Shanghai has been experiencing the Omicron wave since March 2022. Though several studies have evaluated the risk factors of severe infections, the analyses of BA.2 infection risk and protective factors among geriatric people were much limited. This multicentre cohort study described clinical characteristics, and assessed risk and protective factors for geriatric Omicron severe infections. A total of 1377 patients older than 60 were enrolled, with 75.96% having comorbidities. The median viral shedding time and hospitalization time were nine and eight days, respectively. Severe and critical were associated with longer virus clearance time (aOR [95%CI]:0.706 (0.533–0.935), P = .015), while fully vaccinated/booster and paxlovid use shortened viral shedding time (1.229 [1.076–1.402], P = .002; 1.140 [0.019–1.274], P = .022, respectively). Older age (>80), cerebrovascular disease, and chronic kidney disease were risk factors of severe/critical. Fully vaccination was a significant protective factor against severe infections (0.237 [0.071–0.793], P = .019). We found patients with more than two comorbidities were more likely to get serious outcomes. These findings demonstrated that in the elderly older than 60 years old, older age (aged over 80), cerebrovascular disease, and chronic kidney disease were risk factors for severe infection. Patients with more than two comorbidities were more likely to get serious outcomes. Fully vaccinated/booster patients were less likely to be severe and vaccinations could shorten viral shedding time. The limitation of lacking an overall spectrum of COVID-19 infections among elders could be compensated in other larger-scale studies in the future.

Long COVID hinders people from normal life and work, posing significant medical and economic challenges. Nevertheless, comprehensive studies assessing its impact on large populations in Asia are still lacking. We tracked over 20,000 patients infected with COVID-19 for the first time during the Omicron BA.2 outbreak in Shanghai from March-June 2022 for one year. Of the 21,799 COVID-19 patients who participated in the 6-month telephone follow-up, 1939 (8.89%) had self-reported long COVID symptoms. 450 long COVID patients participated in the 6-month outpatient follow-up. Participants underwent healthy physical examinations and questionnaires focused on long-COVID-related symptoms and mental health. Mobility problem (P < 0.001), personal care problem (P = 0.003), usual activity problem (P < 0.001), pain/discomfort (P < 0.001), anxiety/depression (P = 0.001) and PTSD (P = 0.001) were more prevalent in long COVID patients than in healthy individuals, but no significant differences were found between the two groups on chest CT and laboratory examinations. Of the 856 long COVID patients who participated in the 12-month follow-up, 587 (68.5%) had their symptoms resolved. In the multivariable logistic analysis, females (P < 0.001), youth (age P < 0.001), ≥ 2 comorbidities (P = 0.009), and severe infection in the acute phase (P = 0.006) were risk factors for developing long COVID. Middle age (40–60 years) was a risk factor for persistent long COVID one year after hospital discharge (P = 0.013). The study found that long COVID mainly manifested as subjective symptoms and impacts partial patients’ quality of life and mental status. After one year, most (68.5%) of the patients recovered from long COVID with no impairment of organ function observed.

Evodiae fructus (Wu-Zhu-Yu in Chinese) can be isolated from the dried, unripe fruits of Tetradium ruticarpum and is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine that is applied extensively in China, Japan and Korea. Evodiae fructus has been traditionally used to treat headaches, abdominal pain and menorrhalgia. In addition, it is widely used as a dietary supplement to provide carboxylic acids, essential oils and flavonoids. Evodiamine (EVO) is one of the major bioactive components contained within Evodiae fructus and is considered to be a potential candidate anti-cancer agent. EVO has been reported to exert anti-cancer effects by inhibiting cell proliferation, invasion and metastasis, whilst inducing apoptosis in numerous types of cancer cells. However, EVO is susceptible to metabolism and may inhibit the activities of metabolizing enzymes, such as cytochrome P450. Clinical application of EVO in the treatment of cancers may prove difficult due to poor bioavailability and potential toxicity due to metabolism. Currently, novel drug carriers involving the use of solid dispersion techniques, phospholipids and nanocomplexes to deliver EVO to improve its bioavailability and mitigate side effects have been tested. The present review aims to summarize the reported anti-cancer effects of EVO whilst discussing the pharmacokinetic behaviors, characteristics and effective delivery systems of EVO.

According to construction scheme to intelligentize the substation primary equipment, a new evaluation method to intelligent transformation of substation primary equipment was presented in this paper. The improvement status of primary equipment in different voltage level substations was widely investigated in East China and Central China. According to the status, a multi-objective optimization evaluation model was established at first. Then, TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution, TOPSIS) method was introduced in this paper. And lastly, the new method was applied to a practical example that conducted comprehensive evaluation of regional substations primary equipment. In order to validate the method's accuracy, the results were compared with traditional evaluation method-analytic hierarchy process. The contrast illustrated that the primary equipment intelligent evaluation method in this paper have lower amount of calculation and subjective factors, higher degree of distinction and extensibility, which can provide practical guidance to the building of Smart Grid and digital substation.

The intelligent evaluation of substation primary equipment is an important problem in the construction of smart grid. Based on the actual project data, the following work has been done in this paper: The evaluation model of intelligent level of primary equipment in substation is established; the concept of correlation coefficient is put forward by combining AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and entropy weight method, and according to their correlation, a comprehensive weight calculation method is proposed, which is used to calculate the weight of each evaluation index; the traditional TOPSIS is improved, and the possible inverse sorting problem after changing the number of evaluation targets is solved; finally, a practical example is given to verify the rationality and accuracy of the evaluation method, which can provide practical guidance for the intelligent transformation of substation.

It has a complicated and variable feature of fault transient traveling wave in cable and overhead line hybrid transmission line. Theoretical analysis and simulation method have been used to study the propagation characteristics of fault transient traveling wave in cable and overhead line hybrid line. The principle of single line traveling wave method for hybrid line is expounded and the influence of phase inception angle, transition resistance, fault type, fault position was studied. Then, combined traveling wave fault location precision is researched. Meanwhile, it built the relationship between transient fault current and fault distance. The above factors have a significant impact on transient voltage and current wave. But they have no effect on the time required to reach the first wave of the traveling wave. The combined travelling wave fault location method has good accuracy for overhead line-cable hybrid transmission line.
