There are few educational programs in the United States that have a primary focus on preparing nurses to engage in all levels of public health, health policy, and climate change. The United Nations sustainability development goals (SDG) and the Future of Nursing 2020–2030: Charting a Path to Achieve Health Equity (2021) report underscored the importance of key stakeholders, including nurses, engaging in advocacy and policy to promote health equity. We discuss the role of nursing at the intersection of public health, policy, climate change, and the SDG. We also discuss the history and merger of the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Nursing public health and health policy specialties, a significant innovation in our effort to promote health equity. We provide a brief overview of the redesigning of our curriculum that meets the needs of today’s learners by including content on climate change, data analytics, and racial, social, and environmental justice. Finally, we emphasize the need to train the next cadre of nurses interested in careers in public health and health policy for us to meet the challenges facing our communities. OBJECTIVES: 'Overweight and obesity' is the second biggest preventable cause of cancer after smoking. In 2018, Cancer Research UK launched an awareness raising campaign about the link between overweight and obesity and cancer risk. This study aimed to evaluate the reach and impact of the campaign. STUDY DESIGN: This study was a repeated cross-sectional online survey. METHODS: The campaign consisted of six elements including the main message that 'Obesity is a cause of cancer'. UK adults and Members of Parliament (MPs) were surveyed before the campaign (W1; n = 2124 and n = 151), 1 month (W2; n = 2050 and n = 151) and 3 months after the campaign (W3; n = 2059 and MPs not surveyed). Outcome measures were campaign reach, awareness of overweight and obesity as risk factors for cancer, attitudes towards individuals who are overweight or obese, support for policies to reduce obesity and reactions to the campaign. RESULTS: Overall, 76.2% of MPs and just under half of the public (47.5% in W2 and 36.8% in W3) reported having seen the campaign. Unprompted awareness of obesity as a risk factor increased among the public from 17.1% at W1 to 43.3% in W2 (odds ratio 3.71, 95% confidence interval 3.18-4.33) and 30.3% in W3 (odds ratio 2.11, 95% confidence interval 1.80-2.47). A similar pattern was seen for prompted awareness and among MPs. There were no consistent changes in attitudes towards overweight individuals or support for policies to reduce obesity. CONCLUSIONS: This evaluation suggests that the campaign achieved the primary objective of increasing awareness of the link between obesity and cancer without increasing negative attitudes towards individuals who are overweight or obese.

Organizations offer activities and programmes to improve their employees' health. These workplace health promotion (WHP) activities usually have an individualized and top-down focus, a low uptake among employees, and are perceived to be out of line with employees' experiences and definitions of health. This paper follows up on studies that have broadened the focus of WHP by including social relations and delves deeper into how daily practices and experiences of (un)belonging at work relate to workplace health. Based on ethnographic research in two companies in the Netherlands, this paper analyses how (un)belonging is expressed and experienced by employees. The paper shows that employees define health at work as a social practice. It also demonstrates how dynamics at work shape different dimensions of (un)belonging that, in turn, affect employees' perceived health at work. These findings indicate the importance of including (un)belonging in the workplace as an ingredient of WHP.

本研究では,青年期における COVID-19(新型コロナウィルス感染症)パンデミックに伴う食生活,運動,睡眠,スクリーンタイムなどライフスタイルの変化を検討するため,計 87 名の大学生ないし一般社会人を対象として,Web 形式による質問調査を実施した。分析の結果,食生活,食習慣および嗜好品については,「食事回数(日)」,「朝食摂取」,「コーヒー摂取」はパンデミック前に比べてパンデミック中に増え,「二人以上との食事」,「外食」は減少していた。「塩分」,「糖分」,「タンパク質」の摂取に対する意識は,パンデミック後に好ましい傾向を示していた。運動,睡眠,生活関係については,「夜間覚醒」の頻度,「常用薬」の種類,「サプリメント」の種類,の全てがパンデミック中に増加した一方,「外出」は減少していた。「スクリーンタイム」は,平日および休日とも,パンデミック前に比べてパンデミック中に増えていた。以上により,パンデミックによる健康や生活への影響は,青年期においても相応に発生していることが示唆された。適宜,これらについて評価,検討を蓄積することは,青年期におけるヘルスプロモーションの推進上,意義深いと考えられた。その他,今後の検討課題について述べた。, To investigate the actual statuses of lifestyle changes during the coronavirus disease(COVID-19), an web survey was conducted among 87 youth population. 87 individuals (77 female students) participated in present survey, yielding an effective response rate of 100%. As the result, “the number of meal (/day)", “breakfast intake", and “coffee consumption (/day)" increased in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic,while frequency of “dinning with more than two people" and “eat out" decreased. And, consciousness to “salt", “lipid", and “protain" intakes changed to desirable direction, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to,responses of “nocturnal awakening", “types of medicines",“supplement intake" increased in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic. Aldo, screen times (/day) in both weekday and holiday during the COVID-19 pandemic increased. In conclusion, this study revealed that during COVID-19 restrictions, lifestyle habits were fluctuated among a present subjects. In the future, accumulating the epidemiological findings with regard to the influence of COVID-19 pandemic on lifestyle habits is meaningful for health promotion among youth.

Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é mapear estratégias de promoção, proteção e apoio direcionadas às mulheres trabalhadoras que amamentam e o seu potencial impacto para alcançar os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), em particular os ODS 5 (igualdade de gênero e empoderamento da mulher) e 8 (trabalho decente e crescimento econômico). Revisão de escopo baseada no referencial do JBI (Joanna Briggs Institute), cujas buscas foram realizadas nas bases de dados PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Social Science Research Network e Open Knowledge Repository. Obtiveram-se 576 publicações, destas, 33 foram incluídas no estudo. A síntese narrativa foi organizada em três eixos: 1) promoção; 2) proteção; e 3) apoio ao aleitamento materno no contexto do trabalho. As ações voltadas às mulheres que amamentam no trabalho têm potencial para atingir diretamente os ODS 5 e 8, e atingem indiretamente os ODS 1 e 10. O aumento das taxas de amamentação contribui para atingir outros quatro ODS (2,3,4,12). As ações voltadas às mulheres trabalhadoras que amamentam podem contribuir direta e indiretamente para o alcance de oito dos 17 ODS, devendo, portanto, ser incentivadas e reforçadas. Abstract This article aims to map promotion, protection, and support strategies aimed at working women who breastfeed and their potential impact on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular SDGs 5 (gender equality and women’s empowerment) and 8 (decent work and economic growth). This study is a scoping review based on the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) framework, whose searches were performed in PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Social Science Research Network, and Open Knowledge Repository databases. This study’s search obtained 576 publications, of which 33 were included in the study. The narrative synthesis was organized into three axes: 1) promotion; 2) protection, and 3) support for breastfeeding in the work context. Actions aimed at women who breastfeed at work have the potential to directly achieve SDGs 5 and 8, and indirectly achieve SDGs 1 and 10. Increased breastfeeding rates also help to achieve another four SDGs (2, 3, 4, 12). Actions aimed at working women who breastfeed can contribute directly and indirectly to the achievement of eight of the 17 SDGs, and should therefore be encouraged and reinforced.

The aim of this study was to analyze the trend of severe obesity in the capitals of the Brazilian states and the Federal District, from 2006 to 2021. For this purpose, a time-series, population-based, observational study was designed using data from the VIGITEL Survey. The dependent variable of this study was the prevalence of severe obesity, which was defined as a body mass index ≥ 40 kg/m2. Time series analysis was conducted using Joinpoint Regression Analysis Software v.4.9.1.0. In this study, a normal distribution was assumed, and the average annual percentage change (AAPC) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were presented. In total, 778,445 individuals participated in the study (38.2% were male and 61.8% were female). The prevalence of severe obesity has increased from 1.1% in 2006 to 1.9% in 2021. The average annual percentage change indicates an upward trend for the period (AAPC: 4.7; 95% CI: 3.8; 5.7). When stratifying the trend of severe obesity by sex, a significant upward trend was observed for females (AAPC: 4.3; 95% CI: 1.9; 6.8). There was a significant upward trend for all age groups, skin colors, and education levels. However, the older age groups and those with less education had lower AAPC.

