- Abstract
The problem of vectorial mesons embedded in an electromagnetic field via Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau (DKP) formalism is reinvestigated. Considering the electromagnetic interaction as a minimal coupling, an incorrect value $(g=1)$ is identified for the gyromagnetic factor ($g$-factor). Furthermore, it is shown that is cumbersome to find analytical solutions due to the presence of the so-called anomalous term for the spin-1 sector of the DKP theory. Suspecting that the anomalous term results from an incomplete version of the DKP equation to describe the electromagnetic interaction, we consider the addition of a non-minimal coupling. This leads to the correct $g$-factor $(g=2)$, and as a consequence, the anomalous term becomes proportional to an external four current. As an application, the DKP equation with a static uniform magnetic field is considered, yielding the corresponding Landau levels., Comment: 06 pages

- Abstract

- Abstract
Aim of study: To survey and report the behavior of the weevil Pleurodirus fairmairii as a pest species on Cistus heterophyllus subsp. carthaginensis (Pau) M.B. Crespo & Mateo (Cartagena’s rockrose), in order to provide the first biological data on this species. Cartagena’s rockrose is an Ibero-Balearic endemism considered as "endangered" in the Spanish Catalogue of Threatened Species. Its current distribution is limited to the Spanish provinces of Murcia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands. Area of study: The study has been conducted in Valencia province (Spain). Material and methods: Pleurodirus fairmairii was observed in the field feeding voraciously on Cartagena’s rockrose. Damages were described, and several individuals of the weevil were captured alive for preliminary observation of their feeding habits under laboratory conditions. The trials (no-choice test) consisted of offering a freshly plucked leaf from different potential host plants to the weevils introduced individually in a Petri dish. Furthermore, a male and a female were dissected for the study of genitalia, and their respective components were prepared for microscopy study and subsequently described. Main results: This paper reports for the first time the occurrence of the weevil Pleurodirus fairmairii on plants of C. heterophyllus subsp. carthaginensis and describes the important damage it causes on leaves, stem, buds, flowers and fruits. Research highlights: A short description of the adults is given, including the genitalia, that are shown and described for the first time.

- Abstract
In the summer of 2012, two fires affected Mediterranean ecosystems in the eastern Iberian Peninsula. The size of these fires was at the extreme of the historical variability (megafires). Animals are traditionally assumed to recolonize from source populations outside of the burned area (exogenous regeneration) while plants recover from endogenous regeneration (resprouting and seeding). However, there is increasing evidence of in situ fire survival in animals. To evaluate the effect of large-scale fires on biodiversity and the mechanism of recovery, in 2013, we set up 12 plots per fire, covering burned vegetation at different distances from the fire perimeter and unburned vegetation. In each plot, we followed the postfire recovery of arthropods, reptiles (including some of their parasites), and plants for 2 to 5 years. Here we present the resulting database (POSTDIV) of taxon abundance. POSTDIV totals 19,906 records for 457 arthropod taxa (113,681 individuals), 12 reptile taxa (503 individuals), 4 reptile parasites (234 individuals), and 518 plant taxa (cover-abundance). - Abstract
Subclinical mastitis (SCM) is an inflammatory state of the lactating mammary gland, which is asymptomatic and may have negative consequences for child growth. The objectives of this study were to: (1) test the association between the dietary inflammatory index (DII®) and SCM and (2) assess the differences in nutrient intakes between women without SCM and those with SCM. One hundred and seventy-seven women with available data on human milk (HM) sodium potassium ratio (Na:K) and dietary intake data were included for analysis. Multivariable logistic regression was used to examine the association between nutrient intake and the DII score in relation to SCM. Women without SCM had a lower median DII score (0.60) than women with moderate (1.12) or severe (1.74) SCM (p < 0.01). A one-unit increase in DII was associated with about 41% increased odds of having SCM, adjusting for country and mode of delivery, p = 0.001. Women with SCM had lower mean intakes of several anti-inflammatory nutrients. We show for the first time exploratory evidence that SCM may be associated with a pro-inflammatory diet and women with SCM have lower intakes of several antioxidant and anti-inflammatory nutrients.

