Abstract: Background. Edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy (EFP), commonly known as cellulite, is a cosmetic concern affecting a large percentage of women. Radiofrequency diathermy (RFD) and focused ultrasound (FUS) are noninvasive treatments proposed for the reduction of EFP. Objective. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of RFD versus FUS, both combined with intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) for the treatment of EFP in female thighs. Methods. A randomized intrasubject assessor-blind trial was conducted (NCT03474523) on 40 lower limbs of 20 women with EFP grades I, II, or III according to the Nürnberger & Müller scale. Each lower limb was randomly assigned to receive either seven RFD sessions or seven FUS sessions, both combined with IPC. Measurements were collected at baseline and post-treatment, including lower limb circumferences at different levels, weight, grade of EFP, and physical activity level. Results. Both RFD and FUS treatments, both combined with IPC, showed significant intragroup reduction in thigh circumference measurements for RFD at 15 cm (p = 0.001), 20 cm (p = 0.024), and midpoint (p = 0.008) and for FUS at 15 cm (p = 0.001), 20 cm (p = 0.010), midpoint (p = 0.008), 30 cm (p = 0.020), and 40 cm (p = 0.048). No statistically significant differences were observed between the two treatments. Weight did not change with treatment, and physical activity levels did not significantly affect EFP improvement. Conclusion. Both RFD and FUS, combined with IPC, were effective noninvasive methods for treating EFP. This study found that there was no significant difference between RFD and FUS in terms of efficacy in reducing EFP in the thighs. Therefore, both techniques can be used to treat EFP from a clinical perspective. Further studies with objective measurements are required to confirm these results and to guide clinical decision-making. This trial is registered with NCT03474523.

Abstract: La vida del pintor Valdés Leal coincidió con el momento de mayor esplendor de la pintura y el teatro del llamado “Siglo de Oro” español. La abundante producción pictórica de Valdés conforma, a la vez que refleja, esta época extraordinaria. Entre su producción, como en la de cualquier otro pintor sevillano de aquel tiempo, son abundantes los ejemplos que permiten comparar las imágenes pintadas con lo que se podía ver sobre los escenarios teatrales de su siglo. Aquí se comparan diversas pinturas (convento de Santa Clara, de Carmona; Carmen Calzado, de Córdoba; y Los desposorios de la Virgen y San José, de la catedral de Sevilla) con textos teatrales contemporáneos. También se analiza la participación de Valdés Leal en el programa iconográfico de la iglesia del Hospital de la Santa Caridad, de Sevilla., The life of the painter Valdés Leal coincided with the moment of greatest splendor of painting and the theater of the so-called Spanish “Golden Age”. The abundant pictorial production of Valdés conforms, at the same time that it reflects, this extraordinary time. Among his production, as in that of any other Sevillian painter of that time, there are abundant examples that allow us to compare the painted images with what could be seen on the theater stages of his century. Here various paintings are compared (the convent of Santa Clara, from Carmona; Carmen Calzado, from Córdoba; and The Betrothal of the Virgin and Saint Joseph, from Seville Cathedral) with contemporary theatrical texts. The participation of Valdés Leal in the iconographic program of the church of the Hospital de la Santa Caridad, in Seville, is also analyzed.

