The hepatitis B virus (HBV) is one of the major viral infection problems worldwide in public health. The exclusive proprietary Chinese medicine Ganweikang (GWK) tablet has been marketed for years in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB). However, the pharmacodynamic material basis and underlying mechanism of GWK are not completely clear. This study is aimed at investigating the pharmacological mechanism of the GWK tablet in the treatment of CHB. The chemical ingredient information was obtained from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP), Traditional Chinese Medicines Integrated Database (TCMID), and Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of CAS. Ingredients and disease-related targets were defined by a combination of differentially expressed genes from CHB transcriptome data and open-source databases. Target-pathway-target (TPT) network analysis, molecular docking, and chemical composition analysis were adopted to further verify the key targets and corresponding active ingredients of GWK. Eight herbs of GWK were correlated to 330 compounds with positive oral bioavailability, and 199 correlated targets were identified. The TPT network was constructed based on the 146 enriched targets by KEGG pathway analysis, significantly associated with 95 pathways. Twenty-five nonvolatile components and 25 volatile components in GWK were identified in UPLC-QTOF/MS and GC-MS chromatograms. The key active ingredients of GWK include ferulic acid, oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, tormentic acid, 11-deoxyglycyrrhetic acid, dibenzoyl methane, anisaldehyde, wogonin, protocatechuic acid, psoralen, caffeate, dimethylcaffeic acid, vanillin, β-amyrenyl acetate, formonentin, aristololactam IIIa, and 7-methoxy-2-methyl isoflavone, associated with targets CA2, NFKB1, RELA, AKT1, JUN, CA1, CA6, IKBKG, FOS, EP300, CREB1, STAT1, MMP9, CDK2, ABCB1, and ABCG2.

Accurate travel time prediction (TTP) is a significant aspect in the intelligent transportation system (ITS) . Travel times of certain road segments explicitly reflect the traffic conditions of those sections. Effective TTP of road segments is instrumental in route planning, traffic control, and traffic management. However, the accuracy of TTP is greatly affected by the intricate topological structure of traffic network and the dynamics of traffic flow over time. This paper develops a TTP method based on the spatial-feature-based hierarchical clustering (SFHC) and deep multi-input gated recurrent unit (DMGRU) . The proposed two-stage method is capable of capturing the spatial-temporal features of traffic network. Specifically, the SFHC divides the road segments into several clusters having similar traffic features, and then the clustered data is fed into the DMGRU for TTP. Our experiments conducted on the practical dataset demonstrate that the designed prediction method can achieve the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 3.3109% and mean absolute error (MAE) of 2.5658, which outperform various combinations of baseline clustering algorithms and prediction models.

Emerging evidence indicates that the alterations in the gut microbiota-brain axis (GBA), which is the bilateral connection between the gut microbial communities and brain function, are involved in several mental illnesses, including depression. Certain probiotic strains have been revealed to improve depressive behaviours and the dysregulation of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) metabolism in depression. Here we evaluated the potential antidepressant effects of Lactobacillus helveticus strains using an in vitro enterochromaffin cell model (RIN14B). The L. helveticus strain WHH1889 was shown to significantly promote the level of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HTP, 5-HT precursor) and the gene expression of tryptophan hydroxylase 1 (Tph1), which is the key synthetase in the 5-HT biosynthesis in RIN14B cells. Ingestion of 0.2 ml WHH1889 (1´109 cfu/ml) in a chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) mouse model of depression for five weeks normalised depressive and anxiety-like behaviours in the forced swim test, tail suspension test, sucrose preference test, and open field test. Meanwhile, the CUMS-induced elevated level of serum corticosterone and declined levels of hippocampal 5-HT and 5-HTP were reversed by WHH1889. Furthermore, the disturbances of the gut microbiome composition with reduced microbial diversity were also improved by WHH1889, accompanied by the increased colonic 5-HTP level and Tph1 gene expression. In summary, these findings indicate that WHH1889 exerts antidepressant-like effects on CUMS mice, which is associated with the modulations of the 5-HT/5-HTP metabolism and gut microbiome composition. Therefore, ingestion of the L. helveticus strain WHH1889 with antidepressant potentials may become an encouraging therapeutic option in the treatment of depression.

