Aquest projecte ha estat creat amb l’objectiu principal d’explicar el procés complet per dissenyar i fabricar les manguetes davanteres i posteriors per a un Formula Student. També ens agradaria que aquest treball fos una guia en un futur per dissenyar unes noves manguetes. El projecte es divideix en quatre parts: La primera part consta de la realització de l’estudi dels tipus de mangueta que es poden fer, els diferents tipus de fabricació, els passos a seguir per fer un pla de treball i quins són els diferents elements que interaccionen amb les manguetes. La segona part recull els càlculs de totes les forces que actuen sobre les manguetes, càlculs necessaris per a la selecció dels rodaments i l’estudi del material que s’adequa a les necessitats. La tercera part és el disseny en programari 3D, focalitzant en realitzar una peça senzilla i, a més a més, es farà la simulació per ordinador. I l’ultima part és el càlcul del cost total del projecte., This project has been created with the main goal of explaining the complete process for designing and manufacturing the front and rear uprights for a racing car to a Formula Student. We would also like to use this as a guide in the future. The project is divided into four parts: The first part consists of the study the types of uprights that can be made, the different types of manufacturing, the steps to follow to make a work plan and what are the different elements that interact with the uprights. The second part includes calculations of all of the forces acting on the uprights. Also, the calculations for the selection of bearings and the study of the material that suits these needs. The third part is to create a design in 3D software, focusing on making a simple piece which will then been validated with computer simulations. And the last part is to calculate the total cost of the project.

Aquest estudi detalla el procés de càlcul de la mangueta del vehicle del Formula Team de la Escola Politècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Vilanova i la Geltrú, n’analitza les condicions de treball i la seva seguretat i n’estudia el pressupost. A partir d’aquí se’n presenten dos dissenys alternatius que exploten les qualitats d’altres mètodes de fabricació com són la impressió 3D i la injecció a pressió, se’n fan també un pressupost i finalment es comparen a nivell mecànic i a nivell econòmic. L’estudi comença amb un anàlisis de l’estat de l’art de la impressió 3D, estudiant-ne els diferents processos, en funció dels materials que poden utilitzar, del cost o de la velocitat a la que treballen. Tot seguit es detalla la ubicació de la mangueta dins el vehicle i s’estudien les forces a les que es veu sotmesa, per finalment fer-ne un estudi d’elements finits i valorar-ne la seguretat. A continuació es procedeix amb els dos redissenys aplicant l’optimització topològica, sobretot en la impressió 3D, per a potenciar les llibertats de forma que ens dona respecte els altres mètodes de fabricació. També es fa un estudi dels possibles materials per a la fabricació de la mangueta i s’escull el més adequat en cada cas. Pel que fa a la peça injectada, se’n fa un estudi de la viabilitat d’injecció en busca de problemes com ara unions fredes o la formació de porositats. Finalment se n’estudia la resistència mitjançant el mètode d’elements finits i es fa un pressupost per als dos dissenys. En la comparació a nivell mecànic veiem els resultats de la optimització topològica que ens ha permès crear peces més segures i sobretot més lleugeres, una propietat molt valuosa en el camp de l’automobilisme de competició en el que es troba la mangueta. Sobretot en la impressió 3D, on hem aconseguit una reducció del pes del 34%, tot augmentant la seguretat de la peça. A nivell econòmic, s’ha analitzat la rendibilitat de les tres peces en funció del volum de la producció, buscant el punt a partir del, This study details the calculating process of the vehicle’s upright of the Formula Team from the “Escola Politècnica Superior d’Enginyeria” de Vilanova i la Geltrú, it analyzes the working conditions and the safety, and it also studies its cost. After that, we proceed to design two alternative designs that explode the qualities of other manufacturing methods as the 3D printing or the high pressure die casting, and finally we also study de costs of those designs to do a comparison in terms of mechanical properties and economic results. The study starts with an analysis of the 3D printing actuality, by studying the different processes in function of the materials they can use, its cost or the velocity they work at. The next step is to detail the situation of the upright inside the vehicle and to study the forces that it receives. At last, we do a Finit Element Modeling study to know its safety. After that we proceed with the two redesigns applying topologic optimization, especially in the 3D printing one, to enhance the topologic freedom that this method gives us in front of the others. Furthermore, we also study all the possible materials that we can use in the manufacturing of the upright and we choose the perfect one. For the injected piece, we analyze the viability of the injection to see if there are any cold unions or porosity. Finally, we study the resistance with the FEM method and the cost of the two designs. In the mechanical comparison we can se the effect of the topologic optimization as we see that our designs are safer and especially lighter than the original one, and the lightness it’s a very valuable property in the field of competition motorsport. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has an established role in the assessment of degenerative musculoskeletal conditions. However, conventional supine MRI findings often correlate poorly with clinical findings. Some patients experience accentuated back pain in the weight-bearing position. Therefore, supine MRI may underestimate the severity of degenerative spine findings. To try and improve the clinical validity of spine imaging, axial loading devices have been used with conventional supine MR imaging to simulate loading of the upright spine. More recently, upright weight-bearing MRI systems (0.25-0.6 T) were introduced, allowing images to be obtained in the standing or seated weight-bearing position and even during upright flexion or extension, rotation, or bending. Some scanners even enable capturing of real-time spinal movement. This review addresses the technical aspects and potential challenges of weight-bearing MRI, both in clinical practice and research.