4. EduCode: herramienta de soporte al aprendizaje de la programación

Abstract: Enseñar a programar no es una tarea fácil, particularmente cuando se trabaja con grupos numerosos de alumnos. En los últimos años, los sistemas de aprendizaje electrónico han adquirido importancia, ya que transforman el uso de los contenidos, las técnicas de aprendizaje y la forma de interactuar de alumnos y profesores. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar el diseño y la implementación de un sistema de aprendizaje electrónico para apoyar la enseñanza de la programación en cursos universitarios. La plataforma desarrollada está diseñada tanto para sesiones de laboratorio presenciales como para clases en línea. Describimos primero los principios del e-learning y después comparamos las soluciones disponibles y sus carencias en el área de programación. Posteriormente, presentamos la aplicación desarrollada mediante la metodología ágil, de forma que se puedan implementar nuevas funcionalidades según las peticiones de profesores y alumnos, guiando el progreso del desarrollo en función de los problemas detectados. El resultado del proyecto es una aplicación que simplifica las clases porque permite monitorización simultánea del trabajo on-line de múltipes alumnos e integra todas las funcionalidades necesarias para el desarrollo: editor de texto, ejecución y supervisión por parte del profesor en tiempo real, así como gestión de asignaturas, grupos y alumnos., Teaching programming is a difficult task, even more complex when classes are large, and teachers need innovative tools and techniques. In recent years, e-learning systems have become increasingly important as they have changed the use of content, learning techniques and the way students and teachers interact. The aim of this article is to present the design and implementation of an e-learning system to support the teaching of programming in university courses. The developed platform is designed for both on-site laboratory sessions and also online classes. In order to achieve our goals, firstly, we discuss the theory of e-learning and compares the solutions available on the market. Subsequently, the application is developed using the agile methodology, so that new functionalities can be implemented according to the requests of teachers and students, guiding the progress of the development according to the problems manifested. The result of the project is an application that simplifies lessons because it does not require a change of context and integrates all the functionalities necessary for development: text editor, code execution and sharing, help functions and teacher supervision.

Abstract: Neuroblastoma is a neural crest cell-derived pediatric tumor characterized by high inter- and intra-tumor heterogeneity, and by a poor outcome in advanced stages. Patient-derived xenografts (PDXs) have been shown to be useful models for preserving and expanding original patient biopsies in vivo, and for studying neuroblastoma biology in a more physiological setting. The maintenance of genetic, histologic, and phenotypic characteristics of the original biopsy along serial PDX passages in mice is a major concern regarding this model. Here we analyze consecutive PDX passages in mice, at both transcriptomic and histological levels, in order to identify potential changes or highlight similarities to the primary sample. We studied temporal changes using mRNA and miRNA expression and correlate those with neuroblastoma aggressiveness using patient-derived databases. We observed a shortening of tumor onset and an increase in proliferative potential in the PDXs along serial passages. This behavior correlates with changes in the expression of genes related to cell proliferation and neuronal differentiation, including signaling pathways described as relevant for neuroblastoma malignancy. We also identified new genes and miRNAs that can be used to stratify patients according to survival, and which could be potential new players in neuroblastoma aggressiveness. Our results highlight the usefulness of the PDX neuroblastoma model and reflect phenotypic changes that might be occurring in the mouse environment. These findings could be useful for understanding the progression of tumor aggressiveness in this pathology.

Abstract: Cancer is driven by genetic change, and the advent of massively parallel sequencing has enabled systematic documentation of this variation at the whole-genome scale(1-3). Here we report the integrative analysis of 2,658 whole-cancer genomes and their matching normal tissues across 38 tumour types from the Pan-Cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes (PCAWG) Consortium of the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). We describe the generation of the PCAWG resource, facilitated by international data sharing using compute clouds. On average, cancer genomes contained 4-5 driver mutations when combining coding and non-coding genomic elements; however, in around 5% of cases no drivers were identified, suggesting that cancer driver discovery is not yet complete. Chromothripsis, in which many clustered structural variants arise in a single catastrophic event, is frequently an early event in tumour evolution; in acral melanoma, for example, these events precede most somatic point mutations and affect several cancer-associated genes simultaneously. Cancers with abnormal telomere maintenance often originate from tissues with low replicative activity and show several mechanisms of preventing telomere attrition to critical levels. Common and rare germline variants affect patterns of somatic mutation, including point mutations, structural variants and somatic retrotransposition. A collection of papers from the PCAWG Consortium describes non-coding mutations that drive cancer beyond those in the TERT promoter(4); identifies new signatures of mutational processes that cause base substitutions, small insertions and deletions and structural variation(5,6); analyses timings and patterns of tumour evolution(7); describes the diverse transcriptional consequences of somatic mutation on splicing, expression levels, fusion genes and promoter activity(8,9); and evaluates a range of more-specialized features of cancer genomes(8,10-18).

