Alkohol jest spotykany w każdej kulturze od zarania dziejów. W każdej dziedzinie życia spełnia on jakąś funkcję, jest integralnym elementem kultury danego społeczeństwa, także naszego rodzimego. Zmiany ustrojowo-społeczne, ekonomiczne i kulturowe czasu transformacji spowodowały istotne przemiany w obszarze problemów alkoholowych w zakresie struktury picia napojów alkoholowych, jego rozmiarów i dynamiki jego spożywania. Wzrosła znacząco popularność piwa podczas spotkań rodzinnych i towarzyskich (np. spotkania w pubach). W ostatnich latach, w przeliczeniu na jednego mieszkańca rocznie, to ponad 100 litrów piwa. Statystyczny Polak wypija pod postacią piwa pięć i pół litra czystego alkoholu, co oznacza trzykrotnie wyższe spożycie piwa niż dwadzieścia lat temu. Spożycie wódki nie uległo zmianie − to 3,2 litra rocznie, tyle wypija statystyczny obywatel, podobnie jak w 1993 roku. Biorąc pod uwagę spożycie piwa, wina i wódki, to łącznie w przeliczeniu na jedną osobę sprowadza się do 10,3 litra czystego alkoholu. Wzrasta liczba pijących kobiet oraz spożycie alkoholu wśród młodzieży w wieku 18-19 lat, odsetek osób w wieku maturalnym to aż 91%1. Studiujący młodzi dorośli pijący alkohol pili już zazwyczaj wcześniej, będąc w szkole średniej2. Sukcesywnie następowały także zmiany stylu życia, nie tylko w zakresie picia alkoholu, ale także innych zachowań, poglądów i przekonań oraz obyczajów. Styl życia stanowi ważną zmienną kulturową, jest zróżnicowany indywidualnie, środowiskowo i kulturowo. Styl życia różnicuje warstwy i grupy społeczne pod wieloma względami (np. ekonomicznie, realizowanie wartości i celów życiowych etc.). W socjologii ujmuje się styl życia, kładąc nacisk na wartości, które są dominujące dla danej jednostki lub grupy i wpływają na ich styl życia. Przemiany stylu życia wiążą się z przemianami makrospołecznymi i procesami globalizacji. „Styl życia to zespół codziennych zachowań jednostek lub zbiorowości społecznych, zachowań specyficznych ze względu na treść i konfigurację. Na całość, jaką stanowi styl życia, składają się zachowania ludzi i motywacje tych zachowań, a także pewne funkcje rzeczy będących czy to rezultatami, czy celami, czy instrumentami owych zachowań”3. Elementem stylu życia jednostki lub grupy może być nadużywanie alkoholu. Jak podaje Państwowa Agencja Rozwiązywania Problemów Alkoholowych (PARPA)4, alkohol znajduje się na trzecim miejscu wśród czynników ryzyka dla zdrowia (według Światowej Organizacji Zdrowia). Szacuje się, że w Polsce w grupie pijących alkohol problemowo jest około 900 tysięcy osób uzależnionych od alkoholu, a ponad 2 mln to pijący alkohol szkodliwie albo ryzykownie. Co ósmy Polak nie pije alkoholu w ogóle. Większość pijących spożywa alkohol w sposób niepowodujący negatywnych konsekwencji dla nich i osób z ich otoczenia. Na stronach internetowych PARPA można znaleźć definicję „zespołu uzależnienia od alkoholu” wskazującą, że jest to „(...) kompleks zjawisk fizjologicznych, behawioralnych i poznawczych, wśród których picie alkoholu dominuje nad innymi zachowaniami, które poprzednio miały dla pacjenta większą wartość. Głównym objawem zespołu uzależnienia jest pragnienie alkoholu (często silne, czasami przemożne). Wypicie alkoholu nawet po bardzo długim czasie abstynencji może wyzwalać zjawisko gwałtownego nawrotu innych objawów zespołu uzależnienia, znacznie szybciej niż pojawienie się uzależnienia u osób poprzednio nieuzależnionych”5. Na rozpoznanie uzależnienia pozwala identyfikacja co najmniej trzech czynników występujących w pewnym dłuższym okresie. Do czynników tych należą: pragnienie/poczucie przymusu picia (tzw. głód alkoholowy); upośledzona zdolność kontrolowania zachowań związanych z piciem; fizjologiczne objawy zespołu abstynencyjnego pojawiającego się, gdy picie alkoholu jest ograniczone (np. drżenie rąk, nadciśnienie tętnicze, nudności, wymioty, zaburzenia snu, omamy wzrokowe i lub słuchowe