Actualmente en el departamento de I+D de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Bilbao se está desarrollando un chaleco motorizado cuyo objetivo es ayudar a la realización de ejercicios de recuperación de movimiento a pacientes que han sufrido un ictus, más específicamente los movimientos en los que participa el torso. A raíz de este proyecto, surge la necesidad de crear una estructura, que simule el funcionamiento de un bipedestador, para poder realizar las pruebas del chaleco y de esta manera asegurar el correcto funcionamiento del producto. Este trabajo presenta el diseño y posteriormente la fabricación de una estructura de bipedestación, cuyo fin será mantener a una persona en posición vertical. Especialmente diseñado para pacientes que sufren de pérdida parcial de movilidad. La estructura será fabricada con perfiles cuadrados de aluminio y plástico de impresión 3D., Gaur egun Bilboko Ingeniaritzako Goiko Eskola I+D-etako departamentuan garatzen ari da txaleko motorizatuta bat, zeinen helburua iktusa sufritu duten pazienteentzako mugimendu errekuperazio ariketa errealizazioari laguntzea den, espezifikokiago gorputz-enborrak parte hartzen duen mugimenduak. Proiektu honen ondorioz, agertzen da txalekoko probak egin ahal izateko egitura, bipedestador bateko funtz ionamenduaren alegia egiten duena, produktuaren funtzionamendu zuzena honela ziurtatzeko. As a result of this project, the need arises to create a structure, which simulates the behaviour of a standing frame, to be able to carry out the tests of the vest and in this way to assure the correct behaviour of the product. This work presents the design and later the fabrication of a standing structure, whose purpose will be to keep a person upright. Especially designed for patients suffering from partial loss of mobility. The structure will be manufactured with square aluminium profiles and 3D printing plastic.

Face perception is characterized by configural processing, which depends on visual information in the low spatial frequency (LSF) ranges. However, it is unclear whether LSF content is equally important for face memory. The present study investigated how face information in the low and high SF range plays a role in the configural encoding of faces for short-term and long-term recall. Moreover, we examined how SF-dependent face memorization develops in female adolescence, by comparing children (9-10-year-olds), adolescents (12-13-year-olds and 15-16-year-olds), and young adults (21-32-year-olds). Results show that similar to face perception, delayed face recognition was consistently facilitated by LSF content. However, only adults were able to adequately employ configural LSF cues for short-term recall, analogous to the slow maturation of LSF-driven configural face perception reported by previous studies. Moreover, the insensitivity to face inversion of early adolescents revealed their inadequate use of configural face cues regardless of SF availability, corroborating previous reports on an adolescent "dip" in face recognition. Like face perception, face recognition has a protracted maturational course. In (female) adolescence, sensitivity to configural LSF cues is developed, which aids not only configural face perception but also face memorization.

