BackgroundIt has been demonstrated that a thin endometrium is associated with a lower chance of pregnancy, but there is a paucity of research into whether a thin endometrium adversely affects perinatal outcomes.MethodsThis was a retrospective cohort study on 10098 frozen cycles with single blastocyst transfer, resulting in 5505 singleton clinical pregnancies, and 4314 singleton live births. Patients were divided into a thin endometrium group (ResultsThe incidences of preterm birth (15.65 vs. 9.80%, aOR=1.69 [1.19-2.42]), low birth weight (8.40 vs. 4.10%, aOR=2.05 [1.27-3.30]) and gestational diabetes (6.87 vs. 4.17%, aOR=1.74 [1.05-2.90]) were all higher in the endometrial thickness (EMT) ConclusionA thin endometrium may be associated with a higher incidence of preterm birth, low birth weight, and miscarriage. Therefore, embryo transfer should be performed with caution in these patients, and postponing to a later cycle with a thicker endometrium should be considered.

We are conducting a study to investigate the replicability of cancer biology studies. Selected results from a substantial number of high-profile papers in the field of cancer biology published between 2010-2012 are being replicated by the Science Exchange network.

Cochlear nerve deficiency (CND) is often associated with variable outcomes of cochlear implantation (CI). We assessed previous investigations aiming to identify the main factors that determine CI outcomes, which would enable us to develop predictive models. Seventy patients with CND and normal cochlea who underwent CI surgery were retrospectively examined. First, using a data-driven approach, we collected demographic information, radiographic measurements, audiological findings, and audition and speech assessments. Next, CI outcomes were evaluated based on the scores obtained after 2 years of CI from the Categories of Auditory Performance index, Speech Intelligibility Rating, Infant/Toddler Meaningful Auditory Integration Scale or Meaningful Auditory Integration Scale, and Meaningful Use of Speech Scale. Then, we measured and averaged the audiological and radiographic characteristics of the patients to form feature vectors, adopting a multivariate feature selection method, called stability selection, to select the features that were consistent within a certain range of model parameters. Stability selection analysis identified two out of six characteristics, namely the vestibulocochlear nerve (VCN) area and the number of nerve bundles, which played an important role in predicting the hearing and speech rehabilitation results of CND patients. Finally, we used a parameter-optimized support vector machine (SVM) as a classifier to study the postoperative hearing and speech rehabilitation of the patients. For hearing rehabilitation, the accuracy rate was 71% for both the SVM classification and the area under the curve (AUC), whereas for speech rehabilitation, the accuracy rate for SVM classification and AUC was 93% and 94%, respectively. Our results identified that a greater number of nerve bundles and a larger VCN area were associated with better CI outcomes. The number of nerve bundles and VCN area can predict CI outcomes in patients with CND. These findings can help surgeons in selecting the side for CI and provide reasonable expectations for the outcomes of CI surgery.

A Li1.2Ni0.13Co0.13Mn0.54O2 cathode material is prepared by a kilogram-scale carbonate co-precipitation method assisted with nano-grinding. Uniform hierarchical structure with nano-scale building blocks and low mixing degree of lithium and nickel are achieved. The obtained Li1.2Ni0.13Co0.13Mn0.54O2 cathode material shows high initial Coulombic efficiency and capacity delivery, attractive cycling stability, and high rate performance. At 1 C and 25 °C, it presents a higher discharge capacity of 266.3 mAh g−1, and the capacity retention rates are 97.7% after 300 cycles and 92.8% after 500 cycles, respectively. Excellent high rate discharge capacities of 252.0 and 113.3 mAh g−1 are obtained at 1 and 30 C, respectively. In addition, outstanding temperature dependency discharge capacities are gained. The pouch-type full cell fabricated by this cathode and graphite anode exhibits good cycling performance with 85.5% capacity retention after 350 cycles at 5 mA.