This study aimed to validate the performance of the custom formulated Sensititre YeastOne One (SYO) microdilution plate which includes isavuconazole (AUSNMRC1) to perform susceptibility testing on clinically relevant yeast and mould species across three Australian reference laboratories. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) results were compared with the IVD approved SYO YO10 microdilution plate and isavuconazole gradient strips. A total of 127 isolates were tested on both the YO10 and AUSNMRC1 plates. The overall essential agreement (EA) and categorical agreement (CA) for the eight common drugs was 99.9% and 98.8%, respectively. The EA was 96.9% for the isavuconazole MICs obtained using the AUSNMRC1 plate and gradient strip. The MIC results for all nine antifungals on the AUSNMRC1 panel were highly reproducible for all quality control and reference strains and the overall EA and CA for 45 clinical strains tested across all three participating laboratories were93% and 94.1%, respectively. These findings demonstrate the SYO AUSNMRC1 plate provides a commercial means to determine isavuconazole MICs by broth microdilution testing.

This paper mainly studies the adsorption of C3N4 on a series of heavy metals and focuses on the adsorption performance of C3N4 on Nd and Th. The main conclusions are as follows: Through the use of the thermal stripping method and melamine as the raw material, C3N4 was obtained at a lower cost, with superior adsorption performance. Through SEM-EDS, TEM, and other characterization analyses, the results show that C3N4 has a clear multilayer sheet structure, and the surface of the material is more uniformly dispersed. The maximum adsorption capacity of C3N4 for Th is 86.6 mg.g-1, and the maximum adsorption capacity for Nd is 60.1 mg.g-1. The kinetic model is also used for fitting, and the results showed that the kinetic of the adsorption was in line with the pseudo-second-order model, indicating that the adsorption was chemical interaction. After C3N4 adsorbed heavy metal elements, it was characterized by SEM-EDS, TEM, UHRTEM, and AFM. The results showed that a variety of heavy metal ions can be adsorbed by C3N4, which proved that C3N4 has good adsorption performance. Due to factors such as metal particle size, the adsorption of C3N4 on heavy metal elements is different.

To investigate whether frailty modifies the association of systolic blood pressure (SBP) with cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality in community-dwelling older adults.A prospective cohort study.A population-based study of nationally representative older Chinese adults in a community setting.This study included participants aged 65 years or older from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey 2002-2014 and followed up to 2018.Participants were divided into two groups according to a frailty index based on the accumulation of a 44-items deficits model. The association between SBP and mortality was analyzed using multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazards models.Among 18,503 participants included, the mean age was 87.2 years and the overall median follow-up time was 42.7 months. We identified 7808 (42.2%) frail participants (mean frailty index=0.33), in which 7533 (96.5%) died during the follow-up. Effect modification by frailty was detected (P for interaction=0.032). Among frail participants, a U-shaped association was found with hazard ratios of 1.16 (95% CI, 1.02-1.32) for SBPlt; 100 mmHg, and 1.11 (95% CI, 1.00-1.24) for SBP ≥ 150 mmHg compared with SBP 120-130 mmHg. For non-frail older adults, a tendency toward higher risk among those with SBP ≥ 130 mmHg was observed. The analyses towards cardiovascular mortality showed similar results.Our results suggest the presence of effect modification by frailty indicating a possible negative effect for elevated SBP in non-frail older adults and a U-shaped relationship of SBP in frail older adults with respect to mortality even after adjusting for diastolic blood pressure.