[EN] In this article, 83 species of Curculionoidea from the families Anthribidae, Attelabidae, Brentidae, Cimberididae and Curculionidae are recorded. - Abstract
[EN] The objective of this work was to develop a predictive model to aid non-clinical dispatchers to classify emergency medical call incidents by their life-threatening level (yes/no), admissible response delay (undelayable, minutes, hours, days) and emergency system jurisdiction (emergency system/primary care) in real time. We used a total of 1 244 624 independent incidents from the Valencian emergency medical dispatch service in Spain, compiled in retrospective from 2009 to 2012, including clinical features, demographics, circumstantial factors and free text dispatcher observations. Based on them, we designed and developed DeepEMC2, a deep ensemble multitask model integrating four subnetworks: three specialized to context, clinical and text data, respectively, and another to ensemble the former. The four subnetworks are composed in turn by multi-layer perceptron modules, bidirectional long short-term memory units and a bidirectional encoding representations from transformers module. DeepEMC2 showed a macro F1-score of 0.759 in life-threatening classification, 0.576 in admissible response delay and 0.757 in emergency system jurisdiction. These results show a substantial performance increase of 12.5 %, 17.5 % and 5.1 %, respectively, with respect to the current in-house triage protocol of the Valencian emergency medical dispatch service. Besides, DeepEMC2 significantly outperformed a set of baseline machine learning models, including naive bayes, logistic regression, random forest and gradient boosting (¿ = 0.05). Hence, DeepEMC2 is able to: 1) capture information present in emergency medical calls not considered by the existing triage protocol, and 2) model complex data dependencies not feasible by the tested baseline models. Likewise, our results suggest that most of this unconsidered information is present in the free text dispatcher observations. To our knowledge, this study describes the first deep learning model undertaking emergency medical call incidents cla

- Abstract
It is shown that a spin-1/2 fermion coupled to the axially symmetric electromagnetic vector potential has the same matrix structure as that one for the planar Dirac oscillator. In particular, the planar Dirac oscillator can be interpreted as a charged particle minimally coupled to a transverse homogeneous magnetic field.

- Abstract
We point out a misleading treatment in the literature regarding to bound-state solutions for the $s$-wave Klein-Gordon equation with exponential scalar and vector potentials. Following the appropriate procedure for an arbitrary mixing of scalar and vector couplings, we generalize earlier works and present the correct solution to bound states and additionally we address the issue of scattering states. Moreover, we present a new effect related to the polarization of the charge density in the presence of weak short-range exponential scalar and vector potentials., Comment: 6 pages

- Abstract
The relativistic quantum dynamics of scalar bosons in the background of a full vector coupling (minimal plus nonminimal vector couplings) is explored in the context of the Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau formalism. The Coulomb phase shift is determined for a general mixing of couplings and it is shown that the space component of the nonminimal coupling is a {\it sine qua non} condition for the exact closed-form scattering amplitude. It follows that the Rutherford cross section vanishes in the absence of the time component of the minimal coupling. Bound-state solutions obtained from the poles of the partial scattering amplitude show that the time component of the minimal coupling plays an essential role. The bound-state solutions depend on the nonminimal coupling and the spectrum consists of particles or antiparticles depending on the sign of the time component of the minimal coupling without chance for pair production even in the presence of strong couplings. It is also shown that an accidental degeneracy appears for a particular mixing of couplings., Comment: 8 pages, 1 table. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1403.6035

- Abstract
The problem of fermions in 1+1 dimensions in the presence of a pseudoscalar Coulomb potential plus a mixing of vector and scalar Coulomb potentials which have equal or opposite signs is investigated. We explore all the possible signs of the potentials and discuss their bound-state solutions for fermions and antifermions. We show the relation between spin and pseudospin symmetries by means of charge-conjugation and $\gamma^{5}$ chiral transformations. The cases of pure pseudoscalar and mixed vector-scalar potentials, already analyzed in previous works, are obtained as particular cases. The results presented can be extended to 3+1 dimensions., Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures (Ann. Phys.)

Nevertheless, falls are associated to increased mortality, decreased independence and physical activity levels, and worsening of quality of life. The aims of this systematic review was to evaluate information in the literature with regard to whether impaired postural control is more prevalent in COPD patients than in healthy age-matched subjects, and to assess the main characteristics these patients present that contribute to impaired postural control. Methods: Five databases were searched with no dates or language limits. The MEDLINE, PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and PEDro databases were searched using “balance”, “postural control”, and “COPD” as keywords. The search strategies were oriented and guided by a health science librarian and were performed on March 27, 2014. The studies included were those that evaluated postural control in COPD patients as their main outcome and scored more than five points on the PEDro scale. Studies supplied by the database search strategy were assessed independently by two blinded researchers. Results: A total of 484 manuscripts were found using the “balance in COPD or postural control in COPD” keywords. Forty-three manuscripts appeared more than once, and 397 did not evaluate postural control in COPD patients as

- Abstract
In this work an adapted bench-scale Mass Loss Calorimeter (MLC) device is used to measure HRR for forest fuels. The MLC has the same heating unit as a standard cone calorimeter, but a) the physical basis to measure HRR in a MLC (by using a calibrated thermopile) is different than the one used in the standard cone calorimeter (oxygen consumption method) and b) the MCL does not have a unit to measure the concentration of the gases produced during the combustion. Although the concentration values are not essential to measure the HRR curves, their knowledge is of great interest to characterize the combustion process and the combustion efficiency. In this sense, a Fourier transform based spectroradiometer (FTIR) has been adapted to the MLC in a short open-path configuration to measure "in situ" the concentration of carbon monoxide and dioxide and water vapour, nearly simultaneous to the measurement of the HRR values. This simultaneity in both types of measurements allows one to find correlations between different variables. These correlations would help to make predictions on unknown variables in the framework of fire models. © 2010 WIT Press.

