PurposeEating disorders (EDs) are mental illnesses with severe consequences and high mortality rates. Notwithstanding, EDs are considered a niche specialty making it often difficult for researchers to publish in high-impact journals. Subsequently, research on EDs receives less funding than other fields of psychiatry potentially slowing treatment progress. This study aimed to compare research vitality between EDs and schizophrenia focusing on: number and type of publications; top-cited articles; geographical distribution of top-ten publishing countries; journal distribution of scientific production as measured by bibliometric analysis; funded research and collaborations.MethodsWe used the Scopus database, then we adopted the Bibliometrix R-package software with the web interface app Biblioshiny. We included in the analyses 1,916 papers on EDs and 6491 on schizophrenia.ResultsThe ED field published three times less than schizophrenia in top-ranking journals - with letters and notes particularly lacking-notwithstanding a comparable number of papers published per author. Only 50% of top-cited articles focused on EDs and a smaller pool of journals available for ED research (i.e., Zones 1 and 2 according to Bradford's law) emerged; journals publishing on EDs showed an overall lower rank compared to the schizophrenia field. Schizophrenia research was more geographically distributed and more funded; in contrast, a comparable collaboration index was found between the fields.ConclusionThese data show that research on EDs is currently marginalized and top-rank journals are seldom achievable by researchers in EDs. Such difficulties in research dissemination entail potentially serious repercussions on clinical advancements.Level of evidenceLevel V: opinions of respected authorities, based on descriptive studies, narrative reviews, clinical experience, or reports of expert committees.

The present study examines the Bibliometric Analysis of Publication Trends in Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science (SRMVCAS) during 2001-2020 using the Scopus database. Its goal is to look at how SRMVCAS’s research activity has grown and developed as evidenced by its publication output. A total of 740 records have been obtained and studied in accordance with the goals. During the study period, more articles published in 2017 and 2020 with 83 (11.22%) articles and the highest number of papers published in Optik journal (59) and ranked first. Researchers are interested in joint authorship rather than solo authorship pattern. Chandrasekaran, J. is the most prolific author with 168 records (h-Index=21) and the United States is the top collaborative country with 25 (3.38%) records and Bharathiar University is the top collaborative organisation with 67 records and ranked first and 704 records are published in the form of article type.

Bradford’s Law states that for a given subject area the scattering of literature can be divided into three zones. The first zone (Zone 1)also called as core zone consists of very few number of sources (journals) with highest number of citations, the second zone (Zone 2) consists of moderate number of sources (journals) with a few number of citations and the third zone (Zone 3) consists of highest number of sources (journals) with seldom citations. The present study tests the applicability of Bradford’s Law using 606 articles that were collected from the Scopus database for the period from 1988 to 29.02.2020. The 606 articles comprises of 7630 citations scattered in 226 journals. The journal distribution pattern does not comply with the Bradford’s law. However, when Leimkuhler’s Model was employed the dataset follow the Leimkuhler’s model A rank list of core journals is prepared and the “Journal of Applied Polymer Science” ranked the top journal with 923 (12.10%) of total citations followed by Polymer Composites (10.20%), Polymer - Plastics Engineering & Technology and Engineering (6.79%) and Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites (5.45%) . The distribution of the journals in three zones was done and the number of citations in each zone is calculated. The citation pattern of publication of Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) has been analysed. The half life of Plastics Engineering & Technology journals is calculated and found to be 8.38 years.

This paper is based on the bibliometric analysis of Nanomedicine research published from 2009 to 2018. Total 6415 records were retrieved for analysis from the Web of Science database. The study covers year wise distribution of publications, identification of most prolific authors, identification of most contributing countries, application of Bradford’s law and identification of core journals in the field of nanomedicine. The study reveals that China has contributed highest publications followed by USA and India. The authorship pattern of the publications was studied. The publications are highly collaborative (DC=0.98).

