El TRT se está instaurando ampliamente en distintos centros y proporcionando los mejores resultados en el alivio de los pacientes con acúfeno. En Brasil, dos hechos contribuyen a una “resistencia” a este método: la demora a que se empiece a percibir la ‘tan esperada’ mejora y la falta de conocimiento sobre el TRT. Nuestro objetivo es describir la experiencia con el TRT en Brasil, mostrando algunas adaptaciones del método oficial. Revisamos 161 archivos de pacientes con acúfeno que han empezado el TRT. El aná- lisis de los resultados se llevó acabo 12 meses después de la indicación del TRT separando a los pacientes en 3 grupos de acuerdo con la categoría y modo de tratamiento: a) categorías 1, 3 y 4 tratados con ‘sesiones de consejos más generadores de ruido de banda ancha’ (n=38): el acúfeno ha mejorado en el 73,3%; b) categorías 1, 3 y 4 que han rechazado los generadores de ruido y han recibido ‘sesiones de consejos más sonidos ambientales suaves’ (n=74): el acúfeno ha mejorado en el 80%; c) categoría 2 tratados con ‘sesiones de consejos, audífonos y sonidos ambientales suaves’ (n=49): solo 23 han estado de acuerdo en llevar audífonos, sin embargo 16 de ellos han presentado automáticamente enmascaramiento del acúfeno y han sido excluidos del resultado del TRT. En este estudio, los pacientes han demostrado una gran restricción en usar audífonos o generadores de ruido, así que los principios del TRT tuvieron que ser reforzados a través del uso de sonidos ambientales suaves. Aquellos que han seguido el protocolo del TRT han mostrado excelentes tasas de mejora del acúfeno.

Introduction: The earlier the diagnosis and the intervention from the hearing impairment less will be the impact for the development of cognitive abilities, hearing and of speech from the child. Objective: Characterize the age in the diagnosis and the beginning of intervention of the hearing loss and the accompaniment of the assisted children in a public Brazillian hearing health service – Espaco Reouvir from the Clinicas Hospital from the Medical School from the University of Sao Paulo. Method: Retrospective study with information from 166 medical records from children regarding the: gender; etiology, type, degree and laterality of the hearing impairment; age in the diagnosis and adaptation of the Hearing aids (HA) and accompaniment in the service. Results: The sample was composed by 56% men and 44% women. The prevailing etiology was from multifactorial origin. The hearing loss from the neurosensory type occurred in 88,6% of the cases. The degree of moderate hearing loss was the most frequent (30,7%), symmetry in both ears was found in 69,9% of the cases and unilateral hearing loss in 2,4%. The average age in the diagnosis was of 5,46 years and in the intervention was of 6,86 years. A total of 96,98% of children had already completed the process of adaptation and 78,32% still remained in the accompaniment. Conclusion: The program Reouvir-HCFMUSP still receives children, both for diagnosis and or intervention in a late manner. However, still is possible the realization of the accompaniment of a significant number of users of the hearing aids, enabling a process of adaptation more effective.

O uso de próteses auditivas é uma boa opção para melhorar o zumbido e a perda de audição. OBJETIVO: Avaliar a resposta do zumbido à prótese retroauricular com molde aberto e com ventilação de alívio em pacientes com perda auditiva neurossensorial simétrica após um mês de uso. CASUÍSTICA E MÉTODOS: 50 pacientes atendidos no Grupo de Pesquisa em Zumbido com zumbido e perda auditiva bilateral foram submetidos a um ensaio clínico randomizado cego crossover: 26 pacientes iniciaram o ensaio utilizando molde aberto e 24 iniciaram usando ventilação de alívio. Após 30 dias de teste com o primeiro tipo de molde e um período de wash-out, o tipo de molde foi trocado e o segundo foi usado por 30 dias. O zumbido foi avaliado de modo qualitativo (melhora, inalterado e piora) e quantitativo (variação de 0 a 10 de uma escala numérica). RESULTADOS: 82% dos casos melhoraram do zumbido com pelo menos um tipo de molde e não houve diferença significante na diminuição do incômodo com o zumbido nas avaliações qualitativa e quantitativa com ambos os moldes. Entretanto 66% dos pacientes preferiram o molde aberto. CONCLUSÃO: A curto prazo, a melhora do zumbido com a prótese auditiva não depende do tamanho da ventilação do molde.Hearing aids may be a option to improve tinnitus and hearing loss. AIM: to evaluate tinnitus after one month use of BTE hearing aids with open molds and pressure vent molds in patients with symmetric sensorineural hearing loss. METHODS: 50 patients seen at our Tinnitus Clinic who presented bilateral tinnitus and hearing loss underwent a randomized blind crossover clinical trial: 26 first used BTE hearing aids with open molds, and the remaining 24 first used pressure vent molds. After 30 days using the first mold and a wash-out period, the type of earmold was changed and was applied for another 30-day-period. Tinnitus evaluation was done qualitatively (improved, unchanged and worsened) and quantitatively (variation on a numeric scale from 0 to 10). RESULTS: 82% of the cases reported improvement of tinnitus with at least one type of earmold; there was no significant difference in the reduction of discomfort due to tinnitus in the quantitative and qualitative evaluations. Although similar tinnitus control was obtained with both methods, 66% of the patients preferred the open mold. CONCLUSION: In a short-term evaluation improvement of tinnitus by the use of hearing aids does not depend on earmold ventilation.