Structural racism embodies the many ways in which society fosters racial discrimination through "mutually reinforcing inequitable systems" that limit access to resources and opportunities that can promote health and well being among marginalized communities. To achieve health equity, and kidney health equity more specifically, structural racism must be eliminated. In February 2022, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases convened the "Designing Interventions that Address Structural Racism to Reduce Kidney Health Disparities" workshop, which was aimed at describing the mechanisms through which structural racism contributes to health and health care disparities for people along the continuum of kidney disease and identifying actionable opportunities for interventional research focused on dismantling or addressing the effects of structural racism. Our objective was to systematically adapt Interrupting Prolonged sitting with ACTivity (InPACT), a classroom-based physical activity intervention, for home delivery to equitably increase access to structured youth physical activity opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Key steps in the rapid-cycle research adaptation process included: (Step 1) identifying partner organizations; (Steps 2 and 3) engaging in problem and knowledge exploration to examine the problem from different perspectives; (Steps 4 and 5) initiating solution development and testing by selecting an intervention and adapting the format and content for home delivery. Using Rapid RE-AIM to guide online assessment and refinement of InPACT at Home; and (Step 6) utilizing dissemination strategies to extend the reach of the program. Core elements of the InPACT program that were retained included: the use of exercise videos, maintenance of the intervention dose, and teacher-led physical activities. Key adaptations included: utilization of physical education specialists to develop the exercise videos, incorporation of health messaging in videos, and utilization of dissemination strategies (intervention website) to reach K-12 students across the state. Intervention website reach included all 83 counties in Michigan, but goals were not met for website pageviews (5,147; 85% of goal) and video view duration (7 min 19 sec; 37% of goal). Accordingly, dissemination was expanded to include public television broadcasting (monthly viewers: 500,000) and videos were shortened to 8 minutes. Dissemination and implementation science frameworks guided the rapid adaptation of an existing intervention, InPACT, to equitably increase access to structured youth physical activity opportunities at home during the pandemic.

Adolescents and young adults working in agriculture are at greater risk of injury. We describe the development of an online safety and health training for people who hire, teach, or supervise young agricultural workers. The online training targeted specific skills supervisors can use to effectively supervise, train, and communicate with young workers about health and safety hazards that impact injury risk. Consistent with NIOSH's evidence-based Total Worker Health® approach, the training integrated safety and health promotion and was also informed by behavioral change theories. An iterative approach was used to develop and evaluate the training. A content review provided feedback on topics and organization of material. Safety and health experts assessed the revised training content and rated the training topics on clarity, accuracy, and completeness. Finally, a pilot study with employers and health and safety professionals was used to evaluate the training materials. The content review suggested ways to reorganize the material to improve flow and reduce redundancy. Ratings of clarity, accuracy, and completeness were high, ranging from 5 to 7 (mean ratings from 5.8 to 7.0) on a scale of 1 ("does not do this at all") to 7 ("does this very well"). The pilot study led to changes in wording and items used to assess knowledge. A theoretically-informed approach was used to develop an online supervisor training to increase awareness and build skills. An iterative process that included expert review, evaluation of learning competencies, and a pilot study with the end-users is described.

Introducción: Los embarazos no deseados en adolescentes tienen graves consecuencias tanto para las propias adolescentes y sus bebés como para el uso de los recursos del sistema sanitario. Una de las razones es el escaso uso de píldoras anticonceptivas orales (ACO) entre esta población, debido principalmente a la falta de información o a la no adherencia a los medicamentos. El objetivo de este estudio fue describir la información que reciben las adolescentes sobre los ACO y su uso, así como su percepción del papel del farmacéutico comunitario en este campo. Método: Se realizó un estudio observacional transversal mediante encuesta, aplicada a mujeres entre 12-19 años residentes en España, independientemente de si habían utilizado o no ACO, durante abril de 2021. Para la difusión de esta encuesta se utilizaron diferentes redes sociales. Asimismo, se contactó con diferentes asociaciones españolas dedicadas a la orientación de la planificación familiar y la salud sexual en adolescentes. Resultados: El 81,7% (n=76) de los encuestados no había tomado ACO, aunque el 35,5% (n=33) sí había mantenido relaciones sexuales. El 6% (n=1) que tomaba o había tomado ACO informó que eran adherentes. El 88% (n=82) pensaba que el farmacéutico tiene conocimientos sobre medicamentos; sin embargo, sólo el 19,4% (n=18) les consultaría para resolver dudas sobre ACO. Conclusiones: Para resolver los problemas de falta de información sobre ACO y de adherencia en mujeres adolescentes, el farmacéutico comunitario es un profesional accesible que puede contribuir a ello adoptando una actitud activa y utilizando diferentes formas de material educativo., Introduction: Unintended pregnancies in adolescents have serious consequences both for the adolescents themselves and their babies and for the use of health system resources. One of the reasons is the low use of oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) among this population, mainly due to lack of information or non-adherence to the medication. The aim of this study was to describe the information adolescents receive about OCPs and their use, as well as their perception of the role of the community pharmacist in this field. Method: A cross-sectional observational study was carried out by means of a survey applied to women aged 12-19 years living in Spain, regardless of whether or not they had used OCPs, during April 2021. Different social networks were used to disseminate the survey. Different Spanish associations dedicated to family planning and adolescent sexual health counselling were also contacted. Results: 81.7% (n=76) of respondents had not taken OCPs, although 35.5% (n=33) had had sex. The 6% (n=1) who were taking or had taken OCPs reported adherence. 88% (n=82) thought that the pharmacist is knowledgeable about medicines; however, only 19.4% (n=18) would consult them for OCP questions. Conclusions: To solve the problems of lack of information about OCPs and adherence in adolescent women, the community pharmacist is an accessible professional who can contribute to this by taking an active role and using different forms of educational materials.

Aim: This study aimed to identify the level of satisfaction and needs of the content of the “health promotion seminars” to support health promotion and improve healthy life expectancy provided by community pharmacies to community residents. Methods: An awareness survey was conducted among seminar participants. Anonymous survey questionnaires were distributed to the participants of the six sessions of the “health promotion seminars” held from December 2019 to February 2020 were recruited. Out of 136 participants, 116 responses were obtained (response rate: 85.3%; female: 114, male: 1, unanswered: 1) from the target population. Results: The level of satisfaction with the seminar was reported at 77.5% (n=90) for the first run and 68.5% (n=80) for the second run. Currently, the “Health Promotion Seminar” consists of an active (participation) lecture in the first lecture and a passive (classroom) lecture in the second lecture, conducted by pharmacists and dietitians. The level of understanding (84.5%) and active participation (86.2%) in the first course were higher than those in the second course (understanding: 80.2%, active participation: 80.2%). Participants reported anxiety issues in their everyday life stemming from the items “Forgot to take medicine” and “frequency of using the toilet increased night”. Conclusions: Health promotion seminars are viewed by community residents to be effective in disseminating health promotion information. Objective The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a real-world, population-scaled, school-based physical activity (PA) intervention that provided two to three additional physical education lessons per week to children aged 6 to 14 years in Slovenia. Methods More than 34,000 participants from over 200 schools were compared with a similar number of nonparticipants from the same schools. Generalized estimating equations were used to estimate the effects of differing levels of exposure to the intervention (i.e., from 1–5 years) on BMI in children with normal weight, overweight, or obesity at baseline. Results BMI was lower in the intervention group, irrespective of participation duration or baseline weight status. The difference in BMI increased with the program duration, with maximal effects being seen after 3 to 4 years of participation, and was consistently larger for children with obesity (peaking at 1.4 kg/m2 [95% CI: 1.0–1.9] for girls with obesity and peaking at 0.9 kg/m2 [95% CI: 0.6–1.3] for boys with obesity). The program started to become effective at reversing obesity after 3 years, whereas the lowest numbers needed to treat (NNTs) were observed after 5 years (NNTs = 17 for girls and 12 for boys). Conclusions The population-scaled, school-based PA intervention was effective in preventing and treating obesity. The effects were the greatest in children initially presenting with obesity, such that the program was able to benefit children needing support the most.

