New records and data on distribution concerning 15 Pyraloidea species (Pyralidae, Crambidae) little-known inCroatia are given. The majority of the specimens were collected around the Velebit area, or lesser-studied areas ofContinental Croatia, with other material collected in Dalmatia. Three species were reported for the first time fromthe Mountainous and the Continental geographic area. Within these studied regions, one species was recorded forthe first time after more than 150 years, six species after more than 120 years, four species after more than 100 yearsand five species after almost 70 years. Altogether 13 out of the total of 15 species were recorded for the first time inrecent investigations from Croatia: one after an absence of 120 years, three species for the first time in 70 years andnine after almost 20 years, Se dan nuevos registros y datos sobre la distribución concerniente a 15 especies de Pyraloidea (Pyralidae,Crambidae) poco conocidas en Croacia. La mayoría de los especímenes fueron colectados en los alrededores delárea de Velebit, o áreas menores premeditadas de Croacia continental, con otro material colectado en Dalmacia. Tresespecies fueron registradas, por primera vez, del área geográfica Montañosa y Continental. Dentro de estas regionespremeditadas, una especie fue registrada por primera vez después de más de 150 años, seis especies de más de 120años, cuatro especies de más de 100 años y cinco especies de más de 70 años. En total 13 de las 15 especies fueroncitadas en las recientes investigaciones en Croacia: una después de 120 años, tres especies por primera vez en 70años y nueve después de casi 20 años.

The use of medical herbs for the treatment of many human diseases is increasing nowadays due to their mild features and low side effects. Not only for their healing properties, but also for their nutritive value supplementation of diet with various herbs is recommended. Thus also their analysis is of rising importance. While total elemental compositions are published for many common herbs, the origin of toxic as well as beneficial elements is not yet well investigated. Thus different indigenous medicinal plants, namely Croatian spruce (Picea abies), savory (Satureja montana L.), mountain yarrow (Achillea clavennae), showy calamint (Calamintha grandiflora), micromeria (Micromeria croatica), yellow gentian (Gentiana lutea) and fir (Abies alba) together with soil samples were collected in the National Park Northern Velebit. The macro- and trace elements content, after microwave digestion, was determined by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS). The study focuses on the one hand on essential elements and on the other hand on non-essential elements which are considered as toxic for humans, covering in total Al, As, B, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, Pb, Sr and Zn., Funding Agency: Wissenschaftlich-technische Zusammenarbeit Austria-Croatia (Austrian Exchange Service OAD), Grant Number: HR-23-2012