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of the count and type of circulating tumor cell (CTC) and the expression of homeobox gene B7 (HOXB7) gene in the CTC in patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the data of 40 patients with newly diagnosed bone and soft tissue sarcomas from May, 2017 to July, 2019 at Chongqing University Cancer Hospital. After the diagnosis, all the patients were examined for peripheral blood CTC using the CanPatrolTM System, and the isolated CTC was characterized using a multiple messenger RNA in situ analysis (MRIA). The expression of HOXB7 gene in the CTC was detected using a RNA probe. The correlations of CTC counts, cell type and the expression level of HOXB7 gene with clinical stages and metastasis of bone and soft tissue sarcomas were analyzed. Results of the 40 patients with sarcoma, CTC including epithelial CTC, mesenchymal CTC (M-CTC), and biophenotypic epithelial/mesenchymal CTC were detected in 37 patients before treatment. The CTC counts correlated significantly with Enneking stages (P=0.002). The number of CTC and the ratio of mesenchymal CTC were significantly greater in stage Ⅲ patients than in stage Ⅱ patients (P=0.040 and 0.001, respectively). Positive expression of HOXB7 in the CTC was detected in 56.9% of the stage Ⅲ patients, a rate significantly higher than that in patients in other stages (P=0.003). Subgroup analysis of osteosarcoma showed that the positivity rate of HOXB7 in the CDC was significantly higher in stage Ⅲ patients than in stage Ⅱ patients (P=0.025). Conclusion In patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas, the counts and types of peripheral blood CTC and HOXB7 expression in the CDC are closely correlated with metastasis and clinical Enneking stages, and can serve as indicators for assessing tumor metastasis, therapeutic effect and prognosis of the patients.

The eco-design of upstream suppliers can reduce the environmental impact from the production process for downstream customers. To analyze the effect of suppliers’ eco-design on the economic benefits of up-downstream supply chain and the mechanisms, this study constructed a master–slave game theory model for a supplier and a manufacturer. Based on this game theory model, this study comparatively analyzes the effects on raw material/part prices, retail product prices, sale volume, revenue, and eco-design effort level under three conditions (no eco-design, decentralized decision-making with eco-design, centralized decision-making with eco-design). And to further analyze the effect of eco-design costs on the optimal solution, this article takes the supply chain of tire production as an example. This analysis could provide suggestions for the suppliers and manufacturers to develop and improve their eco-design. The main results are as follows: the supplier eco-design is beneficial to improving the overall economic benefits for suppliers and manufacturers under certain conditions, and the range in which a supplier is willing to implement eco-design in a decentralized decision-making situation is wider than that in a centralized decision-making situation; when a supplier implements an eco-design, it will transfer part of the cost to the manufacturer by raising the unit raw material/parts prices. Meanwhile, the manufacturer can reduce the production cost when the benefit of eco-design is more than the increased purchasing price, and they can decrease the retail price to expand the sales volume. Hence, consumers will benefit from lower prices. Thus, it is a multi-win situation among the suppliers, manufacturers, and consumers.

In March 2020, following the annual International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) ratification vote on newly proposed taxa, the phylum Negarnaviricota was amended and emended. At the genus rank, 20 new genera were added, two were deleted, one was moved, and three were renamed. At the species rank, 160 species were added, four were deleted, ten were moved and renamed, and 30 species were renamed. This article presents the updated taxonomy of Negarnaviricota as now accepted by the ICTV.

