Avui dia, a causa dels diferents sistemes lingüístics i ubicacions geogràfiques, sorgeixen barreres culturals naturals entre les persones. a més, al costat del disseny de fonts no té una perspectiva des de la dimensió temporal i del sistema d'escriptura. Per tant, aquest projecte presenta un sistema interactiu per a la tipografia xinesa i llatina. Aquest sistema inclou una extensa plataforma digital, cinc aplicacions mòbils i una sèrie de derivacions comercials. La plataforma digital permet que els usuaris comprenguin l'evolució de les lletres llatines i els caràcters xinesos des de l'antiguitat fins al present i la creació tipogràfica basada en això. Les cinc aplicacions divideixen les funcions de la plataforma digital, respectivament a l'evolució de l'alfabet llatí, l'evolució dels caràcters xinesos, la creació tipogràfica per a usuaris principiants, la creació tipogràfica per als mitjans i la creació tipogràfica per als experts. A més, la sèrie de derivació comercial inclou carcasses de mòbils, bosses i samarretes que es pot trobar a les aplicacions. Furthermore, on the font design side it lacks a perspective from the temporal dimension and the writing system. Therefore, this project presents an interactive system for Chinese and Latin typography. This system includes an extensive digital platform, five mobile applications and a series of commercial derivations. The digital platform allows users to understand the evolution of Latin letters and Chinese characters from ancient times to the present and the typographic creation based on this. The five applications divide the functions of the digital platform respectively into the evolution of the Latin alphabet, the evolution of Chinese characters, typesetting for beginner users, typesetting for medium users, and typesetting for experts. In addition, the commercial branch series includes phone cases, bags and T-shirts that can be found in the applications. The contribution would be the exploration of intercultural typographic evolution, the highly interactive nature of learning and creation, multifunctionality in educational tools and games, and innovation in typography. Estat de l'art i objectiu. El principal objectiu del present treball és estudiar la freqüència de l'aparició de les lletres en un text segons la seva llegibilitat. Aquesta aparició es durà a terme des de dos punts de vista. En primer lloc, mitjançant l'estadística bàsica: freqüència relativa, desviació estàndard, el coeficient de variància i la variància. En segon lloc, mitjançant els anominats índexs de poder de la teoria de jocs. Segons el nostre coneixement, per primera vegada s’associarà un joc a un text i s’analitzarà la influència o potència de cada lletra mitjançant aquests índexs de poder de la teoria de jocs. Donant lloc així, a una nova aplicació de la teoria de jocs. Metodologia. En aquest treball es realitza l’estudi de 5 textos per a cadascun dels tres nivells de dificultat (o llegibilitat), nivell fàcil, normal o difícil, segons els denominats índexs de INFLESZ i de Flesch-Szigriszt. Per a cadascun d’aquests textos es fa una anàlisi estadística bàsica (freqüència relativa, desviació estàndard, etc…) de l'aparició de les lletres. Posteriorment, s’utilitzaran els anomenats índexs de poder de la teoria de jocs per a estudiar i classificar la potència o influència de cada lletra en els textos esmentats. En el nostre cas usarem un dels índexs més coneguts, l'índex de Shapley-Shubik. Segons el nostre coneixement, és la primera vegada que s’aplicarà aquest índex de poder en l’àmbit de la llegibilitat donant lloc, d’aquesta manera, a una nova aplicació de la teoria de jocs. Resultats. Els resultats indiquen que, en general, tant en les freqüències relatives com en els nous jocs certes lletres tenen major influència per a tot tipus de text independentment del seu nivell de dificultat. Encara que els resultats són similars, aquest estudi obre la porta a noves aplicacions de la teoria de jocs, mitjançant els índexs de poder, per a estudiar textos, tipografies, etc., Estado del arte y objetivo. Posteriormente, se utilizarán los denominados índices de poder de la teoría de juegos para estudiar y clasificar la potencia o influencia de cada letra en los textos mencionados. En nuestro caso usaremos uno de los índices más conocidos, el índice de Shapley-Shubik. Según nuestro conocimiento, es la primera vez que se aplican este índice de poder en el ámbito de la legibilidad dando lugar, por consiguiente, a una nueva aplicación de la teoría de juegos. Resultados. Los resultados indican que, en general, tanto en las frecuencias