Immer mehr Verantwortliche in Bibliotheken beschäftigen sich vor dem Hintergrund des aktuellen Paradigmenwandels mit der Frage der grundsätzlichen Ausrichtung ihrer Organisation: Wie stellen wir fest, ob wir auf dem richtigen Weg sind? Was sind passende Ziele? Was müssen wir tun, um diese Ziele zu erreichen? Strategieprozesse helfen bei der richtigen Definition der Ausgangslage, der Entwicklung von inhaltlichen „Leitplanken“, konkreter Ziele und der entsprechenden Maßnahmen. Der Beitrag richtet sich insbesondere an Fachkolleginnen und -kollegen, die sich zunächst grundsätzlich über Merkmale und Bausteine von Strategieprozessen informieren möchten. Thematisiert werden unter anderem die Umwelt-, SWOT- und Stakeholder-Analyse, Vision, Mission und das Leitbild sowie die Definition von Handlungsfeldern und Zielen. Aufgrund der Vielfalt bestehender Modelle und Beratungsansätze wurde bewusst eine Auswahl getroffen, die keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit erhebt., Against the background of the current paradigm shift, more and more library managers are looking into the question of the fundamental orientation of their organisation: How do we determine whether we are on the right track? What are adequate goals? What do we need to do to achieve these goals? Strategy processes help with the correct definition of the starting position, the development of content-related “guard rails”, concrete goals and the corresponding measures. This article is particularly aimed at colleagues who would first like to learn more about the characteristics and building blocks of strategy processes. The topics covered include environmental, SWOT and stakeholder analysis, vision and mission statement as well as the definition of fields of action and goals. Diese Arbeit behandelt das Thema der SWOT (Stärken, Schwächen, Chancen undRisiken) - Analyse. Dabei wird zunächst erläutert welchen geschichtlichenHintergrund die Analyse aufweist. Darauf folgt eine allgemeine Definition derSWOT - Analyse und wo diese einzuordnen ist. Im Weiteren werden verschiedeneMethoden vorgestellt mit Hilfe derer unternehmensinterne Stärken undSchwächen sowie externe Chancen und Risikeneruiert werden können. ImPraxisteil der Arbeit werden unterschiedliche Fallstudien präsentiert um einenEinblick darüber zu bekommen wir Unternehmen eine solche SWOT - Analysedurchführen.*****This thesis is devoted to the subject of the SWOT (strenghts, weaknesses,opportunities and threats) - analysis. First, the historical background of theanalysis will be outlined, followed by a general definition of the SWOT - analysisand where it finds its use. Furthermore, some methods will be describedwhichcan be used to identify internal strengths and weaknesses as well as externalchances and threats. The practical part showcases different case studies tohighlight how companies use the SWOT analysis to their advantage.

The increased use of agricultural inputs like fertilizers and pesticides led to wide-spread negative environmental impacts of agriculture in the North China Plain (NCP). The context of this research is that, due to continued growth of the population and the economy, the demand for agricultural products in China is gradually rising. However resources like land and water are scarce in China. Therefore new strategies need to be developed which do not put additional strains on the environment but meet the expected demand. The NCP is regarded as China?s most important agricultural region. This work aims at describing and discussing the environmental effects of agriculture in the NCP. The extent of these environmental impacts is presented. An essential part of this work is the in-depth description and analysis of the current cropping systems and farming practices, which is based on the findings a household survey. The central hypothesis of this work is that a change of the management systems is able to meet the production goals, to achieve a higher input-output efficiency and to reduce negative environmental impacts. Embedded in the objectives of this work, the main goals are the description of current agricultural practices and related negative environmental impacts, the definition of agro-environmental management and policy measures, impact analysis of management and policy measures and the development of suggestions for further research. The second chapter aims at introducing the background of this research, i.e. the environmental impacts of agriculture. Hereby the focus lies on the introduction of relevant and characteristic farming practices and on the related institutional setting. Then the processes of data acquisition and data handling for this work are described. The descriptive analysis presents the findings from a survey in July 2008; it aims at describing the characteristics of the surveyed farm households. "This paper examines how reforms of the regulatory business environment inspired by the World Bank's Doing Business reports impact the economic participation of women in developing countries. It focuses on gender-related impacts of four business environment reforms in areas of 1) Obtaining Credit, 2) Registering Property, 3) Starting a Business and 4) Employing Workers. The paper begins by describing the methodology of the Doing Business reports and how the suggested reforms would lead to private sector growth. Then, using an institutional economics framework, it traces women's most binding constraints in areas of credit, land titling, business start-up and female employment that the Doing Business failed to capture. Discussions show how Doing Business-style reforms in the four areas mentioned create ambiguous impacts for women entrepreneurs by either leading to increased economic opportunities or reinforcing constraints and opening up areas for exploitation. The paper emphasises that although most of the binding constraints for female economic participation take root at the level of customs, norms and beliefs - it is possible for the government to remove discrimination in the private sector by creating informed, gender-sensitive reforms."
