This study aimed to determine how self-efficacy affects teacher task performance in SMP Negeri Bengkulu Selatan and how knowledge affects task performance. The quality of an agency can be seen from the task performance of its employees. Task performance can be improved by various aspects, such as fulfilling desires, work needs, individual and job compatibility, and formal and informal relationships with colleagues. The SmartPLS4 application was used for the SEM analysis method in this study. The sample was 110 teachers from all public junior high schools in South Bengkulu. The test results show that the self-efficacy variable has a positive and significant influence on the task performance of each teacher. In contrast, the knowledge variable does not significantly influence a teacher's task performance. The results showed a t-value of 5.387 > 1.96 and a p-value of 0.000 < 0.050, thus indicating that the self-efficacy variable significantly positively affects task performance. The study results show that the t-value of 1.206 < 1.96 and the p-value of 0.228 < 0.50 shows that the knowledge variable does not positively affect the task performance variable. This research aims to inspire teachers by considering that self-efficacy and knowledge can affect task performance individually and institutionally.

This study aims to determine how the influence of person-job fit on a teacher's job embeddedness, the influence of person-job fit on a teacher's task performance, and the influence of job embeddedness on the task performance of public junior high school teachers in Bengkulu City. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The data were then analyzed descriptively to answer the research questions. One hundred fourteen respondents from various public junior high schools in Bengkulu City were taken randomly. The data collection tool used is a questionnaire instrument. Results revealed a noteworthy positive correlation between person-job fit and job embeddedness (t=10.876, p<0.05), as well as a significant positive effect on the task performance of teachers (t=5.223, p<0.05). Conversely, job embeddedness did not significantly affect teacher task performance (t=0.027, p>0.05). This study underscores the importance of prioritizing institutional leaders prioritizing employee needs fulfilment, as it serves as a vital support mechanism for enhancing task performance.

Acute mental fatigue can negatively affect cognitive performance This study investigates how different auditory interventions can influence the degree of mental fatigue during a cognitively demanding task, in this case, a 16-minute T-LoadDback test designed to induce mental fatigue. 27 healthy individuals were recruited and randomly assigned to one of three groups. One group listened to self-selected music, as it is well documented that listening to preferred music can increase dopamine levels, potentially mitigating mental fatigue. Another group listened to a 40 Hz binaural beat, known to improve concentration and increase energy. The third group served as a control group and conducted the task in silence. Subjective measurements of mental fatigue were obtained before and after the T-LoadDback test using a Visual Analog Scale for Fatigue(VAS-F), while objective data on mental fatigue were collected through the results of a 5-minute Corsi Block-tapping test and heart rate variability(HRV), both measured before and after the main task. The results indicated no significant pre-post differences for the VAS-F scores, Corsi test performance, or HRV, suggesting that mental fatigue was not successfully induced in the current experiment.The VAS-F scores showed no significant main effects or group differences, despite notable individual variations. Although both the music and 40 Hz groups outperformed the control group in the Corsi test, no differences were observed between the intervention groups themselves. Similarly, HRV data showed no significant changes, indicating minimal effects on autonomic nervous system activity. These results suggest that while individual preferences in auditory stimuli, such as ambient music, might influence fatigue levels, the overall effectiveness of such interventions remains inconclusive.

With the global spread of English as a lingua franca (ELF), T&I professionals and other multilinguals are increasingly exposed to English produced by non-native speakers. So far, research has focused primarily on the use of ELF in dialogical settings whereas the effects on language processing in monological settings are still under-researched. In a large research project, we addressed this gap with a multi-method approach. In this presentation, we draw on performance data and self-report data collected from professional conference interpreters, professional translators and teachers of English as a foreign language at secondary level. The participants were asked to process two texts on different topics: One of them in its original version produced by an ELF speaker and the other one in an edited version that conformed to English conventions. The texts and versions were counterbalanced for order. Depending on their professional background, they performed one of the following tasks: simultaneous interpreting, translation or content recall, respectively. Subsequently, they rated the comprehensibility of the texts on a six-point Likert scale. Based on the assumption that non-native speakers' texts are less comprehensible, we expect to find a negative effect of ELF on task performance and self-reported comprehensibility in all three groups. In line with the CTIS focus on the triangulation of methods, our presentation of results will show how the combination of self-reported and performance data contributes to an understanding of the effects of non-native English input on language processing.

