Financial capability is one of the primary drivers for buyers to make purchases. Therefore, sellers must set an optimum selling price and consider trade credit facilities to attract more demand. This paper proposes an inventory decision model in which customer demand depends on the price and number of credit installments to serve low-abled buyers. This study has developed a demand function with a positive impact on installment policies and the effect of the selling price. Two models have been formulated to optimize the selling price and positive stock time, m total profit, with and without installment policies. Then, numerical examples and sensitivity analysis illustrate the proposed model for different cases. The study has found that the selling price and positive stock time can be optimized. Profits can be higher in the case of an installment facility than in the case without an installment facility. It shows positive responses from the buyer to the installment policy.

This study aims to determine the analysis of loan principal repayments and Ujrah / Mu'nah products of Rahn and Arrum Emas at Sharia Pawnshops in Lhokseumawe City. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. This research has been surveyed from 2020, where one of the loan agreements as a case study will end in 2022. The type of data used is qualitative data. The data sources used are primary data and data collection methods through direct interviews with employees, branch managers, randomly selected customers and general company data that can be accessed directly via the pawnshop link. The analytical method used is descriptive qualitative analysis. The research results show that every customer deciding on one of these contracts has certain considerations both in terms of the ability to pay all at once or in installments. Everything is tailored to the needs and income generated. The amount of ujrah or mu'nah determination, especially for Arrum Mas products, uses a flat calculation, where the loan principal and mu'nah are the same for each installment payment, which is 1 percent per month of the loan amount. The ujrah or mu'nah from Arrum Mas products is lower than Rahn products if the payment is calculated at maturity. - Abstract
This study was conducted to determine and apply a mathematical model to simulate the environmental and climatic parameters to evaluate the performance of different greenhouses in three areas within the Khartoum North – Sudan (Date Palm Technology Company., Abu Halima Center and Khartoum University). The assessment method depends on development of a computer simulation model to generate from house physical characteristics and climate data ten environmental performance evaluation indicators (Relative moisture efficiency; Cooling effectiveness, Moisture saturation efficiency; Water consumption rate; House overall efficiency; House ventilation rate, Optimum internal temperature and internal relative humidity). The result of application of the evaluation model for nine greenhouses in three different locations in Khartoum North reveals that there is no significant differences (P = 0.05) in evaluation indicators between the three studied areas. The study concluded that additional work is needed to upgrade the mode of running greenhouse crop cultivation system with regards to: using sustainable and energy efficient cooling and ventilation technologies, adopting new techniques to conserve water and its efficient utilization, introducing properly adapted materials for high temperatures and strong solar radiation, and accessibility of technologies such as automation systems. In the current system moisture use efficiency in particular found to be lower than expected and measures to improvement are critically needed. With respect to the system efficiency and utility of fan and pad greenhouse the effectiveness of cooling system is function of internal environmental parameter (temperature and relative humidity with negative relation). The evaluation model shows that cooling efficiency tends to go up in the areas with low relative humidity.

Plant Science - Abstract
Light is the most essential factor controlling plant growth, morphogenesis, metabolism and chlorophyll content of plant cells, tissues and organ culture. The present investigations were carried out to find out effects of different light intensities (210, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000 lx) on the regeneration of three plants, namely Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni., Solanum tuberosum L. and Bacopa monnieri L. Results showed that light intensity has a direct effect on plant growth in vitro. There was less time for shoot initiation and the highest mean number of shoots/explants (9.75 ± 3.862) of S. rebaudiana was observed from the nodal explants when the culture was maintained at 1000 lx light conditions. At maximum light intensity (3000 lx) best result was recorded for S. tuberosum. A distinct intensity of light, 1500 lx showed the best outcome both for the number and length of shoots of B. monnieri (p = 0.00). The present study also demonstrated the relationship between root growth and light condition. Bangladesh J. Bot. 52(1): 53-60, 2023 (March)

