The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on a person’s life, both physically and mentally. With the amount of information available, people can use this information to overcome the anxiety they face. This study aims to identify the information behavior of COVID-19 survivors and the role of libraries in social media as information institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research method used is quantitative descriptive. Data collection was carried out through a survey using Google Forms. The number of data collected was 148 respondents. The location was East Java, including Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Tuban, Bangkalan, Magetan, Blitar, Situbondo, Jombang, Gresik, Kediri, Ponorogo, Lamongan, Madiun, Ngawi, Banyuwangi, and Tulungagung. The results show that most people fulfill their information needs regarding the treatment of COVID and its development (48.6%), as well as a healthy lifestyle (15.5%) through social media. In accessing information, a small number of respondents experienced obstacles such as the amount of hoax information (6.1%), the available information was considered incomplete (5.4%), limited internet quota (4.1%), and problematic network signal (4.1%). Based on these results, we need the role of libraries that are able to provide information to meet the information needs of users.

Purpose This paper aims to explore the existence of Metaverse or 3D virtual libraries and how they use Metaverse to expand library services. Design/methodology/approach The authors use literature to search projects and research papers that discuss the metaverse library. They also did observations on metaverse libraries. Findings There are some virtual realities or metaverse platforms that a library or virtual community can use to build their 3D virtual world. Some libraries already create a virtual world library or metaverse library. However, those initiatives are still in the prototype stage and are used for exhibitions and projects. Originality/value This paper overviews and builds a simple understanding of the metaverse library. The value of the paper is giving motivation when building the metaverse library. This initiative shows that big hi-tech companies do not dominate Metaverse.

Purpose This paper aims to assess to which extent the legality of electronic archive management can realize Indonesia E-government. This aspect of legality can have a significant impact on the application ofe-government in a country. The legality focuses on the archival legislation of the Republic of Indonesia in discussion related to the management of electronic archives. Design/methodology/approach The method used in this research is content analysis with qualitative research approach. The data for this research was taken from the Undang-Undang Kearsipan Indonesia (Indonesia Archives Constitution) documents that is available on the official website of Arsip Nasional Republik Indonesia (ANRI) (National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia). To complete the discussion in this paper also conducted literature study using secondary literature sources. Findings From the aspect of legality, the management of electronic archives does not yet support the implementation of Indonesia E-government. From the aspect of legality, the laws governing the management of electronic archives has not yet existed, there is only the Regulation of the Head of the National Archives regarding the guidelines of general policy for electronic records management in 2012. Research limitations/implications This research is limited to the identification of comprehensive analysis on all documents of the ANRI on the management of electronic archives in the context of Indonesia E-government. From that, the gap between those aspects can be examined. Social implications This paper reveals the importance of legality in the form of regulation of electronic records management in Indonesia E-government. Findings from this research can be useful for the Indonesia E-government program. Originality/value Research with content analysis method on management of electronic archive on Law of Archiving in Republik Indonesia has never been done before. This also applies to the research on the relationship between the management of electronic archives with the application of Indonesia E-government.

Research on library use has been carried out with the results that the level of library use by digital natives is still relatively low. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that cause digital native users to use or not use a library. The method of this study use a descriptive qualitative research methods, and total of 341 digital natives in 25 cities in East Java were given open questions to express their experiences when using a library, resulting in 991 answers (respondents answered more than 1 opinion about the library). The data analysis technique was carried out in 3 stages namely open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The result of this study found something new that the main factor of library use or not use is service quality (68.9 %) not from external factor, where users prioritise comfort while in the library, even though the internet as a library rival and as a source of information offers the speed and ease of access to information. Because of that innovation is done by improving the factors that cause users to use or not use the library.