Introdução: O zumbido é um sintoma que acomete cerca de 10% da população e pode prejudicar bastante a qualidade de vida, sendo considerado um importante problema de saúde pública mundial. Os modelos fisiopatológicos atuais do zumbido consideram que a compensação da perda auditiva poderia prevenir ou reverter mudanças no córtex auditivo central acerca do zumbido. Próteses auditivas com gerador de som integrado têm sido utilizadas como alternativa para potencializar o tratamento do zumbido nos pacientes com perda auditiva associada. Contudo, não existe evidência científica suficiente para suportar a superioridade do uso combinado de ferramentas em relação à amplificação convencional. Objetivo: verificar se o uso combinado de amplificação e gerador de som é mais eficaz do que somente amplificação na redução do incômodo com o zumbido em pacientes com zumbido e perda auditiva neurossensorial bilateral simétrica de grau leve a moderado. Métodos: 49 pacientes com zumbido e perda auditiva participaram de um ensaio clínico cego randomizado. Um grupo foi adaptado bilateralmente com uso combinado de amplificação e gerador de som e o outro grupo foi adaptado somente com amplificação. O incômodo com o zumbido foi medido pelo THI e escala numérica. As medidas psicoacústicas do zumbido também foram realizadas. As avaliações inicial e final foram realizadas por um avaliador cego. Resultados: Após três meses, no grupo da adaptação combinada, 62,5% dos pacientes apresentaram redução do incômodo com o zumbido e no grupo da adaptação simples, 78%, sem diferença estatisticamente significante entre os grupos. Para o THI, escala numérica e intensidade sonora de zumbido, detectou-se efeito do nível mínimo de mascaramento, em que maiores valores de nível mínimo de mascaramento estão associados a maior incômodo e maior intensidade do zumbido. Conclusão: O uso combinado de amplificação e gerador de som e o uso de amplificação convencional foram igualmente eficazes na redução do incômodo com o zumbido Introduction: Tinnitus is a symptom that affects about 10% of the population and can greatly impair the quality of life. In fact, it is considered as an important public health problem worldwide. The current pathophysiological models of tinnitus consider that the compensation of hearing loss could prevent or reverse changes in the auditory cortex. Hearing aids with an integrated sound generator have been used as an alternative to enhance the treatment of tinnitus in patients with hearing loss. However, there is no sufficient scientific evidence to support the superiority of the combined use of sound generator and amplification compared to conventional amplification alone. Objective: to verify whether the combined use of amplification and sound generator is more effective than amplification alone in reducing bothersome tinnitus in patients with mild to moderate bilaterally symmetrical sensorineural hearing loss. Methods: 49 patients with tinnitus and hearing loss underwent a blind randomized clinical trial. One group was bilaterally fitted with the combined use of amplification and sound generator, and the other group was fitted with amplification alone. The tinnitus annoyance was measured by THI and numerical scale. Psychoacoustic measurements of tinnitus were also performed. The initial and final assessments were performed by a blinded evaluator. Results: After 3 months, 62.5% of patients showed a reduction in tinnitus annoyance in the group of the combined use of amplification and sound generator, and 78% in the group with amplification alone, with no significant difference between the groups. For THI, numeric scale and tinnitus loudness, it was detected an effect of the MML, where higher values of MML are associated with greater discomfort due to tinnitus. Conclusion: The combined use of amplification and sound generator and the use of conventional amplification alone were equally effective in reducing tinnitus annoyance

INTRODUÇÃO: Quanto mais precoce o diagnóstico e intervenção da deficiência auditiva, menor será o impacto para o desenvolvimento das habilidades cognitivas, auditivas e de linguagem da criança. OBJETIVO: Caracterizar a idade no diagnóstico e no início da intervenção da perda auditiva e o acompanhamento de crianças atendidas em um serviço público de saúde auditiva brasileiro - Espaço Reouvir do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo. MÉTODO: Estudo retrospectivo com informações de 166 prontuários de crianças no que se refere a: gênero; etiologia, tipo, grau e lateralidade da deficiência auditiva; idade do diagnóstico e da adaptação do Aparelho de Amplificação Sonora Individual (AASI) e acompanhamento no serviço. RESULTADOS: A