Supramolecular chemistry allows the construction of complex molecular architectures and the design of collective photophysical properties. DNA is an attractive template to build such supramolecular architectures due to its helical structure, the defined distances between the bases and the canonical base pairing that results in precise control of the chromophore position. The tailored properties of DNA-templated supramolecules eventually allow their implementation into optoelectronic applications. For the generation of free charge carriers from photo-generated excitons, fullerenes can be utilized. We synthesized two fullerene derivates, one of which binds by electrostatic interactions to single-stranded DNA, while the other contains two 2′-deoxyuridine moieties and assembles specifically along oligo-2′-deoxyadenosines (dA20) as DNA template. The DNA-directed assembly of both fullerenes in aqueous solution was investigated by UV/Vis absorbance and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. The specific interactions with DNA make fullerenes with the 2′-deoxyuridine moieties a significantly better component for supramolecular DNA architectures. We studied the fluorescence quenching of both fullerenes with a DNA chromophore assembly. To investigate one of the key properties for optoelectronic applications, that is the supramolecular structure of the DNA-based assemblies in the solid phase, we characterized the CD of supramolecular chromophore-DNA architectures in thin films. Remarkably, the helical chirality of the chromophore assemblies that is induced by the DNA template is conserved even in the solid state. Upon implementation into organic solar cells, the external quantum efficiency measurements showed charge carrier generation on all three chromophore components of the DNA assemblies. The fullerenes with the 2′-deoxyuridine moieties enhance the quantum efficiency of the conversion process significantly, demonstrating the potential of DNA as structural element for ordering chromophores into functional π-systems, which may be employed in future organic solar cells.

In this work solution‐processed organic white‐light emitting diodes comprising a blend of red and blue phosphorescent dendrimers are presented. In contrast to common small molecule blended‐dye organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), the bulky dendrons between the light emitting moieties increase the spacing and hamper the transfer of excitons between the dyes. The reduced transfer of the excitons from the blue dye to the red dye enables greater control over OLED color avoiding the issue in which small variations in the concentration of the red dye can dramatically change the emission color. Thus, the approach leads to enhanced manufacturing reproducibility. Transient electroluminescence measurements provide detailed insights into the charge carrier and exciton formation and transfer dynamics within the device.

After enhancing the power conversion efficiencies of organic solar cells beyond 10%, their long term stability has become the most urgent challenge in order to eventually integrate organic solar cells into end‐user products. Solar devices may have to endure harsh conditions already during their fabrication, typically requiring lamination temperatures up to 120 °C, critical for the initial performance of organic solar cells. In this work, polymer:fullerene bulk‐heterojunctions are fabricated with significantly enhanced thermal stability at 120 °C and beyond, by locking the bulk‐heterojunction morphology through incorporating the novel cross‐linkable bisazide 1,2‐bis((4‐(azidomethyl)phenethyl)thio)ethane (TBA‐X). Bulk‐heterojunctions comprising various light‐harvesting polymers and the industrially relevant fullerene acceptor PC61BM are investigated. Upon thermal annealing, the reference blends without the cross‐linking TBA‐X exhibit only moderate thermal stability and a relative loss of more than 70% of their initial performance, mainly originating from aggregation of the fullerene. In contrast, polymer:fullerene blends comprising TBA‐X retain up to 90% of their initial performance despite the harsh thermal annealing at 120 °C for up to 200 h.

The effective device photo current of organic tandem solar cells is independent of the angle of light incidence up to 65°. This feature renders these devices particularly suitable for stationary applications where they receive mainly indirect light. In a combined experimental and simulative study, we develop a fundamental understanding of the causal absorption and charge generation mechanisms in organic homo-tandem solar cells. A 3-terminal tandem device architecture is used to measure the optoelectronic properties of both subcells individually. The analysis of the angle dependent external quantum efficiencies of the subcells and the tandem device reveal an internal balancing of the wavelength dependent subcell currents elucidating the low sensitivity of the tandem device properties on the angle of incidence.

Auf Basis dieser Transportschichten werden vielfältige Bauelementarchitekturen wie Tandemsolarzellen, transparente Solarzellen und effiziente OLEDs diskutiert, hergestellt und charakterisiert.

