The mechanical properties of the ultra-great workability concrete (UGWC) are deeply related to the weights of components, curing period and condition, and occasionally property of admixtures. This study aimed to appraise the usefulness of the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) technique for forecasting the compressive strength of UGWC and enhancing the accuracy of the literature. To outline the forecasting process, two improved ANFIS were suggested, in which determinative variables of them were determined by metaheuristic algorithms named imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) and multi-verse optimizer (MVO) algorithms. For this purpose, 170 data samples were collected from published literature separated accidentally for the train and test phase. The calculated performance criteria for proposed ANFIS models demonstrate that both ICA-ANFIS and MVO-ANFIS models can result in justifiable workability for fc of the UGWC prediction procedure. The MVO-ANFIS model could outperform ICA-ANFIS regarding all criteria. For instance, the value of R2 and VAF for the ICA-ANFIS model are roughly smaller than the MVO-ANFIS model, at 0.9012 and 90% in the training dataset and 0.8973 and 89% in the testing stage, respectively. While the best values of criteria have belonged to the MVO-ANFIS model, with R2 at 0.937 and 0.944 for the train and test phases, respectively. Overall, the hybrid MVO-ANFIS model can obtain higher workability than ICA-ANFIS and literature (R2 at 0.801), where causes are recognized as the proposed model.

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common vaginal disease associated with abnormal changes in the vaginal microbiome. Our previous study found that Lactobacillus rhamnosus has a good therapeutic effect on bacterial vaginosis by inhibiting the most prominent bacterium associated with BV, Gardnerella vaginalis. In this study, we show that acetic acid and lactic acid are the main substances in the cell-free supernatant (CFS) of L. rhamnosus that inhibit the growth of G. vaginalis. Further study on the mechanism showed that acetic acid and lactic acid alter the morphology of the G. vaginalis cells, eventually causing the cells to shrink or burst, resulting in exudation of their intracellular contents. In addition, these two organic acids also dissipate the membrane potential of bacterial cells, affecting their synthesis of ATP. A reduced activity of the Na+/K+-ATPase leads to abnormal ATP metabolism, and ultimately inhibits the growth and reproduction of G. vaginalis. Our study provides valuable information for the widespread application of L. rhamnosus in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis.

Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related mortality in the United States. Glutathione S-transferase can affect the development of cancer. Glutathione S-transferase omega 2, a member of the GST family, plays an important role in many tumors. However, the role of Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 in the development of colon cancer remains unclear. Herein, our study aimed to investigate the exact role of Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 in colon cancer. We used RNA sequencing data from The Cancer Genome Atlas and the Genotype-Tissue Expression database to analyze Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 expressions. Then, we explore the protein information of Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 in the Human Protein Atlas, GeneCards, and String database. In addition, western blot and immunohistochemistry were performed to evaluate the protein levels of Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 in colon cancer tissues. We acquire data from the Gene Expression Omnibus and The Cancer Genome Atlas databases. Also, we performed relevant prognostic analyses of these data. In addition, we performed a statistical analysis of the clinical data from The Cancer Genome Atlas database and the expression level of Glutathione S-transferase omega 2. Then, we performed Cox regression analysis and found independent risk factors for prognosis in patients with colon cancer. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes and Gene Ontology enrichment analyses were used to explore the potential biological functions of Glutathione S-transferase omega 2. The infiltration of colon cancer-immune cells was evaluated by the CIBERSORT method. RNA silencing was performed using siRNA constructs in HCT-116 and HT-29 cell lines. Cell Counting Kit-8 and EdU assays were performed to determine cell proliferation. Transwell experiments and scratch tests were used to determine cell migration. As for the mRNA and protein expression levels of cells, we used quantitative real-time PCR and western blot to detect them. Our research shows that Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 is overexpressed in colon cancer patients, and this overexpression is associated with a poor prognosis. The high expression of Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 is significantly correlated stage with stage, M, and N classification progression in colon cancer by statistical analysis. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses showed that Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 was an independent risk factor for poor prognosis in colon cancer. In addition, we also found that Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 expression levels can affect the immune microenvironment of colon cancer cells. Gene silencing of Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 in HT-29 and HCT-116 cells significantly inhibited tumor growth and migration. In summary, we found that Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 can be used as a molecular indicator of colon cancer prognosis. In vitro, gene silencing of Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 inhibited colon cancer cells’ growth and migration.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death and often diagnosed at an advanced stage because of its speedy growth and early tendency to spread to other organs and tissues The objective of this study focuses on exploring the role of the HJURP/YAP1/NDRG1 transcriptional regulation axis in NSCLC. We observed significantly increased upregulation of HJURP expression levels in NSCLC tissues. Loss of function experiments identified that HJURP promotes NSCLC cells proliferation and decreases chemo-sensitivity. HJURP could affect the level of ubiquitination modification of YAP1 protein and then regulate its downstream transcriptional activity. Mechanistically, we found that YAP1 positively regulates NDRG1 transcription by binding the promoter region of the NDRG1 gene, and HJURP/YAP1/NDRG1 axis could affect chemotherapy sensitivity in NSCLC. Taken together, these findings provide insights into the HJURP as a tumor promoter in NSCLC via the activation of YAP1/NDRG1 axis, indicating HJURP may be a promising therapeutic target for NSCLC.