relativas como en los nuevos juegos ciertas letras tienen mayor influencia para todo tipo de texto independientemente de su nivel de dificultad. Aunque los resultados son similares, este estudio abre la puerta a nuevas aplicaciones de la teoría de juegos, mediante los índices de poder, para estudiar textos, tipografías, etc., State of the art and objective. The main objective of the present work is to study the frequency of occurrence of letters in a text according to its legibility. This occurrence will be approached from two points of view. L’objectiu del treball és experimentar si la tipografia Optotipica, creada amb l’afany de crear cartes de lectures d’agudesa visual i de lectura alhora, és equivalent a la C de Landolt. L’estudi s’ha dut a terme seguint les directrius de la norma ISO 8596:2017 per a la correlació d’optotips. S’ha analitzat una mostra de26 pacients (52 ulls) amb AV decimal igual o superior a 1.0,amb neutralització o sense,en condicions fotòpiques d’alt contrasta 5 metres de distància d’observació.Per a cada pacient, ull i optotip s’ha representat la freqüència d’encert enfront del logaritme decimal del detall crític del test o gruix del traç. La corba de freqüències d’encert acumulada obtinguda s’ha ajustat per una funció logística, fet que ha permès extreure’n el llindar(freqüència d’encert del 50%)i calcular-ne l’equivalent logMAR.Finalment, s’ha calculat la mitjana del llindar per a l’optotip estàndard i per a l’optotip d’estudi. La diferència entre ambdues mitjanes és de 0.012 unitats logarítmiques, molt per sota del 0.05 que dicta la norma.També s’ha calculat la desviació estàndard global dels valors logMAR obtinguts per a cadascuna de les dues classes d’optotips. Així doncs, s’observa que la desviació estàndard que presenten els resultats obtinguts amb la tipografia Optotipica no és major que 1.5 vegades la desviació estàndard dels resultats obtinguts amb l’anell de Landolt.Com que les condicions imposades per la norma pel que fa a la diferència entre el valors logMARi la relació entre desviacions estàndard estan per sota dels nivells admesos per la norma, podem afirmar que la caixa alta de la tipografia Optotipica és equivalent a l’anell de Landolt pel que fa a la mesura de l’agudesa visual

Clínicament, l’agudesa visual es defineix com la capacitat de reconèixer formes o objectes o la seva orientació. Matemàticament, es defineix com l’inversa de l’angle de resolució del detall més petit de l’objecte que pot ser percebut. L’anell de Landolt és l’optotip estàndard per a la mesura de l’agudesa visual en la majoria de països d’Europa. Sigui quin sigui l’optotip que es vol desenvolupar per aquesta mesura, ha de ser calibrat enfront a l’anell de Landolt. L’objectiu de l’estudi és averiguar l’equivalència entre la tipografia Optotipica_2 i l’estàndard, seguint les recomanacions per a la mesura estàndard de l’agudesa visual del Comitè Internacional d’Oftalmologia (ICO 1984), així com les de la norma UNE-EN ISO 8596:2009. S’ha avaluat l’agudesa visual monocular a 13 subjectes d’edats compreses entre 18 i 35 anys, en condicions fotòpiques i amb optotips d’alt contrast. Ambdós grups (anell de Landolt i Optotipica_2) de dimensions 5s x 5s, han estat presentats a una distància de 5 metres. El punt d’igualació subjectiva (PIS) per a l’anell de Landolt és de 0,6724± 0,116 unitats logarítmiques, mentre que el de la nova tipografia, 0,6127±0,1616. Entre aquests valors hi ha una diferència de 0,0598±0,116 unitats logarítmiques. Amb aquests resultats s’ha determinat que no es pot afirmar que a mides iguals, l’anell de Landolt i l’Optotipica_2 siguin equivalents, per a la mostra. No obstant, no hi ha motius per descartar l’equivalència a nivell de població, per a una mesura estandarditzada de l’agudesa visual.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word diversity is understood as “the condition of being different”. Coming from to live in New Zealand for over a decade, I’ve had multicultural experiences by living in the significant multicultural atmosphere where customs and traditions of different races and ethnicities live together. Living in the same condition might start to isolate cultural value at the current era. In the article “Workforce America” by Marilyn Loden and Judy Rosener describe a crucial mistake many people make with “race” and “culture” is to mistakenly think of the meaning of these two to be the same when we talk about diversity reinforces stereotypes and promotes “race” and “culture” as an "us versus them" (Loden & Rosener, 1991). Loden and Rosener also demonstrate value of diversity through four difference