- Abstract
Antiquariat collections for taxonomic researchers are very vital collections because they are used to compare species found in the field. To fulfill this, the LIPI Scientific Data and Documentation Center conducted a survey on the use of antiquariat collections by researchers in the Cibinong area library, Purwodadi area library, Bogor-Cibodas area library, Ambon area library and Jakarta area library. The survey aims to (1) determine the utilization of antiquariat collections available in the library; (2) knowing the management of the types of antiquariat collections available in the library; (3) know the procedures for storing antiquariat collections. The survey was conducted on April 27 to May 31, 2021 using the google form. The survey results state that researchers need antiquariat collections as a source of reference and a source of knowledge in conducting research. The researcher supports the transfer of antiquariat collection media in digital form. The special room for the storage of antiquariat collections has not met the requirements, causing the collections to be easily fragile and damaged. The high intensity of use is one of the factors causing damage to the collection. Media transfer on antiquariat collections needs to be done immediately to prevent damage and facilitate its use by researchers. Based on the facts in the field and the results of the survey, it is recommended to prepare a special storage room for antiquariat collections, immediately carry out the transfer of antiquariat collection media, and procure collections or collaborate on the use of antiquariat collections.

This study aims to determine the process of procurement of library materials at the Regional Library and Archives Service of Muaro Jambi Regency. The research method used is library research methodologically classified as qualitative research with a descriptive approach in the form of a case study which aims to explain the procurement of library materials at the Regional Library and Archives Service of Muaro Jambi Regency. Data collection techniques used were through observation and interviews. The findings of the study are (1) the Regional Library and Archives Office of Muaro Jambi Regency has carried out library material procurement activities through purchases from book agents, bookstores, gifts, entrances and through assistance once a year. (2) The Regional Library and Archives Office of Muaro Jambi Regency has never procured serial publications, as well as non-book materials (recorded works) because according to them library materials are rarely needed by users. (3) The procurement of library funds for library materials is not running properly as seen from the constraints that occur, namely the lack of spending funds for the procurement of library materials both from series published library materials and recorded library materials, as well as the lack of attention from leaders leading to the procurement of library materials so that the available collections incomplete, not up to date and not used by the user. From these findings, it is hoped that the Regional Library and Archives Office of Muaro Jambi Regency will continue to procure collections of serial publications and recorded works because these collections can increase the number of collections available, create public interest in reading and add to the repertoire of library collections. Furthermore, the Regional Library and Archives Service of Muaro Jambi Regency should process funds properly by paying attention to user needs so that library materials purchased are in accordance with user education. Then also the head of the library must pay more attention that leads to the procurement of library materials so that the available collections can be more up to date, complete, and can be used by users. anti-Jewish Stereotypes ,Jewish history in Sweden ,Medieval manuscripts ,Articles ,Middle Ages - Abstract
The lack of a local Jewish community did not prevent medieval Swedish clerics and lay people from being interested in Jews and Jewish questions. They bought, translated, read and preached from most of the available textual sources and thus spread the widely available views of the hermeneutical Jew: a cruel, stubborn and ugly person and at the same time a cipher for the entire Jewish people both in biblical times and today. This article gives an overview of the Latin and vernacular manuscripts with anti-Jewish motifs and texts and shows that the main and most common textual models and motifs were available in Swedish libraries and collections, from legends via apocryphal texts to fake disputations – adding up to a relatively complete ‘hermeneutical Jew’. A focus was, as in the rest of Europe, on Passion-related piety, which was the most common form of piety in the late Middle Ages – and usually connected with distinct anti-Jewish features. The fact that we can establish direct and indirect textual and narrative lines of tradition between the medieval codices and modern printed booklets of the nineteenth century proves the long-lasting intelligibility of anti-Jewish stereotypes in Sweden – developed and spread completely independently from the Jewish minority. The medieval perspective thus adds a much-needed nuance to the debate about antisemitism in the North: it did not need any actual Jews; it simply made up its own, based on the general Christian tradition.