Digital tourism is an essential product of the digital economy, which is significant in promoting sustainable tourism. The study aims to analyze the current research status of digital tourism with the CiteSpace tool. One thousand thirteen documents related to digital tourism, AI tourism, and tourism digitization in the Web of Science (WOS) database from 1991–2022 were collected. This study conducts bibliometric analysis to portray the knowledge map. Furthermore, this paper explores the publication years, co-occurrence of authors, institutions, subjects, research hotspots, and evolution of digital tourism research. The analysis findings revealed that social and environmental sciences are the core disciplines in digital tourism research. Hong Kong Polytechnic University is the foremost institution, and Tussyadiah and Wirtz are the authors with the highest contribution rate. Moreover, the results emphasized the frontier studies of digital tourism referring to technology, consumption, tourists’ reviews, and the progress of the tourism industry. In addition, China, Europe, and the United States should strengthen their digital tourism cooperation with Africa and the South America to promote the sustainable development of global tourism. Finally, the results implicate the future development trends of digital tourism. What are the potential clinical benefits of embryo culture and assessment in a time-lapse incubator compared with a standard incubator using static assessment?This large multicentre, single-blinded, randomized controlled study included 1224 participants randomly assigned (1:1) to the time-lapse or standard incubator group. In all patients one or two embryos were transferred on day 3. The primary outcome was the implantation rate in the first embryo transfer cycle. Secondary outcomes included the cumulative implantation rate, live birth rate in the first embryo transfer cycle and cumulative live birth rate.Among 1224 participants recruited, 1182 underwent embryo transfer. The number of successfully implanted embryos in the first transfer cycle was significantly higher in the time-lapse incubator group (time-lapse group: 52.35%, standard incubator group: 47.11%, P = 0.014). The implantation rate in the first embryo transfer cycle was still significantly higher in the time-lapse group than the standard incubator group after adjusting for age, body mass index, medical centre and embryo status (relative risk 1.11, 95% confidence interval 1.02-1.20, P = 0.020). However, the cumulative implantation rate, live birth rate in the first embryo transfer cycle and cumulative live birth rate were not statistically different between the groups.The implantation rate in the first embryo transfer cycle was significantly improved in the time-lapse group, but the effect of the time-lapse system on the cumulative implantation rate or cumulative live birth rate was not significant. The embryo assessment method offered by time-lapse systems rather than an undisturbed environment may play an important role in improving the implantation rate in the first embryo transfer cycle. These results are only applicable to young patients.

