Under a general categorical procedure for the extension of dual equivalences as presented in this paper's predecessor, a new algebraically defined category is established that is dually equivalent to the category $\bf LKHaus$ of locally compact Hausdorff spaces and continuous maps, with the dual equivalence extending a Stone-type duality for the category of extremally disconnected locally compact Hausdorff spaces and continuous maps. The new category is then shown to be isomorphic to the category $\bf CLCA$ of complete local contact algebras and suitable morphisms. Thereby, a new proof is presented for the equivalence ${\bf LKHaus}\simeq{\bf CLCA}^{\rm op}$ that was obtained by the first author more than a decade ago. Unlike the morphisms of $\bf CLCA$, the morphisms of the new category and their composition law are very natural and easy to handle., Comment: 32 pages

As proved by Dimov [Acta Math. Hungarica, 129 (2010), 314--349], there exists a duality L between the category HLC of locally compact Hausdorff spaces and continuous maps, and the category DHLC of complete local contact algebras and appropriate morphisms between them. In this paper, we introduce the notions of weight and of dimension of a local contact algebra, and we prove that if X is a locally compact Hausdorff space then w(X)=w(L(X)), and if, in addition, X is normal, then dim(X)=dim(L(X))., Comment: 31 pages

To investigate in vitro secretion of cytokines from stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) in the early phase of severe sepsis (septic phase) and one month later in postseptic phase, when the patient is stabilized (healthy stage). The quantity determinations of TNF-, IL-6, IL-12 and IL-10 were performed in culture supernatant by ELISA. The level of apoptosis of cultured cells was determined as well. The plasma level of lipid peroxidation products (MDA) as a marker of oxidative stress and the activity of the erythrocyte antioxidant enzyme catalase (CAT) in the patient during the septic stage were also explored. We observed no significant difference in the secreted quantity of TNF and IL-6 upon LPS, C3bgp, PHA and PWM stimulation alone by the PBMC of the patient. The IL-12 production depended on the individual stimuli applied. Further, the patients’ PBMC in post septic stage exhibited a suppressed IL-12 production. A well expressed hyporeactivity of PBMC isolated from septic stage towards the production of IL-10 upon stimulation, was also observed while the production of IL-10 in post-septic stage in different quantities depended on the stimuli used. At the same time the rate of apoptosis has clear prevalence in septic stage and is greatly influenced by different stimuli.

The aim of this paper is to give two new descriptions of the ordered set of all (up to equivalence) regular compactifications of a completely regular frame. F and to introduce and study the notion of A-frame as a generalization of the notion of Alexandroff space (known also as zero-set space) (Alexandroff[l], Gordon[15]). A description of the ordered set of all (up to equivalence) A-compactifications of an A-frame by means of an ordered by inclusion set of some distributive lattices (called AP-sublattices) is obtained. It implies that any A-frame has a greatest A-compactification and leads to the descriptions of A new category isomorphic to the category of proximal frames is introduced. A question for compactifications of frames analogous to the R. Chandler's question [8, p. 71] for compactifications of spaces is formulated and solved. Many results of [1], [3], [15], [23], [9], [10] and [11] are generalized.

It is well known that the Wallman-type compactifications of a Tychonoff space X can be obtained as spaces of all regular zero-one measures on suitable lattices of subsets of X (see [1, 2, 4, 12]). Using the technique developed in [5, 6], we find for any Tychonoff space X a Boolean algebra [Bscr ]X and a set [Lscr ]X of sublattices of [Bscr ]X having the following property: for any Hausdorff compactification cX of X there exists a (unique) LcX ∈ [Lscr ]X such that the maximal spectrum of LcX and the space of all u-regular zero-one measures on the Boolean subalgebra b(LcX) of [Bscr ]X, generated by LcX, are Hausdorff compactifications of X equivalent to cX. Let us give more details now.