i inne); zwiększona tolerancja alkoholu; narastające zaniedbywanie innych/alternatywnych aktywności (np. przyjemności, zainteresowań), mimo szkodliwych następstw picia alkoholu występowanie uporczywego upijania się. Osoby, które piją alkohol mogą w ciągu swojego życia zmieniać styl picia alkoholu, przemieszczając się na continuum od abstynencji, poprzez picie ryzykowne i szkodliwe, aż do uzależnienia. Toksyczne działanie alkoholu etylowego i produktów pochodnych powoduje poważne zmiany chorobowe w układzie nerwowym, pokarmowym, krążenia, moczowym, hormonalnym oraz zaburzenia zdrowia psychicznego. Poza konsekwencjami zdrowotnymi uzależnienie od alkoholu wywołuje wiele złożonych problemów zaburzających relacje rodzinne, zawodowe i społeczne. Oddajemy do rąk czytelnika monografię ukazującą jednostkowe konsekwencje problemu alkoholowego w rodzinie widziane, doświadczane i przeżywane przez dzieci wychowywane w środowisku rodziny z problemem alkoholowym, a obecnie studentów różnych uczelni wyższych Katowic, którzy zgodzili się wziąć udział w badaniu i podzielić się bardzo osobistymi doświadczeniami, przemyśleniami i motywami decyzji o udziale w terapii. Narracje badanych studentów obrazują ich refleksje i przemyślenia dotyczące funkcjonowania domu rodzinnego, a w nim swoich rodziców. Istotną wartością w prezentowanych narracjach jest również opisywanie „dojrzewania” do zarządzania własnym rozwojem. Wypowiedzi studentów/respondentów cechuje dojrzałość w ocenie swoich doświadczeń, przeżyć i refleksji, dlatego zdecydowaliśmy się ich nie komentować, ponieważ „mówią same za siebie”. Celem monografii jest – poprzez odniesienie się do naukowej literatury przedmiotu – ukazanie szerszego tła społeczno-kulturowego i środowiskowego analizowanych zagadnień, a narracje badanych studentów dorosłych dzieci alkoholików są wyjątkowo ważną poznawczo egzemplifikacją osobistych doświadczeń i przeżyć w życiu codziennym. Dla wielu czytelników o podobnych doświadczeniach mogą być one inspiracją do podjęcia takich decyzji, które diametralnie zmienią ich dobrostan osobisty oraz jakość życia na lepsze i bardziej satysfakcjonujące, jak również skłonią do pomagania innym w podobnie trudnej sytuacji, którzy poszukują pomocy i możliwości zmiany. Warto także podkreślić, że treści naukowe i narracje badanych osób, zwłaszcza te dotyczące zarządzania rozwojem osobistym, prezentowane w przedmiotowej monografii mają znacznie szerszą perspektywę wykorzystania w praktyce życia społecznego i zawodowego. Młodzi dorośli podejmujący pracę zawodową w większości mają aspiracje/ambicje związane z osiąganiem sukcesu zawodowego i awansu społecznego. Dlatego tak istotne w tym procesie dążenia do sukcesu zawodowego i społecznego są kompetencje zawodowe, kompetencje i strategie przyszłościowe, a także motywacja i otwartość na rozwój osobisty, efektywne podejmowanie decyzji na większą skalę, inteligencja emocjonalna, umiejętności budowania relacji w zbiorowościach zawodowych i społecznych, autorefleksja. W przypadku zawodowych ambicji menedżerskich ważny jest potencjał liderski. Aby go rozwijać, niezbędne są zdolności poznawcze (tempo i efektywność uczenia się), radzenie sobie z podejmowaniem decyzji, a także cechy osobowe. Ponadto istotną rolę odgrywa motywacja do uczenia, otwartość umysłu i poczucie sprawczości. Problematyka będąca przedmiotem monografii jest społecznie i wychowawczo wyjątkowo ważna ze względu na rosnący społeczny problem alkoholizmu i jego szerokie spektrum konsekwencji. W obszarze zainteresowań badawczych byli, jak już wspomniano, studenci, którzy, co warto podkreślić, podejmując studia na wyższej uczelni, borykają się z wieloma trudnościami związanymi nie tylko z przystosowaniem się do nowego/innego niż dotychczas środowiska społecznego i terytorialnego (np. przybywając do wielkiego miasta ze wsi lub małego miasteczka), niosąc ze sobą jednocześnie bagaż często bolesnych