Indonesia has a natural tourist attraction in the form of 54 national parks spread across regencies and cities, with an area of 16,304,707.13 hectares, featuring a diversity of ecosystems, high mountains, lowlands, savannahs to wetlands, and waters. However, the appeal of natural tourism does not necessarily contribute to the performance of national tourism, hence studies need to support of increase in tourist arrivals to national parks, one of which is to study tourism competitiveness in areas that have national parks in Indonesia. This research aims to develop a model of tourism competitiveness management in areas that have national parks in Indonesia. The theory underlying this research is the theory of tourism competitiveness through the approach of the competitiveness index of the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index, Indicators for Measuring Competitiveness in Tourism, and Competitiveness Monitor. The research design uses 20 competitiveness factors, where data collection techniques utilize data that has been available at both government and non-government institutions and the data collection method uses library research. The data were analysed by using the dynamic model method. The results of the study found that tourist arrivals significantly correlated simultaneously with the factor of tourism competitiveness of the districts and cities that have national parks, tourist arrival, revenue tourism, and conservation in zona utility of national park in Indonesia. It is proposed that local governments, national parks management and other interested parties make policy innovations to optimize the factors of tourism competitiveness in their regions to support or increase in the number of tourist visits in national parks.

General Engineering - Abstract
Thesis/Objective – The main aim of the article was to present the re- sults of the analysis of the content of posts made available by eighteen Polish uni- versity libraries in the period immediately preceding and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Research methods – The mixed methods study involved the use of qualitative and quantitative approaches, with a commercial online tool the Karma Fanpage service for social media analytics monitoring being used to collect data from individual fanpages. In order to determine the subject matter of the posts, the author of the article used ten codes, to which he assigned each post. Results/ Conclusions – The study showed that all Polish university libraries (part of pub- lic universities) used Facebook as part of their daily activities, both before and during the pandemic. This included using if for marketing purposes, such as, promoting events they organized, and library offerings. In the period before the pandemic, the most frequent posts were related to various scientific, educational, and popularizing events. Most of events took place at the library building. The pandemic and the necessary precautions it provoked, made the remote services of libraries one of the key elements in their daily functioning. The greatest number of posts in the analyzed periods concerned library collections and services, main- ly those available online.

Purpose The purpose this study was to determine currency of print health materials readily available in North Carolina public libraries, through a statewide assessment. Two subject areas were examined: health reference and diabetes. Design/methodology/approach In total, 30 randomly selected public libraries were visited and unobtrusive stacks assessments were completed. Some months later, the libraries’ websites were examined for collection development policies, and online catalogs were searched using the keyword diabetes to identify possible discrepancies and additions. Findings For visits, publication dates for reference books ranged from 1899-2014 and the average number of holdings was 10 (range 0-30). The most common reference item, the AMA Family Medical Guide (2005), was available in 6 of 30 libraries. In diabetes collections, publication dates ranged from 1983-2013; the average number of books was nine (range 0-26). The Atkins Diabetes Revolution (2004) was the most common, available in 9 of 30 libraries. Two-thirds of libraries did not have a collection development policy online. Catalog searches revealed 10 titles prior to 1983 and 18 titles (non-cook books) from 2014-2016. Practical implications The study found overall that print health reference books were outdated. In diabetes collections, there were also many outdated items. It appears that regular weeding to assure currency of print health literature is not taking place. Originality/value The study demonstrates that public libraries may not be providing optimal print health information. With unprecedented access, it is imperative that librarians in all types of settings aid in health literacy promotion by assuring access to reliable and timely health information.

The National Center for Children’s Literature (CNLJ) keeps an important collection of the Japanese publisher Fukuinkan shoten, which celebrates in 2022 its 70 years anniversary. This collection was initially acquired from la Joie par les livres and the publisher himself regularly sends some of its collections to the National Library of France. Often compared to L’école des loisirs in France, Fukuinkan shoten is a major publisher in Japan that contributed greatly to the development of children’s literature in the archipelago but also to the recognition of Japanese children’s literature in the world. This article aims to present the publisher and some collections available at the National Library of France and to define some directions for further research.

General Medicine - Abstract
The article considers the system of information support of Russian scientific research in the field of natural sciences process. It’s gradual creating and development based on the creation of hybrid scientific library, using both the local (located directly in the library) traditional collection, and collections of electronic full-text media available remotely to the library patron and being a virtual part of the whole library collection. The article deals with the use of scientific journals (mainly foreign) as the most important part of the scientific resources required by Russian scientists’ access. The analysis is based on the Library for Natural Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (one of the leading scientific libraries in Russia) example. The mentioned process started in the last centuries 1990s, and, as shown in the article, passes through several stages. From the very beginning, the process required for the libraries to unite into associations for the electronic resources joint use. These associations took, in accordance with international experience, the form of library consortia. At the first stage, consortia were created to bring together several libraries to access the electronic resources of a single foreign library. This system turned out to be viable, but rather cumbersome for a library (for effective work a library has to be a member of several consortia, which turned out to be non-technological). At the next stage, a single consortium was created with the support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research — Scientific Electronic Library RFBR. Further development required the direct state on the one of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science projects basis support. This process went through several development stages (using as a project operator consortium NEICON, the RNPLS&T and again RFBR — at another level of organization and funding). As a result, by 2020 the providing mainly information support for the work of the main mass of scientific and educational institutions in the specified field system was created and debugged on the practical level. By the early 2020s, the work had entered a more or less stable working mode. The issues requiring an urgent solution are the lack of an insurance copy of resources purchased abroad, which creates an uncertain situation in the event of the relationship with the resource owner termination, and the absence, in full, of a similar access to Russian scientific resources system, if their publication rights, in part, have been transferred to foreign publishers.