Aim: To generate and understand the process of change in the empowerment of women from 60 to 80 years old through a Participatory Action Research. Specific aim: To analyse the women participants' experiences concerning empowerment and self-care. Design: We use the Participatory Action Research approach (in its critical option) in the Socio-critical Paradigm and applying the Kemmis and McTaggart Model. Methods: A group of 10 women participants from 60 to 80 years old was created and developed the Participatory Action Research from June 2019 to May 2020. This group was involved in 22 group sessions, individual interviews, reflective diaries and triangulation with quantitative data. Results: Findings were interpreted based on the Gestalt Self Theory. Women generated changes in their empowerment based on three characteristics (self-determination, self-esteem and self-confidence) and, consequently, in their self-care. They did so according to two distinct patterns of behaviour: Leader women and follower women. The former took the lead in transforming their realities and the latter observed them and evolved in a slower and more reflective manner. These changes had an impact on the most individual level (inner world) and went beyond that barrier, modifying in turn their immediate surroundings and the social level (outer world). Conclusions: The group of older women began to consider their needs and consider themselves as important once they worked on their self-determination, self-esteem and self-confidence; we show these are key aspects to work on their empowerment and promote their self-care. Impact: The patterns of behaviour and dimensions of empowerment detected may help in future research designs and emancipatory community interventions in this population group. Sí

School-based sex education is essential to improve the knowledge and behavior of young people. Unlike most European countries, sex education in Italy is not compulsory in the school curriculum. Therefore, to assess potential gaps, the main aim of this study was to explore Italian regional initiatives about sex education. A review of gray literature from 2006 to 2021 was conducted in December 2021 on national databases and institutional websites of each Italian region, during which official documents on regional sex education programs were selected. Moreover, a rapid systematic review was carried out in scientific databases to find more information. For both reviews, the sex education topics recommended by UNESCO were used for extracting and analyzing data. A total of 12 Italian regions out of 20 had at least one sex education program, for a total of 39 projects. Overall, all the topics identified by UNESCO have been covered, with considerable differences between northern, central, and southern Italy. Contraception, love, marriage, partnerships, and family were the main topics discussed (hosted in 92% of the regions). Only 25% of the regions discussed pregnancy and birth. Disability was the least debated topic (17%). The rapid systematic review showed that relevant improvements were achieved after sex education interventions. In conclusion, this study underlined important limitations to the implementation of school-based sex education in Italy. Hence, it is necessary to increase sex education interventions to reach adequate standards and flatten the differences not only between Italian regions but also between Italy and other European countries.

Oral health behaviour change interventions are gaining momentum on a global scale. After lagging behind other disciplines, oral health behaviour change is becoming an area of fast and important development. Theories used in medicine and healthcare more generally are now being applied to oral health behaviour change with varying results. Despite the importance of using theories when designing and developing interventions, the variety and variation of theories available to choose from create a series of dilemmas and potential hazards. Some theories, like the COM-B (Capability, Opportunity, Motivation-Behaviour) model, and frameworks, like the Behaviour Change Wheel might represent areas of opportunity for oral health behaviour change interventions with careful consideration vital. Different methodological approaches to intervention development are actively utilized in oral health with a wide host of potential opportunities. The issue of co-designing and co-developing interventions with intended users and stakeholders from the start is an important component for successful and effective interventions, one that oral health behaviour change interventions need to consistently implement. Oral health behaviour change interventions are utilizing technology-based approaches as a major vehicle for intervention delivery and, innovative solutions are implemented across a wide host of oral health behaviour change interventions. With multiple options for designing, developing, and delivering interventions, careful selection of appropriate, user-inclusive, and adaptable approaches is essential. With a lot of available information and evidence from other disciplines, oral health behaviour change interventions need to reflect on lessons learned in other fields whilst also maximizing the potential of the wide variety of theories, frameworks, methodologies, and techniques available at present.

Introduction: Emotional and behavioral problems are growing among children ages birth to five, and racial/ethnic and socioeconomic disparities exist. Comprehensive, culturally responsive, family-driven systems of care, such as the one operated by California’s diverse, urban Alameda County, offer one potential intervention. Methods: We used client-level service data (n = 496 children) to calculate descriptive statistics and regression analyses (including multilevel models to account for observations for the same client at multiple points in time). We estimated the prevalence of mental health issues and assessed the association between the length of time using services and emotional and behavioral functioning. Results: Comprehensive mental health services and supports were associated with improved emotional and behavioral functioning outcomes for children over time, even after controlling for other risk factors. Discussion: Systems of care appear to support the multidimensional functioning of children and their families.

Within the field of public health, there is growing awareness of how complex social conditions shape health outcomes and the role that power plays in driving health inequities. Despite public health frameworks lifting up the need to tackle power imbalances to advance equity, there is little guidance on how to accomplish this as an integral part of health promotion.This article addresses the need for public health professionals to better understand power and identifies opportunities for shifting power to achieve more equitable outcomes. First, it defines power and community power building. Next, it reviews a pragmatic theoretical framework that organizes power into 3 faces: (1) exercising influence in formal decision-making processes; (2) organizing the decision-making environment; and (3) shaping worldviews about social issues. Finally, it connects each face of power to community power-building practices using concrete examples.This article highlights real-world case examples to demonstrate how theory translates to action by describing how public health practitioners in government, academic, and nonprofit settings incorporate the 3 faces of power into their work. The case examples illustrate how public health organizations and practitioners can partner with those most impacted by inequities to help shape decision making, agenda setting, and worldviews to influence policy and practice toward more equitable outcomes.The public health field can learn from and build on these innovative examples to establish new practices, scale up promising approaches, and evaluate what works to shift power for the greater good.

BACKGROUND: With the increase in the older adult population, it is essential to identify the living and health conditions that can impact the quality of life of these individuals. OBJECTIVES: To identify the domains and factors associated with the quality of life of older adults under the Family Health Strategy program. DESIGN AND SETTING: This was a cross-sectional analytical study was conducted in the municipality of Palmas, Tocantins, Brazil. METHODS: We assessed 449 older adults enrolled in the Family Health Strategy program. Data were collected between April and July, 2018. World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment (WHOQOL-OLD) was used to assess the quality of life (QoL) and multiple linear regression was used to estimate the factors associated with QoL. RESULTS: The QoL domain with the highest score was death and dying (mean = 70.4), and the lowest score was for sensory functions (mean = 61.0 points). The factors associated with QoL were single marital status (β = -4.55; P = 0.014), level of independence for daily living activities (β = 4.92; P < 0.001), self-assessment of regular health (β = 5.35; P < 0.001), and poor health (β = -8.67; P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The death and dying domain of QoL presented the highest score. Marital status, impairment in daily activities, and health self-assessment were associated with QoL.

