Purpose The main objective of this study was to test the psychometric properties of the Polish version of SDQ-20 and the capacity of this instrument, alongside a set of five questions derived from it (SDQ-5), to screen for dissociative disorders. The Somatoform Dissociation Questionnaire (SDQ-20) has been used in many language versions to evaluate the severity of somatoform dissociative symptoms, but no such tool has existed in Polish. Basic procedures Both pen-and-paper (pp PSDQ-5: sensitivity of 95.0% and specificity of 65.9%). People with dissociative disorders had significantly (P Principal Conclusion SDQ-20, administered p&p or online, proved to be a reliable tool for the screening of dissociative disorders in Poland. An alternative set of five questions (PSDQ-5) derived from the main instrument also presented good psychometric properties.

The presented research shows that consumer choice of product depends on the sequence in which products are presented. When they were presented according to decreasing prices the customer chose more expensive products than in the case of increasing prices. However this happens only in case of paying cash not voucher. In order to rule out the alternative reasons of this effect another study was conducted. Participants of the second study were randomly acquainted with 10 product brands. Then they chose one of ten products which were sorted according to their prices: decreasing or increasing. Again, when paying cash, participants chose more expensive products when they were sorted according to decreasing prices. The results of second research suggest that the presented differences in choosing products cannot be explained by anchoring heuristic, the effect of priority, or incomplete information processing.

This article introduces ABBL, the anti-bullying program for the transition to middle school, which was designed as a free, feasible, and easily applicable solution for teachers who, for any reason, cannot take advantage of comprehensive anti-bullying school-based programs. The ABBL, based on the identification of the causal risk factors and mechanisms that lead to bullying, aims to influence the peer group in such a way that students do not reward antisocial behaviors and are, instead, able to create supportive class atmospheres and strong networks of personal attachments. The evaluation of the program effectiveness showed that it reduced bullying in the classroom. Indications for wider implementations are presented together with the ready-to-use ABBL anti-bullying program (see http://blizej.org/abbl-antibullying-program/ ).

Artykuł przedstawia opis projektu interwencji edukacyjnej mającej zapobiegać zjawisku wykluczenia rówieśniczego, które pojawia się w pierwszych tygodniach nauki w gimnazjum. Uzasadniono potrzebę stworzenia takiej interwencji na podstawie doniesień badawczych świadczących o nasilaniu się problemu wykluczenia rówieśniczego w polskich gimnazjach. Opisano założenia i etapy realizacji projektu. W ramach eksploracyjnego badania jakościowego przeprowadzonego z udziałem uczniów i nauczycieli gimnazjów potwierdzono istotny wpływ atmosfery w klasie na funkcjonowanie uczniów i nauczycieli w szkole i poza nią oraz określono cechy uczniów najbardziej narażonych na wykluczenie rówieśnicze. Stwierdzono też, że uczniowie, pomimo wiedzy o konsekwencjach zachowań wykluczających, bagatelizują skutki własnych zachowań tego typu. Opisano założenia programu i przedstawiono wyniki ewaluacji wstępnej, potwierdzającej skuteczność programu.

The main aim of this study was to examine whether the economic status (current and in childhood) determined pro-ecological attitudes and behaviour. The survey involved 207 adults with different economic status. Both economic status in childhood and the present were taken into consideration. Analysis of the results indicated that people raised in families with low and medium material status have not only more eco-friendly attitudes but also have a greater tendency towards various ‘green’ behaviours. The differences among people with different current material status concerning their eco-friendly attitudes and behaviours are not so obvious. The most wealthy seem to have a less pro-ecological attitude, but on the other hand they are ready to put more money towards ecologically-friendly household expenses.

Socially oriented preferences in decision making and their relation with work and home environment The aim of this paper was to create a psychometric instrument for the measurement of socially oriented preferences in economic decisions made in professional and private life as well as at scrutinizing the effects of various environmental variables on these preferences. For this purpose, two surveys were carried out on a group of adult working Poles (N=348+487=835). The idea of the new questionnaire and the results of factor analysis are described herein, along with the other examinations confirming the accuracy of the new instrument. A significant correspondence between eight situational factors: five in professional life (goal setting strategy, work style, role and responsibility, position, non-financial rewards) and three in private life (frequency of family meeting, marital status, parenthood), and the intensity of socially oriented preferences in economic decisions was confirmed. Both surveys showed that these preferences undergo significant alterations along with each slightest change in situational factors, even ones not directly connected with the decision at hand. Moreover, the studies indicate that the intensity of socially oriented preferences vary with respect to gender and age. Practitioner Points: (1) Team goal setting strategy, work style, responsibility and non-financial rewards intense socially oriented preferences. (2) Financial rewards are irrelevant for socially oriented preferences.

Psychological consequences of money and money attitudes in dictator game According to the research conducted by Vohs, Mead, and Goode (2006, 2008), reminders of money cause people to behave self-sufficiently, and especially to reveal a reduced tendency to charitable behaviour. In this study, we wanted to establish if this tendency would be present in the dictator game, and if so, whether money activation would just change behaviour, or whether it would also change people's evaluation of their own decisions. We assumed that people who revealed symbolic and instrumental money attitudes would react differently to money activation. As expected, money priming caused smaller money transfers compared to the control condition, and this effect was significant among those with symbolic attitudes toward money. Moreover, participants who transferred at least half of the sum after money activation declared stronger negative emotions and lower satisfaction with the decision than those who made similar transfers in the control condition.

Gender differences in allocation choices made by children aged 5 to 6 The main aim of this article is to supplement gaps in current knowledge concerning the development of competences related to goods allocation choices. We conducted a study in which 158 children aged 5 to 6 made choices concerning allocations of goods between themselves and the other, anonymous child. The crucial findings point to boys as more selfish in their choices than girls. Furthermore, we provide evidence for the claim that young children (especially boys) are aware that their choices are egoistic. Since our study adopted a similar methodology to that of the recent Swiss study, we were able to conduct cross-cultural analysis. The comparison of children's choices in the Polish study and the Swiss one pictures Polish children as displaying a stronger egalitarian preferences and revealing egoistic preferences less frequently than the children from Switzerland.