The master thesis was carried out as a part of the project Ecoist at Sirgomez Engineering AB, with the goal of reducing the complexity and mass of the current front suspension upright by designing a new upright from one piece, whilst also considering other aspects such as reliability and manufacturability. In order to achieve this, topology optimization was used. The inputs for the optimization needed from external programs were mainly two things; the loads acting on the upright and a generalized geometry allowing material to be removed. In order to generate the loads acting on the upright, a multibody model of the Ecoist vehicle was built in Adams/Car, consisting of several different subsystems. The full vehicle assembly was then used for a number of different dynamic drive cases, from which the reaction forces and moments acting on the upright were exported. From all those different load steps, one was chosen as representative for the worst case, which was then used in the optimization. The generalized geometry was created in Solidworks, using the old upright assembly as reference. The idea was to make it take up as much space as possible without interfering with the surrounding components. The important parts of the geometry, such as the contact surfaces and holes were kept the same, in order to be able to connect the adjacent parts without changing them. The topology optimization was then performed in Ansys Mechanical with key areas, such as the contact surfaces and holes, excluded from the optimization since they need to retain the same size and shape. The objective function was to minimize the mass whilst the only constraint was a predefined stress limit not to be exceeded of 125 MPa, half of the yield stress for an arbitrary linear elastic material (steel in this case). Afterwards, the optimized geometry had to be smoothed in SpaceClaim in order to obtain a useful geometry, since the optimization output featured undesirably rough surfaces and sharp edges. Recent evidence suggests stronger holistic processing for own-race faces may underlie the own-race advantage in face memory. In previous studies Caucasian participants have demonstrated larger holistic processing effects for Caucasian over Asian faces. However, Asian participants have consistently shown similar sized effects for both Asian and Cau- casian faces. We investigated two proposed explanations for the holistic processing of other-race faces by Asian participants: (1) greater other-race exposure, (2) a general global processing bias. Holistic processing was tested using the part-whole task. Participants were living in predominantly own-race environments and other-race contact was evalu- ated. Despite reporting significantly greater contact with own-race than other-race people, Chinese participants displayed strong holistic processing for both Asian and Caucasian upright faces. In addition, Chinese participants showed no evidence of holistic processing for inverted faces arguing against a general global processing bias explanation. Caucasian participants, in line with previous studies, displayed stronger holistic processing for Cau- casian than Asian upright faces. For inverted faces there were no race-of-face differences. Fendering systems are used to absorb the kinetic energy of watercraft during berthing operations and to provide a safe minimum standoff distance between moored vessels and other marine structures such as docks, piers, and the like. The principal function of tendering systems is to prevent damage caused by direct contact of the watercraft's hull to other watercraft, docks, piers, and the like. In particular, berthing forces can result in impact and abrasion damage to a watercraft's hull or other marine structures. A deployable and inflatable/deflatable tendering apparatus capable of providing protection for watercrafts and docks is presented. The apparatus has an inflatable cylindrical body, an outer collar body, and a water reservoir with an inflating and deflating means. The collar body circumferentially surrounds the cylindrical body, and is made of abrasion resistant materials and protects the cylindrical body from punctures, tearing and abuse. The collar body may be inflatable or filled with foam-like material. The reservoir comprises a one-way valve, a series of ballasts and is attached to the cylindrical body and is expandable to provide stabilization of the tendering apparatus. The tendering apparatus can be deflated for storage.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate obstetric sphincter lacerations after a kneeling or sitting position at second stage of labor in a multivariate risk analysis model. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two hundred and seventy-one primiparous women with normal pregnancies and spontaneous labor were randomized, 138 to a kneeling position and 133 to a sitting position. Medical data were retrieved from delivery charts and partograms. Risk factors were tested in a multivariate logistic regression model in a stepwise manner. RESULTS: The trial was completed by 106 subjects in the kneeling group and 112 subjects in the sitting group. There were no significant differences with regard to duration of second stage of labor or pre-trial maternal characteristics between the two groups. Obstetrical sphincter tears did not differ significantly between the two groups but an intact perineum was more common in the kneeling group (p<0.03) and episiotomy (mediolateral) was more common in the sitting group (p<0.05). Three grade IV sphincter lacerations occurred in the sitting group compared to none in the kneeling group (NS). Multivariate risk analysis indicated that prolonged duration of second stage of labor and episiotomy were associated with an increased risk of third- or fourth-degree sphincter tears (p<0.01 and p<0.05, respectively). Delivery posture, maternal age, fetal weight, use of oxytocin, and use of epidural analgesia did not increase the risk of obstetrical anal sphincter lacerations in the two upright postures. CONCLUSION: Obstetrical anal sphincter lacerations did not differ significantly between a kneeling or sitting upright delivery posture. Episiotomy was more common after a sitting delivery posture, which may be associated with an increased risk of anal sphincter lacerations. Upright delivery postures may be encouraged in healthy women with normal, full-term pregnancy.

