This paper discusses various management options and interactions as they apply to both high productivity and subsistence cropping of lentils. These include: nutrient management involving chemical, organic and biological sources (macronutrients, micronutrients, organic sources, chemical fertilizers and crop resiudes); and the management of toxic elements in lentil (in consideration with pH management and pH interactions, soil acidity, salinity and alkalinity, and toxicities). Also discussed are the different strategies for optimizing nutrient use efficiency in lentil, economics of nutrient management in lentil, and the economics of application of nutrients and biofertilizers.