Abstract: Cancer is driven by genetic change, and the advent of massively parallel sequencing has enabled systematic documentation of this variation at the whole-genome scale(1-3). Here we report the integrative analysis of 2,658 whole-cancer genomes and their matching normal tissues across 38 tumour types from the Pan-Cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes (PCAWG) Consortium of the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). We describe the generation of the PCAWG resource, facilitated by international data sharing using compute clouds. On average, cancer genomes contained 4-5 driver mutations when combining coding and non-coding genomic elements; however, in around 5% of cases no drivers were identified, suggesting that cancer driver discovery is not yet complete. Chromothripsis, in which many clustered structural variants arise in a single catastrophic event, is frequently an early event in tumour evolution; in acral melanoma, for example, these events precede most somatic point mutations and affect several cancer-associated genes simultaneously. Cancers with abnormal telomere maintenance often originate from tissues with low replicative activity and show several mechanisms of preventing telomere attrition to critical levels. Common and rare germline variants affect patterns of somatic mutation, including point mutations, structural variants and somatic retrotransposition. A collection of papers from the PCAWG Consortium describes non-coding mutations that drive cancer beyond those in the TERT promoter(4); identifies new signatures of mutational processes that cause base substitutions, small insertions and deletions and structural variation(5,6); analyses timings and patterns of tumour evolution(7); describes the diverse transcriptional consequences of somatic mutation on splicing, expression levels, fusion genes and promoter activity(8,9); and evaluates a range of more-specialized features of cancer genomes(8,10-18).

Abstract: We herein present an overview of the upcoming 5th edition of the World Health Organization Classification of Haematolymphoid Tumours focussing on lymphoid neoplasms. Myeloid and histiocytic neoplasms will be presented in a separate accompanying article. Besides listing the entities of the classification, we highlight and explain changes from the revised 4th edition. These include reorganization of entities by a hierarchical system as is adopted throughout the 5th edition of the WHO classification of tumours of all organ systems, modification of nomenclature for some entities, revision of diagnostic criteria or subtypes, deletion of certain entities, and introduction of new entities, as well as inclusion of tumour-like lesions, mesenchymal lesions specific to lymph node and spleen, and germline predisposition syndromes associated with the lymphoid neoplasms.

Abstract: The electronic band structure of Au2Pb has a Dirac cone which gaps when undergoing a structural transition into a low temperature superconducting phase. This suggests that the superconducting phase (T-c = 1.1 K) might hold topological properties at the surface. Here we make Scanning Tunneling Microscopy experiments on the surface of superconducting Au2Pb. We measure the superconducting gap and find a sizable superconducting density of states at the Fermi level. We discuss possible origins for this finding in terms of superconductivity induced into surface states.

Abstract: The electronic band structure of Au2Pb has a Dirac cone which gaps when undergoing a structural transition into a low temperature superconducting phase. This suggests that the superconducting phase (T-c = 1.1 K) might hold topological properties at the surface. Here we make Scanning Tunneling Microscopy experiments on the surface of superconducting Au2Pb. We measure the superconducting gap and find a sizable superconducting density of states at the Fermi level. We discuss possible origins for this finding in terms of superconductivity induced into surface states.