To reduce the influence of time delay on the tracking performance of a direct-drive motion control system, this paper concentrates on stability analysis and cooperative position tracking control issues for the dual linear switched reluctance motors (LSRMs) system with network-induced time delays. The closed-loop network control system (NCS) is constructed by modeling random and bounded network-induced time delays existing in forward and feedback channels as a discrete-time Markov chain. Incremental time delay information is introduced in Lyapunov functional analysis to satisfy the high-precision movement of master and secondary motors and improve the system control performance. The time delay compensation method is proposed to compensate for the damage to the networked control system caused by random delay. With Lyapunov stability theory and LMI are applied, stability and stabilization conditions with less computational complexity and low conservatism are obtained based on incremental time delay information insertion. Finally, the numerical simulation and the experimental platform of the motor control system are built. Simulation and experiment results demonstrate that the networked control strategy can compensate the negative impact of delay on the tracking performance of LSRMs based motion control system.

The unprecedented emergence of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in mainland Australia represents an outbreak of high clinical and public health significance. JE is a zoonosis spread by mosquitoes and is one of the most important causes of endemic viral encephalitis in South-East Asia and the Indian subcontinent. While occasional cases of human Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) infection have occurred in far north Australia, its detection in pigs and the substantial number of locally acquired human cases across multiple jurisdictions in early 2022 prompted the declaration of this outbreak as a Communicable Disease Incident of National Significance. Laboratory testing for JEV is complex, and most cases are diagnosed by serology, for which interpretation is difficult. This review provides a comprehensive outline of currently available methods for JEV diagnosis including serology, nucleic acid amplification testing, virus isolation, sequencing and metagenomics. The relative advantages and disadvantages of the diagnostic tests are presented, as well as their value in clinical and public health contexts. This review also explores the role of mosquito, veterinary and human surveillance as part of the laboratory response to JEV. As JEV may become endemic in Australia, a collaborative and coordinated One Health approach involving animal, human and environmental health is required for optimal disease response and control.

As an emerging foreign trade model, crossborder E-commerce is booming. This foreign trade model shortens the distance between products from manufacturers to foreign consumers and reshapes the value chain of foreign trade. However, because buyers and sellers use virtualization. Negotiations and consultations on the platform may also involve the participation of freight forwarders and the services of shipping companies, which increases the uncertainty of the transaction process and results. How to efficiently and confidentially transfer information to each other is the main idea and goal of this paper. Foreign buyers, domestic sellers, shipping companies, and freight forwarding companies are independent entities. Due to common transaction events, the interaction between the four parties has been promoted. However, independent information systems cannot exchange information (or content) with other entities. Based on this point, our goal has formulated an integrated freight forwarding program.

We present a new statistical method for constructing background subtracted measurements from event list data gathered by X-ray and gamma ray observatories. This method was initially developed specifically to construct images that account for the high background fraction and low overall count rates observed in survey data from the Mikhail Pavlinsky ART-XC telescope aboard the Spektrum R\"{o}ntgen Gamma (SRG) mission, although the mathematical underpinnings are valid for data taken with other imaging missions and analysis applications. This method fully accounts for the expected Poisson fluctuations in both the sky photon and non X-ray background count rates in a manner that does not result in unphysical negative counts. We derive the formulae for arbitrary confidence intervals for the source counts and show that our new measurement converges exactly to the standard background subtraction calculation in the high signal limit. Utilizing these results, we discuss several variants of images designed to optimize different science goals for both pointed and slewing telescopes. Using realistic simulated data of a galaxy cluster as observed by ART-XC we show that our method provides a more significant and robust detection of the cluster emission as compared to a standard background subtraction. We also demonstrate its advantages using real observations of a point source from the ART-XC telescope. Stereo matching has become an active area of research in the field of computer vision. In minimally invasive surgery, stereo matching provides depth information to surgeons, with the potential to increase the safety of surgical procedures, particularly those performed laparoscopically. Many stereo matching methods have been reported to perform well for natural images, but for images acquired during a laparoscopic procedure, they are limited by image characteristics including illumination differences, weak texture content, specular highlights, and occlusions. To overcome these limitations, we propose a robust edge-preserving stereo matching method for laparoscopic images, comprising an efficient sparse-dense feature matching step, left and right image illumination equalization, and refined disparity optimization. We validated the proposed method using both benchmark biological phantoms and surgical stereoscopic data. Experimental results illustrated that, in the presence of heavy illumination differences between image pairs, texture and textureless surfaces, specular highlights and occlusions, our proposed approach consistently obtains a more accurate estimate of the disparity map than state-of-the-art stereo matching methods in terms of robustness and boundary preservation.