Citation analysis of theses helps in evaluating research performance of departments and universities. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the theses available in Central library, Tripura University from the department of Mathematics. Theses available in the central library for the period of ten years from 2007 to 2016 constitute the sample as the university was converted to central university in 2007. The authorship pattern of the articles was measured with collaborative measures. Bradford law and Leimkuhler model were tested against the dataset. It was revealed that the journals are the most preferred type of documents having the share of 82.07%. Until 1950, single authored papers were dominating and in the recent decades the trend is seen to be shifting towards large group collaborations. The dataset did not fit well against Bradford’s law of scattering. However, we acknowledge the acceptability of modified Bradford’s distribution given by the Leimkuhler model. The results revealed should assist the researchers in the area of Mathematics in improved understanding the characteristics of the field.

Introduction: Health science research focuses to generate new knowledge through new techniques, research design and organizational interventions to serve the whole community. The number of documents published during a stipulated time is measured as the research strength of the concerned institutions to judge their performance. Objective: The prime aim of this study is to find the prominent Indian corporate medical institutions and analyze their scholarly outputs with justification of Bradford’s law. Method: The authors choose 50 Indian corporate medical institutions to analyze their scholarly outputs during the studied period. Discussion: The publication count, citations, h-index and citation per paper of the top 50 Indian corporate medical institutions are discussed with the help of textual and graphical formulation of Bradford’s law of scattering. Conclusion: As the error percentage is very negligible, the Bradford’s law fits in this data set. The analysis identified 10 journals as the nucleus journals which are mostly referred by the researchers at Indian corporate medical institutions.

Qualitative analysis of bibliographic datasets becomes advantageous to individuals and institutions since the high weightage of ‘research’ enunciated in assessment ranking or gradation framework. Out of the various existing methods ‘bibliometric methods’ applied in the current study for quantitative examination of research output to measure productivity and performance. A total of 1690 Bibliographic records consulted of Sardar Patel University (SPU) published during the year 2009-2018 retrieved from the Scopus indexing database. To validate the objectives i.e. to determine chronological growth, authorship pattern, core sources for research communication, and influence of productivity by citations received, various indicators, and indices and bibliometric laws i.e. RGR, Dt, CAI, DC, Bradford’s Law of distributions, and more have been applied appropriately. Furthermore, software of ‘MS-Excel’ and ‘bibliometrix’ & ‘biblioshiny’ of R-Package software applied for detailed and accurate analysis. Evaluated data figured out Average yearly contribution 169 research however accounted Mean RGR (P) ‘0.25’; Mean Dt (P) ’3.52 reveals inconsistent growth of research output. Rate of DC ‘0.98’ and the highest ‘51.30%’ productivity for ‘multi authorship’ indicates a higher rate of collaborative research work. Total ‘36 core sources’ identified which are highly relevant to ‘applied / pure science’ discipline. A total of 15153 citations were received for research occurrence in the span with an average of 8.97 ACPP where mean RGR (C) ‘0.19’ and Mean Dt (C) ‘7.06’ of citations should be the matter of anxiety for SPU and individual scholars. SPU has to make more effort to promote research and create quality culture, attention of developing better policies to enhance and enrich the research performance of individuals.

The study deals with the application of Bradford’s law of scattering on Fluid Mechanics subject. It is found that verbal formulation 1: n: n2 has not fit with the data on Fluid Mechanics. As Leimkuher model applied for verification of Bradford’s law and it fits with 2:57:1462 geometric series with 0.005% of error. Other Scientometrics indicators such as DCI, ICI, author’s ranking, the ranking of most preferred journals, author’s impacts are used for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of research output in Fluid Mechanics subject. The study found that major 13 highly contributed countries have international collaboration trends. ‘Tenduyar, T.E. is the most productive author, and ‘Chemical Engineering Science’ is the highest preferred journal in the field of Fluid Mechanics.