In most future organic photovoltaic applications, such as fixed roof installations, facade or clothing integration, the solar cells will face the sun under varying angles. By a combined simulative and experimental study, we investigate the mutual interdependencies of the angle of light incidence, the absorber layer thickness and the photon harvesting efficiency within a typical organic photovoltaic device. For thin absorber layers, we find a steady decrease of the effective photocurrent towards increasing angles. For 90-140 nm thick absorber layers, however, we observe an effective photocurrent enhancement, exhibiting a maximum yield at angles of incidence of about 50°. Both effects mainly originate from the angle-dependent spatial broadening of the optical interference pattern inside the solar cell and a shift of the absorption maximum away from the metal electrode.

The power conversion efficiencies of organic solar cells delicately depend on the morphology of the light-harvesting bulk heterojunctions (BHJ). Upon deposition from solution, the formation of tailored bicontinuous networks of polymers and fullerenes is often achieved using combinations of solvents and solvent additives. Common wisdom infers that best solar cell performances are achieved when the solvent additives exhibit excellent fullerene solubility. Herein, this concept is revisited based on the investigation of a series of structurally similar, substituted benzaldehydes. It is concluded that the solvent additives do not only have to feature the commonly accepted good fullerene solubility, but must also exhibit lowest polymer solubility to suppress liquid���liquid demixing and hence achieve best solar cell performance. Thus, this study adds an important item to the list of selection criteria of solvent additives toward the production of polymer:fullerene solar cells with optimized power conversion efficiencies. The microscopic picture of the resulting domain configurations within the light-harvesting layers is developed around comprehensive multiscale investigations of the BHJ morphology, using atomic force microscopy, scanning transmission electron microscopy, and nano-infrared microscopy. The latter is operated in two complementary modes, one of which is more bulk sensitive, whereas the other mode is surface sensitive.

Improving the long-term stability of perovskite solar cells is critical to the deployment of this technology. Despite the great emphasis laid on stability-related investigations, publications lack consistency in experimental procedures and parameters reported. It is therefore challenging to reproduce and compare results and thereby develop a deep understanding of degradation mechanisms. Here, we report a consensus between researchers in the field on procedures for testing perovskite solar cell stability, which are based on the International Summit on Organic Photovoltaic Stability (ISOS) protocols. We propose additional procedures to account for properties specific to PSCs such as ion redistribution under electric fields, reversible degradation and to distinguish ambient-induced degradation from other stress factors. These protocols are not intended as a replacement of the existing qualification standards, but rather they aim to unify the stability assessment and to understand failure modes. Finally, we identify key procedural information which we suggest reporting in publications to improve reproducibility and enable large data set analysis.

Nonhalogenated ecofriendly solvents are an important asset to avoid costly safety precautions during the fabrication of organic solar cells by printing. Yet, in the past, the quest for suitable nontoxic solvents has widely used empirical approaches. Herein, a comprehensive solubility study is rolled out embracing Hansen solubility parameters (HSPs), tailoring of binary solvents and rational choices of solvent additives, identifying ecofriendly solvents or solvent combinations for the deposition of poly-benzodithophene-thienopyrroledione (PBDTTPD)/fullerene thin-film blends. A particular challenge is the low polymer solubility even in common halogenated solvents. Following the HSPs, initially, a list of suitable solvent candidates is identified which are tested toward their applicability in solar cell fabrication. Among the shortlisted solvents, significant differences between p-xylene and o-xylene are observed, which can be compensated using solvent additives. The ecofriendly green solvent eucalyptol in combination with benzaldehyde and p-anisaldehyde in a ternary solvent mixture gives rise to decent solar cell performances. Solar cells are produced with power conversion efficiencies matching those conventionally fabricated from state-of-the-art halogenated solvents comprising chlorobenzene and chloronaphthalene. Notably, the Hansen solubility approach provides an initial choice of solvents, but comes to its limits in predicting the best micromorphology formation, or if solvents react with the organic semiconductors.

Organic semiconductors find a wide range of applications, such as in organic light emitting diodes, organic solar cells, and organic field effect transistors. One of their most striking disadvantages in comparison to crystalline inorganic semiconductors is their low charge-carrier mobility, which manifests itself in major device constraints such as limited photoactive layer thicknesses. Trial-and-error attempts to increase charge-carrier mobility are impeded by the complex interplay of the molecular and electronic structure of the material with its morphology. Here, the viability of a multiscale simulation approach to rationally design materials with improved electron mobility is demonstrated. Starting from one of the most widely used electron conducting materials (Alq3), novel organic semiconductors with tailored electronic properties are designed for which an improvement of the electron mobility by three orders of magnitude is predicted and experimentally confirmed.