Strongly lensed quasars can provide measurements of the Hubble constant ($H_{0}$) independent of any other methods. One of the key ingredients is exquisite high-resolution imaging data, such as Hubble Space Telescope (HST) imaging and adaptive-optics (AO) imaging from ground-based telescopes, which provide strong constraints on the mass distribution of the lensing galaxy. In this work, we expand on the previous analysis of three time-delay lenses with AO imaging (RXJ1131-1231, HE0435-1223, and PG1115+080), and perform a joint analysis of J0924+0219 by using AO imaging from the Keck Telescope, obtained as part of the SHARP (Strong lensing at High Angular Resolution Program) AO effort, with HST imaging to constrain the mass distribution of the lensing galaxy. Under the assumption of a flat $\Lambda$CDM model with fixed $\Omega_{\rm m}=0.3$, we show that by marginalizing over two different kinds of mass models (power-law and composite models) and their transformed mass profiles via a mass-sheet transformation, we obtain $\Delta t_{\rm BA}h\hat{\sigma}_{v}^{-2}=6.89\substack{+0.8\\-0.7}$ days, $\Delta t_{\rm CA}h\hat{\sigma}_{v}^{-2}=10.7\substack{+1.6\\-1.2}$ days, and $\Delta t_{\rm DA}h\hat{\sigma}_{v}^{-2}=7.70\substack{+1.0\\-0.9}$ days, where $h=H_{0}/100~\rm km\,s^{-1}\,Mpc^{-1}$ is the dimensionless Hubble constant and $\hat{\sigma}_{v}=\sigma^{\rm ob}_{v}/(280~\rm km\,s^{-1})$ is the scaled dimensionless velocity dispersion. Future measurements of time delays with 10% uncertainty and velocity dispersion with 5% uncertainty would yield a $H_0$ constraint of $\sim15$% precision., Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures

Taiwan is located in subtropical monsoon area and Pacific Ring of Fire. Both the rate of crustal uplift and annual rainfall are among the highest in the world. Earthquakes and heavy rainfall have led to massive landslides and debris flow. Frequent disasters and the high rate of surface erosion have caused drastic changes in river topography and catchment areas, and, consequently, have impacted the safety of human lives. To mitigate the losses, better simulation and prediction of landslides are critical. Existing landslide prediction research works employed terrain, geology, rainfall, earthquakes and human activities as landslide triggering factors in the predicting model. In addition to aforementioned environmental conditions, this study would like to explore the use of SAR differential interferometry (InSAR) information to help observe characteristics of the slope movement behavior, which is also an important factor. Factors are analyzed and quantified on the basis of slope units. To confirm the applicability of selected factors to landslide, factors are firstly analyzed with Spearman correlation, and then those with higher correlations are incorporated into the prediction model. Machine learning based techniques are then employed to establish the prediction model. The experiment result demonstrates that InSAR information can improve the accuracy by more than 5% in landslide prediction.

A structure–function characterization of Synechococcus elongatus enolase (SeEN) is presented, representing the first structural report on a cyanobacterial enolase. X-ray crystal structures of SeEN in its apoenzyme form and in complex with phosphoenolpyruvate are reported at 2.05 and 2.30 Å resolution, respectively. SeEN displays the typical fold of enolases, with a conformationally flexible loop that closes the active site upon substrate binding, assisted by two metal ions that stabilize the negatively charged groups. The enzyme exhibits a catalytic efficiency of 1.2 × 105 M −1 s−1 for the dehydration of 2-phospho-D-glycerate, which is comparable to the kinetic parameters of related enzymes. These results expand the understanding of the biophysical features of these enzymes, broadening the toolbox for metabolic engineering applications.