Abstract: El atavío de las imágenes marianas dolorosas de Sevilla es una manifestación patrimonial a la que la comunidad científica no le ha prestado la atención que merece. Se trata de una seña de identidad dentro de los ritos religiosos y cultuales que forman parte de la Semana Santa de Sevilla, que además se mantiene viva, en continua evolución, acompañando los cambios de vida de la sociedad, los estilos y las modas. A partir del estudio histórico, iconográfico, artístico y del colectivo de personas implicado en su ejecución, se evidencia la necesidad de crear un plan de protección específico que asegure la pervivencia de los valores materiales e inmateriales inherentes a esta tradición cultural en la que las representaciones escultóricas de la Virgen María son revestidas con prendas textiles para presentarlas a sus fieles. Esta tesis plantea la acotación y descripción de este rito, haciendo acopio de distintas parcelas de conocimiento para conformar un corpus que servirá de punto de partida para la consideración de la vestimenta de las vírgenes dolorosas sevillanas como patrimonio inmaterial, más allá del reconocimiento de los bienes materiales implicados. Para ello, es indispensable el trabajo conjunto con el grupo de personas encargadas de realizar esta activad de manera que se impliquen en su correcta conservación preventiva y puesta en valor del patrimonio que custodian. Con este fin, esta investigación incluye el diseño de una herramienta que permita el registro de la propia actividad y que refleje el conocimiento adquirido de su estudio, de manera que se presentaran los datos más relevantes de manera clara y concisa.

Abstract: We herein present an overview of the upcoming 5th edition of the World Health Organization Classification of Haematolymphoid Tumours focussing on lymphoid neoplasms. Myeloid and histiocytic neoplasms will be presented in a separate accompanying article. Besides listing the entities of the classification, we highlight and explain changes from the revised 4th edition. These include reorganization of entities by a hierarchical system as is adopted throughout the 5th edition of the WHO classification of tumours of all organ systems, modification of nomenclature for some entities, revision of diagnostic criteria or subtypes, deletion of certain entities, and introduction of new entities, as well as inclusion of tumour-like lesions, mesenchymal lesions specific to lymph node and spleen, and germline predisposition syndromes associated with the lymphoid neoplasms.

Abstract: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common joint disease. The administration of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) by phonophoresis is a therapeutic alternative to relieve pain in inflammatory pathologies. The main aim was to analyze the efficacy of the application of NSAIDs by phonophoresis in knee OA. A systematic review and meta-analysis of controlled clinical trials were performed between January and March 2021 in the following databases: Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, Cinahl, SciELO, and PEDro. The PEDro scale was used to evaluate the level of evidence of the selected studies. The RevMan 5.4 statistical software was used to obtain the meta-analysis. Eight studies were included, of which five were included in the meta-analysis, involving 195 participants. The NSAIDs used through phonophoresis were ibuprofen, piroxicam, diclofenac sodium, diclofenac diethylammonium, ketoprofen, and methyl salicylate. The overall result for pain showed not-conclusive results, but a trend toward significance was found in favor of the phonophoresis group compared to the control group (standardized mean difference (SMD) = −0.92; 95% confidence interval: −1.87–0.02). Favorable results were obtained for physical function (SMD = −1.34; 95% CI: −2.00–0.68). Based on the selected studies, the application of NSAIDs by phonophoresis is effective in relieving the symptoms of knee OA. Future long-term studies are recommended.

Abstract: While many genetic diseases have effective treatments, they frequently progress rapidly to severe morbidity or mortality if those treatments are not implemented immediately. Since front-line physicians frequently lack familiarity with these diseases, timely molecular diagnosis may not improve outcomes. Herein we describe Genome-to-Treatment, an automated, virtual system for genetic disease diagnosis and acute management guidance. Diagnosis is achieved in 13.5 h by expedited whole genome sequencing, with superior analytic performance for structural and copy number variants. An expert panel adjudicated the indications, contraindications, efficacy, and evidence-of-efficacy of 9911 drug, device, dietary, and surgical interventions for 563 severe, childhood, genetic diseases. The 421 (75%) diseases and 1527 (15%) effective interventions retained are integrated with 13 genetic disease information resources and appended to diagnostic reports ( https://gtrx.radygenomiclab.com ). This system provided correct diagnoses in four retrospectively and two prospectively tested infants. The Genome-to-Treatment system facilitates optimal outcomes in children with rapidly progressive genetic diseases.