Background: Cancer constitutes a dramatic life experience, disrupting homeostasis. With population aging and prolonged survival in cancer patients, it is essential to increase their quality of life. Objective: To develop and implement a nursing follow-up model focused on the vulnerabilities of patients with prostate cancer in order to improve their quality of life. Methodology: A pilot study was conducted on six patients with prostate cancer. Data were collected through the application of the QLQ-INFO25 and HADS and interviews in the outpatient consultation of a private hospital. Results: Changes in the dimensions of health-related quality of life. Implementing the follow-up model revealed that "health education, self-confidence, and attitude" are essential aspects of the nurses' work with these patients. Working on patients' vulnerabilities improved their quality of life. Conclusion: The model benefits health promotion, well-being, complication prevention, and in creased satisfaction. Metodología: Se llevó a cabo un estudio piloto en el que se aplicaron las escalas QLQ-INFO25 y HADS, y una entrevista en la consulta externa de un hospital privado a seis pacientes con cáncer de próstata. Resultados: Cambios en las dimensiones de la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud. La implementación del modelo de seguimiento nos permitió concluir que "la educación sanitaria, la autoconfianz y la actitud" son aspectos esenciales del trabajo de los enfermeros con estos pacientes. Trabajar sobre las vulnerabilidades de los pacientes mejoró su calidad de vida. Conclusión: El modelo beneficia la promoción de la salud, el bienestar, la prevención de complicaciones y el aumento de la satisfacción. El trabajo individualizado del equipo mejora la calidad de vida de estos pacientes., Enquadramento: O cancro representa uma experiência dramática na vida de qualquer pessoa, perturbando a sua homeostasia. Dado o envelhecimento da população e a sobrevivência mais prolongada destes doentes, é essencial melhorar a sua qualidade de vida. Objetivo: Desenvolver e implementar um modelo de acompanhamento em enfermagem centrado nas vulnerabilidades dos doentes com cancro da próstata, a fim de melhorar a sua qualidade de vida. Metodologia: Estudo piloto realizado através da aplicação das escalas QLQ-INFO25 e HADS e de uma entrevista, na consulta de ambulatório de um hospital privado, a seis doentes com cancro da próstata. Resultados: Alterações nas dimensões da qualidade de vida relacionada com a saúde. A implementação do modelo de acompanhamento permitiu concluir que "educação em saúde, autoconfiança e atitude "são aspetos essenciais no trabalho dos enfermeiros com estes doentes. O trabalho direcionado às vulnerabilidades dos doentes melhorou a sua qualidade de vida. Conclusão: O modelo contribui para a promoção da saúde e do bem-estar, prevenção de complicações e aumento da satisfação. O trabalho individualizado da equipa melhora a qualidade de vida destes doentes.

Objective: To analyze the association between the incorporation of play into the domestic routine of caregivers, and the child development of children under their care. Method: Cross-sectional study conducted with 129 caregiver-child dyads aged 12-23 months, living in the southern region of São Paulo. Child development was assessed using the Ages & Stages Questionnaire-3, and the incorporation of play into the domestic through a questionnaire and filming of the dyads in activities related to the domestic routine. Results: Almost all the caregivers were the mother (98%), who, when answering the questionnaire, reported incorporating play into their domestic routine (93%), however in the video, only one third played with the child (34%). There was a positive association between playing in moments of domestic routine and domains of child development in children aged 18 months or less. Conclusions: A positive association was found between the incorporation of play into the domestic routine and child development. RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar la asociación entre la incorporación del juego en la rutina doméstica, por parte de cuidadoras, y el desarrollo infantil de niños bajo su cuidado. Método: Estudio transversal con 129 díadas cuidadora-niño de 12-23 meses, en la ciudad de São Paulo. El desarrollo infantil se evaluó con el Ages & Stages Questionnaire-3 y la incorporación del juego a la rutina doméstica a través de cuestionario y filmaciones de las díadas en actividades relacionadas con la rutina doméstica. Resultados: Casi todas las cuidadoras fueron la madre (98%) que, al responder al cuestionario, refirieron incorporar el juego en su rutina doméstica (93%), pero en el video, solo un tercio jugó con el niño (34%). Hubo asociación positiva entre jugar en momentos de rutina doméstica y dominios del desarrollo de niños de 18 meses o menos. Conclusiones: Se encontró una asociación positiva entre la incorporación del juego en la rutina doméstica y el desarrollo infantil. O desenvolvimento infantil foi avaliado com a utilização do Ages & Stages Questionnaire-3, e a incorporação do brincar na rotina doméstica, por meio de questionário e filmagem das díades em atividades relacionadas à rotina doméstica. Resultados: Quase a totalidade das cuidadoras era a mãe (98%) que, ao responder ao questionário, referiu incorporar o brincar na rotina doméstica (93%), porém, no vídeo, apenas um terço brincou com a criança (34%). Verificou-se associação positiva entre brincadeiras em momentos da rotina doméstica e domínios do desenvolvimento em crianças com idade igual ou inferior a 18 meses. Conclusões: Constatou-se associação positiva entre a incorporação do brincar na rotina doméstica e o desenvolvimento infantil.

Resumo A osteoporose é uma doença sistêmica caracterizada pela redução da densidade mineral óssea. A difusão do conhecimento sobre à doença, pode ser uma alternativa viável para atitudes preventivas e de autocuidado. Dessa forma, esse artigo procura identificar como são os programas sobre saúde óssea para idosos. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de estudos publicados entre 2011 e 2022 nas bases de dados Periódicos Capes, Web of Science, PubMed e Google Scholar em inglês. Foram encontrados 10.093 estudos, sendo selecionados 7 depois dos critérios de inclusão. Foi possível verificar que os programas de educação para saúde óssea possuem o objetivo de empoderar o idoso pelo aumento do conhecimento sobre a doença, conscientizar sobre o consumo de cálcio e vitamina D ou de medicamentos para osteoporose, mudanças de hábitos e a prática de exercícios físicos. Os programas geralmente são realizados com reuniões em grupo ou individualizados, com sessões de 50 a 60 minutos, podendo ou não, delimitar o número de indivíduos em cada uma delas. Nota-se que acompanhar a evolução do processo educativo também é importante. A contextualização dos temas junto a realidade e interesse dos idosos, parece ser outra forma positiva para despertar atitudes de autocuidado. Abstract Osteoporosis is a systemic disease characterized by a reduction in bone mineral density. The dissemination of knowledge about the disease can be a viable alternative for promoting preventive behavior and self-care. This study sought to identify the main characteristics of bone health programs for older persons. We conducted an integrative review, searching for studies published between 2011 and 2022 in the CAPES periodicals database, Web of Science, PubMed, and Google Scholar using English descriptors. A total of 10,093 studies were retrieved, seven of which were selected after applying the inclusion criteria. The findings show that bone health education programs aim to empower older people by increasing knowledge about the disease and raising awareness about calcium and vitamin D intake, osteoporosis medications, and the importance of changing habits and exercise. Programs generally consist of group or individual meetings, with sessions lasting 50 to 60 minutes. Class sizes may be limited or unrestricted. Follow-up during the educational process was also found to be important. Tailoring topics to the reality and interests of participants appears to be another positive way of promoting the adoption of self-care practices.

This project aims to contribute to increasing knowledge about habits and healthy lifestyles in a training process applying gamification to the promotion of health in women in the city of Bogotá, which enables the transfer to children and adolescents who under their care, since these women caregivers often do not have the necessary knowledge to assertively educate the people under their care, not knowing what habits and lifestyles they should impart to them according to their age range, this It will be done through pre-structured leveling sessions. The women of the city of Bogotá will participate in an interview at the beginning of the course and another one at the end of it, in order to differentiate and catalog the changes regarding the knowledge they had before the course and the knowledge they learned in this course, adding to this a carefully analyzed series of videos of the sessions in order to further strengthen the results of the project. Objective: To evaluate the association between knowledge about the disease, adherence to self-care, and glycemic control in people diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional study of patients aged over 18 years diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus, treated at an outpatient clinic of a Brazilian university hospital. Participants with other types of diabetes, cognitive impairment, pregnancy, and outpatient discharge were excluded. Data were collected from January to March 2021 (by telephone call), with questions about the participants’ profile, diabetes knowledge questionnaire (DKN-A), and self-care inventory revised (SCI-R) translated into and adapted for Brazilian Portuguese. Data analysis involved chi-square associations, Mann-Whitney U tests, and Poisson regression. Results: Among 198 adult participants, the mean age was 42 ± 12 years, 53.5% were women, the mean glycated hemoglobin was 8.6 ± 1.6%, 140 (70.8%) had satisfactory knowledge about diabetes, 65 (32.8%) had adherence to self-care, and 46 (23.2%) had adequate glycemic control. We found an association between knowledge and adherence to self-care (p < 0.001). Knowledge was not associated with glycemic control (p = 0.705). Conclusion: Knowledge about diabetes was associated with greater adherence to self-care in people with type 1 diabetes mellitus, but it did not reflect in better glycemic control.