We demonstrate modular modifications of the widely employed emitter 2,4,5,6-tetra(9H-carbazol-9-yl)isophthalonitrile (4CzIPN) by replacing one or both nitrile acceptors with oxadiazole groups via a tetrazole intermediate. This allows the introduction of various functional groups including halides, alkynes, alkenes, nitriles, esters, ethers and a protected amino acid while preserving the thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) properties. The substituents control the emission maximum of the corresponding emitters, ranging between 472–527 nm, and show high solid-state photoluminescence quantum yields up to 85%. The TADF emission of two compounds, 4CzCNOXDtBu and 4CzdOXDtBu, a mono- and a bis-oxadiazole substituted 4CzIPN is characterized in detail by time- and temperaturedependent photoluminescence. Solution-processed OLEDs comprising 4CzCNOXDtBu and 4CzdOXDtBu show a significant blue-shift of the emission compared to the reference 4CzIPN, with external quantum efficiencies of 16%, 5.9% and 17% at 100 cdm⁻², respectively.

In den letzten Jahren hat das „Internet der Dinge“ (Englisch Internet of Things, abgekürzt IoT), das auch als Internet of Everything (Deutsch frei „Internet von Allem“) bezeichnet wird, mit dem Aufkommen der „Industrie 4.0“ einen Strom innovativer und intelligenter sensorgestützter Elektronik der neuen Generation in den Alltag gebracht. Dies erfordert auch die Herstellung einer riesigen Anzahl von elektronischen Bauteilen, einschließlich Sensoren, Aktoren und anderen Komponenten. Gleichzeitig ist die herkömmliche Elektronikfertigung zu einem hochkomplexen und investitionsintensiven Prozess geworden. In dem Maße, wie die Zahl der elektronischen Bauteile und die Nachfrage nach neuen, fortschrittlicheren elektronischen Bauteilen zunimmt, steigt auch die Notwendigkeit, effizientere und nachhaltigere Wege zur Herstellung dieser Bauteile zu finden. Die gedruckte Elektronik ist ein wachsender Markt, der diese Nachfrage befriedigen und die Zukunft der Herstellung von elektronischen Geräten neu gestalten könnte. Sie erlaubt eine einfache und kostengünstige Produktion und ermöglicht die Herstellung von Geräten auf Papier- oder Kunststoffsubstraten. Für die Herstellung gibt es dabei eine Vielzahl von Methoden. Techniken auf der Grundlage der Rastersondenlithografie waren dabei schon immer Teil der gedruckten Elektronik und haben zu Innovationen in diesem Bereich geführt. Obwohl die Technologie noch jung ist und der derzeitige Stand der gedruckten Elektronik im industriellen Maßstab, wie z. B. die Herstellung kompletter integrierter Schaltkreise, stark limitiert ist, sind die potenziellen Anwendungen enorm. Im Mittelpunkt der Entwicklung gedruckter elektronischer Schaltungen steht der Druck leitfähiger und anderer funktionaler Materialien. Die meisten der derzeit verfügbaren Arbeiten haben sich dabei auf die Verwendung von Tinten auf Nanopartikelbasis konzentriert. Die Herstellungsschritte auf der Grundlage von Tinten auf Nanopartikelbasis sind komplizierte Prozesse, da sie das Ausglühen (Englisch Annealing) und weitere Nachbearbeitungsschritte umfassen, um die gedruckten Muster leitfähig zu machen. Die Verwendung von Gallium-basierten, bei/nahe Raumtemperatur flüssigen Metallen und deren direktes Schreiben für vollständig gedruckte Elektronik ist immer noch ungewöhnlich, da die Kombination aus dem Vorhandensein einer Oxidschicht, hohen Oberflächenspannungen und Viskosität ihre Handhabung erschwert. Zu diesem Zweck zielt diese Arbeit darauf ab, Methoden zum Drucken von Materialien, einschließlich Flüssigmetallen, zu entwickeln, die mit den verfügbaren Druckmethoden nicht oder nur schwer gedruckt werden können und diese Methoden zur Herstellung vollständig gedruckter elektronischer Bauteile zu verwenden. Weiter werden Lösungen für Probleme während des Druckprozesses untersucht, wie z. B. die Haftung der Tinte auf dem Substrat und andere abscheidungsrelevante Aspekte. Es wird auch versucht, wissenschaftliche Fragen zur Stabilität von gedruckten elektronischen Bauelementen auf Flüssigmetallbasis zu beantworten. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde eine auf Glaskapillaren basierenden Direktschreibmethode für das Drucken von Flüssigmetallen, hier Galinstan, entwickelt. Die Methode wurde auf zwei unterschiedlichen Wegen implementiert: Einmal in einer „Hochleistungsversion“, basierend auf einem angepassten Nanolithographiegerät, aber ebenfalls in einer hochflexiblen, auf Mikromanipulatoren basierenden Version. Dieser Aufbau erlaubt einen on-the-fly („im Fluge“) kapillarbasierten Druck auf einer breiten Palette von Geometrien, wie am Beispiel von vertikalen, vertieften Oberflächen sowie gestapelten 3D-Gerüsten als schwer zugängliche Oberflächen gezeigt wird. Die Arbeit erkundet den potenziellen Einsatz dieser Methode für die Herstellung von vollständig gedruckten durch Flüssigmetall ermöglichten Bauteilen, einschließlich Widerständen, Mikroheizer, p-n-Dioden und Feldeffekttransistoren. Alle diese elektronischen Bauelemente werden ausführlich charakterisiert. Die hergestellten Mikroheizerstrukturen werden für temperaturgeschaltete Mikroventile eingesetzt, um den Flüssigkeitsstrom in einem Mikrokanal zu kontrollieren. Diese Demonstration und die einfache Herstellung zeigt, dass das Konzept auch auf andere Anwendungen, wie z.B. die bedarfsgerechte Herstellung von Mikroheizern für in-situ Rasterelektronenmikroskop-Experimente, ausgeweitet werden kann. Darüber hinaus zeigt diese Arbeit, wie PMMA-Verkapselung als effektive Barriere gegen Sauerstoff und Feuchtigkeit fungiert und zusätzlich als brauchbarer mechanischer Schutz der auf Flüssigmetall basierenden gedruckten elektronischen Bauteile wirken kann. Insgesamt zeigen der alleinstehende, integrierte Herstellungsablauf und die Funktionalität der Geräte, dass das Potenzial des Flüssigmetall-Drucks in der gedruckten Elektronik viel größer ist als einzig die Verwendung zur Verbindung konventioneller elektronischer Bauteile. Neben der Entwicklung von Druckverfahren und der Herstellung elektronischer Bauteile befasst sich die Arbeit auch mit der Korrosion und der zusätzlichen Legierung von konventionellen Metallelektroden in Kontakt mit Flüssigmetallen, welche die Stabilität der Bauteil beinträchtigen könnten. Zu diesem Zweck wurde eine korrelierte Materialinteraktionsstudie von gedruckten Galinstan- und Goldelektroden durchgeführt. Durch die kombinierte Anwendung von optischer Mikroskopie, vertikaler Rasterinterferometrie, Rasterelektronenmikroskopie, Röntgenphotonenspektroskopie und Rasterkraftmikroskopie konnte der Ausbreitungsprozess von Flüssigmetalllinien auf Goldfilmen eingehend charakterisiert werden. Diese Studie zeigt eine unterschiedliche Ausbreitung der verschiedenen Komponenten des Flüssigmetalls sowie die Bildung von intermetallischen Nanostrukturen auf der umgebenden Goldfilmoberfläche. Auf der Grundlage der erhaltenen zeitabhängigen, korrelierten Charakterisierungsergebnisse wird ein Modell für den Ausbreitungsprozess vorgeschlagen, das auf dem Eindringen des Flüssigmetalls in den Goldfilm basiert. Um eine ergänzende Perspektive auf die interne Nanostruktur zu erhalten, wurde die Röntgen-Nanotomographie eingesetzt, um die Verteilung von Gold, Galinstan und intermetallischen Phasen in einem in das Flüssigmetall getauchten Golddraht zu untersuchen. Schlussendlich werden Langzeitmessungen des Widerstands an Flüssigmetallleitungen, die Goldelektroden verbinden, durchgeführt, was dazu beiträgt, die Auswirkungen von Materialwechselwirkungen auf elektronische Anwendungen zu bewerten.