Abstract: El casco es uno de los elementos de seguridad industrial más importantes como EPP (equipo de protección personal) para proteger la integridad de una persona, en ese sentido el objetivo de este trabajo fue simular en el SolidWorks Académico el elemento para estudiar el análisis estático lineal y térmico de los requisitos obligatorios de la norma EN 397, en esta investigación descriptiva se consideró: absorción de impactos, resistencia a la penetración y térmica, a partir de los resultados obtenidos con el material ABS expuestos por la simulación arrojan sus valores mínimos y máximos de tensiones, desplazamientos y deformaciones unitarias, lo que determina que mediante una esfera de acero galvanizado a una velocidad de 20m/s no causa gran impacto, al aplicar una fuerza equivalente a 250N se obtiene una fuerza resultante de 230,408 N y manteniendo su coeficiente de convección de 2,55W/m2.k siendo 150°C su temperatura máxima el flujo de calor no debe ser mayor a 0,35W/m2 , los resultados obtenidos mediante la simulación concuerdan con los rangos establecidos por la norma.

Abstract: El atavío de las imágenes marianas dolorosas de Sevilla es una manifestación patrimonial a la que la comunidad científica no le ha prestado la atención que merece. Se trata de una seña de identidad dentro de los ritos religiosos y cultuales que forman parte de la Semana Santa de Sevilla, que además se mantiene viva, en continua evolución, acompañando los cambios de vida de la sociedad, los estilos y las modas. A partir del estudio histórico, iconográfico, artístico y del colectivo de personas implicado en su ejecución, se evidencia la necesidad de crear un plan de protección específico que asegure la pervivencia de los valores materiales e inmateriales inherentes a esta tradición cultural en la que las representaciones escultóricas de la Virgen María son revestidas con prendas textiles para presentarlas a sus fieles. Esta tesis plantea la acotación y descripción de este rito, haciendo acopio de distintas parcelas de conocimiento para conformar un corpus que servirá de punto de partida para la consideración de la vestimenta de las vírgenes dolorosas sevillanas como patrimonio inmaterial, más allá del reconocimiento de los bienes materiales implicados. Para ello, es indispensable el trabajo conjunto con el grupo de personas encargadas de realizar esta activad de manera que se impliquen en su correcta conservación preventiva y puesta en valor del patrimonio que custodian. Con este fin, esta investigación incluye el diseño de una herramienta que permita el registro de la propia actividad y que refleje el conocimiento adquirido de su estudio, de manera que se presentaran los datos más relevantes de manera clara y concisa.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of controlled clinical trials were performed between January and March 2021 in the following databases: Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, Cinahl, SciELO, and PEDro. The PEDro scale was used to evaluate the level of evidence of the selected studies. The RevMan 5.4 statistical software was used to obtain the meta-analysis. Eight studies were included, of which five were included in the meta-analysis, involving 195 participants. The NSAIDs used through phonophoresis were ibuprofen, piroxicam, diclofenac sodium, diclofenac diethylammonium, ketoprofen, and methyl salicylate. The overall result for pain showed not-conclusive results, but a trend toward significance was found in favor of the phonophoresis group compared to the control group (standardized mean difference (SMD) = −0.92; 95% confidence interval: −1.87–0.02). Favorable results were obtained for physical function (SMD = −1.34; 95% CI: −2.00–0.68). Based on the selected studies, the application of NSAIDs by phonophoresis is effective in relieving the symptoms of knee OA. Future long-term studies are recommended.