- Abstract
LPP Yogyakarta Polytechnic Library is a facility provided as a learning resource. The number of collections available in the library makes it easier for students to access various knowledge. On the other hand, the available books come from donations, so there is still a lack of control over the availability of certain books. For example, books that are given by contributors are related to engineering sciences, while those that are sought after are books on plantation science. Based on these problems, in order to optimize the availability of books, it is necessary to analyze so that the ratio of availability and the number of enthusiasts is appropriate. One alternative is to implement data mining using the K-Means Clustering method to help library managers analyze by grouping books from the number of borrowed and the number of available copies so that they can be used to support the decision whether to reproduce books with related titles or not. The data used in this study is the history of borrowing books from the Yogyakarta LPP Polytechnic Library for approximately 2 years. The final result of the research in the form of book data is the most in demand, quite in demand, and the least in demand.

- Abstract
Women's Studies Archive: Rare Titles from the American Antiquarian Society, 1820‐1922 provides literature by female authors on the American woman's experience in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It is the third database in Gale's Women's Studies Archive, which is only one of a number of Gale Primary Sources collections. It contains more than one million pages of works from the American Antiquarian Society, all authored or edited by women. The works available here are drawn from the American Antiquarian Society's library collections and cover a wide variety of nonfiction subjects and fiction genres. This database is relatively easy to navigate, though the numerous available search and browse functions may prove confusing to some. Despite this relatively minor complication, this resource offers a broad and varied range of materials from female authors in the time period indicated above. This is not a subscription database; instead, it must be purchased. The price, based on full-time enrollment (FTE), can range from $22,080 to $27,600. The licensing agreement for this database is too long, overly detailed, and sometimes repetitive, but in most ways is average in its composition.

- Abstract
Homeless population and the right of access to health services Abstract: The process of social exclusion is directly reflected in the access to public policies. Although there are legal advances in the delimitation of the rights of vulnerable populations, violations of guarantees and basic citizenship rights are recurrent and directly interfere with access to public policies, especially in relation to health services. The present article has the objective centered on the analytical investigation of the rights of access to health services by homeless populations, in Brazil, built from a critical reading of the National Policy for the Homeless Population (PNPSR) and investigations related to the theme, available in the electronic collection of the Virtual Health Library (VHL), in the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), BDENF-Nursing and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE). Publications and documents from the electronic domain of the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights were also used. Although the national policy represents an important exponent of the legal achievements of this group, the rights provided for the homeless population are not guaranteed in an inclusive and integral way in all states and municipalities, with greater emphasis on the fragility in the adhesion to the System. Single Health. In this context, readjustments in health service offerings, such as the active search in the streets, readjustment of the flow of access and care in primary health care services, are fundamental for the expansion of care. - Abstract
The development of information technology in the field of education, especially in the Non-formal education unit of Palangka Raya City Learning Activities Center, requires a library information system. This library information system can increase the effectiveness and flexibility in collecting books, collecting members, and borrowing and returning books because, in the Non-formal education unit of the Palangka Raya City Learning Activities Center, things are still conventional, namely, the process of collecting books, collecting member data, and carrying out loan and return transactions is only carried out by writing on books. School libraries have a very influential role in the achievement of national education. The waterfall development method was used in the design of this information system. Where the waterfall method has six phases, namely requirement definition, system and software design, implementation and unit testing, integration and system testing, and operation and maintenance, The results achieved are the availability of information systems supporting the processes of book data collection, member data collection, and book lending transactions. The existence of this web-based library information system is intended to assist librarians in managing book data, member data, and book loan and return transaction data, and this information system is also expected to facilitate students in searching for book collections available in the library.