doświadczeń z domu rodzinnego czy też środowiska szkolnego. Nawiązanie nowych relacji społecznych w środowisku akademickim dla wielu studentów, zwłaszcza na pierwszym roku studiów, może stanowić dużą trudność związaną z lękiem przed nieznanym/obcym. Ponadto pod względem systemu kształcenia akademickiego organizacja uczelni wyższej znacząco odbiega od tradycyjnego nauczania/kształcenia szkolnego. Obawy dotyczące spełnienia wymogów zaliczeniowych czy egzaminacyjnych są dodatkowo stresujące, zwłaszcza w sytuacjach braku wypracowanych umiejętności efektywnego uczenia się7. W początkach kształcenia akademickiego utrudnione jest także otrzymywanie wsparcia społecznego, zwłaszcza gdy nie było ono otrzymywane w domu rodzinnym, a ponadto kontakt z rodziną jest sporadyczny. Czas studiów to czas rozwoju i wchodzenia w dorosłość, czas podejmowania samodzielnych decyzji, czas problemów, niepokojów i sukcesów. Badacze podkreślają, że „(...) poczucie niepewności wypełnia niemal każdą przestrzeń życia człowieka, stanowiąc jego nieodłączną właściwość. W zależności od jego źródeł można kolejno wymienić: niepewność egzystencjalną, cywilizacyjną, makrospołeczną i mikrospołeczną. Do najważniejszych egzystencjalnych źródeł niepewności należy zaliczyć kruchość, przemijanie i skończoność życia ludzkiego, co łączy się bezpośrednio z przygodnością losu. Również przyszłość wywoduje poczucie niepewności, bowiem − jak twierdzi Piotr Sztompka − zawsze kojarzy się ona z »obcością«, tym, co nieznane i często niebezpieczne”8. Nie zagłębiając się we współcześnie ważne problemy funkcjonowania zawodowego nauczyciela akademickiego, co wymaga odrębnego opracowania, warto się odwołać do klasycznych koncepcji akcentowania określonych cech nauczyciela/pedagoga/wychowawcy, bo przecież nauczyciel akademicki jest także pedagogiem mającym wpływ wychowawczy na studentów, np. poprzez swoją wiedzę merytoryczną, styl pracy w procesie dydaktycznym, osobowość, styl relacji ze studentami, działalność społeczną w środowisku akademickim i poza nim. Użyte przez Tadeusza Kotarbińskiego (1886-1981), wybitnego polskiego filozofa, określenie „opiekun spolegliwy” współcześnie jest bardzo rzadko stosowane, a jeśli już, to pejoratywnie. Warto jednak podkreślić, że autor pod tym pojęciem rozumiał osobę wielce szlachetną, która dba o sprawy innych, co jest możliwe tylko wtedy, zaznaczał, gdy jest usposobiona życzliwie do podopiecznych, wrażliwa na potrzeby innych i jest skłonna do pomagania9. Wielu nauczycieli akademickich przyjmuje taką postawę wobec swoich studentów, będąc dla wielu z nich nie tylko mentorami w sferze rozwoju naukowego, ale też osobami niosącymi pomoc i wsparcie. W wychowaniu młodego pokolenia istotne jest tworzenie warunków sprzyjających kreowaniu cech niezbędnych nie tylko w ich rozwoju osobistym, ale także dla aktywnego funkcjonowania w demokratycznym społeczeństwie. Wiele takich cech wskazywała Maria Ossowska (1896-1974)10, współtwórczyni polskiej socjologii moralności11. Należą do nich m.in. aspiracje perfekcjonistyczne, które obejmują doskonalenie życia zbiorowego i jednostki, gdzie niezbędnym elementem jest hierarchia wartości, która wyznacza cele działania. Zanik autorytetów, krytyczna ocena wielu współczesnych aspektów życia społecznego powodują, że przekazywane młodemu pokoleniu wartości przez różne grupy i instytucje są ze sobą sprzeczne, co w konsekwencji powoduje wiele trudności i dylematów moralnych. Otwartość umysłu, jak wskazuje autorka, wiąże się z umiejętnością dokonywania rewizji swoich poglądów. Plastyczność umysłu, jak podkreśla, nie ma nic wspólnego z oportunizmem czy też każdorazowo przystosowywaniem się do nowych ideologii, a uczciwość intelektualna i krytycyzm łączą się z odpowiedzialnością za słowo. Rozwijanie umiejętności intelektualnych, krytycznego myślenia i refleksji w procesie kształcenia młodego pokolenia jest zawsze aktualne, bo rozwijające, ukierunkowane