In recent years, numerous neurosurgical multimodal techniques have been utilized to maximize tumor resection safely and effectively. However, the synergetic effects of neurosurgical multimodalities on the survival of glioblastoma patients remain unclear. This study evaluated the role of intraoperative utilization of multimodalities in glioblastoma patients.Data of 912 adult patients with glioblastoma were obtained from the Huashan Glioma Registry. The utilization of fewer than 2 (multimodality value 2) intraoperative multimodal techniques was defined as the nonmultimodal group. In contrast, the utilization of 2 or more (multimodality value ≥ 2) intraoperative multimodal techniques was regarded as the multimodal group. The prognosis of the 2 cohorts was compared and further stratified based on the diagnosis date (2010-2014 or 2015-2019) to reveal the role of the application of multimodal techniques.The median overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival of glioblastoma patients were 17.70 months and 12.03 months, respectively. The OS time of the multimodal group was noticeably longer than that of the nonmultimodal group (21.0 months vs. 16.0 months, P 0.001). Multimodal techniques were more frequently applied in surgery in the 2015-2019 group than in the 2010-2014 group. The popularity of multimodal techniques contributed to significant improvement in the prognosis of glioblastoma patients from 2010-2014 to 2015-2019 (OS, 16.0 months vs. 22.0 months, P 0.001).This study indicated that the utilization of intraoperative multimodal techniques improved the extent of resection and elevated the survival for adult glioblastoma patients.

The materials prevalent in the English vocabulary market today are “one-size-fits-all,” presenting the same vocabulary resources to all learners without taking into account the differences in learning styles, learning preferences, and original cognitive structures of different learners.

Public transport, especially bus and metro, are fundamental elements of sustainable transport systems. However, a dearth of research has been devoted to exploring the correlation between the built environment and the intermodal transfer modes that link bus and metro. To address this research gap, this study aims to explore the relationship between the built environment and transfer ridership by examining transfer ridership across different modes. First, this study uses Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) data collected in the city of Chengdu to identify the ridership of Metro-to-Bus (M-B) and Bus-to-Metro (B-M) transfer passengers using dynamic transfer time thresholds. A multi-scale geographically weighted regression model (MGWR) is employed to examine the impact of the built environment on M-B and B-M transfer modes and their scale effects. The findings demonstrate that the MGWR model is effective in capturing the spatial heterogeneity and scale effects of the interrelationships between different built environment factors in the M-B and B-M modes. Furthermore, the impact of different built environment factors on transfer ridership varies. In particular, the number of bus stops and lines have a more pronounced positive effect on promoting transfer ridership, while the density of non-motorway lanes has a significant negative effect. This research provides valuable insights for public transportation management and supports the seamless integration of bus and metro systems to optimize transfer services.

Background Female infertility is a major problem for women of reproductive-age worldwide. Oxidative stress and inflammation are involved in processes related to female infertility. Serum uric acid levels, an indicator of oxidative stress and inflammation, have rarely been reported to be associated with female infertility. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between serum uric acid levels and female infertility. Methods This cross-sectional study included women aged 18–44 years from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) between 2013 and 2018. All data were extracted from NHANES questionnaires and laboratory measurements. Weighted univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were utilized to explore the relationship between serum uric acid and female infertility. Stratified analyses were performed based on body mass index (BMI, 2 and ≥ 25 kg/m2) and age (≤ 30 years and > 30 years). The odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was used to report associations. Results A total of 2,884 women were included, of which 352 (13.30%) had infertility. Women with high serum uric acid concentrations were related to higher odds of infertility (OR = 1.20, 95%CI: 1.03–1.39) after adjusting for confounders. Compared with serum uric acid concentrations ≤ 3.72 mg/dL, women with uric acid concentrations of 4.43–5.13 mg/dL (OR = 1.65, 95%CI: 1.02–2.67) and > 5.13 mg/dL (OR = 1.86, 95%CI: 1.10–3.13) were related to higher odds of infertility. Stratified analyses showed that high serum uric acid concentrations were associated with higher odds of infertility in women with a BMI 2 (OR = 1.41, 95%CI: 1.04–1.93), but not in women with a BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2 (P = 0.056). In addition, high serum uric acid concentrations were associated with higher odds of infertility in women aged > 30 years (OR = 1.23, 95%CI: 1.04–1.45), but not in women aged ≤ 30 years (P = 0.556). Conclusion Women with high serum uric acid concentrations were associated with higher odds of infertility, and this association may vary by BMI and age.