The purpose of this study was to analyze through a sequential model the underlying mechanisms connecting transformational leadership with employee task performance. Specifically, it examined the causal chain transformational leadership-job characteristics (task variety and task significance)-job engagement-task performance. The hypotheses were tested on a sample of 320 employees and their supervisors from Spanish young technology and knowledge-intensive small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), using structural equations. The results show that the effect of transformational leadership on task performance (assessed by supervisors) occurs sequentially via task significance and job engagement. Additionally, job engagement mediates the relationship between task variety and task performance. Findings highlight the relevance for supervisors to employ a transformational leadership style that leads employees directly and indirectly, through task significance, to be more engaged and achieve higher task performance. They also emphasize the importance of proper job design that allows employees to be fully invested in the job performance. Despite the importance of leadership and employee performance for the survival and growth of these firms, the study of these relationships is largely unexplored. This study proposes and tests a serial model in which supervisor transformational leadership is linked to employee task performance through two sequential mediators: job characteristics (task variety and task significance) and job engagement.

Providing insight into what pharmacists do in general practice may support further implementation of general practice-based pharmacist roles and enhance their contribution to health care. Aim: To explore the tasks performed by pharmacists in general practice in Sweden. Method: A case study was conducted in 7 general practices in Uppsala County, Sweden, where pharmacists were employed. Activities performed by pharmacists were self-reported during March 2021. Participant observations and semi-structured interviews with pharmacists were conducted between October and November 2021. Self-reported activities were categorised and analysed using descriptive statistics. Qualitative data were analysed using conventional content analysis. Results: In total, 174 activities were self-reported by 8 pharmacists. Two pharmacists were observed for 2 days each, and 6 pharmacists were interviewed. Their main task was conducting medication reviews in older patients with polypharmacy. In addition, they handled a broad variety of drug-related questions and treatment follow-up. Pharmacists described working in a more efficient and needs-based manner over time. They stressed that working at the practice increased their accessibility to and their collaborative work with other healthcare professionals, and enabled them to meet patients face-to-face. Future challenges include defining tasks more clearly, assuming greater responsibility for patient care, and meeting the growing demand for pharmacists in general practice. Conclusion: Pharmacists in general practice in Sweden perform a broad variety of tasks related to identifying, resolving and preventing drug-related problems, mainly in older patients with polypharmacy.

Strengths-based leadership helps employees identify, utilize, and develop their strengths. Does such leadership facilitate employee work engagement and performance? In this study, we integrate Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) and Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) theories to hypothesize that strengths-based leadership is positively related to employee task performance through employee work engagement, and that this effect is moderated by LMX quality. We collected survey data at two time points – with one month interval – from 556 Chinese workers and their managers (N = 104 teams). The results of path modelling showed that strengths-based leadership was positively related to supervisor-ratings of employee task performance via employee work engagement. As predicted, the positive relation between strengths-based leadership and employee work engagement was stronger when LMX was of high-quality. However, the predicted moderated-mediation effect was not supported. We discuss the implications of these findings for research on strengths-based leadership, as well as the practical implications.

This research analyzes the influence of the management control system (MCS) package on task performance, moderated by the presence of financial resources in startups. This is a descriptive study carried out through a survey, with a quantitative approach, based on the analysis of structural equations. The research population consisted of companies associated with ABStartups, with information collected through an electronic questionnaire, with a probabilistic sample consisting of 100 startups. The results showed that the design of the MCS package has a direct and positive effect on the task performance of startups and the presence of financial resources has a moderating effect on the MCS package and task performance in startups. An additional multigroup analysis was carried out between the presence of external and internal financial resources. Among the results, it was verified that, in the external finance group, there was only a positive and significant effect between MCS package design and task performance. In the group of internal financial resources, all relationships are positive and significant, an aspect linked to the generation of information for decision-making, behavioral stimulation and the achievement of the company’s objectives., A presente pesquisa analisa a influência do pacote do sistema de controle gerencial (SCG) no desempenho de tarefas, moderado pela presença de recursos financeiros em startups. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo realizado por meio de levantamento, com abordagem quantitativa, a partir da análise de equações estruturais. A população da pesquisa foi formada pelas empresas associadas na Associação Brasileira De Startups (ABStartups), com informações coletadas por meio de questionário eletrônico, sendo a amostra probabilística composta por 100 startups. Os resultados demonstraram que o desenho do pacote de SCG tem efeito direto e positivo no desempenho de tarefas das startups e a presença de recursos financeiros tem efeito moderador sobre o pacote de SCG e o desempenho de tarefas em startups. Em análise adicional de multigrupos, foi realizada entre a presença de recursos financeiros externos e internos. Dentre os resultados verificou-se que, no grupo de financeiros externos, somente ocorreu um efeito positivo e significativo entre o desenho do pacote de SCG e desempenho de tarefas. No grupo de recursos de financeiros internos, todas as relações apresentam positivas e significantes, aspecto vinculado a geração de informações à tomada de decisão, estímulo comportamental e o alcance de objetivos da empresa., Esta investigación analiza la influencia del paquete del sistema de control de gestión (SCG) en el desempeño de las tareas, moderado por la presencia de recursos financieros en las startups. Se trata de un estudio descriptivo realizado a través de una encuesta, con enfoque cuantitativo, basado en el análisis de ecuaciones estructurales. La población de investigación estuvo constituida por empresas asociadas a ABStartups. Se utilizó información recolectada a través de un cuestionario electrónico, con una muestra probabilística conformada por 100 startups. Los resultados mostraron que el diseño del paquete SCG tiene un efecto directo y positivo en el desempeño de las tareas de las startups, y la presencia de recursos financieros tiene un efecto moderador en el paquete SCG y el desempeño de las tareas en las startups. Se realizó un análisis multigrupo adicional entre la presencia de recursos financieros externos e internos. Entre los resultados, se verificó que, en el grupo de finanzas externas, solo hubo un efecto positivo y significativo entre el diseño del paquete SCG y el desempeño de la tarea. En el grupo de los recursos financieros internos, todas las relaciones son positivas y significativas, aspecto vinculado a la generación de información para la toma de decisiones, la estimulación del comportamiento y la consecución de los objetivos de la empresa.