AIM: In this study, we investigated healthcare professionals' (HCPs) experiences with delivering home visits and digital coaching in the Face-it health promotion intervention targeting women with recent GDM and their families. Understanding the acceptability and adoption of a health promotion intervention can provide insights into intervention fidelity and future scalability.METHODS: In total, 13 HCPs were interviewed. Data were analysed thematically through an abductive approach using Sekhon et al.'s theoretical framework of acceptability and Greenhalgh et al.'s framework for non-adoption, abandonment, scale-up, spread, and sustainability.RESULTS: Acceptability and adoption of the intervention among HCPs were influenced by 1) skills and technology, 2) values, and 3) organisation. The intervention was experienced as acceptable to HCPs because the dialogue tool, visualising different topics, used in the home visits and digital coaching through the LIVA app were flexible and enabled them to address psychosocial health and personalise goal setting in families. However, delivering asynchronous and non-verbal communication was experienced as straining HCPs' relationship with families, which misaligned with HCPs' values. Establishing a non-judgemental environment was needed to increase intervention acceptability among HCPs towards addressing type 2 diabetes risk after GDM. Increased collaboration between HCPs may have aligned advice and support to families and could have benefitted delivery.CONCLUSIONS: When delivering health promotion to women with prior GDM, flexible intervention components which support psychosocial- and mental health topics may increase acceptability and adoption of the intervention among HCPs. HCPs' skills, values and organisational factors should be considered prior and during implementation.

African American (AA) women have the highest rate of obesity in the United States. To date, there are mixed findings on AA women’s perception on obesity and their perceived changes in health behaviors over time that may have contributed to obesity. Therefore, the aims of this current qualitative descriptive study were to explore: 1) AA women’s perception on obesity and perceived changes in health behaviors related to obesity through their reflection on life; 2) AA women’s perceived facilitators and barriers to maintaining healthy behaviors; and 3) AA women’s suggestions for future health promotion programs to manage obesity. Semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions were conducted with 21 AA women. Luborsky’s method for thematic analysis was used to analyze data. Three main themes with subthemes were identified. First main theme was the AA culture that served as a facilitator and barrier to maintaining healthy lifestyle from childhood to young adulthood. Second main theme was gradual changes in their healthy lifestyle due to social and physical environment from young adulthood to middle adulthood. Third main theme was AA women’s various suggestions for future health promotion programs. This study found obesity to be a multifactorial phenomenon that is a result of complex interaction of culture, environment, and social networks. Therefore, clinicians need to address the issue of obesity from a holistic perspective for AA women to actively engage with their primary health care. Future health promotion programs should incorporate culturally tailored lifestyle components and increase knowledge on healthy lifestyle against obesity through community-based programs.

Objective: Healthy ageing is associated with a healthy lifestyle. The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity, reliability, and cultural adaptation of the Turkish version of the Health Enhancement Lifestyle Profile Screener (T-HELP-Screener). Methods: This study included 150 participants aged 65 years and above. Internal consistency of the T-HELP-Screener was measured using Kuder–Richardson. Test-retest reliability was performed with 66 of the 150 participants using intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Construct validity of the T-HELP-Screener was analyzed with the Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale-II (HLBS-II). Results: This study showed a substantially reliable level (Kuder–Richardson=0.72). The ICC for each of the T-HELP-Screener items ranged from 0.750 (95% CI = 0.590–0.847) to 0.965 (95% CI = 0.942–0.978) indicating acceptable to good test-retest reliability. There was a significant moderate correlation between the T-HELP-Screener and the HLBS-II (rs = 0.488; p =0.001). Conclusion: This study supports the psychometric properties of the T-HELP-Screener. This tool can help quickly identify older adults who need a more comprehensive assessment of their health risk behaviours. Future studies should develop and validate a Turkish version of the comprehensive 56-item Health Enhancement Lifestyle Profile (HELP).

RESUMEN Objetivo. Evaluar los conocimientos sobre alimentación saludable (AS) de los estudiantes del área de la salud y los factores asociados al entorno universitario. Materiales y métodos. Se trata de un estudio transversal con 512 estudiantes universitarios (≥ 18 años) matriculados en nueve carreras de grado en salud. Se llevó a cabo de abril a noviembre de 2017. Se aplicaron el Instrumento Evaluativo de la promoción de la salud en la universidad y el Cuestionario Internacional de Actividad Física. Además, se midió el peso, talla y perímetro abdominal. Se realizaron análisis bivariados y multivariados utilizando SPSS versión 23.0. Resultados. Se encontró que la mayoría de los estudiantes universitarios de las nueve carreras de salud tenían conocimientos insuficientes sobre alimentación saludable (71,9%; n=368). Sin embargo, la mayor proporción de estudiantes con conocimientos suficientes se encontraron en el área de nutrición (15,3%; n=22), seguidos de aquellos del área de educación física (12,5%; n=18). El menor porcentaje de estudiantes con conocimientos suficientes se encontró en la carrera de medicina (8,3%; n=12). En el análisis multivariado se evidenció que el conocimiento suficiente sobre alimentación saludable estaba relacionado con la participación en actividades de alimentación saludable (p=0,012; RP=1,94), participación en actividades que aborden la autoestima y el autoconocimiento (p=0,046; RP=0,59) y con tener exceso de peso (p=0,036; RP=1,53). Conclusión. Se evidenció un bajo porcentaje de estudiantes de salud con conocimientos suficientes sobre alimentación saludable. Sin embargo, la participación en actividades de alimentación saludable, autoestima y autoconocimiento en la universidad logró mejorar el nivel de conocimiento. Se recomienda el desarrollo de proyectos universitarios que abarquen la tríada psicológica, alimentaria y corporal, involucrando así todas las carreras de salud, con el objetivo de mejorar la salud y la calidad de vida de los universitarios. ABSTRACT Objective. To assess the healthy eating (HE) knowledge of health students and the factors associated with the university environment. Materials and methods. This was a cross-sectional study of 512 university students (≥ 18 years) enrolled in nine undergraduate health careers. It was conducted from April to November 2017. The Instrument for Assessment of Health Promotion in Universities and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire were used. In addition, we measured weight, height and waist circumference. Bivariate and multivariate analyses were carried out with SPSS version 23.0. Results. We found that most university students from the nine health careers had insufficient knowledge about healthy eating (71.9%; n=368). However, the highest proportion of students with sufficient knowledge was found in the career of nutrition (15.3%; n=22), followed by those in the physical education career (12.5%; n=18). The lowest percentage of students with sufficient knowledge was found in the career of medicine (8.3%; n=12). Multivariate analysis showed that sufficient knowledge about healthy eating was related to participation in healthy eating activities (p=0.012; PR=1.94), participation in activities addressing self-esteem and self-knowledge (p=0.046; PR=0.59) and being overweight (p=0.036; PR=1.53). Conclusion. A low percentage of health students had sufficient knowledge about healthy eating. However, participation in healthy eating, self-esteem and self-knowledge activities at the university managed to improve the level of knowledge. We recommend the development of university projects that include the psychological, food and body triad, thus involving all health careers, with the aim of improving the health and quality of life of university students.