Abstract: The existence of a subpopulation of undifferentiated cells with stem-like properties has been suggested in neuroblastoma tumors, but a definitive biomarker for their successful isolation is missing. Here we describe an in vitro culture system for the enrichment in undifferentiated stem-like tumor cells for subsequent functional assays. We make use of clonal non-adherent cell culture conditions together with cell sorting with specific expression markers. This protocol allows for the differential study of heterogeneous cell population in neuroblastoma tumors. For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Vega et al. Abstract: [EN] The electronic band structure of Au2Pb has a Dirac cone which gaps when undergoing a structural transition into a low temperature superconducting phase. This suggests that the superconducting phase (Tc = 1.1 K) might hold topological properties at the surface. Here we make Scanning Tunneling Microscopy experiments on the surface of superconducting Au2Pb. We measure the superconducting gap and find a sizable superconducting density of states at the Fermi level. We discuss possible origins for this finding in terms of superconductivity induced into surface states.

32. Joint Distribution of Distance and Angles in Finite Wireless Networks

Abstract: Directional beamforming will play a paramount role in 5G and beyond networks in order to combat the higher path losses incurred at millimeter wave bands. Appropriate modeling and analysis of the angles and distances between transmitters and receivers in these networks are thus essential to understand performance and limiting factors. Most existing literature considers either infinite and uniform networks, where nodes are drawn according to a Poisson point process, or finite networks with the reference receiver placed at the origin of a disk. Under either of these assumptions, the distance and azimuth angle between transmitter and receiver are independent, and the angle follows a uniform distribution between $0$ and $2\pi$. Here, we consider a more realistic case of finite networks where the reference node is placed at any arbitrary location. We obtain the joint distribution between the distance and azimuth angle and demonstrate that these random variables do exhibit certain correlation, which depends on the shape of the region and the location of the reference node. To conduct the analysis, we present a general mathematical framework which is specialized to exemplify the case of a rectangular region. We then also derive the statistics for the 3D case where, considering antenna heights, the joint distribution of distance, azimuth and zenith angles is obtained. Abstract: Several studies have shown that consumption of honey is associated with various health benefits. However, there is scarce evidence on whether honeys modify the intestinal microbiota by preventing the inflammatory response in the host. Therefore, the aim of the present work was to study the effect of Melipona (Mel) and Mantequilla (Mtq) honeys, which contain different bioactive compounds and antioxidant capacity on gut microbiota and metabolic consequences in comparison with other sweeteners, in particular sucrose (S) and high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in rats. The results of the present work showed that both honeys have polyphenols, flavonoids, antioxidant and bactericidal activities. Rats fed with both honeys gained less weight and body fat by increasing energy expenditure compared to S or HFCS and increased gene expression of antioxidant enzymes mediated by the transcription factor Nrf2. Analysis of the gut microbiota showed that consumption of both honeys modified the beta-diversity compared to those fed S or HFCS resulting in increased abundance of a specific cluster of bacteria of the Clostridium genus particularly Coprococcus eutactus, Defluviitalea saccharophila, Ruminicoccus gnavus and Ruminicoccus flavefaciens. As a result of the changes in the gut microbiota, there was a decrease in LPS- and TLR4-mediated low-grade inflammation and an increase in sIgA. Consumption of both honeys prevented glucose intolerance and increased adipocyte size compared to S or HFCS. In conclusion, consumption of MtqH or MelH can reduce metabolic endotoxemia by modifying the gut microbiota to prevent glucose intolerance.