As communities reopen following shelter-in-place orders, they are facing two conflicting objectives. The first is to keep the COVID-19 fatality rate down. The second is to revive the U.S. economy and the livelihood of millions of Americans. In this paper, a team of researchers from the Center on Stochastic Modeling, Optimization, & Statistics (COSMOS) at the University of Texas at Arlington, in collaboration with researchers from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, has formulated a computationally-efficient optimization framework, referred to as COSMOS COVID-19 Linear Programming (CC19LP), to study the delicate balance between the expected fatality rate and the level of normalcy in the community. Given the disproportionate fatality characteristics of COVID-19 among those in different age groups or with an underlying medical condition or those living with crowding, the key to the CC19LP framework is a focus on “key contacts” that separate individuals at higher risk from the rest of the population. The philosophy of CC19LP lies in maximizing protection of key contacts, so as to shield high-risk individuals from infection. Given the lack of pharmaceutical solutions, i.e., a vaccine or cure, the CC19LP framework minimizes expected fatalities by optimizing the use of non-pharmaceutical interventions, namely COVID-19 testing; personal protective equipment; and social precautions, such as distancing, hand-washing, and face coverings. Low-risk individuals that are not key contacts, including most children, are unrestricted and can choose to participate in pre-pandemic normal activities, which eliminates the need for compliance across the entire population. Consequently, the CC19LP framework demonstrates optimal strategies for protecting high-risk individuals while reopening communities.

With intrinsic non-uniform illumination variations in laparoscopic images, such images often suffer from insufficient lighting and low visibility. This in turn may cause incorrect targeting, surgical risk, and extended operating time during laparoscopic surgery. Although various methods for nature image enhancement have been proposed in past decades, surgical laparoscopic image enhancement still needs improving due to issues including naturalness, blurred texture, color cast, and extensive computational time. To address these problems, this paper proposes a distributed Retinex optimization method for laparoscopic image enhancement using refined information fusion. The proposed method minimizes a distributed optimization model with l 2 -norm regularization terms, resulting in a low computational complexity. By integrating the refined image information into the optimization process, our method significantly enhances dark regions while preserving naturalness and texture structures. Experimental results show that our optimization algorithm is more effective than conventional enhancement algorithms in terms of vision augmentation, performance index, and computation time.

Yu and Cao proposed “Cryptography based on delayed chaotic neural networks” in 2006. However, in 2009, Yang et al. pointed out the Yu-Cao scheme can not against chosen plaintext attack. Liu et al. studies exclusiveor logical operation very well, and provided Boolean algebra proofs in 2012. Ye et al. used Liu et al.’s method to reinterpret and analyze Yu-Cao scheme in 2018. In this paper the authors would like to give a formal verification by Galois field expression on the exclusive-or operation problem again. As this result, it makes more effective insecure to Yu-Cao algorithm.

Background Invasive infections due to Trichosporon spp. are life-threatening opportunistic fungal infections that require complex clinical management. Guidelines assist clinicians but can be challenging to comply with. Objectives To develop a scoring tool to facilitate and quantify adherence to current guideline recommendations for invasive trichosporonosis. Methods We reviewed the current guideline for managing rare yeast infections (ECMM, ISHAM and ASM). The most important recommendations for diagnosis, treatment and follow-up were assembled and weighted according to their strength of recommendation and level of evidence. Additional items considered highly relevant for clinical management were also included. Results The resulting EQUAL Trichosporon Score 2022 comprises 18 items, with a maximum score of 39 points. For diagnostics, seven or eight items, depending on whether organ involvement is present or not, apply, resulting in a maximum of 18 or 21 points. Recommendations on diagnostics include imaging, infectious diseases expert consultation, culture, microscopy, molecular techniques, histopathology, and susceptibility testing. For treatment, six recommendations with a maximum of ten points were identified, with two additional points for organ involvement and one point for second-line treatment in uncontrolled disease. Treatment recommendations include immediate initiation, source control, pharmacological treatment, therapeutic drug monitoring, treatment duration and surgical intervention. Follow-up comprises two items with five points maximum, covering follow-up blood cultures and imaging. Conclusions The EQUAL Trichosporon Score weighs and aggregates factors recommended for optimal management of Trichosporon infections. It provides a tool for antifungal stewardship as well as for measuring guideline adherence, but remains to be correlated with patient outcomes.