Nursing informatics is an emergent field of practice, as are the conceptual and theoretical frameworks that underpin research in this field of practice. In research, theoretical frameworks serve as structured roadmaps that connect various concepts and propositions in a field of study. Therefore, building theoretical frameworks in nursing informatics requires evaluating relevant knowledge from other disciplines that intersect with nursing informatics to justify its relevance and applicability. Fawcett’s criteria provide feasible approaches for evaluating middle-range theory. Consequently, the prominent health program framework popularly referred to as the Donabedian Healthcare Quality Framework is significant to nursing informatics research and projects.

The article presents data on sports, active forms of leisure, travel among elderly Russians. An important conclusion is made that health promotion by means of active recreation and sports among senior citizens in Russia is one of the directions of active longevity policy. An overview of charitable foundations for senior citizens of the Russian Federation and their activities in promoting an active lifestyle among elderly citizens is presented.В статье приведены данные по занятию спортом, активными формами досуга, путешествиям среди пожилых россиян. Сделан важный вывод о том, что укрепление здоровья средствами активного отдыха и спорта среди пожилых граждан в России выступает одним из направлений политики активного долголетия. Представлен обзор благотворительных фондов для пожилых граждан России и их деятельность в пропаганде активного образа жизни среди граждан престарелого возраста.

The analysis of homeostasis as a tool for restraining, saving, security and rehabilitation technologies which ensures the sustainable functioning of the human organism through the cultivation of health-saving and rehabilitation technologies, as well as health programs, preventive (anti-alcohol, anti-nicotine, drug addicts) and recreational activities, upbringing of health culture and also environmental, medical treatment practices and correctional technologies. The cyclic mechanism of homeostasis is described, which works on the principle of alternating modes of behavior of the social system - structures for generating order and structures for maintaining order. The functioning stability of the human organism is relative and has the nature of a dynamic balance, fluctuating around a certain average value and constantly deviating from it either in the direction of positive, strengthening changes, or in the direction of negative and destructive ones.

Introduction: Health education is not just for teenagers, but it should be aimed at the target audience in general, only addressed at different times or occasions, because depending on age, each target has a specific method that must be discussed by professionals. Objective: To identify in the literature the strategies for carrying out the practice of sexual health education. Methodology: This study is an integrative literature review with a descriptive and exploratory approach, based on a survey of data in the scientific bases: BDENF, SCIELO and LILACS. Results and Discussions: By analyzing the studies selected by the literature, it is possible to highlight some important points regarding sexual education strategies. It is known that dialoguing with the subject demands good professional training, and therefore, knowledge and preparation becomes crucial for this process. The promotion of sexual and reproductive health is an issue that should be addressed to all audiences without age restrictions. Strategies for sex education in health are based on teaching, guiding and clarifying doubts about prejudices, taboos, sexually transmitted infections, contraceptive methods, doubts about changes in genital organs, female and male hormones, hygiene, self-care and among others. Conclusion: Based on the above, through this research, the need for health and education interventions with regard to sexuality and reproductive life is verified. The target audience should be broad, however, children and adolescents are prioritized as a priority for guidance on sex education.

RESUMO A violência intrafamiliar pode ser compreendida como um fator gerador de adoecimento em crianças vitimizadas, impactando na saúde e no desenvolvimento social. Este estudo buscou conhecer as relações familiares e a rede de apoio das famílias que vivem em vulnerabilidade social e violência, por meio dos instrumentos genograma e ecomapa. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva e exploratória, com abordagem qualitativa, em que foram entrevistados oito pais ou responsáveis por crianças atendidas em uma organização não governamental. Para sistematização dos resultados, foi empregada a análise de conteúdo, e, para elaboração dos genogramas e ecomapas, o programa GenoPro. Os resultados apresentaram a composição das famílias, as redes de apoio, atitudes, sentimentos e emoções vinculados à dinâmica familiar e às potencialidades das relações. As famílias mostraram fragilidades relacionais, agravadas pelas dificuldades financeiras. Paralelamente, a rede de apoio, somada às potencialidades identificadas na dinâmica familiar, representou importante recurso de proteção. Conclui-se que o genograma e o ecomapa constituem-se instrumentos eficazes para a identificação e compreensão dos casos de violência e podem servir como ferramenta no desenvolvimento de ações sociais, na promoção da saúde da família e no fortalecimento de políticas públicas, auxiliando na garantia dos direitos à vida e à saúde da criança. ABSTRACT Domestic violence can be understood as a factor that generates illness in victimized children, impacting health and social development. This study sought to understand family relationships and the support network of families living in social vulnerability and violence, using genogram and ecomap instruments. This is a descriptive and exploratory research, with a qualitative approach, in which eight parents/caregivers of children assisted by non-governmental organizations were interviewd. To systematize the results, content analysis was used, and the GenoPro program was used to prepare the genograms and ecomaps. The results showed the composition of families, the support networks, attitudes, feelings, and emotions connected to family dynamics and the potential of relationships. Families showed relational weaknesses, aggravated by financial difficulties. At the same time, the support network, added to the potentials identified in the family dynamics represented an important resource for protection. It is concluded that the genogram and the ecomap are effective instruments for the identification and understanding of cases of violence and can serve as a tool in the development of social actions, in the promotion of family health, and in the strengthening of public policies, helping to guarantee the rights to life and health of the child.

Resumo Objetivou-se relatar a experiência no gerenciamento de pesquisa-ação sobre inquérito de hepatite C junto à comunidade carcerária no Triângulo Mineiro, Minas Gerais. A proposta foi desenvolvida entre março de 2019 e março de 2020, alcançando 240 pessoas, com o intuito de conter a disseminação do agravo por meio de inquérito, testagem e acompanhamento dos casos positivos. Adotou-se ação intersetorial, com articulação entre universidades, sociedade médica, hospital de ensino e Secretaria de Estado de Justiça e Segurança Pública. As estratégias para o gerenciamento da pesquisa-ação foram: cenários e atores do estudo, registro e formalização da atividade, aplicação dos testes e manejo dos internos reagentes. Dificuldades foram identificadas quanto à acomodação de rotinas entre equipe de pesquisadores e funcionamento próprio da penitenciária, o que exigiu treinamento ostensivo entre as partes e articulações gerenciais. Considera-se que o relato, quando destaca as estratégias adotadas para a condução da pesquisa, colabora para a organização de investigações futuras que visem acessar essa população ainda invisibilizada. Abstract We aimed to report the experience in managing action research on hepatitis C investigation in the prison community in the Triângulo Mineiro region, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The proposal was developed from March 2019 to March 2020, reaching 240 people to contain the spread of the disease through a survey, testing, and monitoring of positive cases. We adopted intersectoral action with articulation between Universities, Medical Society, Teaching Hospital, and State Secretariat for Justice and Public Security. Strategies for the management of action research are described: study settings and stakeholders, registration and formalization of the activity, application of tests, and management of reagent inmates. We identified difficulties regarding the accommodation of routines among the research team and the proper functioning of the penitentiary, which required extensive training between the parties and managerial articulations. We consider that the report collaborates with the organization of future research aimed at accessing this still invisible population, the prison community when it highlights the strategies adopted to conduct the research.