Antiferromagnets with non-collinear spin structures display various properties that make them attractive for spintronic devices. Some of the most interesting examples are an anomalous Hall effect despite negligible magnetization and a spin Hall effect with unusual spin polarization directions. However, these effects can only be observed when the sample is set predominantly into a single antiferromagnetic domain state. This can only be achieved when the compensated spin structure is perturbed and displays weak moments due to spin canting that allows for external domain control. In thin films of cubic non-collinear antiferromagnets, this imbalance is previously assumed to require tetragonal distortions induced by substrate strain. Here, it is shown that in Mn3SnN and Mn3GaN, spin canting is due to structural symmetry lowering induced by large displacements of the magnetic manganese atoms away from high-symmetry positions. These displacements remain hidden in X-ray diffraction when only probing the lattice metric and require measurement of a large set of scattering vectors to resolve the local atomic positions. In Mn3SnN, the induced net moments enable the observation of the anomalous Hall effect with an unusual temperature dependence, which is conjectured to result from a bulk-like temperature-dependent coherent spin rotation within the kagome plane.

Lead halide perovskites are new key materials in various application areas such as high efficiency photovoltaics, lighting, and photodetectors. Doping with Mn, which is known to enhance the stability, has recently been reported to lead to ferromagnetism below 25 K in methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) mediated by superexchange. Two most recent reports confirm ferromagnetism up to room temperature but mediated by double exchange between Mn2+ and Mn3+ ions. Here we investigate a wide concentration range of MAMnxPb1−xI3 and Mn-doped triple-cation thin films by soft X-ray absorption, X-ray magnetic circular dichroism, and quantum interference device magnetometry. The X-ray absorption lineshape shows clearly an almost pure Mn2+ configuration, confirmed by a sum-rule analysis of the dichroism spectra. A remanent magnetization is not observed down to 2 K. Curie-Weiss fits to the magnetization yield negative Curie temperatures. All data show consistently that significant double exchange and ferromagnetism do not occur. Our results show that Mn is not suitable for creating ferromagnetism in lead halide perovskites.

Background and ObjectivesPatients with primary malignant brain tumors may experience mental health disturbances that can significantly affect their daily life. This study aims to identify risk factors and generate predictive models for postoperative mental health disturbances (PMHDs) in adult glioma patients in accordance with different clinical periods; additionally, survival analyses will be performed.MethodsThis longitudinal cohort study included 2,243 adult patients (age at diagnosis ≥ 18 years) with nonrecurrent glioma who were pathologically diagnosed and had undergone initial surgical resection. Six indicators of distress, sadness, fear, irritability, mood and enjoyment of life, ranging from 0-10, were selected to assess PMHDs in glioma patients in the third month after surgery, mainly referring to the M.D. Anderson Symptom Inventory Brain Tumor Module (MDASI-BT). Factor analysis (FA) was applied on these indicators to divide participants into PMHD and control groups based on composite factor scores. Survival analyses were performed, and separate logistic regression models were formulated for preoperative and postoperative factors predicting PMHDs.ResultsA total of 2,243 adult glioma patients were included in this study. Based on factor analysis results, 300 glioma patients had PMHDs in the third postoperative month, and the remaining 1,943 were controls. Candidate predictors for PMHDs in the preoperative model were associated with age, clinical symptoms (intracranial space-occupying lesion, muscle weakness and memory deterioration), and tumor location (corpus callosum, basal ganglia and brainstem), whereas age, clinical symptoms (nausea and memory deterioration), tumor location (basal ganglia and brainstem), hospitalization days, WHO grade 4, postoperative chemotherapy or radiotherapy and postoperative Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS) served as important factors in the postoperative model. In addition, the median overall survival (OS) time for glioma patients with PMHDs was 19 months, compared to 13 months for glioblastoma, IDH-wild type (GBM) patients with PMHDs.ConclusionThe risk factors for PMHDs were identified. These findings may provide new insights into predicting the probability of PMHD occurrence in glioma patients in addition to aiding effective early intervention and improving prognosis based on different clinical stages.