na pozytywną zmianę, np. jakości życia, środowiska życia itp. Debata publiczna o współczesnym systemie kształcenia wzbudza wiele kontrowersji. Maria Ossowska wskazuje także na tolerancję jako cechę, która dotyczy szanowania cudzych potrzeb i opinii, których nie dzielimy. Ludzie nauki z obszaru pedagogiki podkreślają m.in.: „Tolerancja to swoista w swych założeniach i odniesieniach postawa ludzka, która będąc szczególnie wartościową sama w sobie, jest dlatego w życiu ludzkim tak pożądana, gdyż jeśli nie jedynie, to głównie dzięki niej można wszędzie żyć zgodnie i szczęśliwie”. Wspomniana wcześniej autorka zwraca także uwagę na ważność uspołecznienia, czyli rozbudzanie zainteresowania sprawami społecznymi, ponieważ są one doniosłe dla współżycia społecznego. Są to, jak je nazywa, zainteresowania nieosobiste, do których należą także zainteresowania nauką, sztuką przekształcającą korzystnie psychikę człowieka w zakresie jego osobistych relacji z otoczeniem. Przemyślenia/koncepcje T. Kotarbińskiego i M. Ossowskiej, wybitnych polskich uczonych, pozwalają dostrzec, że wszystkie one stanowią wartościowe przesłanie dla nauczycieli akademickich w obszarze podejmowanych działań dydaktycznych i społeczno-wychowawczych, a także wspierających i pomocowych w środowisku akademickim. Monografia obejmuje cztery rozdziały. Rozdział pierwszy pt. Badania naukowe codzienności – wybrane aspekty to analiza życia codziennego jako współczesnego obszaru badań socjologicznych, a także wyjaśnienie ich znaczenia poznawczego. Kolejny rozdział pt. Rodzina z problemem alkoholowym − współuzależnienie zawiera definicję i charakterystykę rodziny z problemem alkoholowym, pokazuje wchodzenie w specyficzne role dzieci wychowywanych w tych rodzinach, jej funkcjonowanie jako systemu, a także opisuje fazy przystosowania się członków rodziny do sytuacji problemowej. Rozdział trzeci pt. Dzieciństwo w narracjach dorosłych dzieci alkoholików został podzielony na trzy szczegółowe zagadnienia, tj. moja rodzina, emocje i budowanie samooceny, konsekwencje dziecięcych doświadczeń w dorosłości, gdzie narracje badanych są tematycznym odzwierciedleniem tych zagadnień w ich doświadczeniach i przeżyciach. Zarządzanie rozwojem osobistym w perspektywie dorosłych dzieci alkoholików to rozdział, w którym respondenci dzielą się swoimi doświadczeniami w zakresie podejmowania decyzji o zmianie swojej życiowej sytuacji ukierunkowanej na rozwój, otrzymywanym wsparciem i efektami uczestniczenia w terapii. Zakończenie – konteksty edukacyjne ma charakter niekonwencjonalny, ponieważ koncentruje się na edukacji zdrowotnej i rodzajach profilaktyki ukierunkowanych na dobrostan jednostek i grup społecznych dla polepszania jakości życia. The global events of the third decade of the 21st century prove that the specter of humanitarian problems caused by health and military crises is real, and even very probable. Contemporary tourist entities, however, are not doomed only to a destructive reaction, but can also assume a significant social role for humanitarian aid. The aim of this article is to assess the changes taking place in the business models of spa services companies in the context of crisis situations caused by organizational changes and the COVID-19 pandemic. The research was conducted in 2018 and 2020, based on in-depth interviews as part of the generic contingency principle (GCP) methodology. In the course of the research, it was found that business models are not a frequently used management tool in spa enterprises. Based on the findings, a business model for spa businesses was created, followed by a more sustainable version, that can be shared in the form of open innovation. Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic during the project, further research was done on spa enterprises regarding the use of the spa infrastructure for supporting the health system during epidemic threats.