The Kansai University Open Research Center for Asian Studies (KU-ORCAS) has opened the Kansai University Digital Archive to the public under the project concept of "making research resources open". The materials to be made available to the public are materials from the Kansai University General Library and the personal collections of faculty members involved in East Asian cultural studies whose original copyright protection period has expired. The first is that the digital archives are open to the public in accordance with IIIF, an international framework for image sharing, and IIF-compliant viewers allow users to use IIF-compliant materials not only from KU-ORCAS but also from other institutions. Secondly, the bibliographic information and image data are freely available. The second is that the bibliographic information and image data can be freely used without permission from KU-ORCAS, as long as they do not violate KU-ORCAS's regulations on secondary use, since they are released under Creative Commons License 0 (CC0). As a PD researcher, We have been involved in the digitization of KU-ORCAS digital archives, and this paper will focus on the digitization work at KU-ORCAS.

- Abstract
Libraries have always tried to adapt to changing social needs, the development of the sciences, and the emergence of new technological solutions. Consider, for example, the invention of book printing or the mass distribution of printed products and the resulting current bibliographies or even to the gradually emerging reference service. Undoubtedly, the next major stage in the development of library science will be induced by the spread of computer science and informatics. More and more areas of life are digitizing and people are increasingly relying on electronic sources to obtain information thus, the use of digital remotely accessible services has become commonplace. All of this involves a transformation in people’s expectations of the library, and libraries are trying to keep up with emerging needs. More and more libraries offer thematic collections that are available electronically so eventually the digital, remote access use of services become daily. They also enable electronic document lending, online events, e-learning courses and other services that have recently been integrated into the library’s service offering. In my research, I would like to explore how the Hungarian, European and US librarian profession has reacted to the fundamental transformation of the societal demands placed on libraries in the last two decades whether their electronic services have been able to respond appropriately to new societal needs and are still able to meet the role set out in the 1994 IFLA and UNESCO Manifesto on Public Libraries. The aim of my research is to review the transformation of the library service offer over the last two decades, to compare the development direction of Hungarian libraries with international (European and US) trends, and to use new statistics, research results and needs assessments bypass as well as the extent to which libraries have been able to adapt to significantly changed user needs and whether their newly developed services are in line with them., Bobcatsss, Bobcatsss 2021: Digital Transformation

This poster was given by Alwaleed K. Alkhaja, Qatar National Library Open licensing is critical for GLAMs, as it promotes access to and reuse of cultural and educational materials for the public. Open licenses, such as Creative Commons, allow for sharing, remixing, and commercial use of content within specified conditions. In the context of GLAMs, open licensing can enhance diplomacy by enabling cultural exchange and fostering a sense of shared cultural heritage. Locally, open licensing can foster cultural exchange and support the growth of creative industries, encouraging the use of cultural collections in creating new works and promoting cultural diversity. Internationally, open licensing can facilitate cross-border collaboration, the sharing of cultural resources, and the repatriation of cultural heritage. Moreover, archives and libraries can make their collections available under open licenses, allowing researchers and educators in other countries to access and use them in their work. This type of collaboration helps to promote cultural understanding and supports a shared global cultural heritage. In this presentation, we will examine the benefits of open licensing in GLAMs and discuss best practices for GLAMs in adopting open licensing, such as using Creative Commons licenses and developing open access policies. We will be presenting about Qatar National Library’s efforts in opening its collections, from international partnerships to licensing practices, and supporting open access publishing of Qatar’s research outputs. This presentation will also highlight some of the barriers faced by GLAMS on a global scale, from copyright limitations, cost of digitization, and balancing commercial interests with open access to cultural heritage.

The article assessed usage of Electronic books in Delta State University, Abraka and Novena University, Ogume, Nigeria. Undergraduate students were randomly selected for the study. The population of the study was 253 300 and 400 level students of the institutions studied. The instrument employed for data collection was the questionnaire. The 253 students were administered the research tool but 231 of them were retrieved and used for the investigation. The collected data were examined using the frequency count and percentage. The study concluded that the respondents use the e-books to a very high extent; in terms of frequency of usage, the study concluded that on the average, utilization of e-books by the students was weekly; the greatest challenges to e-book provision and usage were insufficient e-books in the library and power supply in that order. Therefore, aggressive e-book collection development is here suggested. Academic Libraries should make e-books readily available and easily reached so as to encourage more, the use of the resources., {"references":["Yaya, J.A. (2016). - Abstract
The Nicaraguan poet, journalist, and diplomat Rubén Darío was one of the foremost writers of the modernist movement in Latin America at the turn of the 20th century. In his writing, Darío struggled with the historicity of Spanish and the weight of colonialism. Throughout his career, his work explored the changes in language, religion, love, and sexuality in the postcolonial era. A collection of Darío’s manuscripts and transcripts of Darío’s poetry and correspondence with other journalists, diplomats, poets, and romantic partners is available at the Arizona State University Library. This collection contains unique correspondence with important persons who were modernists and politicians, such as Emilio de Arriaga, Pedro Balmaceda Toro, Ernesto Bermúdez, Luis Bonafoux, Francisco Castro, Benigno Díez Salcedo, Rodolfo Espinosa, Fermín Estrella, Vicente Gasset, Crisanto Medina, and Amado Nervo. The archive was collected by Darío’s secretary, Alejandro Bermúdez. These papers may be seen online or in person at the Hayden Library.