Early, accurate diagnosis of invasive fungal disease (IFD) improves clinical outcomes. 1,3-beta-d-glucan (BDG) (Fungitell, Associates of Cape Cod, Inc., Falmouth, MA, USA) detection can improve IFD diagnosis but has been unavailable in Australia.To assess performance of serum BDG for IFD diagnosis in a high-risk Australian haematology population.We compared the diagnostic value of weekly screening of serum BDG with screening by Aspergillus polymerase chain reaction and Aspergillus galactomannan in 57 at-risk episodes for the diagnosis of IFD (proven, probable, possible IFD).IFD episodes were: proven (n = 4); probable (n = 4); possible (n = 18); and no IFD (n = 31). Using two consecutive BDG results of ≥80 pg/mL to call a result 'positive', the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value was 37.5%, 64.5%, 23.1% and 80.7% respectively. For invasive aspergillosis, test performance increased to 50%, 90.3%, 57.1% and 87.5% respectively if any two of serum BDG/Aspergillus polymerase chain reaction/galactomannan yielded a 'positive' result. In proven/probable IFD, five of eight episodes returned a positive BDG result earlier (mean 6.6 days) than other diagnostic tests. False-negative BDG results occurred in three of eight episodes of proven/probable IFD, and false positive in 10 of 31 patients with no IFD. Erratic patterns of BDG values predicted false positive results (P = 0.03). Using serum BDG results, possible IFD were reassigned to either 'no' or 'probable' IFD in 44% cases. Empiric anti-fungal therapy use may have been optimised by BDG monitoring in 38.5% of courses.The BDG assay can add diagnostic speed and value but was hampered by low sensitivity and positive predictive value in Australian haematology patients.

One session of high energy extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) was found to improve the healing of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) after reconstruction in animal and human studies. This study investigated the effects of three and six sessions of low energy ESWT on graft incorporation and knee functions post ACL reconstruction in humans.Thirty participants with ACL injuries were recruited and assigned equally into three groups with 10 participants per group (n=10). Participants in the control group received physiotherapy alone without low energy ESWT. Participants in the 3ESWT group underwent three sessions of low energy ESWT (one session per week) combined with physiotherapy, and participants in the 6ESWT group received six sessions of low energy ESWT (one session per week) combined with physiotherapy. However, five participants were lost to follow-up. Evaluations of graft incorporation of the tibial tunnel using magnetic resonance (MRI) and Lysholm score were carried out before ACL reconstruction and after six months post ACL reconstruction.The number of grafts with partial incorporation in the tibia tunnel in 6ESWT was significantly higher compared with the number of grafts with non-incorporation at six months post-operatively, X2 (1, N=9) =5.44, p =0.02. However, there was no significant difference between frequencies of graft incorporation in tibia tunnel in the control and 3ESWT groups, X2 (1, N=7) =3.57, p =0.06 and X2 (1, N=9) =2.78, p =0.10, respectively at 6 months postoperatively. Lysholm scores were significantly higher at 6 months post ACL reconstruction compared to the baseline value for each group (p0.002, respectively). However, there was no significant difference in the Lysholm score between each group (F = 2.798, p = 0.083).Six sessions of low energy ESWT improved graft incorporation in the tibial tunnel. Both three and six sessions of low energy of ESWT does not affect the knee function score at six months post ACL reconstruction.
