) and meclizine (2.8%) being the top five. The 20 medications most frequently asked about for either pregnancy, breastfeeding or both pregnancy and breastfeeding, constituted half of all questions and were used to identify target areas. These included both symptomatic relief of common complaints, such as pain, nausea, and rhinitis, as well as treatment of chronic conditions such as allergy, psychiatric disorders, and asthma. Analysis of a subset of questions showed that most of these questions were asked before use of medications in a current pregnancy (49%) or during breastfeeding (72%). The questions concerned use of medications in all stages of pregnancy and breastfeeding. For 81.6% of the questions concerning pregnancy, and for 84.2% of the questions concerning breastfeeding, information of no or low risk for the foetus or the breastfed infant was provided by SafeMotherMedicine. Conclusions We found that target areas for medicines information directed at pregnant and breastfeeding women included both symptomatic relief of common complaints as well as treatment of chronic conditions. The questions concerned a wide range of medications and involved use in all stages of pregnancy and breastfeeding. Our findings indicate that developing medicines information addressing the identified target areas will meet the information need for a large proportion of this patient group.

In seeking knowledge it is impossible to be separated from a person's basic assumptions where of course there must be basic assumptions or assumptions about something. Assumptions can be interpreted as conjectures that are accepted as the basis or foundation for thinking because they are considered true, while assumptions in the philosophy of science are assumptions or basic suppositions about the reality of an object which become a study or foundation for the preparation of scientific knowledge needed in the development of science as well as in the process of giving information service. Because in the information service process a counselor needs rational and critical thinking as well as empirical knowledge and intuition so that the services provided can be received effectively. This type of research is a literature study by utilizing articles or journals related to basic scientific assumptions in the information service process., Dalam mencari suatu ilmu itu tidak mungkin terlepas dari suatu asumsi dasar seseorang dimana itu tentu saja harus ada asumsi atau anggapan dasar tentang sesuatu. Asumsi dapat diartikan sebagai dugaan yang diterima sebagai dasar atau landasan berfikir karena dianggap benar sedangkan asumsi dalam filsafat ilmu ini yaitu anggapan atau andaian dasar tentang realitas suatu objek yang menjadi penelaahan atau pondasi bagi penyusunan bagi pengetahuan ilmiah yang diperlukan dalam pengembangan ilmu begitu juga dalam proses pemberian layanan informasi. Karena dalam proses layanan infromasi seorang konselor di perlukan pikiran yang rasional dan kritis serta pengetahuan empiris dan intuisi sehingga layanan yang di berikan dapat di terima dengan efektif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah studi kepustakaan dengan memanfaatkan artikel atau jurnal yang terkait dengan asumsi dasar keilmuan dalam proses layanan informasi.

Background Unintentional carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning poses a public health challenge. The UK National Poisons Information Service (NPIS) provides advice to healthcare professionals via the online database, TOXBASE®, and a 24-hour telephone line. Our aim was to analyse all CO-related enquiries to the NPIS. Methods We analysed enquiries regarding unintentional CO exposure (1st July 2015-30th June 2019). Information on patient demographics, CO source and location, clinical features and poisoning severity was collected from telephone enquiries and TOXBASE accesses. Results 2970 unintentional non-fire-related CO exposures were reported. Exposures occurred commonly in the home (60%) with faulty boilers frequently implicated (27.4%). Although five fatalities were reported, 68.7% of patients experienced no or minor symptoms only (headache most frequently reported). Despite being the gold standard measurement, blood carboxyhaemoglobin concentration was only recorded in 25.6% patients, with no statistically significant correlation with severity. Conclusions Unintentional CO exposures in the UK commonly occur in domestic settings and although are generally of low severity, fatalities continue to occur. Carboxyhaemoglobin measurement is important to confirm exposure but further work is required to assess its validity as a prognostic indicator in CO exposure. Public health policy should continue to focus on raising awareness of the dangers of CO.

Thematic cooperative health research networks (RETICS) are organizational structures promoted by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III of the Spanish Ministry of Science with the objective of carrying out cooperative research projects addressing challenges of general interest for society as a whole in the field of health care. The RETICS of Asthma, Adverse Drug Reactions, and Allergy (ARADyAL) received funding in 2016 for a 5-year program (2017-2021). ARADyAL integrates basic and clinical research in the areas of allergy, immunology, genetics, nanomedicine, pharmacology, and chemistry, with special interest in research on new biomarkers and the design and evaluation of new interventions for allergic patients with severe phenotypes. The consortium comprises 28 groups across Spain, including 171 clinical and basic researchers, 17 clinical groups that cover more than 10 000 000 patients of all ages from urban and rural areas and 11 basic groups active mostly at universities and research institutes. ARADyAL has proposed a research program organized into 3 different areas focusing on precision medicine, as follows: Program 1, Mechanisms and prediction of adverse drug reactions and allergic diseases; Program 2, Toward a precise diagnosis of allergic diseases; and Program 3, Predicting interventions in allergic diseases. There is also 1 common program dedicated to training. The network has a Steering Committee and an External Advisory Scientific Committee, which advise the global network coordinator, who has recognized expertise in the field. ARADyAL is a unique meeting point for clinicians and basic scientists who are already working in allergy.