This study analyses the Indian Scientists contributions of research papers related to the topic in Data Mining was undertaken from Web of Science Databases has been used to retrieve the data for 22 years (1999-2020) by the searching the keyword “Data Mining”. The study reveals that, most of the researchers preferred to publish their research results in journals; as such 88.59% of articles were published in journals. More numbers of articles were published in the year 2019. The authorship trend shows that, out of total 1096 literature published, 95.53 % of the publication published under the joint author. It is observed that author productivity is not in agreement with Lotka's law, but productivity distribution data partially fits the law when the value of Chi-square to 25212.62. Further this study also identified to analyses source wise. Degree of collaboration, Areas of research concentration, word frequency, Geographical distribution of the literature and citation analysis is also noted

This paper presents the primary journals in the field of Pediatric Dentistry. The analysis is based on a bibliometric technique i.e. Bradford’s law. The records in the literature in the field of Pediatric Dentistry as indexed in the MEDLINE data covered in PubMed for the period from the year 2000 to 2019 considered for this study. It is found from the study that there are 19037 numbers of records as indexed in the above-said database in the area of Pediatric Dentistry. It was found that 57.25% of publication type is journal articles, 17.83% of publication type is Research Support, Non U.S. Gov't, 7.66% of publication type is Review, and Randomized Controlled Trial of publication type is 3.53%. The literature published as other publication types are 13.73%. The result shows that only thirteen journals fell into zone-1 and published 3671 journal articles, zone-2 consist of 80 journals and published 3666 journal articles, while 93.25% of the journals cited fell in zone-3 and published 3561 journal articles. A total of 93 journals were identified as primary journals in the field of Pediatric Dentistry. The United States published 28 primary journals out of 93 primary journals in the first position; followed by England published 22 primary journals, India published 7 primary journals, Germany published 5 primary journals, and also remaining countries in the study of primary journals analysis published below 4 to 1 primary journal.

This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of the literature in the field of Coronavirus in MEDLINE data which has been covered in PubMed. The study period has been selected from the year 2000 to 2019. It is noticed that 10700 records available in the field of Coronavirus. It has been found that 41.71% of records are Research Support, Non U.S. Gov't, and 30.18% are Journal Articles. The United States is the major publisher in the field of Coronavirus followed by England, Netherlands, China, etc. It shows that 95.14% of the total records were in the English language. Relative Growth Rate (RGR) has been decreased and Doubling time (Dt) has been increased from the year 2001 to 2019 but in an inconsistent manner. It has been noticed that 24 journals grouped in zone-1. Similarly, the second zone contains 120 journals and 697 journals grouped in the third zone. There are 144 journals that have been identified as core journals in the field of Coronavirus. It has been shown that the United States published 49 core journals in the first position followed by England, Netherlands, China, Korea (South), etc.

The present study is done by collecting and analyzing the references from the thirty theses submitted to the Department of Library and Information Science, Gauhati University in between 2011 to 2017. The year-wise distribution of theses is tabulated. From the 30 theses, 3684 citations have been retrieved where journals are found to be the most preferable source material followed by books and conference proceedings. Among the top 40 highly cited journals, 18 journals are from the UK followed by 14 from India. DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology is on top rank with 72 citations. The citation half-life of literature is found approximately as 12 years.

The proposed study tries to investigate citation pattern of Chemistry theses submitted to Central library Tripura University. The study considered only those theses submitted to Shodhganga, the Indian ETD initiative. Hence data were collected from 20 theses constituting 6214 citations during 2007 to 2016. Bardford’s law is used to find out the core journals in the field of Chemistry. The rank list of journals showed “Phytochemistry” is the most cited journal. The dataset of the study did not follow the Bradford’s law. However, the dataset follow the Leimkuhler’s model. Half life of Chemistry journals is found to be 12.6 years. The results revealed from the study will assist the researchers in the area of Chemistry in improved understanding the characteristics of the field; it will aid librarians in selection of documents and collection development of the library; it will help the policy makers in decision making.

