No. of bitstreams: 1 Andres_Sebben_2021.pdf: 4775445 bytes, checksum: a30b2c72099487b55e49e890ccc679cc (MD5) Previous issue date: 2021-06-11 This work sought to add value to the diatomaceous earth (RTD) residue from the beer filtration stages, using it as a partial substitute for the fine natural aggregate, sand, in the production of conventional non-structural concrete. The methodology evaluated chemically and physically the RTD, as well as other concrete aggregates, followed by the production of concrete samples with four different replacement percentages: C-REF (0%), C-RTD2.5 (2.5%), C-RTF5 (5%), C-RTD10 (10%) of natural fine aggregate by RTD and subsequent analysis of results in its fresh and hardened state, regarding workability, resistance to axial and diametrical compression, modulus of elasticity, mass specific, water absorption and void ratio. The data from this work were evaluated by means of analysis of variance (ANOVA) of a single factor, with 5% significance, and the Tukey-Kramer test was applied to the differences between pairs of concrete mixtures. The results showed that it is possible to use the residue as a partial substitute for sand, however, because it has a high organic load, since it has not undergone any type of treatment, low pozzolanic reactivity and absorption capacity, microscopically justified by its irregular surface and high porosity, all mixtures containing substitutions showed statistically significant differences in relation to the reference mixture. However, analyzing the C-RTD2.5 and C-RTD5 mixtures alone, it is noted that the mechanical differences were not statistically significant, illustrating an acceptable behavior with a replacement limited to 7.5% by mass of the fine aggregate. This study highlights the possibility of using tailings, hitherto without perspective, in the production of concrete without a structural function, and can therefore alleviate the volume of sand extraction and reduce the environmental liability of the brewing industry, thus creating a point alternative point of view for solid waste management and mitigation in the exploitation of non-renewable natural reserves. Este trabalho procurou agregar valor o resíduo de terra de diatomácea (RTD) proveniente das etapas de filtração da cerveja, utilizando-o como substituto parcial do agregado miúdo natural, a areia, na produção de concreto convencional não estrutural. A metodologia avaliou química e fisicamente o RTD, bem como outros agregados do concreto, seguida da produção das amostras de concreto com quatro diferentes percentagens de substituição do agregado miúdo natural pelo RTD: C-REF (0%), C-RTD2,5 (2,5%), C-RTF5 (5%), C-RTD10 (10%) e posterior análise de resultados em seu estado fresco e endurecido, quanto à trabalhabilidade, à resistência à compressão axial e diametral, módulo de elasticidade, massa específica, absorção de água e índice de vazios. Os dados deste trabalho foram avaliados por meio da análise de variância (ANOVA) de fator único, com significância de 5%, e nas diferenças foi aplicado o teste de Tukey-Kramer entre os pares das misturas de concreto. Os resultados demonstraram que é possível utilizar o resíduo como substituto parcial da areia, entretanto, por possuir alta carga orgânica, uma vez que não sofreu qualquer tipo de tratamento, baixa reatividade pozolânica e alta capacidade de absorção de água, microscopicamente justificada pela sua superfície irregular e elevada porosidade, todas as misturas contendo substituições apresentaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas em relação a mistura referência. Todavia analisando isoladamente as misturas C-RTD2,5 e C-RTD5 nota-se que as diferenças mecânicas não foram estatisticamente significativas, ilustrando um comportamento aceitável com uma substituição limitada a 7,5% em massa do agregado miúdo. Este estudo evidencia a possibilidade do aproveitamento de um rejeito, até então sem perspectiva, na produção de concreto sem função estrutural, podendo aliviar, por consequência, o volume de extração de areia e reduzir o passivo ambiental da indústria cervejeira, criando-se assim, uma alternativa na gestão dos resíduos sólidos e mitigação na exploração das reservas naturais não renováveis.