- Abstract
The main motive of the study is to explore the financial position of prominent industries in Bangladesh to give direction to investors for sound investment decisions. The Altman Z-score model has been used to assess the financial soundness of the 23 companies of five prominent industries in Bangladesh. Secondary data have been collected from the annual reports of the selected companies. This study found that 20% and 40% of the selected companies of the ceramic industry and tannery industry fall on the safe form respectively that means where investors can invest without any doubt as they are financially sound. Similarly, 28.57%, 40%, and 25% of the selected companies of cement, ceramic, and paper and printing industries stand in the grey zone respectively which indicates the companies have a good chance of bankruptcy within two years. Again 71.43%, 40%, 75%, 60%, and 100% of companies in the cement, ceramic, paper & printing, tannery, and jute industries’ financial conditions are not satisfactory respectively as they fall in the distress zone. And only 20% of the selected industries fall in the safe zone. That means the overall financial soundness of the selected industries is not well. This study will be an important source for further study in the field of credit strength measurement. Every actor of society those are involved in the business (investors, lenders, workers, suppliers, financial institutions as well as the economy itself) can be able to make adequate decisions by the findings of the study.

Textile supply chain challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia–Ukraine war give unique insights into how health crises and geopolitical instability could dry up supplies of vital materials for the smooth functioning of human societies in calamitous times. Coinciding adverse global events or future pandemics could create shortages of traditional face coverings among other vital materials. Reusable face coverings could be a viable relief option in such situations. This review identifies the lack of studies in the existing literature on reusable fabric face coverings available in the market. It focuses on the development, filtration mechanisms, and factors associated with the filtration efficiency of reusable knitted and woven fabric face coverings. The authors identified relevant papers through the Summon database. Keeping the focus on readily available fabrics, this paper encompasses the key aspects of reusable face coverings made of knitted and woven fabrics outlining filtration mechanisms and requirements, development, factors affecting filtration performance, challenges, and outcomes of clinical trials. Filtration mechanisms for reusable face coverings include interception and impaction, diffusion, and electrostatic attraction. Face covering development includes the identification of appropriate constituent fibers, yarn characteristics, and base fabric construction. Factors significantly affecting the filtration performance were electrostatic charge, particle size, porosity, layers, and finishes. Reusable face coverings offer several challenges including moisture management, breathing resistance factors, and balancing filtration with breathability. Efficacy of reusable face coverings in comparison to specialized non reusable masks in clinical trials has also been reviewed and discussed. Finally, the authors identified the use of certain finishes on fabrics as a major challenge to making reusable face coverings more effective and accessible to the public. This paper is expected to provide communities and research stakeholders with access to critical knowledge on the reusability of face coverings and their management during periods of global crisis.

This paper has been prepared based on secondary data. The China and Bangladesh diplomatic relations were established in 1975. Since then, the relationship between China and Bangladesh has been going high. The China-Bangladesh relationship reached a new level with China's President Xi Jinping's two-day historic visit to Bangladesh in October 2016. Which was widely dubbed a "historic state visit," the start of a "new horizon," or "a new historical starting point" of China and Bangladesh relations. There is a lot of history in the thousand-year-old friendship between China and Bangladesh. The relationship between Sino and Bangladesh is changing very fast after the twenty-first century. But also, there has a constant relation between China and Bangladesh. In this paper, we tried to explain the thousand-year-old friendship between the two countries and explore the "Change" and the "Constant" in international relations based on the China and Bangladesh perspective.

General Medicine - Abstract
Congenital heart defects (CHD) are the most common types of major birth defects, leading cause of infant morbidity and mortality. Syndromic babies are more affected by CHD. This observational study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital of military facility in Bangladesh. Eighty syndromic neonates were studied through history, physical examination and investigated for incidence and risk factors for CHD. Out of 80 syndromic neonates 61(76.3%) were found having CHD. Male female ratio was 1.18:1. Average age at diagnosis was 25±1.6 days of age. Down Syndrome (DS) and Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) were the most common syndromes. Ventricular Septal defect (VSD) and Atrial septal defect (ASD) II were the most common CHD. Consanguinity, extracardiac malformations, maternal illness (HTN, DM, Hypothyroidism etc.), both fertility and non-fertility medication are also found to be associated with CHD in Syndromic neonates. CHDs have serious implications and it is important to understand them and how they may affect the child so that appropriate medical and surgical treatment may be provided. So, early detection of CHD in neonate will be able to decrease morbidity as well as mortality. CBMJ 2023 January: Vol. 12 No. 01 P: 17-21