Aims The presence of far field R wave sensing (FFRS) is usually evaluated in patients with dual chamber pacemakers in supine position. To check if this approach is valid, we tested whether FFRS is consistent both in terms of amplitude threshold and timing characteristics in different daily life conditions. Methods and Results In 42 patients with a DDD pacemaker. the presence. amplitude threshold and timing parameters of FFRS were therefore determined. with patients supine. standing and at peak exercise. Measurements were made of paced and sensed R waves in unipolar and bipolar sensing configurations (at peak exercise only paced R waves and bipolar sensing). After paced R waves (bipolar sensing) amplitude thresholds/time of FFRS after Vpace were 0.32 +/- 0.18 mV/119-139 ms (supine). 0.32 +/- 0.16 mV/114-130 ms (upright) and 0.27 +/- 0.13 mV/121-136 ms (exercise) - with unipolar sensing. this was 0.49 +/- 0.27mV/101-150 ms (Supine). 0.51 +/- 0.29 mV/100-144 ms (upright). After sensed R waves (bipolar sensing) amplitude thresholds/time of FFRS after Vsense were 0.27 +/- 0.18 mV/ 24-42 ms (Supine). 0.29 +/- 0.16 mV/18 to 41 ms (upright) - with unipolar sensing. thresholds were 0.59 +/- 0.32 mV/3-50 ins (supine). 0.59 +/- 0.36 mV/2-58 ms (upright). Conclusion given the lower FFRS thresholds with bipolar sensing. bipolar sensing is superior in avoiding FFRS compared with Unipolar sensing. No differences were found in terms of amplitude thresholds and timing characteristics with patients supine. standing and at peak exercise. Diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem těhlice pro Formuli Student, která je topologic-ky optimalizovaná a aditivně vyrobená technologií Selective Laser Melting. Materiá-lem pro výrobu je hliníková slitina AlSi10Mg, která má horší mechanické vlastnosti než tradičně používané vysokopevnostní slitiny. Proto bylo cílem navrhnout pomocí topologické optimalizace díl, který bude mít srovnatelné vlastnosti jako díl frézovaný. Metodou konečných prvků byla provedena deformačně napěťová analýza a byla sta-novena bezpečnost a maximální deformace. Byl vyroben prototyp a pomocí optické digitalizace byla provedena rozměrová kontrola, která prokázala přesnost výroby. Pevnostní výpočty byly ověřeny pomocí speciálního testovacího zařízení a fotogram-metrického měření. Tím byla ověřena její bezpečnost a funkčnost., This diploma thesis deals with design of axle carrier for Formula Student. The axle carrier is topologically optimized and additively manufactured with Selective Laser Melting technology. Material for its production is aluminium alloy AlSi10Mg, which has worse mechanical properties than commonly used high-strength alloys. Therefore the aim was, by using topology optimization, to design a component, which would have comparable properties with milled component. The stress strain analysis was carried out by the finite element method and maximum deformation and safety coef-ficients were acquired. The prototype was made and its dimensions were controlled by optical digitization, which proved accuracy of manufacturing. The strength calcu-lations were verified by special testing device and photogrammetry measurement. The load during the tests was 20 % higher than in the analysis and no limit state was observed. This verified its safety and functionality.