amostra foi composta por 56% homens e 44% mulheres. A etiologia predominante foi a de origem multifatorial. A perda auditiva do tipo neurossensorial ocorreu em 88,6% dos casos. O grau de perda auditiva moderado foi o de maior ocorrência (30,7%), simetria entre as orelhas foi encontrada em 69,9% dos casos e perda auditiva unilateral em 2,4%. A idade média no diagnóstico foi de 5,46 anos e na intervenção de 6,86 anos. Um total de 96,98% das crianças já havia completado o processo de adaptação e 78,32% permaneciam em acompanhamento. CONCLUSÃO: O Programa Reouvir - HCFMUSP ainda recebe crianças, seja para o diagnóstico e/ou para a intervenção, de maneira tardia. Entretanto, ainda assim faz-se possível à realização do acompanhamento de um número significativo de crianças usuárias de AASI, possibilitando um processo de adaptação mais efetivo. Introduction: Chronic tinnitus is a subjective multifactorial symptom, in which different treatments are proposed for its management, antioxidants have been shown as an apparently promising perspective. Açaí extract, made of an Amazon native fruit, has an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant capacity, capable of preventing and reducing diseases, being usually somehow associated with tinnitus. Aim: Verifying the effectiveness of the experimental treatment, açaí extract with everyday supplementation, to decrease the discomfort of chronic tinnitus, comparing its effect isolated and associated to speech therapy counseling in a single session and understanding the mechanisms related to the oxidative metabolism of this population. Methodology: A randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial was carried out with three groups: Placebo Group (starch capsules), Açaí Group (capsules with 100mg of açaí dry extract) and Açaí Group associated with Counseling (100mg of açaí and counseling in one session). The data obtained in the Tinnitus Investigation Anamnesis served as support to identify the symptomatological aspects and health conditions, evaluated with the following procedures in the evaluation and after three months of treatment: Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Minimum Masking Level (MML), Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), Beck Anxiety Inventory, The World Health Organization Quality of Life and oxidative stress biomarkers (Dichlorofluoresceinadiacetate, Lipid Peroxidation, Protein Carbonylation). Results: 45 subjects participated of this study, with a mean age of 52.9 years, 19 males and 26 females, with normal hearing thresholds or sensorineural hearing loss to a mild degree. There was a decrease in the discomfort with tinnitus at the moment after treatment, for the groups that used açaí supplementation, isolated açaí (VAS p = 0.006; THI p = 0.006), açaí associated with Counseling (VAS p = 0.002; THI p = 0.014). Placebo group decreased anxiety scores (p = 0.017) and MML (p = 0.013). There were no statistically significant differences for quality of life and oxidative stress biomarkers. Conclusion: The oral antioxidant supplementation, made of açaí extract, proved to be beneficial to reduce discomfort with chronic tinnitus, either isolated or with speech therapy counseling, regardless of the underlying etiology and it acan be considered as a treatment modality. In addition, monthly follow-up, without supplementation, helped to alleviate anxiety, improving symptom masking levels. However, the effect of this supplementation on oxidative stress biomarkers needs further investigation. Introdução: O zumbido crônico é um sintoma subjetivo multifatorial, no qual diferentes tratamentos são propostos para o seu gerenciamento, os antioxidantes têm se mostrado como uma perspectiva aparentemente promissora. O extrato de açaí, fruto nativo da região amazônica, possuiu capacidade anti-inflamatória e antioxidante, capaz de prevenir e reduzir doenças, geralmente interligadas de alguma forma ao zumbido. Objetivo: Verificar a eficácia do tratamento experimental, o extrato de açaí com suplementação diária, para atenuar o incômodo do zumbido crônico, comparando seu efeito isolado e associado ao aconselhamento fonoaudiológico em sessão única e compreender os mecanismos referentes ao metabolismo oxidativo dessa população. Metodologia: Foi realizado um ensaio clínico, randomizado, controlado por placebo, com três grupos: Grupo Placebo (cápsulas de amido), Grupo Açaí (cápsulas com 100mg de extrato seco de açaí) e Grupo Açaí associado ao Aconselhamento (100mg de açaí e aconselhamento em sessão única). Os dados obtidos na Anamnese de Investigação do Zumbido serviram de apoio para identificar os aspectos sintomatológicos e condições de saúde, avaliados com os