The day-to-day increasing costs of petrol and diesel and to control the air pollution makes an impact to do a scientometric analysis on the research ouput on “Electric Car”. Therefore, the research publications indexed in Web of Science for 28 years have been downloaded from 1991 to 2018 for the analysis. The research reveals that a total of 2424 publications is published during the above-mentioned year. The regression test proves that the deviation among the data is low and has possibility to calculate the doubling time on the basis the last 14 years. The doubling time proves that the growth of publications increased from year after year. Journal articles played a dominant role among other type of publications. The language “English” played prominent role than the other language publications on “Electric Car”. Tang T.Q. published 15 publications and ranked first among the other authors. The Lotka’s Law does not fit the author productivity of the publications published on “Electric Car”. Eventhough, the research publications are increasing from year after year, the number of publications published in the past is not up to remarkable. At the same time, only a very few countries have been implemented the “Electric Car” throughout the world. It is therefore, suggested that the funding agencies, sponsoring bodies and global research and development ministries to encourage the researchers to do many more research on “Electric Car”, to enhance the control of air pollution by means of reducing the consumption of Petrol and Diesel, which will also support the cost control for better economy of the global countries.

Citation analysis is one of the thrust areas of research in Library and Information Science. It provides very useful insights to librarians and policy makers in terms of which sources to be purchased and what to be replaced. The current study was carried out to understand different characteristics of Physics as a discipline by analysing the citations appended at the end of Doctoral theses of Physics, Tripura University. A total 5640 citations were analysed from 18 theses during the 10 years period of 2007 to 2016. Bradford’s law of scattering of periodical was tested as it did not fit in the particular dataset the appropriateness of Leimkuhler model was also evaluated with the dataset. Journal of Geophysical Research being published from USA is found to be ranked one in the list of core journals. American Chemical Society, USA was found to be the top cited Publisher. The study also disclosed that electronic and subscription based journals receives more citations.

The present study aimed at examining the quantitative and qualitative aspects of literature output on Wireless Communication as available and indexed in Web of Science database covering a nine year period i.e from 2010 to 2018. A total of 8482 records were downloaded from Web of Science core collection database. The downloaded records, in txt format, were exported to Bibexcel software for analyzing the data for certain quantitative and qualitative indicators. MS Excel programme was used to do all the necessary calculations and preparation of cross tables with Pivot Table options. The findings were presented under the major heads as basic metrics, author metrics, quality metrics, institution and publisher metrics, future metrics and geo metrics. The findings reveal that there is a gradual growth of publications on WLC during the study period. An exponential growth pattern was found. The Relative Growth Rate shows a decreasing trend and the Doubling time shows an increasing trend. Rather than single authored publications, multi-authored publications are more in numbers. The authors preferred to work in very small / small teams. The Degree of collaboration kept on growing throughout the study period. The researchers in WLC preferred to publish their research findings in the form of Journal articles. English is the preferred language of publications among the WLC researchers. China and USA lead the world in WLC research followed by India in the third place. Intra-county collaboration was found to be more in numbers than inter-country collaboration in WLC research output. The journals publishing research papers in WLC research do not fall in Bradford’s law of scattering. The time series analysis shows that the growth of WLC research output will be in better prospects in the years to come.

A Citation analysis on 8289 citations cited in 59 LIS doctoral theses submitted to Kuvempu University (15 theses) and University of Mysore (44 theses) has been carried out to know the citation pattern. The data was collected using Shodhganga e-theses database. The study found that a total of 6883 journal citations were cited in 59 theses. The journal ‘Scientometrics’ has been cited 651 times and stands first in the rank list of journals. Annals of Library and Information Studies which is an Indian LIS journal stands in the third position in the rank list with 130 citations. The Bradford’s law of scattering is not applicable for this study. The rank list of country-wise journals showed that journals published from USA have highly cited followed by journals published from UK and India.

An attempt has been made in this paper to identify the research productivity on the bibliometircs subject published from 2013 to 2017 in the Web of Science database. 1422 research articles on bibliometrics published in various library science journals and indexed in the web of science database is considered as a basis of data for the study. In this article we made an attempt to analyze the pattern of publication of 1422 research articles. The study involved on various bibliometric components such as annual growth rate, authorship pattern, distribution of contribution by country wise, language wise, institution wise, most prolific author in the field, high productivity of Journals, etc are studied. On an average 284 articles were published in each year during the study period and highest number of articles are recorded in the year 2016. Further, USA is a contributed the highest number of research articles (22.2%). The journal “scientometric” ranks as the first core journals in the subject of library science by contributing 37% of the total publications. Finally, the study concluded that there has been consistent growth of literature in the field of bibliometric studies and also given data set well fitted with the Bradford law of scattering of literature.