OBJECTIVE: To examine the marketing techniques food and beverage brands use on Instagram, as part of their sport sponsorship strategy. METHODS: We conducted a qualitative content analysis of 31 Instagram accounts during the 2021 Australian Open tennis tournament. Branded food and beverage posts with tennis-linked content were coded based on an initial screening and previously published frameworks. RESULTS: Of the 152 included posts, 92% were made by food and beverage companies that were official 'partners' of the Australian Open. Products in posts were mostly discretionary foods and alcohol. The most frequently used strategies were 'Engagement' (89%) and 'Branding' (80%) and nearly half (45%) of alcohol posts invited direct consumption of their product. CONCLUSIONS: The powerful combination of sport and social media are utilised by brands to interact and build relationship with consumers while promoting the consumption of alcohol and discretionary foods - products which impede rather than promote health. The indirect marketing techniques favoured by brands make this form of advertising difficult to identify and control. IMPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH: These results highlight the need for counter-marketing, policy and regulatory actions to remove unhealthy food and alcohol from sport and reorient sponsorship of sporting events towards products that promote health.

Objective School-based vision programs (SBVPs) are one approach to increase access to vision care by providing vision screenings, eye examinations, and eyeglasses directly in schools. Few studies report on the perspectives of teachers and staff, who are important stakeholders, on SBVPs. We examined teacher and staff perspectives on their involvement in SBVPs. Design Qualitative study using focus groups. Participants Teachers and staff at Baltimore and Chicago public schools served by SBVPs between 2016 and 2018. Methods We conducted 21 semistructured focus groups with 117 teachers and staff in 10 Baltimore and 11 Chicago public preK–12 schools that participated in SBVPs. Sessions were recorded, transcribed, and coded using inductive thematic analysis. Results Participants identified 2 main themes regarding teacher and staff involvement in SBVPs: (i) program outreach, including using multiple communication modalities to engage parents, explaining program details to families, and helping with program consent form return and (ii) promoting vision health, including identifying vision problems in the classroom, encouraging eyeglasses wear, and supporting eyeglasses maintenance. Participants also discussed limitations in capacity to partake in these activities. Conclusion Teachers interact with parents and students throughout the SBVP process, undertaking important roles in outreach and health promotion to ensure uptake of SBVP services. SBVPs and other school-based health programs should explore strategies to support teachers in the roles they fill to optimize program impact.

Recent behavioral research indicates that social media may be successfully integrated into weight loss interventions to mitigate the obesity epidemic that has been linked with type two diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancers, as well as poor psychological health. This study aimed to examine the content and characteristics of 100 most trending TikTok videos related to weight loss.This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study.Videos were analyzed for source, predominant theme, and inclusion of specific content. Independent two-tailed t-tests assessed the effect of content on number of comments, likes, and forwards garnered by the videos.More than 90% of the videos were consumer generated, indicating a missed opportunity by health professionals to use social media to provide accurate information regarding weight loss. Less than one-fifth of the videos were informational but significantly influenced the number of comments (P .001) and likes (P = .002). Videos mentioning benefits ((P .001) and speed of weight loss (P = .003) significantly influenced the number of forwards, whereas those that mentioned recipes (P = .005) and how to lose weight (P = .003) significantly affected the number of comments.The results underscore the need for further research to elucidate the effectiveness of social media in impacting weight loss, as well as how they may supplement traditional health promotion and behavior interventions for weight loss.

The current guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology on cardiovascular (CV) disease prevention highlighted the importance of implementing coordinated set of action, including worksite, aimed at eliminating or minimizing the impact of CV disease and their related disabilities. Workplace wellness programs tend to focus on modifiable risk factors of non-communicable disease, such as nutrition, physical activity, and smoking cessation. However, nowadays, corporate wellness programs are still rare and incomplete, and usually received limited attention. This represents a big public health issue since company health and wellness interventions may provide an important opportunity to identify and manage CV risk. Given the increasing of employees' average age, a progressive shifting of retirement age and an increased number of chronic diseases, these preventive programs will increasingly represent key factors of both employee's health and economic strategies of companies in the near future.

Source at http://www.kumj.com.np/index.php?page=home Background - Sense of coherence (SOC) is a core concept of salutogenesis which relates to individuals’ overall life orientation. Stronger SOC associates with better coping strategies, better health, and better quality of life. Although the SOC-questionnaire is validated in many cultures and languages, it has not, to date, been applied in Nepal. Objective - To determine and evaluate women’s SOC before and after a health education intervention. Method - This study was conducted as a part of the Heart-health Associated Research, Dissemination, and Intervention in the Community in the semi-urban JhaukhelDuwakot Health Demographic Surveillance Site in Nepal. Jhaukhel and Duwakot were selected as the control and intervention areas, respectively. Participants were women with children aged 1-7 years. Eight hundred and fifty-seven women before and 1,268 women after the health education intervention participated in the study. The statistical analysis was carried out with chi-square tests and one-way uni-variate ANOVA. Result - Women’s total SOC mean values at baseline were 51.1-57.4 and at follow up 54.4-54.9 in the intervention and control area, respectively. At baseline, SOC was significantly weaker in the intervention area compared to the control area (p < 0.001). At followup three months later, SOC was significantly stronger in the intervention area than in the control area (p < 0.001). Conclusion - Nepalese women had weaker SOC than women in high-income countries, but comparable to neighboring country India with similar cultural features. Empowerment of women through community participation and health education strengthened SOC. The SOC-13-questionnaire in its Nepali version is recommended to be further evaluated.

Introduction. Occupational therapists play a crucial role in the rehabilitation process, as they maximise patients’ independence and participation in meaningful occupations by adopting creative solutions in their treatment plan. Recognizing the importance of creative work and incorporating it into daily activities can be a powerful technique for enhancing quality of life. As a result, OTs must comprehend the significance of using creativity on a daily basis with patients. Creativity has been implicit in occupational therapists’ values and practices since the occupational therapy field’s early days. In particular, OTs use meaningful activities to promote health, wellbeing, and independence, which have traditionally had a strong connection with creativity. Primarily, the OT uses practical exercise to create wellbeing and autonomy, which have had a healthy linkage with imagination. The OT has used creative exercise as a treatment technique since the beginning of the profession. Method. In this paper, a Narrative Review Checklist was used to carry out specific checks of manuscripts’ structures and a careful selection of the articles which are included in the manuscript. In addition, articles referenced in review articles or guidelines were reviewed for inclusion. Findings. This review has shown that the primary motivation for implementing creative activities was to improve the patient performance, wellbeing, and self-esteem. The goal of implementing creative activities was to assist the client in self-expression as well as experience joy and desire. As a result, the necessity to investigate the influence of creative solutions in treatment from an OT standpoint has been identified. Conclusion. Future studies should focus on how it is important to consider the patient’s intrinsic and extrinsic motivations when designing creative solutions, as well as how the disability affects their daily activities, occupations, and adherence to a treatment plan.

Background: We examined recent global secular trends in 5 indicators of child and adolescent physical activity and sedentary behavior (Overall Physical Activity, Organized Sport and Physical Activity, Active Play, Active Transportation, and Sedentary Behavior) and 4 influences on these (Family and Peers, School, Community and Environment, and Government). Methods: Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance letter grades (A+ to F) were assigned numbers from 15 to 2, with 0 assigned for missing/incomplete grades. Trends from Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance Global Matrices 1.0 (2014) to 4.0 (2022) were analyzed using linear mixed-effects models with level of economic development and gender inequity considered as potential moderators. Results: Report card grades were generally relatively stable. Trends generally did not differ significantly by level of economic development (except for Active Transportation and Active Play), but gender inequality did significantly moderate trends for most of the indicators, with higher gender inequality associated with more adverse changes in grades. The number of “incomplete” grades decreased over time, but this did not reach statistical significance. Conclusions: While trends varied within and between countries, physical activity and sedentary behaviors, and the influences on these behaviors globally, were relatively stable over the past decade or so, albeit at undesirable levels.