The starting point of the presented research is the theory of destination marketing, in which the concept of destination branding is the key element. Destination branding models include the idea of visual brand identity, which includes the logo as a crucial element. Since the 1980s, the concept of sustainable development has shaped the society and global economy, including tourism. Tourists are increasingly guided by the analysis of the tourist area in terms of the importance of nature and the possibility of spending free time responsibly. They look for a sustainable tourist offer. Therefore, the aim of this work is to evaluate the tourist offers of Polish territorial units in terms of visual message&mdash, logo and its content, and to examine whether they comprise design components that reveal the sustainable development of the destination. The research method was content analysis of promotional signs. Sustainable development in tourism focuses on three pillars: nature, responsible tourist activity, and the historical remains protected in a sustainable way. The authors search for such images in the logos. In the conclusion, the authors summarize that elements of nature and historical heritage are strongly present in the logos, which does not mean that the tourist offer is a balanced offer.

The principal objective of the article is to examine responsibility as a value helping to enhance the ability of organisation to deal with highly institutionalised environment in which it operates, and which has an impact on the decoupling process. The authors put forward a hypothesis that the development of the sphere of responsibility may support to deal with the complexity of organisation and its environment. To verify the hypothesis the review of literature was undertaken as the research method. Decoupling process is neither good nor bad although it bears ethical dilemmas. The results of the literature examination let to make the conclusion that responsibility is a value that allows organization to solve dilemmas resulting from the complexity and controversy of the decoupling phenomenon. The authors propose to concentrate on the individuals managing and co-forming the organisation in the light of responsibility.

Objectives: This article aims to provide a theoretical analysis of communication in public institutions with regard to ethical values and norms. More specifically, the objective is to try to understand how ethics is anchored in communication systems in organizations acting on behalf and for the community. Research Design & Methods: The paradigm which the authors refer to is the social communication theory, theories of professional ethics and writings of management specialists who work in the field of organisational communication. Findings: While exploring the literature in the said fields, the authors draw analytical conclusions regarding values and norms which should (normative approach) characterise the system of internal and external communication in public institutions, undertaking an attempt to build a theoretical model at the same time. Implications / Recommendations: The analysis shows that the values and norms necessary for public institutions to operate properly are connected primarily with the need for all groups of stakeholders focused around this process to co-operate. Contribution / Value Added: The authors try to organise the values and norms typical for communication systems in public institutions into a model.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the way tourism activities are conducted. Restrictions on moving from place to place have likely limited the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus but have also led to economic crisis in many countries around the world. In this article, we assessed the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the activities of cultural heritage tourism sites in Europe. Scientific research was carried out in industrial heritage tourism sites associated with the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH). Analysis of the literature and the results of our own research indicated a strong impact of the pandemic on the examined sites, expressed in the limitation of the operating time of the sites, a decrease in the number of tourists attended to, and a decrease in revenues. No significant reduction in employment was noticed. These sites were not generally used in preventive actions during the health crisis. Only some managers took an active part in supporting emergency services in a difficult situation. We concluded that taking up innovative functions by tourism enterprises should be open innovation.

The aim of academic education is no longer to prepare people to work in particular occupations, but to create the appropriate abilities which are useful in the labor market. This kind of education must embody a multi-aspect character, because it prepares people for life-long learning. Therefore, when creating a “learning society”, one should make an effort to think of axiological dimension of scientific-technical advance. One ought to take into account the human elements of education, especially ethical issues. Practice shows that human relationships bereft of a transcendent and ethical dimension, and which focus only on financial, economic goods, on profit, the market and competition, do not bring anyone happiness. Hence there is an enormous demand in the academic community for ethical reflection, thanks to which, man is not only improved in the anthropological dimension, but also in the socio-economic aspect. Publication of English-language versions of the volumes of the "Annales. Ethics in Economic Life" financed through contract no. 501/1/P-DUN/2017 from the funds of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education devoted to the promotion of scholarship.