seguintes procedimentos na avaliação e após três meses de tratamento: Escala Visual Analógica (EVA), Nível Mínimo de Mascaramento (NMM), Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), Inventário de Ansiedade de Beck, The World Health Organization Quality of Life e biomarcadores de estresse oxidativo (Diclorofluoresceínadiacetato, Peroxidação Lipídica, Carbonilação de proteínas). Resultados: Participaram 45 sujeitos, com média de 52,9 anos, 19 do gênero masculino e 26 do feminino, com limiares auditivos normais ou perda auditiva neurossensorial até grau leve. Houve diminuição no incômodo com o zumbido no momento pós tratamento, para os grupos que continham a suplementação com açaí, açaí isolado (EVA p= 0,006; THI p=0,006), açaí mais aconselhamento (EVA p=0,002; THI p=0,014). Grupo Placebo diminuiu escores de ansiedade (p=0,017) e NMM (p=0,013). Não houveram diferenças estatisticamente significantes para a qualidade de vida e biomarcadores de estresse oxidativo. Conclusão: A suplementação antioxidante oral, composta por extrato de açaí, mostrou-se benéfica para reduzir o desconforto com o zumbido crônico, seja isolado ou com aconselhamento fonoaudiólogico, independente da etiologia de base e pode ser considerada uma modalidade de tratamento. Além disso, o acompanhamento mensal, sem suplementação, auxiliou na atenuação da ansiedade, melhorando os níveis de mascaramento do sintoma. Entretanto, o efeito dessa suplementação em biomarcadores de estresse oxidativo precisa de maior investigação.

O zumbido é um sintoma relatado frequentemente na rotina clínica fonoaudiológica, a qual está inserida desde a avaliação e diagnóstico até a intervenção deste sintoma. Diversos estudos são desenvolvidos com objetivos direcionados à promoção de saúde auditiva, sendo a Telessaúde uma alternativa para este cenário. O objetivo deste estudo foi desenvolver e avaliar uma plataforma virtual de transmissão de informações sobre o gerenciamento do zumbido para fonoaudiólogos utilizando a Teleducação. Visando oferecer atualização e conhecimento aos profissionais de todas as regiões do país, foi proposta a realização do curso à distância, por meio do Portal do Zumbido, disponibilizado no endereço eletrônico zumbido.fob.usp.br/. A plataforma é composta por módulos que contemplam a introdução ao sintoma, avaliação e intervenção do zumbido, sendo que todos os materiais elaborados são em forma de Infográficos disponibilizados para download. Foram convidados a avaliar a plataforma, fonoaudiólogos das diferentes regiões do Brasil por meio de correio eletrônico, havendo cadastramento de 46 profissionais. Deste total, 38 responderam a avaliação da plataforma virtual de aprendizagem, por meio de um questionário sobre o conteúdo teórico e uma Ficha de Pesquisa Motivacional. Os profissionais responderam corretamente entre 90% e 100% das questões, demonstrando que o conteúdo foi absorvido de forma positiva, além disto, o material foi considerado impressionante após a realização da análise dos dados da Ficha de Pesquisa Motivacional. O Portal do Zumbido foi elaborado e disponibilizado no endereço eletrônico zumbido.fob.usp.br/, com avaliação satisfatória pelos profissionais participantes do estudo. Tinnitus is a prevalent symptom in the audiological clinics and the speech therapist participate in the assessment, diagnose and intervention of tinnitus. A range of studies are developed with the aim to promote auditory health, thus telemedicine is an option for this purpose. According to the purpose of telemedicine, the aim of the present study was to develop and to evaluate a virtual platform on tinnitus management for speech therapists. The purpose was to offer distance learning course, by means of Portal do Zumbido, available in the following eletronic address: zumbido.fob.usp.br/. The platform was composed for modules and comprised the introduction to the symptom, assessment and intervention for tinnitus and the elaborated information is presented by means of infographics, available to download. Speech therapists of different regions of Brazil, receveid an e-mail invitation to participate and avaluate the study and 46 were registered. From all the 46 speech therapists registered, 38 evaluated the virtual platform, by means of a questionnaire about the theoric content and a Motivational Research. The professionals correctly answered 90% and 100% of the questions, which means the content was learned, in addittion, the content was considered to be impressive when the Motivational Research was analysed. The Portal do Zumbido was elaborated and provided in the following eletronic address: zumbido.fob.usp.br/, furthermore, the speech therapists made satisfactory evaluation.