Gedruckte optoelektronische Bauteile versprechen eine kostengünstige Herstellung von Solarzellen, Displays, Transistoren, Sensoren und Laserdioden. Organik-Metallhalogenid- (OMH-) Perowskite eignen sich aufgrund ihrer hohen Absorption, langen Ladungsträgerlebensdauern und hohen Lichtverstärkungsfaktoren hervorragend für die Verwendung in einer Vielzahl solcher Bauelemente. Sie können in Form von gedruckten Dünnschichten als Solarzellen und Laserdioden auch auf mechanisch flexiblen Substraten Anwendung finden. Um aus den Dünnschichten die unterschiedlichen Bauteile zu formen sind materialspezifische Strukturierungsprozesse nötig. Deren Umsetzung mittels Laserstrahlung verspricht eine hohe Präzision, schnelle Anpassungen der Strukturierungsgeometrien und eine gute Integrierbarkeit in industrielle Druckprozesse. In dieser Arbeit werden daher hochpräzise Ultrakurzpuls- (UKP-) Laser für die Manipulation der OMH-Perowskitschichten aus Methylammoniumbleiiodid $(MAPbI_{3})$ und aus dem Mischperowskit $Cs_{0.10}(FA_{0.83}MA_{0.17})_{0.90}Pb_{0.84}(I_{0.84}Br_{0.16})_{2.68}$ eingesetzt. Zunächst wird ein Überblick über die nötigen Pulsenergien zur Oberflächenstrukturierung und zur vollständigen Abtragung der $MAPbI_{3}$-Schicht für Wellenlängen des sichtbaren Bereichs gegeben. Anschließend wird die Photolumineszenz (PL) des $MAPbI_{3}$ ausgenutzt, um einen in-situ Kontrollprozess für das vollständige Abtragen des $MAPbI_{3}$ ohne Beschädigung der darunterliegenden Schichten zu entwickeln. Über die Rot-Verschiebung des PL-Maximums sowie über den Anstieg der PL mit der verwendeten Pulsenergie des Lasers kann die optimale Pulsenergie für das vollständige Abtragen des $MAPbI_{3} $ermittelt werden. Mithilfe der Oberflächenstrukturierung werden erstmals Laserkavitäten direkt in die Schicht des Mischperowskits geschrieben. Dabei werden Interferenzen der Laserpulse an der Mischperowskitoberfläche ausgenutzt, um Gitter mit Perioden, die kleiner als die Laserwellenlänge sind, in die Mischperowskitschicht zu schreiben. Die Gitterperiode lässt sich über die Laserwellenlänge anpassen. Die Gitter bilden horizontale Kavitäten auf der Schicht, wodurch die Mischperowskitschicht nach optischer Anregung Laserstrahlung emittiert. Mit schwächeren Laserpulsen, die keine Oberflächenstrukturierungen bewirken, konnten die ferroelektrischen Domänen des $MAPbI_{3}$ in der Ausrichtung ihrer Polarisation beeinflusst werden. Die UKP-Strahlung führt zu einer schnellen Erwärmung in der Schicht, die zu Umorientierungen der Domänen führt. Anhand von Piezoantwort-Rasterkraftmikroskopiebildern werden Theorien entwickelt, die diese Umorientierungen erklären, und eine daraus resultierende mögliche Reduzierung der Verspannungen im Kristall wird diskutiert. Die in dieser Arbeit erforschten gezielten Manipulationen helfen, die für Solarmodule und Laserdioden nötigen Strukturierungsschritte in kontinuierlichen Herstellungsverfahren umzusetzen. Weiterhin können die entwickelten Strukturierungsprozesse in der Herstellung von Displays, Transistoren und Sensoren aus $MAPbI_{3}$ und ähnlichen Materialien Anwendung finden.