Grain chalkiness is the main factor determining the market value of rice. Reducing chalkiness is an important breeding goal for genetic improvement of high quality rice. Identification of QTLs or genes controlling chalkiness is the prerequisite for molecular breeding in rice. Here, we conducted a genome-wide association study to identify QTLs associated with grain chalkiness including percentage of grains with chalkiness (PGWC) and degree of endosperm chalkiness (DEC) in 450 rice accessions consisting of 300 indica and 150 japonica rice in two environments. A total of 34 QTLs were identified, including 14 QTLs for PGWC and 20 QTLs for DEC. Among them, seven QTLs were commonly identified in two environments, and eight QTLs were simultaneously related to two traits. Based on the haplotype analysis, LD decay analysis, RNA-sequencing, qRT-PCR confirmation and haplotype comparisons, four genes (LOC_Os10g36170, LOC_Os10g36260, LOC_Os10g36340 and LOC_Os10g36610) were considered as the candidate genes for qDEC-10c1w,2wj, which could be identified in both environments and had the most significant p-value among the newly identified QTLs. These results provided new insight into the genetic basis of grain chalkiness and gene resources for improving quality by molecular breeding in rice.

When it comes to the prevention of clinical signs and mortality associated with infection of the Newcastle disease virus (NDV), vaccination has been very effective. However, recent evidence has proven that more highly virulent strains are emerging that bypass existing immune protection and pose a serious threat to the global poultry industry. Here, a novel rescued adenovirus 5-coexpressed chicken granulocyte monocyte colony-stimulating factor (ChGM-CSF) bio-adjuvant and C22-hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) boosted chickens' immunological genetic resistance and thus improved the immunological effectiveness of the critical new-generation vaccine in vitro and in vivo. Accordingly, the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) titers (log2) of the recombinant adenovirus (rAdv)-ChGM-CSF-HN-immunized chickens had greater, more persistent, and longer-lasting NDV-specific antibodies than the La Sota and rAdv-HN-inoculated birds. Moreover, humoral and adaptive immunological conditions were shown to be in harmony after rAdv-ChGM-CSF-HN inoculation and uniformly enhanced the expression of alpha interferon (IFN-α), IFN-β, IFN-γ, interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-2, IL-16, IL-18, and IL-22. Postchallenge, the control challenge (CC), wild-type adenovirus (wtAdv), and rAdv-ChGM-CSF groups developed unique NDV clinical manifestations, significant viral shedding, high tissue viral loads, gross and microscopic lesions, and 100% mortality within 7 days. The La Sota, rAdv-HN, and rAdv-ChGM-CSF-HN groups were healthy and had 100% survival rates. The rAdv-ChGM-CSF-HN group swiftly regulated and stopped viral shedding and had lower tissue viral loads than all groups at 5 days postchallenge (dpc). Thus, the antiviral activity of ChGM-CSF offered robust immune protection in the face of challenge and reduced viral replication convincingly. Our advance innovation concepts, combining ChGM-CSF with a field-circulating strain epitope, could lead to the development of a safe, genotype-matched, universal transgenic vaccine that could eradicate the disease globally, reducing poverty and food insecurity. IMPORTANCE We studied the biological characterization of the developed functional synthetic recombinant adenoviruses, which showed a high degree of safety, thermostability, and genetic stability for up to 20 passages. It was demonstrated through both in vitro and in vivo testing that the immunogenicity of the proposed vaccine, which uses the T2A peptide from the Thosea asigna virus capsid protein supported by glycine and serine, helps with efficiency to generate a multicistronic vector, enables expression of two functional proteins in rAdv-ChGM-CSF-HN, and is superior to that of comparable vaccines. Additionally, adenovirus can be used to produce vaccines matching the virulent field-circulating strain epitope. Because there is no preexisting human adenoviral immunity detected in animals, the potency of adenoviral vaccines looks promising. Also, it ensures that the living vector does not carry the resistance gene that codes for the kanamycin antibiotic. Accordingly, a human recombinant adenoviral vaccine that has undergone biological improvements is beneficial and important.