The study has examined the research output of the keyword analysis of ‘Dengue disease’ during the period 2005 - 2014. Bibliometric indicators were existing journal articles, cited reference, authorship pattern, document wise distribution, journal self – citation and author self-citation, keyword analysis in the dengue disease. The keyword analysis of Dengue Disease for ten-years, during the year 2005 to 2014 taken for the study 3517 words were retrieved in the current study. The highest publication is 691 in 2014 rank is first, the second rank is 2012 in 518 records, third rank is 2011 in 414 records and lowest record is 131 in 2005. The out of 3517 articles single author contributed only 216 (6.14 %) articles while the rest 3301 (93.86 %) articles were contributed by Multi authors. The majority of authorship patterns are multi-author collaborations which is the highest contribution during the ten years. The degree of collaboration ranges from 0.90 to 0.97 and the average degree of collaboration is 0.94. Researchers identified the total number of Countries i.e. 130 during the period between 2005- 2014. But, we observed the majority of the Country “USA” in 1219 records with TLCS- 6211 and TGCS in 27146. Researchers identified the total number of keywords i.e. 5493 during the period between 2005- 2014. But selected top 20 keywords for the research purpose. We observed the majority of the keywords “Dengue” in 2038 records with TLCS 10794 and TGCS in 33761. Moreover the present study mirrors the actual published results of the work of Dengue Disease in global level.

The present paper investigates Bradford’s Law of scattering for the ‘Microbiology’ literature in India for the period 2002-2016 as accessible in the Web of Science Core Collection database. A total of 25,744 articles related to Microbiology literature published in journals during the study period is retrieved. The data has been examined with respect to year-wise publication productivity, Relative Growth Rate (RGR) and Doubling Time (DT) of literature. The time series analysis is also used to predict the future growth of literature. The 25,744 articles are scattered in 328 journals. A top ranked journals list was prepared and it unveiled that the Bio-resource Technology Journal has emerged as the most preferred journal with 1,610 (6.25%) articles followed by Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology with 1,019 (3.95%) articles and World journal of Microbiology Biotechnology with 746 (2.89%) articles. Theoretical aspects of Bradford’s Law of Scattering are verified and manifested that the data does not fit to the present sample. The Leimkuhler model is applied and it proved to the data set for the Bradford Multiplier (k) at 14.17. The Bradford law is also verified through graphical formulation by drawing the graph and is found to approve all the three characteristics.

The data obtained indicate the possibility of applying some of the Laws of Bibliometrics in the analysis to identify patterns in the structures of production and academic arrangements. Thus, the data show that the five most prolific researchers accounted for the guidance of 15 % of the research on environmental sustainability thus approaching the Lotka law. The study is based on the articles published in the open access journal, Advances in Anthropology during the year 2013-2014 covering 59 articles in 8 issues having 1750 citations. Data has been collected from Advances in Anthropology from the Directory of Open Access Journals. Data has been analyzed by using excel sheet by year, types of document, trend of research, author productivity, journal productivity etc. The citation study has been carried out to find out the various sources of literature used by the researchers in the field of Anthropology. A rank list of journals is also prepared to find out the core journals based on the citation frequencies. Applicability of Bradford’s Law of scattering is tested here to identify the core journals in the field of anthropology. Lotka’s Law of Author Productivity is also tested to find out the most active authors in anthropology. Authorship Pattern has been studied to know whether collaborative or individual research is mostly done in the field of Anthropology. In this way trend of research, growth of research, type of documents, etc are analyzed. It has been observed that the articles published in the year 2007 have been cited maximum number of times i.e. 140 times and the journal Nature is the most popular journal for the anthropologists. Bradford’s Law of Journal Productivity is applicable but Lotka’s Law of Author’s Productivity does not follow here. From the study it has also been identified that individual research is more prominent than collaborative research and Physical Anthropology is the most promising field of research.