Here, a streptozotocin-induced DN C57BL/6 mouse model was used to investigate the effects of puerarin on the modulation of autophagy under conditions associated with endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). In addition, this study aimed to identify the potential underlying molecular mechanisms.Methods and Results: DN C57BL/6 mouse model was induced by streptozotocin (150 mg/kg) injection. The mice were administered rapamycin and puerarin, respectively, daily for up to 8 weeks. After the serum and kidney samples were collected, the fasting blood glucose (FBG), parameters of renal function, histomorphology, and the podocyte functional proteins were analyzed. Moreover, the autophagy markers and the expressions of PERK/ATF4 pathway were studied in kidney. Results found that the FBG level in DN mice was significantly higher than in normal mice. Compared with DN model mice, puerarin-treated mice showed an increased expression of podocyte functional proteins, including nephrin, podocin, and podocalyxin. Furthermore, the pathology and structure alterations were improved by treatment with rapamycin and puerarin compared with the DN control. The results indicated an elevated level of autophagy in rapamycin and puerarin groups compared with the DN model, as demonstrated by the upregulated expression of autophagy markers Beclin-1, LC3II, and Atg5, and downregulated p62 expression. In addition, the levels of PERK, eIF2α, and ATF4 were reduced in the DN model, which was partially, but significantly, prevented by rapamycin and puerarin.Conclusion: This study emphasizes the renal-protective effects of puerarin in DN mice, particularly in the modulation of autophagy under ERS conditions, which may be associated with activation of the PERK/eIF2α/ATF4 signaling pathway. Pretreatment inflammatory indexes including neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) are associated with poor outcomes in various malignant tumors, but their prognostic value in patients with osteosarcoma is poorly known. This was a retrospective study of patients with osteosarcoma treated between 01/2010 and 12/2013 at Chongqing University Cancer Hospital. Follow-up was calculated from the date of initial histological diagnosis to December 2018 or death or loss of follow-up. However, the systematic analysis of its mechanism has not been carried out yet and further studies are needed to reveal the role of SZC.Methods: A systematic network pharmacology analysis was conducted by integrating construction of SZC compound database and AM target database, prediction of potential active compounds and targets by molecular docking combined with compound-target prediction graph (CTPG), protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis, Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis. Then, the anti–inflammation experiments in vitro were performed by investigating SZC and the representative compounds regulating nitric oxide (NO), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-10 (IL-10).Results: Our findings show that SZC mainly treated AM by stimulating 28 core targets through 30 key potential active compounds, and affecting 4 crucial pathways. The treatment was associated with inflammation reaction, hormone regulation, cell adhesion, proliferation, and angiogenesis. Additionally, SZC achieved the anti–inflammatory activity by the cooperation of the compounds through inhibiting NO and IL-6, both promoting and inhibiting IL-10.Conclusion: This study investigated the anti–inflammatory activity of SZC based on a systematic analysis of SZC remedying AM, which was revealed to be one of the essential mechanisms. Ubiquitous systems with End-Edge-Cloud architecture are increasingly being used in healthcare applications. Federated Learning (FL) is highly useful for such applications, due to silo effect and privacy preserving. Existing FL approaches generally do not account for disparities in the quality of local data labels. However, the clients in ubiquitous systems tend to suffer from label noise due to varying skill-levels, biases or malicious tampering of the annotators. In this paper, we propose Federated Opportunistic Computing for Ubiquitous Systems (FOCUS) to address this challenge. It maintains a small set of benchmark samples on the FL server and quantifies the credibility of the client local data without directly observing them by computing the mutual cross-entropy between performance of the FL model on the local datasets and that of the client local FL model on the benchmark dataset. Then, a credit weighted orchestration is performed to adjust the weight assigned to clients in the FL model based on their credibility values. FOCUS has been experimentally evaluated on both synthetic data and real-world data. The battery analytical model often plays an important role in accurately estimating the online state-of-charge of the battery. The improved gas-liquid dynamics battery model is proposed to simulate the physicochemical behaviors of a lithium-ion battery. The estimation equations of both iterative open-circuit voltage and terminal voltage are deduced according to this model. A strong robust state-of-charge estimation method is designed without coupling optimization algorithm based on the iterative open-circuit voltage estimation equation. Experimental results of the Li(NiMnCo)O2 batteries under the Dynamic Stress Test cycle, the New European Driving Cycle, the Federal Urban Driving Schedule cycle, the Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule cycle and the constant current test confirm the efficacy of the proposed approach. Moreover, this method has excellent robustness against the initial error of 50% state-of-charge which is eliminated within 6 s under five working conditions and it provides a reliable state-of-charge estimation for the sampling data of different sampling periods between a second and 60 s.

Strongly coupled FeP@reduced graphene oxide (FeP@rGO) nanocomposites are synthesized by low-temperature phosphorization of α-FeOOH@graphene oxide (α-FeOOH@GO). The introduced graphene sheets not only effectively buffer the volume change during lithiation/delithiation, but also largely facilitate the ionic/electron diffusion kinetics. When used as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), FeP@rGO nanocomposites show excellent electrochemical performance. Among them, FeP@rGO nanocomposite prepared with the mass ratio of 1:5 (graphene oxide to FeCl3·6H2O) shows the best lithium storage properties. It delivers a reversible discharge capacity of 1000 mA h g−1 at 100 mA g−1 after 100 cycles, as well as an ultra-stable capacity of 460 mAh g−1 at 1000 mA g−1 for 400 cycles. The outstanding lithium storage performance of FeP@rGO nanocomposites opens venues for the potential applications of advanced LIBs.