Objective: As the world's food safety and environmental safety problems become increasingly severe, the agricultural sectors of various countries are also paying closer attention to the use of biofertilizers and biocontrol agents. Rhizosphere bacteria are a significant source of commonly used biofertilizers and biocontrol agents. This study aims to describe the genome and genomic traits of a biocontrol agent in the genus Bacillus.Results: In this paper, a strain of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens IBFCBF-5 was isolated and identified to have an inhibitory effect on several common oomycete and fungal pathogens Phytophthora capsica, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, and Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cucumerinum. The genome of strain IBFCB-5 was sequenced, and the assembled genome was 4,338,658bp, with a G+C content of 46.05%. The IBFCBF-5 genome contains abundant GH, GT, CE, PL, AA, and CBM gene families, potentially degrading cellulose and hemicellulose, chitin, starch, xylan, peptidoglycan, etc. In addition, 14 lipopeptide and polypeptide antibiotic gene clusters were found in IBFCBF-5, including those coding for the synthesis of several known antifungal and antibacterial compounds Fengycin, Bacilysin, Bacillibactin, and plantazolicin.Conclusion: Our results show that Bacillus amyloliquefaciens IBFCBF-5 has a broad-spectrum antifungal ability and that its genome contains many genes coding for antimicrobial metabolites.

Spodoptera litura is a damaging and notorious insect pest of agricultural crops that has developed resistance to various insecticides. Broflanilide is a novel pesticide with a unique mode of action that displays high efficiency against lepidopterous larvae. We here determined the baseline susceptibility of a laboratory strain of S. litura to broflanilide and 10 other popular insecticides. Furthermore, we measured susceptibility and cross-resistance using three common insecticides in 11 field-collected S. litura populations. Broflanilide caused the highest toxicity among all tested insecticides, with the laboratory strain and all field-collected populations showing high susceptibility. Moreover, no cross-resistance was detected between broflanilide and the other tested insecticides. We subsequently evaluated the sublethal effects of broflanilide and found that treatment with the 25% lethal concentration (LC25) prolonged the development duration in the larvae, reduced the pupation rate and pupae weight, and decreased egg hatchability. Finally, the activities of three detoxifying enzymes were measured in S. litura after treatment with the LC25 dose. The results suggested that enhanced cytochrome P450 monooxygenase (P450) activity could be involved in broflanilide detoxification. Overall, these findings demonstrate the strong toxicity and significant sublethal effects of broflanilide in S. litura and suggest that increased P450 activity may be associated with broflanilide detoxification.

BackgroundThe genetic causes for most male infertility due to severe oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OAT) remain unclear.ObjectiveTo identify the genetic cause of male infertility characterised by OAT.MethodsVariant screening was performed by whole-exome sequencing from 325 infertile patients with OAT and 392 fertile individuals. In silico and in vitro analyses were performed to evaluate the impacts of candidate disease-causing variants. A knockout mouse model was generated to confirm the candidate disease-causing gene, and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) was used to evaluate the efficiency of clinical treatment.ResultsWe identified biallelicCFAP61variants (NM_015585.4: c.1654C>T (p.R552C) and c.2911G>A (p.D971N), c.144–2A>G and c.1666G>A (p.G556R)) in two (0.62%) of the 325 OAT-affected men. In silico bioinformatics analysis predicted that all four variants were deleterious, and in vitro functional analysis confirmed the deleterious effects of the mutants. Notably, H&E staining and electron microscopy analyses of the spermatozoa revealed multiple morphological abnormalities of sperm flagella, the absence of central pair microtubules and mitochondrial sheath malformation in sperm flagella from man withCFAP61variants. Further immunofluorescence assays revealed markedly reduced CFAP61 staining in the sperm flagella. In addition,Cfap61-deficient mice showed the OAT phenotype, suggesting that loss of function ofCFAP61was the cause of OAT. Two individuals accepted ICSI therapy using their own ejaculated sperm, and one of them succeeded in fathering a healthy baby.ConclusionsOur findings indicate that CFAP61 is essential for spermatogenesis and that biallelicCFAP61variants lead to male infertility in humans and mice with OAT.