The understanding of Corporate Governance excels both in organizational structures as well as in academic. A better understanding of this field establishes the objective of this study to identify if knowledge in Corporate Governance in Brazil is legitimized. To meet the aims of this study, there was a descriptive research with a quantitative approach, using the technique of data mining. Data analysis enabled us to identify that the works of the authors Ricardo Pereira Hall, Alexandre Di Miceli da Silveira, Rubens Famá and Richard Saito are legitimized. Of the ten researchers considered legitimate six are international. The search identified 193 articles written by 359 authors, with a distribution close to the Lotka's Law, which makes it possible to identify a small group of authors with many publications. El mejor entendimiento de ese campo establece el objetivo de este estudio de identificar si el conocimiento en Gobernanza Corporativa en Brasil está legitimado. Para atender las propuestas de este estudio, se realizó una investigación descriptiva, de enfoque cuantitativo, utilizando la técnica del data mining. El análisis de los datos posibilitó identificar que las obras de los autores Ricardo Pereira Câmara, Alexandre Di Miceli da Silveira, Rubens Famá y Richard Saito se encuentran legitimadas. De los diez investigadores considerados como legitimados seis son internacionales. La investigación identificó 193 artículos elaborados por 359 autores, con una distribución próxima a la de la Ley de Lotka, que posibilita identificar un pequeño núcleo de autores con muchas publicaciones. Se constató que 55 revistas publicaron artículos dirigidos a la Gobernanza Corporativa y se colocan como importantes instrumentos de legitimación de ese campo científico en lo concerniente al conocimiento.

The understanding of Corporate Governance excels both in organizational structures as well as in academic. A better understanding of this field establishes the objective of this study to identify if knowledge in Corporate Governance in Brazil is legitimized. To meet the aims of this study, there was a descriptive research with a quantitative approach, using the technique of data mining. Data analysis enabled us to identify that the works of the authors Ricardo Pereira Hall, Alexandre Di Miceli da Silveira, Rubens Famá and Richard Saito are legitimized. Of the ten researchers considered legitimate six are international. The search identified 193 articles written by 359 authors, with a distribution close to the Lotka's Law, which makes it possible to identify a small group of authors with many publications. The study examines Oceanography Research in India as revealed by the scholarly publication indexed in Aquatic Science and Fisheries Abstract (ASFA) data base for a period of fifteen years from 2008 to 2013. It was seen that the analyses included research growth, author productivity, authorship pattern, Geographical distribution of the literature, global publications’ share, of international collaborative papers and major collaborative partner countries and patterns of research communication in most productive journals. The study reveals that, most of the researchers preferred to publish their research results in journals; as such 61.78% of articles were published in journals, more numbers of articles were published in the year 2013. It is observed that author productivity is not in agreement with Lotka's law, but productivity distribution data partially fits the law when the value of Chi-square to 199.01. Further this study also identified to analyses coverage growth rates, coverage growth rates, source wise. Degree of collaboration, institutions wise and Geographical wise distribution of the literature.

Sambalpur Univesity (SU) was started functioning from 1st January, 1967 in the Odisha State. The university imparting study and research through 27 post-graduate departments in disciplines of Science, Humanities, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Law and Commerce. The present study aims to study the research performance of SU’s publications that have been indexed in Scopus during 2008 to 2012. The study also identifies the annual growth of university publication, authorship pattern, author productivity, degree of collaboration, length of paper published, most prolific contributor, prolific institution/ organization, geographical distribution etc. Lotka’s law of scientific productivity was used to determine the author’s productivity and Bradford’s is law used to determine scattering of literature in the publication pattern of the university during the period under study.