The article introduces the history of the formation of the Japanese collection in the National Library of Russia. Materials in Japanese are available in various departments of the library; the article focuses on the largest collection of materials in Japanese, namely the Japanese collection of the Department of Asian and African Countries Literature (DAAСL). An attempt is made to briefly present two topics: firstly, the history of the Japanese collection and the department, and secondly, the history and sources of the acquisition and formation of the Japanese fund. Therefore, the article is divided into two sections. In both sections, the history of the DAAСL and the topic of international book exchange in the library are closely interconnected with the main topic of the article, the formation of the Japanese collection. The author also emphasizes the difficulties, negative factors and challenges faced by the fund and the library, not to underestimate the role of the Japanese collection of NLR, but to show what solutions were found throughout its history.

Mobile learning is growing in popularity as use of mobile devices by students worldwide increases. At the same time the number of digital information resources such as digital collections in libraries available online has also increased. Digital collections in libraries are valuable and proven resource of information in education. As students use mobile devices more frequently it is expected that use of digital information resources including digital collections in education will also increase. To achieve this goal user interfaces of digital collections must be developed in such a manner to be easily used, especially on mobile devices. This paper presents results of the research of elements of user interfaces of digital collections in libraries in Croatia available on the Web to establish the level of their mobile usability and accessibility as a prerequisite for their potential use in the learning process. To fulfill that potential, digital collections have to support different screen sizes on mobile devices and be accessible on new and old mobile devices, offer assortment of common functions to user etc. The results of this research will help librarians in planning further development of digital collections and educators in planning use of digital collections in their curricula.

JA. Acquisitions - Abstract
Resource sharing is a common practice for many libraries around the world; for example, in cataloging, in systems sharing and in the exchange and donation of items. Material exchange (books, journals, maps etc.) is a co-operative method between geographically adjacent libraries owning thematically irrelevant material or material available in multiple copies that can be donated to other libraries. This way, libraries with smaller collections and fewer resources can acquire material for free. The National Library of Greece (NLG), in order to promote the proportional distribution of items between members of the National Library Network (NLN), designed, developed, and put the “Exchanges and Donations Service” in a pilot operation, so as to support Greek libraries enrich their collections. At the same time, the goal is to cultivate a spirit of sharing between NLN libraries and strengthen their cooperation. NLG, among other libraries, will constantly supply the National Exchange Service with thousands of new titles from the Legal Deposit, ensuring that libraries collections will be enriched equally. All Greek public libraries that participate in the service will be able to provide and receive items for free. The current work will present the Exchange Service, which resulted from the cooperation of NLG, the Libraries and Information Centers of Panteion University and Harokopio University of Athens and the Library of the Eugenides Foundation. The history of the cooperation that led to the development of the Exchange Service, its purpose and objectives will also be described. Finally, the operating policy of the service and the re-quirements of participation will be addressed.

Copies of Dalāʾil al-Khayrāt (Proofs of Good Deeds) by the Moroccan Sufi saint Muḥammad b. Sulaymān al-Jazūlī (d. 870/1465) were in high demand in the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Ottoman Empire. This required producing manuscripts in large numbers and, later, printing the text. These mostly lithographic copies and corpora of the Dalāʾil al-Khayrāt, when combined with references to biographical dictionaries, inheritance records, inventories, library catalogues, and endowment deeds, reveal a great deal of information about the public and private prevalence of the text, within and beyond the empire. The Dalāʾil al-Khayrāt appealed to many individuals, from Ottoman sultans to royal women, and from madrasa students to members of the learned class. Its copies were endowed to mosques and libraries, held in different book collections of the Topkapi palace, and were available from booksellers. Be it silently or aloud, the Dalāʾil al-Khayrāt could be read in private homes and in mosques from Istanbul to Medina, a feature of pious soundscapes across the empire.