PurposeThis study investigates the level of artificial intelligence (AI) awareness among library leaders, practitioners and scientists of Indonesian academic libraries to elucidate the benefits of AI implementation and its necessary infrastructure and challenges.Design/methodology/approachThe study adopted a purposive sampling technique to select the 38 participants and thematic analysis to analyze the data, identifying eight themes: understanding of AI, AI adoption, benefits of AI, competencies needed to support AI, facilities to support AI, factors supporting AI adoption, AI-inhibiting factors and expectations of AI.FindingsDifferent viewpoints provided full awareness among library stakeholders and sufficient information to begin AI initiatives in Indonesian libraries as leaders, practitioners and scientists had a favorable, open and encouraging outlook on AI.Research limitations/implicationsThe study does not investigate variations in perspectives between the participants, but it examines their understanding of AI and elaborates the results into the concept of an intelligent library. Moreover, this study only uses samples from academic libraries.Practical implicationsLibraries can take these results into consideration before implementing AI, especially in technology and facilities, librarian competency with regard to AI and leadership roles in AI projects.Social implicationsLibrary boards and library associations can use this research as a source to create guidelines about AI implementation in academic libraries.Originality/valueThe study addresses the gap in the research on university libraries' readiness and awareness to implement AI, especially in developing countries.

This study aims to investigate the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in libraries from 2011 to 2020. This study uses PRISMA guidelines to perform a systematic literature review (SLR). The articles were obtained mainly from the SCOPUS database, with Google Scholar as the supporting database. AI can easily be adopted in libraries, especially for technical services such as classification and cataloguing, library management such as staffing and decision-making, library services such as referencing and information service, and for information literacy. Successful AI adoption is, however, still debatable, because there are many requirements that need to be met, so that it can be inclusively adopted in libraries. There is a lack of research on the application of AI in libraries, especially in the context of its actual implementation. The results of this study offer insights on the implementation of AI in library support services.

Background: In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic situation, hoax news emerged which often caused people to panic and make wrong decisions. The emergence of this hoax is because many people are not literate with information, so they trust all the information that is circulating. People also do not have social awareness to filter the information they get. Objective: This article aims to present the results of the socialization of digital literacy education to anticipate hoax news. Method: The method used in this community service is to provide socialization on the dangers of hoaxes and literacy education digital to anticipate hoax news, then explain how to search for valid and accurate information. Results: The result of this community service activity was an increase in public understanding of how to find valid and accurate Covid-19 information / news. As well as people's understanding of how to differentiate between true and false information about Covid-19. Conclusion: This community service activity has a positive impact on increasing public understanding of the spread of Covid-19 news on the internet.

This research aims to develop a smartbot prototype that can be used by libraries to help librarians improve their information service quality. This study will contribute to academic libraries, especially supporting information and reference services by providing quick responses and accurate answers. Librarians will benefit from this prototype and users will also receive fast and accurate information from the library. The method used in this study consists of two phases: Plan and Design. This paper focuses on the planning and design process of the library smartbot prototype. These activities are as follows: Plan, where strategic planning is carried out, including looking at the organizational structure in which the smartbot will be implemented, examining the technology in the library, and collecting data and information that will support the smartbot. The Design phase defines the tasks in the modeling process and building the prototype. Artificial intelligence studies are rarely conducted in the library field, especially in Indonesia.

Purpose Facebook is a social networking media that has a big share in sharing information. Therefore, the college library that aims to meet the needs of the civitas academic information utilize this social media. This study aims to determine the level of user satisfaction of Facebook library Universitas Airlangga. Design/methodology/approach The method used is descriptive quantitative approach. The research location is at Universitas Airlangga Library Surabaya, Indonesia. The sampling technique is purposive, using the criteria of the academic community of Universitas Airlangga who become an active member or visit the Facebook of social network Facebook owned library at least three times in the past one month. The number of samples in this study were 220 respondents. Findings The results of this study indicate that the level of user satisfaction on the Facebook library shows the highest is as surveillance and the level of subsequent satisfaction in a row is as social relationship, individual identity and diversion entertainment. The biggest motive utilizing the Facebook library is to search for information about the library. Practical implications In the era of booming social media Facebook for teenagers who are the largest users of college libraries, utilizing Facebook social networking media in the library is considered effective. Originality/value This area is has been rarely researched by researchers in Indonesia.