Analyse articles in SRELS journal of information management published during the years 2004-2013 and to study the key dimensions of its publication trends. For this study 10 volumes containing 48 issues have been taken up for evaluation. Necessary bibliometric measures are applied to analyse different publication parameters. In all 499 articles are published with an average 49 articles each year. The collaborative measures are calculated as per Ajiferuke et al (0.35), Lawani (2.28) and Subramanyam (0.65). The average author per article is 1.83 for 499 articles. Lotka’s law is tested and conforms to a value of n=2.27. There are 6224 citations found appended to 499 articles during the period 2004-2013. Journals (44.49%) are the top form of source used by authors followed by books (22.51%) and web pages (15.60%). Ranked list of prolific authors and ranked list of journals is prepared and presented in respective tables. Khaiser Nikam and MP Satija have topped the ranked list of prolific authors with 11 articles each. SRELS Journal of Information Management topped the ranked list of journals with 197 (7.11%) citations. Among different countries contributing to this journal, authors from India (94.75%) have made maximum contributions. Authors from Karnataka (43.59%) have contributed majority of articles among Indian States. Bradford’s Law of Scattering is verified through Leimkuhler model and found fitting the data.

The present study is a bibliometric assessment of scientific research output of Sambalpur University during the 2007 to 2011. Which describes the growth, contribution and impact of research carried out by the faculty members, researchers or students of Sambalpur University. It also attempts to analyze the growth and development of research activity of the university as reflected in publications output covered by ISI Web of Science during the period under study. The study attempt to examines the content of papers published, including the annual average growth rate percent, authorship pattern, degree of collaboration, distribution of citations, organizational affiliation of papers. Subramanyam’s formula is used to calculate degree of collaboration (C), Bradford’s law used to determine scattering of literature in the publication pattern of the university.

The scientometric study of 1198 articles on Cosmology research in Indiaspanning over the years 1999 to 2012 downloaded from Web of Science has been executed in this paper. The study analyses literature growth trends, which reveals a uniform growth of literature over the said time span with a little droop in the year 2010. It also examines collaborations with different countries worldwide. The authorship pattern, document types involved and active Indian institutions co-coordinating research in this subject area have also been studied.Bradford law of scattering was employed to identify the core journals and Lotka’s law was employed to study the authors’ productivity pattern.

Purpose- The present study is a bibliometric analysis of research papers of Utkal University published in various research journals of repute which were indexed in Scopus (officially known as Sciverse Scopus) during 2008 to 2012. It also identifies the annual growth of university publication, authorship pattern, author productivity, degree of collaboration, length of paper published, most prolific contributor, prolific institution/ organization, geographical distribution etc. Design/ methodology/ approach- For information retrieval “Utkal University” and “India” were the keywords used as affiliation and “2008” to “2012” selected as the time span of the study, further, the result was refined only to “articles”. Finally, 447 research papers in different disciplines of science and technology retrieved and matched with Utkal University as “author’s affiliation”. The papers were analyzed according to their year-wise publication, authorship pattern, length of paper published, geographical distribution of papers etc., statistical techniques such as Lotka’s Inverse Square Law was used to identify author’s productivity and Bradford’s law used to determine scattering of literature in the publication pattern of the university during the period under study. Findings- International Journal of Earth Sciences and Engineering, Prof. P. K. Panda and Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmaceutics were the most favoured journal, contributor and research area respectively during the period under study. The study also revealed that, out of 1702 contributor only 680 were affiliated to Utkal University with 1.53 average authors per paper and 0.66 productivity per author. Research limitations/ implication- The present study has limitation by geographical area i.e. it covers only Utkal University and by time i.e. it covers only the research papers which were indexed during 2008 to 2012. Database Tomography (DT) is a textual database analysis system consisting of two major components: 1) algorithms for extracting multi-word phrase frequencies and phrase proximities (physical closeness of the multi-word technical phrases) from any type of large textual database, to augment 2) interpretative capabilities of the expert human analyst. DT was used to derive technical intelligence from a hypersonic/ supersonic flow (HSF) database derived from the Science Citation Index and the Engineering Compendex. Phrase frequency analysis by the technical domain expert provided the pervasive technical themes of the HSF database, and the phrase proximity analysis provided the relationships among the pervasive technical themes. Bibliometric analysis of the HSF literature supplemented the DT results with author/ journal/ institution publication and citation data. Comparisons of HSF results with past analyses of similarly structured near-earth space and Chemistry databases are made. One important finding is that many of the normalized bibliometric distribution functions are extremely consistent across these diverse technical domains.
