The Social Internet of Things (SIoT), is revolutionizing how we interact with our everyday lives. By adding the social dimension to connecting devices, the SIoT has the potential to drastically change the way we interact with smart devices. This connected infrastructure allows for unprecedented levels of convenience, automation, and access to information, allowing us to do more with less effort. However, this revolutionary new technology also brings an eager need for service recommendation systems. As the SIoT grows in scope and complexity, it becomes increasingly important for businesses and individuals, and SIoT objects alike to have reliable sources for products, services, and information that are tailored to their specific needs. Few works have been proposed to provide service recommendations for SIoT environments. However, these efforts have been confined to only focusing on modeling user-item interactions using contextual information, devices' SIoT relationships, and correlation social groups but these schemes do not account for latent semantic item-item structures underlying the sparse multi-modal contents in SIoT environment. In this paper, we propose a latent-based SIoT recommendation system that learns item-item structures and aggregates multiple modalities to obtain latent item graphs which are then used in graph convolutions to inject high-order affinities into item representations. Experiments showed that the proposed recommendation system outperformed state-of-the-art SIoT recommendation methods and validated its efficacy at mining latent relationships from multi-modal features.

Managing the explosion of data from the edge to the cloud requires intelligent supervision such as fog node deployments, which is an essential task to assess network operability. To ensure network operability, the deployment process must be carried out effectively in terms of two main factors: connectivity and coverage. The network connectivity is based on fog node deployment which determines the physical topology of the network while the coverage determines the network accessibility. Both have a significant impact on network performance and guarantee the network QoS. Determining an optimum fog node deployment method that minimizes cost, reduces computation and communication overhead, and provides a high degree of network connection coverage is extremely hard. Therefore, maximizing coverage as well as preserving network connectivity is a non-trivial problem. In this paper, we proposed a fog deployment algorithm that can effectively connect the fog nodes and cover all edge devices. Firstly, we formulate fog deployment as an instance of multi-objective optimization problems with a large search space. Then, we leverage Marine Predator Algorithm (MPA) to tackle the deployment problem and prove that MPA is well-suited for fog node deployment due to its rapid convergence and low computational complexity compared to other population-based algorithms. Finally, we evaluate the proposed algorithm on a different benchmark of generated instances with various fog scenario configurations. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm is capable of providing very promising results when compared to state-of-the-art methods for determining an optimal deployment of fog nodes.

With the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and its potential integration with the traditional Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs), we have witnessed the emergence of the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), which promises to seamlessly integrate into smart transportation systems. However, the key characteristics of IoV, such as high-speed mobility and frequent disconnections make it difficult to manage its security and privacy. The Blockchain, as a distributed tamper-resistant ledge, has been proposed as an innovative solution that guarantees privacy-preserving yet secure schemes. In this paper, we review recent literature on the application of blockchain to IoV, in particular, and intelligent transportation systems in general.

Metaverse is a new type of Internet application and social form that integrates a variety of new technologies. It has the characteristics of multi-technology, sociality, and hyper spatiotemporality. This paper introduces the development status of Metaverse, from the five perspectives of network infrastructure, management technology, basic common technology, virtual reality object connection, and virtual reality convergence, it introduces the technical framework of Metaverse. This paper also introduces the nature of Metaverse's social and hyper spatiotemporality, and discusses the first application areas of Metaverse and some of the problems and challenges it may face.

With the increase of active Internet users, various physical, social, and mental disorders have recently emerged because of the excessive use of technology. Cyber-Syndrome is known as the condition that appears due to the excessive interaction with the cyberspace, and it affects the users' physical, social, and mental states. In this paper, we discuss the etiology and symptoms of Cyber-Syndrome according to theories of Cyber-Physical-Social-Thinking (CPST) space and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. In addition, we also propose an entropy-based mechanism for recovery of Cyber-Syndrome, to provide potential guidance for clinical detection and diagnosis. Cyber-Syndrome has attracted much attention these days, and more in-depth exploration is needed in the future.

Online social media provides a channel for monitoring people's social behaviors and their mental distress. Due to the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 people are increasingly using online social networks to express their feelings. Consequently, there is a significant amount of diverse user-generated social media content. However, COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live, study, socialize and recreate and this has affected our well-being and mental health problems. There are growing researches that leverage online social media analysis to detect and assess user's mental status. In this paper, we survey the literature of social media analysis for mental disorders detection, with a special focus on the studies conducted in the context of COVID-19 during 2020-2021. Firstly, we classify the surveyed studies in terms of feature extraction types, varying from language usage patterns to aesthetic preferences and online behaviors. Secondly, we explore detection methods used for mental disorders detection including machine learning and deep learning detection methods. Finally, we discuss the challenges of mental disorder detection using social media data, including the privacy and ethical concerns, as well as the technical challenges of scaling and deploying such systems at large scales, and discuss the learnt lessons over the last few years., Comment: Submitted to ACM Computing Surveys

Personality-aware recommendation systems have been proven to achieve high accuracy compared to conventional recommendation systems. In addition to that, personality-aware recommendation systems could help alleviate cold start and data sparsity problems. Most of the existing works use Big-Five personality model to represent the user's personality, this is due to the popularity of Big-Five model in the literature of psychology. However, from personality computing perspective, the choice of the most suitable personality model that satisfy the requirements of the recommendation application and the recommended content type still needs further investigation. In this paper, we study and compare four personality-aware recommendation systems based on different personality models, namely Big-Five, Eysenck and HEXACO from the personality traits theory, and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MPTI) from the personality types theory. Following that, we propose a hybrid personality model for recommendation that takes advantage of the personality traits models, as well as the personality types models. Through extensive experiments on recommendation dataset, we prove the efficiency of the proposed model, especially in cold start settings.

Vehicular social networking is an emerging application of the promising Internet of Vehicles (IoV) which aims to achieve the seamless integration of vehicular networks and social networks. However, the unique characteristics of vehicular networks such as high mobility and frequent communication interruptions make content delivery to end-users under strict delay constrains an extremely challenging task. In this paper, we propose a social-aware vehicular edge computing architecture that solves the content delivery problem by using some of the vehicles in the network as edge servers that can store and stream popular content to close-by end-users. The proposed architecture includes three components. First, we propose a social-aware graph pruning search algorithm that computes and assigns the vehicles to the shortest path with the most relevant vehicular content providers. Secondly, we use a traffic-aware content recommendation scheme to recommend relevant content according to their social context. This scheme uses graph embeddings in which the vehicles are represented by a set of low-dimension vectors (vehicle2vec) to store information about previously consumed content. Finally, we propose a Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) method to optimize the content provider vehicles distribution across the network.