Pelayanan yang dilakukan oleh perpustakaan secara langsung ataupun tidak akan menimbulkan citra perpustakaan baik citra positif maupun negatif. Citra tersebut menimbulkan persepsi pengguna dan akhirnya membuat penilaian pengguna terhadap perpustakaan. Dalam penelitian ini penulis ingin mengetahui mengenai tingkat persepsi pengguna atas kualitas layanan perpustakaan perguruan tinggi negeri yang meliputi dimensi affect of service, information control, library as place. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif yang sifatnya deskriptif dan teknik pengumpulan data kuisioner dengan teknik sampling nonrandom sampling dengan kriteria purposive sampling di Perpustakaan Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) dan Perpustakaan Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA). Teknik pengolahan data yakni dengan membuat nilai rata-rata di setiap indikator kualitas layanan. Konsep kualitas layanan yang digunakan adalah LibQual+™ yang terdiri dari affect of service, information control, dan library as place. Hasilnya bahwa nilai rata-rata penilaian pengguna pada kinerja ketiga perpustakaan di atas adalah baik. Untuk perpustakaan UNESA dan ITS, urutan penilaian dari yang terbaik oleh pengguna adalah library as place, information control dan affect of service . Urutan penilaian pengguna atas dimensi yang terbaik pada perpustakaan Unair secara berturut-turut adalah library as place, affect of service , dan information control . These images create the perception of users and ultimately make an assessment of the library users. In this study the authors wanted to know about the level of user perception on the quality of library services such as a ffect of service, information control, and library as place. This study uses a quantitative approach that are descriptive and questionnaire data collection techniques with nonrandom sampling with purposive sampling criteria in the library of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) , Universitas Airlangga ( Unair ) and the library of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA). D ata processing techniques to make the average value in every indicator of service quality . The concept of service quality used is LibQual + ™ consisting of a ffect of service, information control, and library as place. The result is that the average value assessment on the performance of the three library users above is good. For UNESA and ITS libraries , order an assessment of the best by the user is a library as place, information control and a ffect of service. In Unair library, u ser ratings on the dimensions of the order of the best in a row is a library as place, a ffect of service, and information control. This study aims to acknowledge the information needed by visually-impaired students in Indonesia. The results of this study will be used as a basis to develop library services that can be useful for visually-impaired students. The research was conducted in Foundation for Blind Handicapped Persons (YPAB) in Surabaya and involved 30 visually-impaired students ranging from 11-20 years of age. The research was conducted using questionnaires and interviews at YPAB. From the results it can be known that all students regularly visit the library 1-4 times a week, they know about the library services in the school from the teachers and the most widely used service is the general collection service in braille format. The most frequent activities done by students are chatting and discussing, whereas browsing is rarely because there is no internet connection and the number of computers is limited. Information available in the library includes information for completing schoolwork and fiction books in the form of braille. The recommendations from research results include: improving information services through teacher librarians and provide information and internet literacy training for students and teachers.

Document management in an organization is very important because it is not only to facilitate the documents retrieval, but also to enhance the competitive power of the organization. For this purpose, Faculty of Vocational Studies Airlangga University applies electronic document management, called e-office. The e-office system is implemented to manage the existing administration system at Airlangga University, where users can create letters, make deliveries, receive letters, reply letters and make memos. This study aims to determine e-office utilization in the environment of the Faculty of Vocational Studies Airlangga University. Research method used is a descriptive quantitative approach. The target population in this research is Vocational Faculty Employee who has e-office account. The sampling technique used is a census technique or a full sample. The results show that not all e-office account owners have a habit of accessing e-office every day. The most done activity when accessing e-office are reading and printing mail. E-office users believe that using this system can be a solution to the problem of limited storage space and says it is easier to control than before e-office exist. The most accessed information using e-office is student information and the obstacle faced is lack of training for e-office users.