Objective: Purpose of this study is to review the definitional framework of rare books and to study the historical evolution of special collections in the world and in Iran. Methodology: Descriptive method with inductive approach has been used. First, it reviewed the existing definitions of rare books and their shortcomings to finally reach a comprehensive definition; then the historical course of special collections in the world was analyzed and the history and libraries with special collections in Iran were reviewed. The sources used in this research have been collected using documentary and library methods. Findings: Rare books have a definition beyond the old books and the process of transferring information in them does not only include content data. In the second part, four stages were achieved regarding the evolution of special collections in the world (Identification and segregation of rare books; The evolution of rare books in academic libraries; The evolution of rare books and special collections with the opening of these sections in university libraries; Forming a professional organization (ACRL) to meet educational and communication needs), as well as the differences in approaches to special collections in different societies and cultures and the differences between blacks and whites due to differences of concern throughout history.According to experts, in terms of historical position by global definition, we are now in the fourth stage. By reviewing special collections in Iran, the first library with special collections was the library of Vank Church in Isfahan, and in total, 21 libraries with special collections were found in Iran. Conclusion: Contrary to popular belief, the definition of the term "rare book", which is an important resource in special collections, can vary based on the missions and goals of libraries and their overall strategies, and in general, may not be outside the strategic framework of libraries. Books can be considered potentially scarce and the basis for identifying rare books is largely dependent on the mission of the collections and cannot be evaluated independently. Also, the history of special collections in Iran, unlike the world, does not have a clear course. The stages of its evolution are not clearly defined and the information available in this regard is related to the libraries that have these collections, and the initial purposes of their formation have been largely distorted. This issue will require serious attention to the field of research, and the elimination of existing shortcomings by researchers with different orientations.

Library ,theology ,UCLouvain ,Bibliothèque de théologie - Abstract
In 1968, the decision was made to develop the University of Louvain into two linguistic sections: ‘Katholieke Universiteit Leuven’ (KULeuven today), Dutch-speaking, which remained in Leuven, and the ‘Université catholique de Louvain’ (UCLouvain today), French-speaking, which was transferred to Ottignies (1972–1979). In parallel, reflections carried out on the evolution of the University in the wake of May 1968 led authorities from both new universities to favour a decentralised model of faculty libraries, in order to guaranty greater user proximity. After a brief historical introduction, we present the powerful tool now available to all potential users: the formation and state of the current collections, the organisation of the library, the digitalisation of its catalogue, and other services offered on the heuristic and teaching level. We conclude with an evocation of partnerships and prospects.

Modern architects operate with at least three fundamental notions: space, time, and movement. In the case of the walkways, the challenge is also to solve the problems of walkability in specific topographic constraints of the city. Based on documents available in the library collection of the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo, this study analyzed the urban walkways designed by Vilanova Artigas in the 1970s for the city of São Paulo and the region known as ABC Paulista. The value of these walkways in Artigas’ work lies not only in the designed and constructed object, but also in his theoretical thought about circulation, connection, city, people, and architecture. A table was created with the drawings of the walkways and their main circulation elements. This study contributes to the appreciation of our architectural and modern urban heritage.

Introduction. The use of digital technologies for the preservation of cultural heritage and the dissemination of culture in society is a trend that is recognized throughout the world. Digitization allows significant library collections to be revealed and made available to the public. Problem Statement. Libraries and other institutions are forced to comply with the law on copyright and related rights, and therefore do not have the opportunity to freely dispose of documents from their own holdings for use for the needs of society. Purpose. Identification of priority directions for solving this issue in Ukraine, in order to provide libraries with legal grounds to digitize documents of the 20th century subject to copyright, out-of-commerce works and orphan works. Materials and Methods. During the research, we used information and data obtained during the processing of scientific papers on this issue; analysis of international documents, legal acts of the European Union, national legislation of the EU Member States and Ukraine; study of the practical experience of world libraries in digitizing these groups of documents. Comparative and systematic approaches, source analysis, and other general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, generalization) were used in the process of research. Results. The research has given grounds to determine the priority directions for solving the problem of digitization of documents by libraries in Ukraine. The main directions include: 1) the introduction of exceptions to copyright law which libraries and other institutions could use to digitize documents of historical and cultural significance by the state; 2) the creation of national orphan works and out-of-commerce works registers; 3)the active use of modern technical means of document protection by libraries in organizing various modes of user access to documents. Conclusions. The study has confirmed the need for a systematic solution to the problem of digitizing copyright documents and orphan works. Providing legal grounds to digitize documents will not only reveal valuable collections from library holdings but also lead to the cultural and economic well-being of the country in the future.,