Introdução: O zumbido está presente em grande parcela das queixas clínicas, podendo ser considerado um problema de saúde pública prejudicial à qualidade de vida (QV) do indivíduo. Proposição: Indicar as diretrizes para intervenção fonoaudiológica do zumbido por meio de avaliação específica, seleção, verificação e validação do aparelho de amplificação sonora individual (AASI) combinado ao gerador de som (GS). Material e Métodos: Foram elegíveis para compor a amostra 40 indivíduos de ambos os sexos com perda auditiva e queixa de zumbido. Os mesmos foram atendidos conforme a demanda clínica e submetidos aos seguintes procedimentos: anamnese e história pregressa da queixa, audiometria de alta frequência (AAF), imitanciometria e acufenometria com a pesquisa dos limiares psicoacústicos de pitch, loudness e limiar mínimo de mascaramento, verificação do GS, além da aplicação das ferramentas Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) e Escala Visual Analógica (EVA). A totalidade da amostra foi adaptada com AASI e GS da marca Siemens, participaram de uma sessão de aconselhamento com apoio de material digital e foram avaliados em duas situações: Avaliação Inicial (antes da adaptação do AASI e GS) e, Avaliação Final (6 meses, após a adaptação). As análises estatísticas realizadas foram descritivas e inferenciais, adotado nível de significância de 5% e realizados o Teste T-Pareado e o teste Correlação de Spearman. Resultados: Houve benefício com uso do AASI combinado ao GS a partir dos valores estatisticamente significantes, e fortes correlações entre os dados da verificação do GS em relação a acufenometria e aos questionários de incômodo/severidade. Em relação a verificação do GS é importante ressaltar que a totalidade da amostra selecionou a estimulação acústica efetiva baseada nos próprios níveis de conforto, comprovado neste estudo ser a intensidade suficiente para prognóstico positivo já que os ruídos dos usuários foram encontrados abaixo dos limiares psicoacústicos da acufenometria. Conclusão: O presente estudo concluiu que a estimulação acústica abaixo do nível do zumbido, torna a terapia acústica efetiva, assegurando a ausência do mascaramento com a melhora do incômodo. Dado este que especifica que a verificação do GS foi efetiva nas medidas em orelha real, e importante na avaliação e intervenção da queixa. Introduction: Tinnitus is present in a large part of chronic health complaints, and it is considered a public health problem injurious to the individual\'s quality of life (QL). Proposition: The aim of this study was to indicate the guidelines for speech and hearing pathology intervention of tinnitus through specific evaluation, selection, verification and validation of the hearing aids (HA) combined with the sound generator (SG). Material and Methods: 40 individuals of both genders with hearing loss and tinnitus complaint were eligible to compose the sample. They were attended according to clinical demand and submitted to the following procedures: anamnesis and previous complaint history, high frequency audiometry (HFA), immittanciometry and acuphenometry with the research of psychoacoustic thresholds of pitch, loudness and minimum masking threshold, SG, in addition to the application of the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) tools. The entire sample was adapted with Siemens HA and SG, participated in a counseling session with support of digital material and were evaluated in two situations: Initial Assessment (before the HA and SG adaptation) and Final Assessment (6 months, after adaptation). The statistical analyzes were descriptive and inferential, adopted a significance level of 5% and the T Paired Test and the Spearman Correlation test were performed. Results: The results showed that there was a benefit with the use of HA combined with SG from the statistically significant values and strong correlations between the SG verification data regarding acuphenometry and the nuisance/severity questionnaires. Regarding the verification of SG, it is important highlight that the entire sample selected the effective acoustic stimulation based on the own comfort levels, which was proved in the present study to be sufficient intensity for positive prognosis whereas the users\' noises were found below the psychoacoustic thresholds of acuphenometry. Conclusion: The present study concluded that acoustic stimulation below the level of tinnitus makes acoustic therapy effective, ensuring the absence of masking with the improvement of the nuisance. Given this it specifies that the GS verification was effective in the measures in real ear, and important in the evaluation and intervention of the complaint.