Ein wesentlicher Vorteil der organischen Elektronik und insbesondere der organischen Pho- tovoltaik liegt in ihrer Flüssigprozessierbarkeit. Dazu werden die organischen Halbleiter in Lösungsmitteln aufgelöst und über Druck- oder andere Beschichtungsverfahren auf Substrate abgeschieden. Die Verwendung solcher Hochdurchsatzverfahren verspricht eine günstige und schnelle Herstellung. Weil sich die meisten organischen Halbleiter aber nur in giftigen und umweltschädlichen Lösungsmitteln auflösen lassen, müssen die bei der Herstellung verdamp- fenden Lösungsmittel aufwendig aufgefangen werden, was dem Ziel der kostengünstigen Her- stellung entgegensteht. In vorherigen Arbeiten wurde gezeigt, dass sich organische Halbleiter auch in ungiftigen und umweltfreundlichen Lösungsmitteln wie Alkoholen oder Wasser in Form von Nanopartikeln dispergieren lassen. Diese Dispersionen können durch Fällung ohne den Einsatz von stabilisie- renden Tensiden hergestellt werden. Dadurch sind die Wirkungsgrade der aus den Dispersionen hergestellten Solarzellen mit den Wirkungsgraden der aus Lösung prozessierten Solarzellen ver- gleichbar. In dieser Arbeit wird gezeigt, dass der bisher in diesem Prozess verwendete organische Halblei- ter Poly(3-hexylthiophen-2,5-diyl) (P3HT) Nanopartikel bildet, die elektrostatisch stabilisiert sind. Durch die gleichnamige Ladung auf den Halbleiter-Nanopartikeln wird die Agglomerati- on wegen der elektrostatischen Abstoßung verhindert. Auf Grund dieser Erkenntnis wird daher untersucht, wie sich die Ladung auf den P3HT-Nanopartikeln erhöhen lässt, um die Stabilität der Nanopartikel zu verbessern. Es wird nachgewiesen, dass eine elektrische p-Dotierung durch Einbringen eines starken molekularen Elektronenakzeptors bereits in Lösung positive Ladungen auf dem Polymer erzeugt, die auch nach der Fällung auf den Polymer-Nanopartikeln erhalten bleiben. Dadurch kann eine größere Oberfläche stabilisiert werden, so dass das Wachstum der Nanopartikel während der Fällung durch Agglomeration unterdrückt wird und kleinere Nano- partikel entstehen. Dieses neue Konzept lässt sich auch auf andere organische Halbleiterdispersionen übertragen, die ohne Zusätze keine kolloidale Stabilisierung aufweisen. Auch hier führt die Dotierung der Polymer-Lösung vor der Fällung zur Aufladung der Nanopartikel und zur kolloidalen Stabi- lisation der Dispersionen. Dadurch wird die Auswahl der organischen Halbleiter für die Her- stellung nanopartikulärer Solarzellen auch auf moderne, hocheffiziente Materialkombinationen erweitert. Mit Iod wurde ein Dotand gefunden, der wegen seiner Flüchtigkeit die Solarzelle nach deren Schichtabscheidung wieder verlässt. Das ermöglicht die Herstellung von tensidfrei- en nanopartikulären Solarzellen mit einem Wirkungsgrad von bis zu 10,6%. Die Nanopartikel-Dispersionen eignen sich nicht nur zur Herstellung organischer Solarzellen, sondern werden in dieser Arbeit auch erstmals für organische Photodetektoren verwendet. Die nanopartikulären Photodioden erreichen ähnliche Kenngrößen wie ihre aus Lösung hergestell- ten Pendants. Die Verwendung von Ethanol als Dispersionsmedium erweitert jedoch die Aus- wahl der in der organischen Photodiode verwendbaren Transportschichten, so dass der für Pho- todioden entscheidende Dunkelstrom wesentlich reduziert wird.

Improving the long-term stability of perovskite solar cells is critical to the deployment of this technology. Despite the great emphasis laid on stability-related investigations, publications lack consistency in experimental procedures and parameters reported. It is therefore challenging to reproduce and compare results and thereby develop a deep understanding of degradation mechanisms. Here, we report a consensus between researchers in the field on procedures for testing perovskite solar cell stability, which are based on the International Summit on Organic Photovoltaic Stability (ISOS) protocols. We propose additional procedures to account for properties specific to PSCs such as ion redistribution under electric fields, reversible degradation and to distinguish ambient-induced degradation from other stress factors. These protocols are not intended as a replacement of the existing qualification standards, but rather they aim to unify the stability assessment and to understand failure modes. The photoactive layers of the most efficient organic solar cells comprise blends of at least two organic semiconductors (a donor and an acceptor) to form a bulk-heterojunction. For high-performance, the bulk-heterojunction film must have the donors and acceptors distributed at a distance of no more than the exciton diffusion length to yield efficient exciton splitting. In addition, the donor and acceptor domains must provide percolation pathways for efficient charge carrier transport to the electrodes. Today, state-of-the-art solution processing methods use environmentally Novel additives have been used to the stabilization of P3HT:ICBA nanoparticle dispersions. Said additives were not reducing the efficiency of organic solar cells built from the stabilized dispersions.