The article deals with the issue of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the awareness of economics students as future managers responsible for the implementation of this idea in enterprises. Due to the fact that CSR is a source of many innovations today, the aim of the research was to learn about the awareness and opinions of students about CSR on such issues as: reasons for implementation, main activities, impact on profitability, and the need to explore and assess the usefulness of this knowledge. The research was conducted in 2019 among students from Poland and Georgia (as countries at various stages of advancement in the market economy). The results of the research were statistically analyzed in terms of obtaining answers to the hypotheses and research questions, checking the significance of differences in the answers due to nationality, and additionally, gender (chi-square test and test for two proportions). The primary contribution of this study is an exploration of the views of students on various issues of CSR and sustainability. The results showed that—according to students—ethical values, increased consumer awareness, and the desire to gain a competitive advantage are the most common reasons for the implementation of the CSR concept by companies. The vast majority of respondents indicated the need to enrich the knowledge of business ethics as an important aspect shaping the attitudes of employers and employees. The positive attitude of students regarding the impact of CSR on the company’s profitability was confirmed, although the authors expected more unambiguous results. Differences were also distinguished between the responses of students from both countries on some issues, such as: opinions on the developing ethical sensitivity, the need for the credibility of the EU economic policy, ecology and relations with the local community, as well as relations with the closest stakeholders of companies. The results of the conducted research suggest the need for intense activity in the field of public awareness and the requirement of personnel training for the skilful implementation of CSR principles in enterprises.

Making long-term decisions and developing successful policy is always a challenge for a governing body. Within the framework of causal mapping, we evolved a model for the problem of creating and reinforcing a city&rsquo, s image. Then, the model was enhanced into a quantitative form and processed with a novel approach: the extended form of the Weighted Influence Non-linear Gauge System (WINGS). A real-life case study of the city of Katowice showed that the presented approach can be helpful for city authorities. It reinforces the understanding of the problem, facilitates choosing policy options, and supports sustainable city development.

Practise shows that human relations bereft of transcend and ethic dimension, but concentrating only on financial economical goods, on profit, market and competition, don’t bring anyone happiness. Hence there is an enormous demand in the academic community an ethical reflection. Thanks to it human being is not only improved in anthropological dimension, but also in social-economical aspect.

Global changes in the world enforce to undertake various transformations also in the area of higher education. The aim of academic education is not more preparing to work in particular occupation, but rather to form appropriate abilities which are useful at the labour market. This kind of education must embody overall, multi-aspect character, because it prepares to lifelong learning. Therefore creating “learning society” one should make an effort into axiological dimension of scientific-technical advance. One ought to take heed of human elements of education and first of all of ethical issues. Prestige of academic teacher’s activities and his or her authority, should most of all result from moral attitude. Thus there is need in this kind of activity to use ethic virtues. Thanks to them human improves internally, but also can realize the concrete property outside. Virtues are necessary for person both for him or her as an average human being and also as a scholar and an educator. By setting own example one can have the most influence on students’ moral attitudes. Consequently an occasion arises to improve cardinal classic virtues, which include: prudence, deliberation, justice and courage, but also in the virtues that are related to them. These activities drive to form yourself in giving good example and have a huge impact on academic environment’s advancement.

The subject of responsibility has lately become very important in the context of the economic crisis. In economy, it took the form of social responsibility. It concerns activities additionally undertaken by organizations in order to establish correct relations with their employees and society, as well as with regard to the natural environment. Therefore, a very important role is played by the ethos of the undertaken socially responsible actions. To a large extent it is reflected in the ethical dimension. Thus, in enterprises, codes of ethics have become a base of axiology in building of the organization cultures. Unfortunately, Polish companies – as shown in the paper – still attach a minor role to the ethical dimension of business.

The increasing trend concerning loosing respect towards honoured authorities can nowadays be observed in most of the areas of social life. This refers also to universities and decreasing respect towards academics. The study at Karol Adamiecki Univeristy of Economics in Katowice, focused on structure and hierarchy of values declared by its students, were expected to reveal whether this assumption is true. The study characterized reasons for and directions of change in the declared hierarchy of values among the young. It was of high importance to diagnose the core of interactions between students and academics, i.e. to answer a question whether academics employed by the University are perceived by the students as persons whose personal approach and behaviours could be followed. The results show that nowadays academic is not respected as an authority for her/his students. The way to regain respect seems to be based on reinforcement of traditional master (tutor) – student relations, as university is this particular place where this kind of interrelations should develop. The task of building this relation needs time and efforts, as well as sets a high standard for academics to present unimpeachable ethical approach as well as openness towards students and dynamic changes in the environment.