This study investigated the level of undergraduates’ satisfaction and their perceptions towards library resources and services provided by the Science Library, University of Peradeniya. The survey research method was adopted to achieve the above objectives. A questionnaire was administered to 442 undergraduates of the Faculty of Science. 371 duly filled questionnaires were returned, were then analyzed. The findings revealed that more than 60% of the undergraduates visited the library daily and weekly, while more than 80% of them visited the library for multiple purposes. Regarding the available resources, the majority of the undergraduates were satisfied with the library book collection, periodicals and available magazines. Yet, only 39% and 32% of students reported that they were satisfied with e-resources and audiovisual materials available in the library respectively. Considering the library services, the majority of respondents were satisfied with lending, reference, referral and photocopying services. However, 11% of them were not satisfied, where as 13% of the students were not even aware of online services provided by the library. Further, the findings demonstrated that limited number of computers, unavailability of Wi-Fi facilities, unawareness of the library website, difficulties of accessing the Internet and searching research articles were the main reasons for students’ dissatisfaction. However, the majority of the undergraduates praised the library staff for offering an impressive service. The results proved that undergraduates have positive perceptions towards the library and its services. Based on the findings, some suggestions were made to increase user satisfaction and to enhance the library resources and service quality.

Grouping students' reading interest based on the criteria for books read, books borrowed, and also considering the number of books available can help in the process of adding to the existing book collection in the library. One way to manage this data is by using data mining by utilizing the K-Means method. Book data are grouped into 3 clusters, namely priority, consideration, and not prioritization in planning for additional book collections. The result of this research is that the cluster with the largest value in the final centroid is the recommended cluster in planning to add to the book collection.

The Drawing matter in the ludovicenses Schools Groups: initial prescriptions Abstract The text identifies the contents worked in the Drawing classes in the Schools Groups in Maranhão and seeks to answer the following question: what type of Drawing was present in the writing of the first teaching program of the School Groups of São Luís and for what purposes? The analyzed sources are available in the Digital Collection of the Benedito Leite Library and in the Maranhão Public Archive. For the analysis of the sources there was a theoretical-methodological contribution of cultural history and the history of school subjects. The documentary sources were laws, decrees and regulations of that time. The conclusions point out that, in the constitution of Ludovicenses School Groups, the teaching of Drawing was part of the 1904 teaching program in three disciplines, given the education of the senses and the development of observation, guided by the intuitive method. Keywords: Drawing. School Group. Primary school. Intuitive method. History of Mathematical Education.

Movies beyond the scope of Hollywood and entertainment have shaped notions of race in American culture since the early decades of cinema. A range of nontheatrical sponsors and creators in the US made films to serve practical functions in society—to inform, to organize, to persuade, to promote, etc. The US federal government was a major sponsor of many of these films, which provided American and foreign audiences depictions of race that differed considerably from popular commercial images. For example, Men of the Forest, a film made in 1952 by the United States Information Service focuses on the Hunters, a Black family who owns land and a forestry business in rural Georgia. A documentary of sorts, the film highlights Black life, work, and land ownership in the South in ways not seen in popular feature films of the day. Yet, in the film and others like it, histories of institutional racism are woven into cinematic form and content in ways that are distinct from the entertainment industry. The creators of Men of the Forest omit details of segregation in the South to emphasize the Hunter family as examples of American democracy, a choice suited to the film’s Cold War purpose: to counter the anti-American message of Soviet propaganda for foreign audiences. On one hand, by producing and distributing the film, the federal government acknowledged Black farmers and landowners in the Jim Crow South. On the other hand, it avoided the structural inequality surrounding the Hunters to frame their reality as an example of American democratic progress for international circulation. Today, government films like Men of the Forest prompt contemporary reflection on the institutional histories they represent and their evolution into the present. The film and many others are available online due to the digitization of collections from the National Archives, Library of Congress, and elsewhere. With this increase in access, contemporary scholars have the ability to investigate how the federal government and its various internal entities mediated racial ideologies with moving image technologies. As an example of such research, this essay examines Men of the Forest by focusing on the past and present contradictions that arise from its depiction of a Black family with land and an agricultural business in rural Georgia. Two recent events shed light on the histories reflected in the film and their contemporary significance. In 2018, Descendants of Men of the Forest, The Legacy Continues—a documentary created by family members of the film’s original participants—contextualized the original production as evidence of the Hunter family’s legacy in the community of Guyton, Georgia. Underlying this local effort, Men of the Forest serves as an important historical event and record of the family and the community. On a broader scale, in March 2021, Congress passed a large relief package for disadvantaged minority farmers, intended to help alleviate decades of systemic racism in government agricultural programs. Lawsuits from white farmers and conservative organizations followed quickly, challenging the provision of government aid based on race. In this federal context, Men of the Forest exposes an institutional image of individual success that downplays the structural racism facing people of color, especially those with agricultural livelihoods. Even as politics and legislation evolve, this vision of democracy once exported by the federal government has widespread currency and accumulating effects. The connections between Men of the Forest and these recent events reveal the racial politics at play in government films and the ways in which they take shape in the real world beyond the screen.