Derris scandens (Roxb.) Benth. (Family: Fabaceae), a recognized medicinal plant colloquially known as ‘Kalilata’ in Bangladesh, has been traditionally used as analgesic in Thailand. This study was intended to evaluate and compare the antimicrobial and membrane stabilizing potentials among the methanol extracts of D. scandens leaf and stem, and their fractionates. The stem and leaves of the plant were extracted by methanol separately and fractioned into aqueous, dicholoromethane (DCM), ethyl acetate and n-hexane soluble fractions. They were tested for antimicrobial activity by using the agar-well diffusion method where ciprofloxacin and fluconazole were used as references. The highest antimicrobial activity was observed against a Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli) by the DCM soluble fraction of the leaf and stem extracts with 20 mm and 15 mm zones of inhibition, respectively. The n-hexane soluble fraction of methanol extract of stem revealed weak to moderate antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria. The ethyl acetate soluble fractionates of methanol extracts of leaf and stem showed similar antifungal property against Saccharomyces cerevisiae with a zone of inhibition of 12 mm. The membrane stabilizing potential of the extractives was estimated based on the prevention of hemolysis of RBC prompted by hypotonic solution as well as heat. The n-hexane and DCM soluble fractions of both extracts showed around 75% inhibition of hypotonic solution- and heatinduced hemolysis. All in all, the extracts and several fractionates showed moderate antimicrobial and membrane stabilizing properties and further investigations are warranted to find out active phytoconstituents responsible for these properties. This study was conducted to assess the antioxidant potential and thrombolytic activity of the methanolic extract of the Delonix regia leaves and its partitionates. The methanolic extract was partitioned into four fractions (pet ether, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and aqueous) according to polarity. These fractions were subjected to further investigation. The antioxidant potential was assessed by two methods one was by using the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent as oxidant and gallic acid as a standard; and another method was the DPPH assay. In Folin-Ciocalteu reagent using method, all fractions showed significant antioxidant potential and the ethyl acetate partitionate showed the highest antioxidant activity at 142.28 mg of GAE/gm of extractives among all. In the DPPH assay, the antioxidant potential was measured compared against BHT, all fractions showed better activity than the BHT and the highest IC50 value was 51.06 μg/mL of dichloromethane partitionate. In thrombolytic activity, streptokinase was the positive control, and water was the negative control. The highest thrombolytic activity was found in petroleum ether partition and methanolic extract and the IC50 value were 47% and 30.65%, respectively. Whereas the IC50 value of streptokinase and water was 64.22% and 15.48% respectively. Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Journal 26(1): 73-78, 2023 (January)

General Medicine - Abstract
This study describes a straightforward protocol for synthesizing cupric oxide nanoparticles from the peel extract of Spondias mombin. The CuO NPs were produced in a basic H2O solution as cubic-shaped, homogenous nanoparticles with excellent peroxidase activity without taking any special precautions. The influence of the concentration of the peel extract, temperature as well as the synthesis medium on CuO NPs production has been investigated extensively. The typical UV-visible absorption maxima observed at wavelengths of 279 and 383 nm observed in spectrophotometry confirmed the formation of CuO NPs. Moreover, the homogeneity, shape (cubic), and size (approximately averaged ⁓31nm (29nm⁓38nm)) of the synthesized CuO nanoparticles under optimum conditions were confirmed through the SEM technique. Besides, its elemental compositions, capping agent, and crystallinity were investigated through EDS, FT-IR and XRD. Finally, in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), the as-prepared CuO NPs demonstrated excellent peroxidase activity against 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). J. Bangladesh Acad. 40. BEHAVIOR OF MAT FOUNDATION FOR A TEN-STORY BUILDING: FIXED BASE VS THREE-DIMENSIONAL SOIL MODEL

- Abstract
Soil is an anisotropic, heterogeneous, and inelastic complex material. It is difficult to represent the exact behavior of soil by numerical modelling in practice. Conventionally, soil is simplified to an idealized model where it is considered isotropic, homogeneous, and behaves elastically under loads. The idealization, in this case, is done using the proper elastic modulus, Poisson’s ratio, and unit weight of soil depending upon the soil type. Although the exact soil behavior is simplified, using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) a more effective result can be obtained. A superstructure was modelled using ETABS using a fixed-base system and the base reaction forces were obtained. A mat and a soil element on which the mat was laid were modelled as a flexible-base system in Midas GTS NX. The base reactions obtained from ETABS were applied to the mat in the soil model to determine the settlements and, consequently, the spring stiffness. The superstructure was then modelled again, incorporating springs under the respective columns. Convergence in settlement, and base reactions were reached by iteration, and the final results from the flexible-base system were then compared with the fixedbase system. The center column settled the most, about 60 mm, and there was a decrease in settlement by 15% between the first model and the final iterated model. The base reaction for center columns decreased by 24% in the flexible base system compared to the fixed base system. However, an increase in base reaction was observed for both side and edge columns. There was an extremely erratic change in grade beams under a flexible base system, which shows that the superstructure elements are also affected by the change in the base system. It is recommended to use this approach, for the analysis of structures considering flexible base systems instead of fixed bases because it enhances the accuracy of analysis with feasible time consumption and less complex effort.