35. Disentangling residents' engagement with communities of clinical practice in the workplace

Abstract: Maximising the potential of the workplace as a learning environment entails understanding the complexity of its members' interactions. Although some articles have explored how residents engage with supervisors, nurses and pharmacists individually, there is little research on how residents enter into and engage with the broader community of clinical practice (CoCP). To this end,we designed a constructivist grounded theory study that took place at Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 13 residents from different training levels and disciplines during the first weeks of their new rotations. During the interviews, we used the Pictor technique as a visual aid to collect data. Using iterative data collection and analysis, constant comparison methods and theoretical sampling, we constructed the final results. When entering a CoCP, residents experienced recurring and intertwined processes including: exploring how their goals and interest are aligned with those of the CoCP; identifying the relevant CoCP members in the workplace environment; and understanding how these members could assist their successful engagement with the community's practices. Residents entered a CoCP with the intention of either having a central or a peripheral trajectory in it. The final resident participation and role resulted from negotiations between the resident and the CoCP members. Optimising workplace learning includes being mindful as to how each member of the healthcare team influence residents' engagement on practice, and on understanding the nuances of residents' participatory trajectories while interacting with them. Understanding such nuances could be key to align CoCPs' learning affordances and residents' goals and intentions.

Abstract: Spasticity is one of the most frequent and disabling clinical manifestations of patients with stroke. In clinical practice, stretching is the most widely used physiotherapeutic intervention for this population. However, there is no solid evidence for its effectiveness. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of different types of stretching in reducing post-stroke spasticity. Research was carried out until March 2021 in the following scientific databases: PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and PEDro. The PEDro scale and the Cochrane collaboration tool were used to assess the methodological quality and risk of bias of the studies. Eight articles were selected for qualitative analysis; six of them contributed information to the meta-analysis. No conclusive evidence was obtained on the effectiveness of stretching in terms of treating spasticity and range of motion in patients with stroke. Further research is necessary in order to determine the effectiveness of the use of stretching in this population, considering the different types of stretching (static and dynamic), the time of application, the measurement of the different components of spasticity, and the extrapolation of functional results.

Abstract: La biblioteca del Fondo Antiguo de la Universidad de Sevilla guarda los seis ejemplares sobre los que se basará el siguiente trabajo. Se trata de libros ilustrados e impresos durante los siglos XV, XVI y XVII en la ciudad de Sevilla, correspondiendo dos ejemplares por cada siglo. El objeto de análisis e investigación se centra principalmente en las páginas que muestran ilustraciones, aunque también se hace mención de la técnica de impresión del resto del cuerpo del libro. El estudio solo se realizará sobre dichos ejemplares, no aplicando los resultados de el mismo a toda la producción librera y papelera de estos siglos en la ciudad hispalense.

In clinical practice, stretching is the most widely used physiotherapeutic intervention for this population. However, there is no solid evidence for its effectiveness. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of different types of stretching in reducing post-stroke spasticity. Research was carried out until March 2021 in the following scientific databases: PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and PEDro. The PEDro scale and the Cochrane collaboration tool were used to assess the methodological quality and risk of bias of the studies. Eight articles were selected for qualitative analysis; six of them contributed information to the meta-analysis. No conclusive evidence was obtained on the effectiveness of stretching in terms of treating spasticity and range of motion in patients with stroke. Further research is necessary in order to determine the effectiveness of the use of stretching in this population, considering the different types of stretching (static and dynamic), the time of application, the measurement of the different components of spasticity, and the extrapolation of functional results.

Abstract: Wohlfahrtia magnifica (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) is an obligate myiasis-causing fly of livestock that is widely distributed throughout the Mediterranean basin. A total of 73 683 sheep from 122 flocks in Albacete Province (southeastern [SE] Spain) were examined to detect active traumatic myiasis. The influence of several individual and flock factors on the prevalence was also assessed. The overall flock prevalence of traumatic myiasis was 95.9%, with an individual prevalence of 7.1%. Wohlfahrtia magnifica was identified in all of the positive animals except one that was infested by Lucilia sericata (Diptera: Calliphoridae). Adults of both genders showed a higher risk of infestation than juveniles, whereas males of all ages displayed an increased risk of infestation than females of all ages; the existence of a lambing building on the farm, poor husbandry facilities and the location area were also identified as risk factors. Prevalence was highest in the summer, and the fly season lasted from March to November. Genitalia were the main location of infestation in males (94.4%) and females (76.3%). Our results reveal that traumatic myiasis by W. magnifica is widespread in southeastern Spain, hence preventive measures minimizing the attractiveness of sheep to gravid flies are necessary to avoid health and welfare problems and significant production losses in sheep flocks

