La presente tesis doctoral da a conocer las principales manufacturas sederas francesas, italianas y españolas del siglo XVIII. Seguidamente, relata el intercambio de tejidos en España a través del comercio. Además, establece las pautas para la descripción de trajes, mobiliario y decoración, carruajes, ornamentos litúrgicos y vestiduras de imagen, es decir, todo aquello que, perteneciente a esta centuria, esté confeccionado o revestido con telas labradas. Por último, se analizan los diferentes diseños textiles y su datación, gracias a los parámetros descritos en cuanto a forma, tamaño, colores y disposición de los motivos ornamentales sobre el fondo. A lo largo de la investigación se presta especial atención a los ejemplos conservados en la diócesis de Jaén por su riqueza tipológica cuantitativa y cualitativa. Nuestro trabajo incorpora, además, un glosario de términos textiles que aúna conceptos históricos extraídos de fondos archivísticos inéditos, tipológicos, decorativos y técnicos. This thesis issues the main French, Italian and Spaniard silk manufactures of the 18th century. Thereupon, tells the tissues exchange in Spain through trade. Moreover, establish the patterns for the description of garments, furniture and decoration, carriages, liturgical ornaments and self-image, that is to say, everything which belongs to this century, even though it is tailored or coated with carved fabrics. Lastly, different textiles designs and their dating are analysed, due to the described parameters in respect of shape, size, colours and the disposition of the ornamental motifs on the background. Over the course of the investigation specific attention is paid to the instances preserved in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jaén due to its quantitative, qualitative and typology wealth. Louise Bourgeois’s statement “l’art est une garantie de santé mentale” has been an inspiration for this research which addresses to deepen in the leading figure of the designer David Delfín. This study would show some accurate moments of his life in order to understand his legacy. As a faithful follower of Freud’s psychoanalytic theories and the passion which the surrealists had for their ‘patron saint’ it would be plausible parlance about emotions, as Bourgeois did, unconscious, that each of the collections which constitute the career path of David Delfin have been tacitly acknowledged by public. La frase de Louise Bourgeois “l’art est une garantie de santé mentale” ha inspirado esta investigación que trata de ahondar en la figura del diseñador malagueño David Delfín. En ella mostraremos algunos momentos puntuales de su vida con la intención de poder entender su obra. Como fiel seguidor del psicoanálisis de Freud y la pasión que los surrealistas tuvieron por su “santo patrono” resulta más que necesario hablar de emociones, como lo hiciera Bourgeois, inconscientes, que de manera tácita salen a la luz en cada una de las colecciones que componen la trayectoria de David Delfín.

El comercio artístico en el Setecientos fue especialmente prolífero. Si revisamos los inventarios del clero, la nobleza y la monarquía, nos damos cuenta de la importancia que tuvieron los textiles en sus colecciones. Lo cual indica que se trata de bienes muy preciados y de gran valor. La gran demanda de los mismos dio lugar a numerosas manufacturas que competían por ser las más solicitadas, no sólo a nivel nacional, sino también internacional. Y, aunque no fue fácil hacer frente a las fábricas francesas y alguna que otra italiana, no faltaron los centros sederos españoles que consiguieron captar a la gran clientela del momento. If only we revise the clergy, aristocracy and monarchy inventories, we realice the importance that textiles had in their colections; which indicates that are very appreciated goods and with great value. The great demand of them generated a number of manufactures which competed for the most requested textiles, not just at a national level, but also in the international one. Even though it was not easy to vie with the french manufactures and some other italian, there were also spanish silk industry centres which obtained to gain a huge clientele at the moment.