Over the last decade, the content, delivery and media of pain education have been adjusted in line with scientific discovery in pain and educational sciences, and in line with consumer perspectives. This paper describes a decade-long process of exploring consumer perspectives on pain science education concepts to inform clinician-derived educational updates (undertaken by the authors). Data were collected as part of a quality audit via a series of online surveys in which consent (non-specific) was obtained from consumers for their data to be used in published research. Consumers who presented for care for a persistent pain condition and were treated with a pain science education informed approach were invited to provide anonymous feedback about their current health status and pain journey experience 6, 12 or 18 months after initial assessment. Two-hundred eighteen consumers reported improvement in health status at follow-up. Results of the surveys from three cohorts of consumers that reported improvement were used to generate iterative versions of ‘Key Learning Statements’. Early iteration of these Key Learning Statements was used to inform the development of Target Concepts and associated community-targeted pain education resources for use in public health and health professional workforce capacity building initiatives. Perspective This paper reflects an explicit interest in the insights of people who have been challenged by persistent pain and then recovered, to improve pain care. Identifying pain science concepts that consumers valued learning provided valuable information to inform resources for clinical interactions and community-targeted pain education campaigns. RESUMO As instituições da rede federal de ensino possuem equipe de saúde própria e, portanto, têm a possibilidade de desenvolver múltiplas estratégias para a implantação de ações do Programa Saúde na Escola. Este estudo teve por objetivo sistematizar e sintetizar a produção científica desenvolvida por trabalhadores da rede federal de ensino sobre saúde do adolescente no âmbito escolar. Trata-se de uma metassíntese qualitativa realizada a partir de buscas no portal da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, da Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações e do Google. A análise de conteúdo foi empregada para análise dos dados. A amostra foi composta por 15 publicações. Assim, quatro unidades temáticas emergiram: integração pedagógica da educação em saúde nos institutos federais; concepção de adolescência e saúde do adolescente no âmbito escolar nos institutos federais; perspectivas do trabalho em saúde nos institutos federais com adolescentes; e facilidades e dificuldades no desenvolvimento da saúde do adolescente no âmbito escolar nos institutos federais. Constatou-se que a produção científica sobre a temática ainda é incipiente. Mesmo em institutos federais, é necessário avançar na metodologia das atividades e nos temas de educação em saúde desenvolvidos. Torna-se necessário estimular o protagonismo juvenil transcendendo os aspectos higienistas e fragmentados da saúde escolar. ABSTRACT The institutions of the federal educational network have their own health team and, therefore, have the possibility of developing multiple strategies for the implementation of School Health Program actions. This study aimed to systematize and synthesize the scientific production developed by workers from the federal educational network on adolescent health in the school environment. This is a qualitative meta-synthesis carried out from searches on the Virtual Health Library, Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, and Google. Content analysis was used for data analysis. The sample consisted of 15 publications and 4 thematic units emerged: pedagogical integration of health education in federal institutes; conception of adolescence and adolescent health in the school environment in federal institutes; perspectives of health work in federal institutes with adolescents; and facilities and difficulties in the development of adolescent health in the school environment in federal institutes. It was found that the scientific production on the subject is still incipient. Even in federal institutes, it is necessary to advance in the methodology of activities and in the topics of health education developed. It is necessary to stimulate youth protagonism, transcending the hygienist and fragmented aspects of school health.

Practitioners in health departments, university extension programs, and nonprofit organizations working in public health face varied challenges to publishing in the peer-reviewed literature. These practitioners may lack time, support, skills, and efficacy needed for manuscript submission, which keeps them from sharing their wisdom and experience-based evidence. This exclusion can contribute to literature gaps, a failure of evidence-based practice to inform future research, reduced ability to educate partners, and delays in advancing public health practice. Our article describes the writing workshops offered to Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity (DNPAO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded programs in 2021. This project consisted of three 60-minute introductory writing webinars open to all recipients, followed by a Writing for Publications workshop, an 8- to 9-week virtual learning/writing intensive for selected writing team applicants. The Society for Public Health Education staff, consultants, and CDC/DNPAO staff developed, refined, and presented the curriculum. The workshop for public health practitioner writing teams was offered to two cohorts and included extensive coaching and focused on potential submission to a Health Promotion Practice supplement, “Reducing Chronic Disease through Physical Activity and Nutrition: Public Health Practice in the Field” (see Supplemental Material), which was supported by CDC/DNPAO. We describe the webinars, the workshop design, modifications, evaluation methods and results.

Compare rates of identification of families with health-related social needs (HRSN) and connection to resources by targeted versus universal, pediatric clinic-based interventions.This observational cohort study included 1677 families that received care (January 2017-May 2020) at 8 pediatric medical homes in 3 states implementing Developmental Understanding and Legal Collaboration for Everyone (DULCE)-a universal, evidence-based intervention that addresses HRSN for families with infants. We divided the cohort into 2 groups using 4 common risk criteria in targeted programs serving families with infants; 862 families had no high-risk characteristics (Risk Criteria Absent [RCA]); 815 families had high-risk characteristics (Risk Criteria Present [RCP]). We compared both groups by prevalence of HRSN and connection to supports and estimated the performance of high-risk criteria to identify HRSN.DULCE identified 990 families with HRSN, compared to an estimated 274 families, if a risk-targeted approach had been used. More than half of RCA families had HRSN, 11% used resources at enrollment, and 42.5% accessed resources through DULCE. Simultaneously, 68.8% of RCP families had ongoing HRSN although 46.0% used resources at enrollment; 63.9% accessed additional resources through DULCE. Commonly used risk criteria had a sensitivity of 55.3% (95% confidence interval [CI], 52.2%-58.5%), specificity of 61.1% (95% CI, 57.2%-64.9%), positive predictive value of 68.8% (95% CI, 65.4%-72.0%), and negative predictive value of 46.9% (95% CI, 43.5%-50.4%).Risk criteria commonly used to identify families for targeted interventions are imperfect proxies for HRSN. Universal, medical home-based approaches can play a key role in supporting families with infants.

The aim of our study was to evaluate a statewide obesity prevention program, designed to improve two social determinants of health (access to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity) by changing worksite policies, systems, and environments. We used data on social determinants of health to identify priority communities and funded 25 contractors to recruit and engage worksites in those communities. We employed a pre/post quasi-experimental design and used the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Worksite Health ScoreCard to assess implementation of nutrition and physical activity strategies. Contractors collaborated with partners to conduct pre- and postassessments at 313 worksites. Worksites were successful at implementing all except one strategy; implementation doubled for eight strategies and tripled for three. We used weighted scores to incorporate strength of the evidence-base and level of impact into our analysis; increases in strategy implementation were statistically significant in worksites that provided places to purchase food and beverages and in those that did not. Our study revealed several important recommendations for practice. Use available data to prioritize communities experiencing health disparities and identify PSE change strategies to increase access to nutritious foods and physical activity opportunities. Engage with reputable community-based partners from different sectors when designing and implementing programs. Use standardized tools, such as the Worksite Health ScoreCard, to evaluate public health initiatives.

Background: The aim of this study was to explore the associations between the 10 key indicators of the Global Matrix 4.0 project and human development index (HDI) at a national level according to sex, age, area of residence, and ability levels. Methods: Information from the 57 countries/localities included in the Global Matrix 4.0 project was compiled and presented according to the HDI of each country/locality for each of the 10 key indicators. Grades were assigned based on the benchmarks of the Global Matrix 4.0 project ranged between “A+” (best performance) and “F” (worst performance). Results: The population subgroups of females, children, rural residents, with/without disabilities from countries/localities with higher HDI performed better in the organized sport and physical activity indicator than their peers from countries/localities with lower HDI. Children and adolescents living in rural areas of countries/localities with higher HDI showed better performance for active play, and children and adolescents living in urban areas of countries/localities with lower HDI showed better performance for the active transportation. Countries/localities with higher HDI showed better grades for sources of influence than the countries/localities with lower HDI. Conclusions: Physical activity patterns in some population subgroups of children and adolescents differed according to the development level of countries/localities.