Abstract: El objetivo del trabajo fue evaluar la degradabilidad de la materia seca (MS) y de carotenos de la alfalfa (Medicago sativa L) in vitro. Las muestras se incubaron a 39 °C a 0, 12, 24, 48 y 72 h. Los datos se procesaron con un análisis de varianza, prueba de Tukey (p < 0.05). Los resultados del análisis de la alfalfa fueron (%): MS = 24.42, MO = 96.79, PC = 21.22, FDA = 29.11, FDN = 36.24, Cenizas = 3.21 y Carotenos totales = 254.6 mg g−1. El 43% de MS desapareció a las 12 h (P < 0.001), mientras de 12 a 72 h, la MS alcanzó una degradación de 62% (P < 0.001). La degradación de los carotenos de la alfalfa está asociada con el ritmo de la degradación de la MS, el estudio permitió obtener una simulación del rumen de bovinos indicando que la mayor parte de los carotenos desaparecen en menos de 12 h de incubación.&nbsp

Abstract: © 2019 American Association for Cancer Research. The extraordinary activity of high-dose cyclophosphamide against some high-grade lymphomas was described nearly 60 years ago. Here we address mechanisms that mediate cyclophosphamide activity in bona fide human double-hit lymphoma. We show that antibody resistance within the bone marrow (BM) is not present upon early engraftment but develops during lymphoma progression. This resistance required a high tumor:macrophage ratio, was recapitulated in spleen by partial macrophage depletion, and was overcome by multiple, high-dose alkylating agents. Cyclophosphamide induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in BM-resident lymphoma cells in vivo that resulted in ATF4-mediated paracrine secretion of VEGFA, massive macrophage infiltration, and clearance of alemtuzumab-opsonized cells. BM macrophages isolated after cyclophosphamide treatment had increased phagocytic capacity that was reversed by VEGFA blockade or SYK inhibition. Single-cell RNA sequencing of these macrophages identified a “super-phagocytic” subset that expressed CD36/FCGR4. Together, these findings define a novel mechanism through which high-dose alkylating agents promote macrophage-dependent lymphoma clearance. SIGNIFICANCE: mAbs are effective against only a small subset of cancers. Herein, we recapitulate compartment-specific antibody resistance and define an ER stress–dependent mechanism induced by high-dose alkylating agents that promotes phagocytosis of opsonized tumor cells. This approach induces synergistic effects with mAbs and merits testing across additional tumor types.

Abstract: Purpose: Pathogenic variants in SETD1B have been associated with a syndromic neurodevelopmental disorder including intellectual disability, language delay, and seizures. To date, clinical features have been described for 11 patients with (likely) pathogenic SETD1B sequence variants. This study aims to further delineate the spectrum of the SETD1B-related syndrome based on characterizing an expanded patient cohort. Methods: We perform an in-depth clinical characterization of a cohort of 36 unpublished individuals with SETD1B sequence variants, describing their molecular and phenotypic spectrum. Selected variants were functionally tested using in vitro and genome-wide methylation assays. Results: Our data present evidence for a loss-of-function mechanism of SETD1B variants, resulting in a core clinical phenotype of global developmental delay, language delay including regression, intellectual disability, autism and other behavioral issues, and variable epilepsy phenotypes. Developmental delay appeared to precede seizure onset, suggesting SETD1B dysfunction impacts physiological neurodevelopment even in the absence of epileptic activity. Males are significantly overrepresented and more severely affected, and we speculate that sex-linked traits could affect susceptibility to penetrance and the clinical spectrum of SETD1B variants. Conclusion: Insights from this extensive cohort will facilitate the counseling regarding the molecular and phenotypic landscape of newly diagnosed patients with the SETD1B-related syndrome.