An adapted bench-scale Mass Loss Calorimeter (MLC) device for evaluating forest fuel flammability and combustion properties is proposed. This fire test apparatus consists of an MLC fitted with a chimney containing a thermopile. After the thermopile output has been calibrated by use of a methane burner, these data are used to quantify heat release, as an alternative to the classical measurement of oxygen consumption due to combustion. The results showed good repeatability and reasonable approximation to HRR values obtained with a cone calorimeter, and also demonstrated that each variable analyzed was significantly affected by the species considered. © 2009 SAGE Publications.

- Abstract
The Klein-Gordon and the Dirac equations with vector and scalar potentials are investigated under a more general condition, $V_{v}+V_{s}= \mathrm{constant}$. These intrinsically relativistic and isospectral problems are solved in a case of squared hyperbolic potential functions and bound states for either particles or antiparticles are found. The eigenvalues and eigenfuntions are discussed in some detail and the effective Compton wavelength is revealed to be an important physical quantity. It is revealed that a boson is better localized than a fermion when they have the same mass and are subjected to the same potentials., Comment: 3 figures

- Abstract
Accurate determination of gas concentration emitted during thermal degradation (pyrolysis) of biomass in forest fires is one of the keypoints in recent research on physical-based fire spread models. However, it is a very cumbersome task not well solved by classical invasive sensors and procedures. In this work, a methodology to use open-path Fourier transform-based infrared (OP-FTIR) spectrometry has been applied as a remote sensing technique that permits in situ, non-intrusive and simultaneous measurements. Main gaseous by-products (CO, CO2, CH4 and NH3) have been measured and quantified in terms of path-integrated concentrations. Different emission ratios have been determined for the species under study. These results can help to simplify the modelling of pyrolysis processes inside the physical-based models for fire spread. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

- Abstract
The problem of neutral fermions subject to a pseudoscalar potential is investigated. Apart from the solutions for $E=\pm mc^{2}$, the problem is mapped into the Sturm-Liouville equation. The case of a singular trigonometric tangent potential ($\sim \mathrm{tan} \gamma x$) is exactly solved and the complete set of solutions is discussed in some detail. It is revealed that this intrinsically relativistic and true confining potential is able to localize fermions into a region of space arbitrarily small without the menace of particle-antiparticle production., Comment: 12 pages

47. The peremptory influence of a uniform background for trapping neutral fermions with an inversely linear potential

- Abstract
The problem of neutral fermions subject to an inversely linear potential is revisited. It is shown that an infinite set of bound-state solutions can be found on the condition that the fermion is embedded in an additional uniform background potential. An apparent paradox concerning the uncertainty principle is solved by introducing the concept of effective Compton wavelength.

- Abstract
The blackbody radiation is analyzed in universes with $D$ spatial dimensions. With the classical electrodynamics suited to the universe in focus and recurring to the hyperspherical coordinates, it is shown that the spectral energy density as well as the total energy density are sensible to the dimensionality of the universe. Wien's displacement law and the Stefan-Boltzmann law are properly generalized.

- Abstract
The intrinsically relativistic problem of neutral fermions subject to kink--like potentials ($\sim \mathrm{tanh} \gamma x$) is investigated and the exact bound-state solutions are found. Apart from the lonely hump solutions for $E=\pm mc^{2}$, the problem is mapped into the exactly solvable Surm-Liouville problem with a modified P\"{o}schl-Teller potential. An apparent paradox concerning the uncertainty principle is solved by resorting to the concepts of effective mass and effective Compton wavelength., Comment: 13 pages

- Abstract
The intrinsically relativistic problem of spinless particles subject to a general mixing of vector and scalar kink-like potentials ($\sim \mathrm{tanh} ,\gamma x$) is investigated. The problem is mapped into the exactly solvable Surm-Liouville problem with the Rosen-Morse potential and exact bounded solutions for particles and antiparticles are found. The behaviour of the spectrum is discussed in some detail. An apparent paradox concerning the uncertainty principle is solved by recurring to the concept of effective Compton wavelength., Comment: 13 pages, 4 figures
