We report on measurements of angle‐differential electron impact 6S → 6P and 6S → 5D excitation of the Cs atom in the intermediate‐energy region from 4 eV to 25 eV. With our spin‐polarized beams we could obtain results for three spin‐asymmetry functions and for the relative excitation cross section in the angular range from 40° to 140°. Data were collected at 12 different impact energies. For comparison with theory we simulate the response of our detector to the input values of the theoretical cross sections for the P1/2,P3/2,D3/2 and D5/2 fine‐structure states. For this, data of recent theoretical treatments which use either the relativistic R‐matrix method or the convergent close‐coupling method are available. We present results for an energy of 10 eV.