Tato práce řeší návrh odlehčených předních těhlic pneumobilu Javelin pomocí topologické optimalizace a jejich následnou výrobu aditivní technologií Selective Laser Melting. Materiálem, ze kterého jsou těhlice vyrobeny, je hliníková slitina AlSi10Mg. Topologicky optimalizované díly mají splňovat minimální bezpečnost 2, proto jsou návrhy podrobeny MKP napěťové a deformační analýze, při které je tato bezpečnost ověřena a stanovena maximální deformace. Vzhledem k parametrům brzdové soustavy byly navrženy dvě nesymetrické těhlice. Přesnost výroby byla ověřena prostřednictvím optické digitalizace. Obrobené těhlice byly připevněny na pneumobil a otestovány přímo na vozidle. Při testech ani následných závodech nedošlo k žádnému meznímu stavu a ukázaly se tak jako funkční. Hmotnost levé těhlice byla snížena z 1 609 g na 758 g, pravá byla odlehčena na 741 g., This thesis deals with the design of lightweight front uprights of pneumobile Javelin using topology optimization, followed by manufacturing by additive technology Selective Laser Melting. Aluminium alloy AlSi10Mg was used. Topology optimized parts should have met the requirement of minimal safety factor equal to 2, therefore the stress strain analysis was performed using FEM. The maximal deformation was determined and the safety factor obtained. Two unsymmetrical uprights were designed due to parameters of the brake system. The precision of manufacturing was verified by optical digitization. Machined uprights were mounted on the pneumobile and tested directly on the vehicle. No limit states were observed during testing and subsequent races, so they proved to be fully functional. Weight of the left upright was reduced from 1 609 g to 758 g, the right one was lightened to 741 g.

Car consist of tubular frame, front and rear double wishbone suspension, braking system and conceptual design of the fairing. These are the basic of this thesis. For the completeness of the design, the location of the crew and the placement of the components inside the frame are also proposed. Adams Car 2016, Autodesk Inventor 2016, Ansys Workbench 18.1 were used for designing, testing, simulation and calculations. Designed T1 category race car meets International Automobile Federation (FIA) technical standards and safety regulatons.

Diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem těhlice pro Formuli Student, která je topologic-ky optimalizovaná a aditivně vyrobená technologií Selective Laser Melting. Materiá-lem pro výrobu je hliníková slitina AlSi10Mg, která má horší mechanické vlastnosti než tradičně používané vysokopevnostní slitiny. Proto bylo cílem navrhnout pomocí topologické optimalizace díl, který bude mít srovnatelné vlastnosti jako díl frézovaný. Metodou konečných prvků byla provedena deformačně napěťová analýza a byla sta-novena bezpečnost a maximální deformace. Byl vyroben prototyp a pomocí optické digitalizace byla provedena rozměrová kontrola, která prokázala přesnost výroby. Pevnostní výpočty byly ověřeny pomocí speciálního testovacího zařízení a fotogram-metrického měření. Při testech bylo aplikováno také o 20 % větší zatížení, při kterém nebyl pozorován žádný mezní stav. Tím byla ověřena její bezpečnost a funkčnost., This diploma thesis deals with design of axle carrier for Formula Student. The axle carrier is topologically optimized and additively manufactured with Selective Laser Melting technology. Material for its production is aluminium alloy AlSi10Mg, which has worse mechanical properties than commonly used high-strength alloys. Therefore the aim was, by using topology optimization, to design a component, which would have comparable properties with milled component. The stress strain analysis was carried out by the finite element method and maximum deformation and safety coef-ficients were acquired. The prototype was made and its dimensions were controlled by optical digitization, which proved accuracy of manufacturing. The strength calcu-lations were verified by special testing device and photogrammetry measurement. The load during the tests was 20 % higher than in the analysis and no limit state was observed. This verified its safety and functionality.