dimensions of diversity consist of personality, internal dimensions, external dimensions, and organisational dimensions. Interestingly, according to these dimensions of diversity, primary dimensions are things that we cannot change, which include age, race, ethnicity, gender, physical qualities, and sexual orientation. These are uniquely categorised described as “ethnicity and race identification” (Loden & Rosener, 1991). To draw a connection of these diversity of dimensions to the area of typography and letterform, French philosopher Jacques Derrida describes aesthetics of writing in his 1967 book, Of Grammatology, Derrida wrote against this arbitrary distinction between speech and writing, and emphasized on how written symbols are also legitimate signifiers in themselves. Summary: Based on extensive research into the development of Roman text typefaces from the middle of the incunabula (circa 1475) to the end of the 17th Century when the second major wave of Roman text types began, this thesis will document the design and production of a text typeface using many of the developments of the period. Because the incunabula saw the bringing together of the miniscules and majuscules (upper- and lowercases) for use on a single page and because for the first time in Western history the exact same letter form could be used in many printed works at once, we have, now frozen in our visual language, letter forms conforming to set but often contradictory rules of rhythm and order, size and proportion. I will explore these rules and contradictions in the development of a typeface and will, on occasion, break them, developing rules of my own., Dorothy F. Robert Bridges of Charles Scribner's Sons sends President Roosevelt a sample of the type to be used in printing his latest manuscript Outdoor Pastimes . Charles Scribner's Sons plans to make the book very fine with gilt pages and the first edition will cost three dollars.

These are metal patterns for the Bixler typeface. Michael Bixler studied typography with Professor Alexander Lawson in the RIT School of Printing. He was inspired by the classic letterpress typefaces of the Italian Renaissance and in 1968 – 69 designed his own typeface to adhere to this aesthetic. To do this, first he drew all the characters of the alphabet in pen and ink. These included designs for the upper and lowercase, plus the numerals and punctuation. Then, the designs were converted to engraved metal patterns through a photographic intermediary step. The pattern letterforms were used with a pantographic router to cut the small brass moulds or matrices. For the final step in the typeface production, Bixler fitted each brass matrix on a Monotype typecasting machine that injected molten lead into their recesses. The hot lead solidified almost instantly and a piece of metal printing type was cast. The casting process was repeated thousands of times for each character to obtain a full case of type —enough for setting multiple pages of text. The Bixler typeface only exists for use at the couple’s letterfoundry.

Led by John Marder of the Chicago Type Foundry and Arthur Brower of the Union Type Foundry, several other type founders created a combined company of twenty-three plants scattered across the United States, which was incorporated by November 1892. Annenberg dates this catalog as approximately 1901, but also notes that a former ATF type manager dated its issue as 1905., "Notice! All the cuts shown in this book are not carried by the different houses, but they will be furnished with reasonable promptness. Many of the cuts are shown in the American Line Type Book, but the prices are not the same, as this book was printed previously. The American Type Founders Company (ATF) was formed out of a business necessity. Led by John Marder of the Chicago Type Foundry and Arthur Brower of the Union Type Foundry, several other type founders created a combined company of twenty-three plants scattered across the United States, which was incorporated by November 1892. This 1899 catalog, which is not in Annenberg, includes primarily type metal and a small amount of ornaments. It also includes an illustration of a bookbinders' lettering pallet for sale on page 2.

The Keystone Type Foundry was established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by Francis Wayland Ayer in 1888. Ayer had previously owned the advertising agency N. W. Ayer & Son and acquired a printer's supply house, the Mather Manufacturing Company. This catalog chiefly contains type metal with display faces with a very small set of ornaments, rule, and equipment.