Introdução: o zumbido é uma desordem que acomete 10 a 15% da população mundial e por se tratar de um sintoma subjetivo que apresenta grande repercussão na vida do indivíduo, pesquisas científicas na área são de grande importância. A terapia sonora realizada por meio do aparelho de amplificação sonora individual (AASI) com gerador de som (GS) associado é uma das formas de tratamento do zumbido e vem ganhando espaço nos serviços de saúde auditiva. Proposição: analisar a eficácia de quatro ruídos mascaradores no alívio do zumbido de indivíduos com perda auditiva sensorioneural bilateral de grau leve e moderado e a influência dos mesmos na percepção da fala. Casuística e Métodos: o estudo foi desenvolvido na Clínica de Fonoaudiologia da Faculdade de Odontologia de Bauru (FOB) - USP após a aprovação do Comitê de Ética e anuência do paciente. Participaram 35 indivíduos com zumbido e perda auditiva sensorioneural leve e moderada bilateral, divididos em quatro grupos, sendo três grupos compostos por nove indivíduos e um grupo por oito. Todos os grupos passaram pela adaptação do AASI com GS, sendo regulados no modo combinado (GS + amplificação). No grupo 1 (G1) foi aplicado o estímulo White Noise, no grupo 2 (G2) o Pink Noise, o grupo 3 (G3), o Speech Noise e o grupo 4 (G4) o High Tone Noise. Todos os pacientes passaram pelos seguintes procedimentos: anamnese, diagnóstico audiológico composto por audiometria de alta frequência, imitanciometria e acufenometria. Foram aplicados os questionários Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), a Escala Análoga Visual (EAV) e avaliação da percepção da fala por meio do Hearing in Noise Test (HINT) na situação de fala no silêncio (FS) e ruído frontal (RF). Os procedimentos foram realizados pré e pós-intervenção auditiva, após três meses de uso do AASI. Os resultados foram tabulados e descritos de acordo com a análise estatística descritiva de todas as variáveis estudadas. Resultados: todos os grupos apresentaram diferença estatisticamente significativa para o questionário THI, EAV e HINT na situação de FS, pré e pós-intervenção auditiva. Na situação de RF, somente o G2 apresentou diferença significativa. Porém, na comparação entre grupos não houve diferença significativa. Conclusão: os quatro ruídos mascaradores demonstraram ser igualmente eficazes na melhora do zumbido e na percepção de fala na situação de silêncio, porém no RF, o G2 apresentou melhora significativa. Introduction: tinnitus is a disorder that affects 10 to 15% of the world\'s population and since it is a subjective symptom which presents great impact on the individual\'s life, all scientific contribution becomes significant and important. The sound therapy performed through the individual sound amplification apparatus (AASI) with associated sound generator (GS) is one of the forms of tinnitus treatment and has been obtaining space in the hearing health services. Proposition: analyzing the effectiveness of four masking noises in relieving tinnitus of individuals with mild and moderate bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and influence thereof on speech perception. Casuistry and Methods: the study was developed at the Speech Therapy Clinic of the Faculty of Dentistry of Bauru (FOB) - USP after approval by the Ethics Committee and patient consent. Participants were 35 individuals with tinnitus and bilateral mild and moderate sensorineural hearing loss, divided into four groups, three groups composed of nine subjects and one group comprising eight subjects. All groups underwent hearing loss adaptation with GS, being regulated in the combined mode (GS + Amplification). In Group 1 (G1) the White Noise stimulus was applied, in group 2 (G2) Pink Noise was applied, in group 3 (G3), Speech Noise and in group 4 (G4) the High Tone Noise was applied. All patients were subjected to the following procedures: anamnesis, audiological diagnosis composed of high frequency audiometry, immittanciometry and acuphenometry. The Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), Visual Analogue Scale (EAV) and Speech Perception Assessment questionnaires were applied through the Hearing in Noise Test (HINT) in the speech silence (FS) and frontal noise (RF) situation. The procedures were performed prior to and after hearing intervention, after three months of use of AASI. The results were tabulated and described according to the descriptive statistical analysis of all variables studied. Results: all groups presented a statistically significant difference for the THI, EAV and HINT questionnaires in the FS, pre- and post-hearing intervention. In the RF situation, only G2 presented a significant difference. However, in the comparison among groups there was no significant difference. Conclusion: the four masking noises proved to be equally effective in improving tinnitus and in speech perception in the silent situation, but in RF situation, G2 presented significant improvement.