The ice coating on the blade surface of wind turbine in winter seriously affects the operation safety and power generation efficiency of wind turbine, and anti icing and deicing is an urgent technical problem. In this paper, a super-hydrophobic anti-icing coating was prepared by fluorination modification, and the effect of the addition of perfluoropolyether (PFPE) and ZnO on the performance of the coating was studied. The research results show that the addition of PFPE reduces the surface energy of the coating from 18.12 mJ m−2 at 0% to 13.22 mJ m−2 at 15%. The surface free energy has a linear relationship with the binding force of icing. With the increase of the amount of PFPE, the contact angle of the coating increases, the sliding angle decreases, and the delayed icing performance improves. When the amount of PFPE reaches 15%, the contact angle reaches the highest value of 158°, and the sliding angle is 2°; adding PFPE coating, the freezing delay time can reach 107.1 s. The addition of PFPE can effectively reduce the icing strength, and the icing bonding force of the coating is reduced to 0.59 N at 15%. The addition of a amount of ZnO can greatly change the microstructure of the coating surface, thereby changing its superhydrophobicity. The fluorinated superhydrophobicity coating modified by the addition and removal of ZnO has obvious anti-icing performance. The 6 wt% sample has the best delayed icing energy.

Accurate estimation of the online state-of-charge of the battery is one of the crucial issues in a battery management system. An improved gas-liquid dynamics model is proposed to simulate the physicochemical behaviors of a lithium-ion battery, such as the electron transference, terminal voltage lagging open-circuit voltage, Li+ diffusion and equilibrium, and ohmic effect. The state-of-charge estimation equations with open-circuit voltage and temperature iterations are deduced according to this model. A robust method of online state-of-charge estimation is elaborated to achieve the goal of quickly eliminating the incorrect initial state-of-charge and temperature. The soft-packing, cylindrical and prismatic Li(NiMnCo)O2 batteries are used for experimental verification under the constant current test, the Dynamic Stress Test cycle and the Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule cycle, respectively. Furthermore, the study of the effect of the sampling period on estimation accuracy and the sensitivity analysis of the parameter is carried out. For the three types of batteries, the results show that the maximum SOC estimation error of the proposed method is 2.78%. The proposed method has strong robustness against the initial errors of 100% state-of-charge and ±20 K temperature.

The primordial model of quantum computation was introduced over thirty years ago and the first quantum algorithms have appeared for over twenty years. Yet the exact architectures for quantum computer seem foreign to an undergraduate student major in computer science or engineering, even though the mass media has helped popularize the terminologies in the past decade. Despite being a cutting-edge technology from both the theoretical and the experimental perspectives, quantum computation is indeed imminent and it would be helpful to give the undergraduate students at least a skeleton understanding of what a quantum computer stands for. Since instruction-set architectures originated from classical computing models are familiar, we propose analogously a set of quantum instructions, which can be composed to implement renowned quantum algorithms. Albeit the similarity one can draw between classical and quantum computer architectures, current quantum instructions are fundamentally incommensurable from their classical counterparts because they lack the innate capability to implement logical deductions and recursions. We discuss this trait in length and illustrate why it is held responsible that current quantum computers not be considered general computers.

Uniform dispersion of unbundled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was the bottleneck to convert their attractive properties to CNTs-reinforced composites. In this study, a solution ball milling (SBM) approach was developed to homogeneously disperse CNTs in Al matrix composites (AMCs). The process integrated strategies of solution coating, mechanical ball milling, and Al flake producing into a simple organic unity. The dispersion quality, crystal structure, and strengthening effect of CNTs in AMCs processed by SBM were investigated through scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Raman analysis, and tensile tests. Compared with previous methods, the SBM process was simple and effective to obtain a homogeneous CNT dispersion with a large aspect ratio and small CNT damages. The tensile strength of Al matrix was noticeably enhanced by CNT additions agreeing with the potential strengthening effect predicted by the load transfer mechanism. Shortened carbon nanotubes (CNT) were completely transformed to in situ Al4C3 nanorods by template reaction of CNT with Al matrix via powder metallurgy. Strong Al–Al4C3 interface, good distribution and complete single-crystal structure of Al4C3 nanorods, resulted in a remarkably improved strengthening effect in Al matrix composites. It concluded that in situ formed Al4C3 nanorod was a novel promising reinforcement for designing high-performance Al nanocomposites.

Visual question answering (VQA) requires both inferring and providing correct answers based on the semantics of the question and the content of the image. We propose a co-attention spatial reasoning model, it models the co-attention, and spatial reasoning attention for the VQA task. The model maps the question text information to image region to reason the fusion features, which contain fine-grained semantic information of two models. Meanwhile, it can obtain the spatial relationship between question words and image regions. The model was trained and verified on the VQA-v2 dataset, the best single model achieves an accuracy rate of 69.55% on the test-dev set.