The classical formulation of the transmission switching problem as a mixed-integer problem is intractable for large systems in real-time control settings. Several heuristics have been proposed in the past to speed up the computation time, which only limits the number of switchable lines. In this paper, a real-time switching heuristic based on neural networks that provides almost instantaneous switching actions, are presented. The findings are shown on case studies of the IEEE 118-bus test system, and the results show that the proposed heuristic is robust to out of distribution data. Additionally, the proposed heuristic has significant computational savings while all other performance metrics like accuracy are similar to state-of-the-art machine learning methods proposed for transmission switching.

This investigation aims to find the effect of smartphones on the quality of education of School level students as smartphones have become available to them after Covid-19 to ensure e-learning. A mixed method of qualitative & Quantitative analysis was utilised to determine the impact of the smartphone. Random sampling was undertaken among 100 school-level students from four selected schools of Raninagar Upazila in Naogaon District for a questionnaire. An FGD was also made with those schools' teachers to analyse the impact on quality education. This study shows that about 65 percent of high school students got a smartphone after the Covid-19 period. Even though smartphones are beneficial for online classes and preparing study materials, adolescents are becoming reliant on them for unneeded communication. Spending extra time on smartphones hampers their way of achieving quality education. As we cannot ignore the necessity of smartphones in the e-learning process, we can allow smartphones to them but with some restrictions. The use of smartphones can be restricted at night, and morning time can be allocated to get the maximum benefit within a shorter period. Also, keeping a smartphone during class time should be strongly prohibited.

The rate of exposure to X-ray radiation on the radiation shielding wall at the Laboratory 3 of Radiology Study Program Purwokerto Diploma Three Program has been analyzed, to find out the difference in the effectiveness of the radiation shielding wall between a 10 cm thick Lead (2 mm) coated partition and a 28 cm thick stucco brick wall. Measurements were made using a radiation source, namely a mobile unit X-ray machine with a Fluke survey meter radiation measuring instrument. Measurement of the rate of exposure to X-ray radiation is carried out by adjusting the distance of the radiation source with the radiation shield wall from 100 cm, 150 cm and 200 cm and taken from 5 measurement points that represent the radiation shield wall. The measurement results show that measurement point C produces the highest radiation exposure rate and measurement point A produces the lowest radiation exposure rate for Do and D. There is a radiation exposure rate of more than 1 μSv/Hr after passing through a 10 cm thick Lead-coated partition wall (2 mm) at a distance of 100 cm to 150 cm. Radiation shielding walls of walls covered with stucco bricks with a thickness of 28 cm were more effective than partitions covered with lead (2 mm) with a thickness of 10 cm. It is necessary to pay attention to aspects of radiation protection, the use of a mobile unit X-ray machine in placing the X-ray tube in the direction of the X-ray tube and, the radiation source distance of at least 2 meters from the lead-coated partition radiation wall.

- Abstract
Purpose: This paper analyzes the impacts of COVID-19 shocks on an emerging market economy using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) model. Methods: Event study analysis has been adopted using secondary data for measuring the impacts and impulse responses of different shocks. Results: The paper shows how the shocks affect the economy using graphical presentations of impulse responses of major macroeconomic indicators. The shapes and movements of the impulse response curves indicate how the effects pass through from one sector to another; how long the effects may persist in the economy, and how much time will be required for recovery. All these simulations suggest that immediate supportive measures from both fiscal and monetary sides help recover the economy, although marginally due to the required higher costs stemming mainly from the higher exchange rate volatility. Implications: Several policy implications such as sector-specific support measures, prioritization of sectors, rationing of credit facilities, efficient exchange rate management, etc., can be followed by the countries regarding fiscal and monetary policy measures towards reducing COVID-19-induced similar shocks.