A recent policy development has been voluntary self-regulation of internet platforms through the establishment of online ad archives. Since 2018, concern over the potential misuse of platforms has led to calls for reform of online campaign monitoring. In response, Google, Facebook and Twitter made available repositories of political advertisements appearing on their respective platforms. The intended promise was to make the process of political advertising less of a 'black box' and render voter targeting more transparent to public review. In this paper, we consider whether the Facebook Ad Library actually improves the capability of regulators and the public to oversee online campaigns. Specifically, we analyse a corpus of ads focusing on Brexit in the lead-up to the European Parliamentary Elections in 2019, to determine whether these data are meaningful compared to reporting of offline campaign activity already required under UK Electoral Commission rules. We examine some 234 individual ad campaigns run during a 14-day period leading up to the election using data collection tools available via the Ad Library interface. A content analysis of individual ads combined with data obtained from the archive about the ad sponsor and demographic reach suggests at a coarse level of detail that micro-targeting has taken place. However, limitations of the Ad Library prevent its effectiveness as an oversight mechanism, as reporting obscures details about overall spend, reach and targeting behaviour, key issues for online political advertising. Based on these findings and the methodological challenge of interrogating the Facebook Ad Library, we reflect on the policy effectiveness of supposedly transparent ad archives as a policy tool.

In 2018, the University of Kansas (KU) Libraries upgraded from a tired, twenty-year-old basement space to a new, purpose-built conservation lab for library and archives collections. The new conservation lab, which is housed in the special collections and archives library, quadrupled available lab space for its conservators and fleet of student employees. The move afforded Conservation space in the same library as the most vulnerable collection materials. In addition, rooms in the special collections and archives library were repurposed for audiovisual (AV) preservation, creating two new spaces for film and video workflows and upgrading an existing small audio room. This paper will discuss the conservation and preservation lab construction literature and will serve as a practical exemplar of the challenges and successes of the planning process, including lessons learned and unexpected benefits.

A customer-centered organization ensures that the needs of clients are at the focal point of all services offered in the organization and that the customer gets the best customer experience throughout the service. Research has shown that service institutions are deterred from offering customer-centric services due to issues relating to organizational culture, structure, processes, and financial metrics. This study explores strategies and mechanisms to support academic libraries towards achieving customer-centric service provision. In this regard, this study identifies three parameters and explores their role in delivering customer-centeredness in academic libraries, namely, access to library services, staff responsiveness and organizational support. Findings of this study show that library customers wish for a relevant library collection, an available service, unlimited information access, spacious reading area, a conducive study environment, sufficient library equipment and supportive staff.

Background: With the mandate to review all available literature in the study’s inclusion parameters, systematic review projects are likely to require full-text access to a significant number of articles that are not available in a library’s collection, thereby necessitating ordering content via interlibrary loan (ILL). The aim of this study is to understand what effect a systematic review service has on the copyright royalty fees accompanying ILL requests at an academic health sciences library.Case Presentation: The library created a custom report using ILLiad data to look specifically at 2018 ILL borrowing requests that were known to be part of systematic reviews. This subset of borrowing activity was then analyzed to determine its impact on the library’s copyright royalty expenditures for the year. In 2018, copyright eligible borrowing requests that were known to be part of systematic reviews represented only approximately 5% of total filled requests that involved copyright eligible borrowing. However, these systematic review requests directly or indirectly caused approximately 10% of all the Spencer S. Eccles Library copyright royalty expenditures for 2018 requests. Conclusion: Based on the sample data set, the library’s copyright royalty expenditures did increase, but the overall financial impact was modest.