Práce se zabývá návrhem konstrukce zavěšení kola lehkého závodního vozidla kategorie Formule Student, konkrétně návrhem těhlice, náboje kola a dalších dílů sestavy. Konstrukce je zpracována v softwaru PTC Creo 2.0. Uvádí postup výpočtu kritických zátěžných stavů vozidla, výpočet trvanlivosti ložisek a výpočet průběhu zatížení kol během jízdy. Dále je zde uvedena napěťová analýza konstrukce, provedená v Ansys Workbench a analýza únavové životnosti., The thesis consists of rear wheel suspension design for light Formula Student racing car, especially design of upright, wheel hub and other parts of the assembly. Design was done in CAD software PTC Creo 2.0. Thesis also mentions calculation of critical wheel loads, wheel bearing life calculation and wheel loads during the race as well as stress analysis in Ansys Workbench and fatigue life analysis.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá konstrukční úpravou konkrétní těhlice v závislosti na změně brzdiče za nesériový. Je zaměřena na tvorbu a následnou úpravu 3D modelu vycházejícího z rozměrů a tvaru reálné těhlice získaných pomocí 3D skenu. Pro upravovanou část je provedena pevnostní kontrola pomocí MKP a výsledky jsou porovnány s hodnotami původní těhlice., This master´s thesis deals with design modification of specific upright in response to exchange the caliper for non-series one. It focuses on the creation and subsequent adjustment of the 3D model based on obtained size and shape of real upright by using 3D scan. For the editing part is conducted the strength test by using FEM and the results are compared with the values of the original upright.

Tato diplomová práce se bude zabývat návrhem a konstrukcí přední těhlice závodního vozidla kategorie Formule Student. Při návrhu bude využito topologické optimalizace a MKP analýzy jízdních stavů při zatížení jak od kola vozidla, tak od prvků přední nápravy. Cílem práce je navrhnout těhlici s vyšší tuhostí a minimálním rozdílem hmotnosti oproti loňskému modelu. Závěrem bude těhlice porovnána s minulými návrhy jak z hlediska bezpečnosti, tak hmotnosti a ceny., Master’s thesis focused on design and construction of front uprights for Formula Student racing car. Topology optimization and FEM analysis will be used to design the uprights with higher stiffness and minimal weight difference compared to the last model. In the FEM analysis loads will be applied from wheel side and from suspension side. Design of the upright then will be compared to the previous designs especially to safety factor, weight and cost.

Casting method used for the purpose of this thesis was selected by review of relevant scientific literature. The upright was then structurally designed and strength calculations were made. Main criterion of the design is minimum compliance with meeting the required weight. Final design is compared with the design of the previous generation of vehicle.

Jde o navázání na moji bakalářskou práci s názvem „Návrh uložení předního kola závodního vozidla“. V práci je rozebrána konstrukce těhlic posledních ročníků a jejich součástí. Následně je vytvořen model s pomocí topologické optimalizace a výsledný produkt zatížen pomocí MKP analýzy. Závěrem je srovnána těhlice s minulými návrhy a její frézovanou náhradou., Master’s thesis is focused on a design of front uprights for Dragon 8 racing car of TU Brno Racing Formula Student team. This thesis follows up the bachelor’s thesis called “Race Car Front Wheel Carrier Design”. Discussion about team’s recent upright and component designs is followed by a model creation with use of topology optimization. Final geometry is simulated in FEA software. Design of the upright is then compared to the previous designs and also to its substitute produced with milling machining process.