Objective: In 2018, the Network of the National Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) launched a sponsorship program to support public library staff in completing the Medical Library Association’s Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS). The objectives of our study were to: (1) determine whether completion of the sponsored specialization improved ability to provide consumer health information; (2) identify new health information services, programming, and outreach activities at public libraries; (3) investigate benefits of the specialization; and (4) determine the impact of sponsorship on obtaining and continuing the specialization.Methods: We used REDCap to administer a 16-question survey in August 2019 to 224 public library staff who were sponsored during the first year of the program. We measured competence in providing consumer health information aligned with the eight Core Competencies for Providing Consumer Health Information Services [1] as well as new activities at public libraries, benefits of the specialization to public library staff, career gains, and the likelihood of continuing the specialization based on funding.Results: More than 80% of 136 participants reported an increase in core consumer health competencies, with a statistically significant improvement in mean competency scores after completing the specialization. Ninety percent of participants have continued their engagement with NNLM, and more than half offered new health information programs and services. While more than half planned to renew the specialization or obtain the Level II specialization, 72% indicated they would not continue without NNLM sponsorship.Conclusions: Findings indicate that NNLM sponsorship of the CHIS specialization was successful in increasing the capacity of public library staff to provide health information to their communities.

PurposeThe subject of this paper is the idea of Brain–Computer Interface (BCI). The main goal is to assess the potential impact of BCI on the design, use and evaluation of information retrieval systems operating in libraries.Design/methodology/approachThe method of literature review was used to establish the state of research. The search according to accepted queries was carried out in the Scopus database and complementary in Google Scholar. To determine the state of research on BCI on the basis of library and information science, a specialist LISTA abstract database was also searched. The most current papers published in the years 2015–2019 in the English language or having at least an abstract in this language were taken into account.FindingsThe analysis showed that BCI issues are extremely popular in subject literature from various fields, mainly computer science, but practically does not occur in the context of using this technology in information retrieval systems.Research limitations/implicationsDue to the fact that BCI solutions are not yet implemented in libraries and are rarely the subject of scientific considerations in the field of library and information science, this article is mainly based on literature from other disciplines. The goal was to consider how much BCI solutions can affect library information retrieval systems. The considerations presented in this article are theoretical in nature due to the lack of empirical materials on which to base. The author's assumption was to initiate a discussion about BCI on the basis of library and information science, not to propose final solutions.Practical implicationsThe results can be widely used in practice as a framework for the implementation of BCI in libraries.Social implicationsThe article can help to facilitate the debate on the role of implementing new technologies in libraries.Originality/valueThe problem of BCI is very rarely addressed in the subject literature in the field of library and information science.

Throughout the long history of urban expansion and development, some of the natural mountains, lakes, and rivers that were once located on the outskirts of a city have gradually been encircled within it and have become nature in the urban, i.e., they are now in the heart of the city. These are not only green infrastructure for contemporary cities; they have also accumulated a rich cultural heritage and are closely related to the physical health and subjective well-being of city dwellers. The objectives of this study were: (1) to identify the no-material services that the public perceives from UGSs throughout history that contribute to subjective well-being; (2) to analyze which landscape elements are associated with the provision of such services and then to clarify the value of UGSs throughout history and provide a theoretical basis for urban managers. We returned to the original concept of cultural services (information services) to understand how UGSs throughout history, as information sources, have provided subjective well-being to specific groups of people. And we build a classification system for information services based on this understanding. Based on existing research methods on cultural services, we found that collecting information carriers such as texts, images, and interview transcripts is a more effective way to identifying the intangible services provided by a landscape than monetary methods. From understanding of the information communication process, we attempted to integrate the supply and demand indicators of information services. We validated the feasibility of the method of information service identification using Yuexiu Hill in Guangzhou, which has a construction history of 2000 years, as an example. Through the word frequency statistics of 1063 ancient poems (a type of information carrier), elements of the historical landscape of Yuexiu Hill and the information services provided in the past were identified. After that, semantic networks were constructed to analyze the association between elements and services. The results of this study show that information service identification is an effective method of analyzing the effect of the promotion of UGSs throughout history on the subjective well-being of the public. The provision of information services depends on the accumulation and dissemination of environmental information; both natural and cultural elements, especially symbolic elements, play an important role in this process.

本稿では公共図書館における情報リテラシー教育を巡る建設的な議論に耐える概念的枠組みの提出を目的とし，公共図書館における情報リテラシー・情報リテラシー教育・利用教育を取り上げるレビュー13件を対象に分析を行った。各概念を２つの観点から整理した結果，情報リテラシー教育の教育形態については，直接－フォーマル（集団）－サービス，直接－ノンフォーマル・インフォーマル（個別）－サービス，間接サービスの３つに，教育内容については，利用教育として学ぶ内容，図書館で学ぶべき情報リテラシー，図書館で教わらない情報リテラシーの３つにそれぞれ分割できることを示した。このような枠組みが提起する議論を展望として示した。, This paper submit a conceptual framework which can withstand constructive discussions on information literacy education in japanese public libraries. The researcher analyzed 13 reviews on information literacy, information literacy education, and library use education. Each concept summarized was organized from two perspectives: How information literacy education implement is distinguished public formal service, public nonformal or informal service, and technical service; and what information literacy education provide is distinguished contents of library use education, information literacy learned in japanese public libraries, and information literacy that is not taught in japanese public libraries. The researcher presented a perspective on what kind of discussion such a conceptual framework might raise.