The investigation of two-dimensional (2D) materials has advanced into practical device applications, such as cascaded logic stages. However, incompatible electrical properties and inappropriate logic levels remain enormous challenges. In this work, a doping-free strategy is investigated by top gated (TG) MoS2 field-effect transistors (FETs) using various metal gates (Au, Cu, Ag, and Al). These metals with different work functions provide a convenient tuning knob for controlling threshold voltage (Vth) for MoS2 FETs. For instance, the Al electrode can create an extra electron doping (n-doping) behavior in the MoS2 TG-FETs due to a dipole effect at the gate-dielectric interface. In this work, by achieving matched electrical properties for the load transistor and the driver transistor in an inverter circuit, we successfully demonstrate wafer-scale MoS2 inverter arrays with an optimized inverter switching threshold voltage (VM) of 1.5 V and a DC voltage gain of 27 at a supply voltage (VDD) of 3 V. This work offers a novel scheme for the fabrication of fully integrated multistage logic circuits based on wafer-scale MoS2 film.

In situ transmission electron microscopy is used to analyze the phase transition of Ag2Se nanoparticles with different size. The result provides a potential design toward a low-temperature range of thermoelectric materials through nanoengineering.

Bemisia tabaci is a threat to agriculture worldwide because of its potential to cause devastating damage to crops. Chlorogenic acid is a bioactive pesticidal phytochemical agent against various insect pests. We here determined the susceptibility of a laboratory strain of B. tabaci to chlorogenic acid and other popular insecticides, and the susceptibility of several field-collected populations to chlorogenic acid. Also, cross-resistance to four common insecticides was measured. Chlorogenic acid had the highest toxicity of all tested insecticides, and all the field-collected populations were susceptible to chlorogenic acid, and little cross-resistance was detected between chlorogenic acid and the other tested insecticides. Furthermore, analysis of enzyme activities and expression of P450 genes in B. tabaci after treatment with LC50 of chlorogenic acid suggested that enhanced P450 activity could be involved in chlorogenic acid detoxification. We subsequently evaluated sublethal effects of chlorogenic acid, and found that treatment with LC25 of chlorogenic acid prolonged duration of two developmental stages, reduced fecundity, and decreased survival rates of treated B. tabaci compared to untreated insects. Overall, these findings demonstrate strong toxicity and significant sublethal effects of chlorogenic acid on B. tabaci, and suggest that overexpression of P450 genes may be associated with chlorogenic acid detoxification.

The burgeoning eHealth campaigns and the emerging daughter-to-mother health communication necessitate a close examination of the intricate mechanism behind recommending preventive behaviors in online settings. The present study addresses existing gaps by investigating how message characteristics and platform-generated virality cues jointly influence younger females’ intention to recommend breast cancer screening to their mothers. Drawing on the extended parallel process model (EPPM) as the theoretical basis, a 2 (threat: low vs. high) × 2 (efficacy: low vs. high) × 2 (virality: low vs. high) randomized between-subjects experiment (n = 269) was performed. Results revealed a three-way interaction effect between threat, efficacy, and virality on message involvement. Message involvement was positively associated with recommendation intention and mediated the three-way interaction effect on recommendation intention. This study demonstrates that a high threat can initiate message involvement but fail to trigger recommendation intention. In contrast, a low-threat, high-efficacy, high-virality combination would yield a salutary outcome. Besides, the indispensable role of message involvement in the underlying psychological mechanism behind recommending preventive behaviors was reaffirmed. Theoretical and practical implications are further discussed.
