One of the health problems that are often faced by the Indonesian people today is the problem of degenerative diseases. There has been a change in disease patterns in the community from infectious diseases to non-infectious diseases, this is marked by an increase in the number of sufferers from year to year. This can be seen from the 2018 regional Health Research data that the number of hypertension cases in Indonesia is 34.1%. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of salt consumption and obesity on the incidence of primary hypertension in the work area of ??Poleang Health Center, Bombana Regency. This type of research is a survey with a retrospective approach, and uses a case control study design. The number of samples as many as 110 respondents with a purposive sampling technique. Data collection using questionnaires, measurement of weight and height. Data analysis using Chi Square test. The results showed that salt consumption and obesity were risk factors for primary hypertension in Poleang District, Bombana Regency. Suggestion; Increased socialization of Prolanis to patients with hypertension and optimization of posyandu for the elderly, early detection of hypertension and risk factors for hypertension. It is hoped that the community will adopt a healthy lifestyle, following the activities of the Community Health Center Chronic Disease Management Program.

Salt is necessary for the proper functioning of the organism, but the excessive use of it in feeding has increased the incidence of arterial hypertension (AHT), which constitutes the main risk factor of death in the world and the second of disability due to heart disease and brain strokes. The aim of this work was to review, from a current perspective, the relationships between salt consumption (SCN) and public health, with emphasis on AHT, as well as in the existing policies aimed at reducing its overuse. Multiple studies indicate that the reduction of SCN is one of the most effective measures. However, the addition of salt during cooking is not the only problem, since the greatest amount of salt comes from precooked foods. Therefore, the fight against excessive SCN should be conceived as a permanent activity of medical services, with the constant support of public authorities, and collaboration of food industries by reducing or eliminating salt addition from prepared meals, following the scientific recommendations issued in recent years., La sal es necesaria para el buen funcionamiento del organismo, pero el aumento excesivo de su ingesta está produciendo incremento en la incidencia de hipertensión arterial (HTA), la que constituye el principal factor de riesgo de muerte en el mundo y el segundo de discapacidad por enfermedad cardiaca y accidente cerebrovascular. El objetivo de este trabajo fue revisar, desde una perspectiva actual, las relaciones existentes entre el consumo de sal (CNS) y la salud pública, haciendo énfasis en la HTA, así como en las políticas existentes encaminadas a reducir su sobreuso. Múltiples estudios señalan que la reducción del CNS en la población es una de las medidas más eficaces. Sin embargo, la adición de sal durante el cocinado no es el único problema, ya que la mayor cantidad proviene de los alimentos preparados o precocinados. Por tanto, la lucha contra el consumo excesivo de sal debe concebirse como una actividad permanente de los servicios médicos, con el apoyo constante de las autoridades públicas y la colaboración de las industrias alimentarias, a través de reducir o eliminar la adición de sal de los preparados, siguiendo las recomendaciones científicas emitidas en los últimos años.

However, there are no tools in Spanish to measure salt knowledge, but the only valid tool of measurement is the 'Salt Knowledge Questionnaire' (SKQ) developed in Australia, in English. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A validation study was conducted in three phases: (Phase1) Translation of the original Australian version into Spanish; (Phase2) Cultural adaptation based on a Spanish-speaking population such as Peru and following criteria used in the development of the original questionnaire which was evaluated by a panel of experts; (Phase3) Construct validity by comparing the scores of three groups (experts, medical students and non-experts) and reliability by performing a test retest. RESULTS: The translation of the SKQ into Spanish maintained a semantic equivalence with the original questionnaire and a panel of experts accepted the cultural adaptation. The SKQ enables discrimination between those who know and those who do not because differences of scores were found between the group of experts, students and non-experts (P<.001). A good overall internal consistency of the instrument was found (KR20=0.69) and a good overall intraclass correlation (0.79) and no test variations in test-retest (P>.05). CONCLUSIONS: The SKQ questionnaire in Spanish is valid, reliable and is a suitable first tool to measure knowledge about salt in the Spanish language. We evaluated the lifestyle of 214 patients with diabetes mellitus to deter- mine which aspects were affected by their disease and diabetic complications. Information concerning lifestyle was obtained from 15-item questionnaires, and a total lifestyle score (TLS) was calculated. Clinical characteristics including duration of diabetes, glycemic control, current treatment, obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and macro- and microvas- cular complications were evaluated. Patients in their 40s had the lowest TLS, and lifestyle factors were strongly associated with glycemic control, ischemic heart disease, and with autonomic neuropathy. Subjects were also divided into two subgroups of equal size based on the median rate of TLS : an adequate lifestyle group and an inadequate lifestyle group. Although degree of excess in caloric intake was similar in these two groups, sodium intake was significantly higher in the inadequate lifestyle group than in the adequate lifestyle group.