Purpose: The current study assessed the function of responsible leadership in the banking industry using the stakeholder theory. The current study also looks into the connection between responsible leadership and task, contextual, and environmental performance. Methodology: The banking industry's 389 branch employees, including branch managers, business development officers, general banking officers, branch operation managers, cash officers, and relationship managers, were surveyed using a survey questionnaire approach to gather data. Mplus was used to analyze the data using the structural equation modeling method. Findings: The study's findings showed that ethical leadership had a direct influence on a firm's environmental (0.204), task (0.365), and contextual performance (0.188), as well as indirect effects through varied sustainability policies. Implications: it implies the significance of sustainable policies concerning responsible leadership and a company's success. The current study is a pioneering effort that added to the body of knowledge on the relationship between organizational tasks, contextual performance, and environmental performance in Pakistan's banking industry. It also evaluated the role of sustainability strategies in the interim.

Activities performed by pharmacists were self-reported during March 2021. Participant observations and semi-structured interviews with pharmacists were conducted between October and November 2021. Self-reported activities were categorised and analysed using descriptive statistics. Qualitative data were analysed using conventional content analysis. Results In total, 174 activities were self-reported by 8 pharmacists. Two pharmacists were observed for 2 days each, and 6 pharmacists were interviewed. Their main task was conducting medication reviews in older patients with polypharmacy. In addition, they handled a broad variety of drug-related questions and treatment follow-up. Pharmacists described working in a more efficient and needs-based manner over time. They stressed that working at the practice increased their accessibility to and their collaborative work with other healthcare professionals, and enabled them to meet patients face-to-face. Future challenges include defining tasks more clearly, assuming greater responsibility for patient care, and meeting the growing demand for pharmacists in general practice. Conclusion Pharmacists in general practice in Sweden perform a broad variety of tasks related to identifying, resolving and preventing drug-related problems, mainly in older patients with polypharmacy.

Purpose: The current study assessed the function of responsible leadership in the banking industry using the stakeholder theory. The current study also looks into the connection between responsible leadership and task, contextual, and environmental performance. Methodology: The banking industry's 389 branch employees, including branch managers, business development officers, general banking officers, branch operation managers, cash officers, and relationship managers, were surveyed using a survey questionnaire approach to gather data. Mplus was used to analyze the data using the structural equation modeling method. Findings: The study's findings showed that ethical leadership had a direct influence on a firm's environmental (0.204), task (0.365), and contextual performance (0.188), as well as indirect effects through varied sustainability policies. Implications: it implies the significance of sustainable policies concerning responsible leadership and a company's success. The current study is a pioneering effort that added to the body of knowledge on the relationship between organizational tasks, contextual performance, and environmental performance in Pakistan's banking industry. It also evaluated the role of sustainability strategies in the interim.

The analysis of job performance in supermarkets is a field under exploration where organizations have focused on the study of their determinants to meet the proposed objectives, for this it was considered that their skills should be studied and reinforced. The purpose of the work was to examine the determinants of job performance in the supermarkets of Santo Domingo from the perspective of the collaborators. The method used was factor analysis where the dimensions of the model used for the investigation were analyzed according to the correlational scope. The instrument consisted of 42 items and its reliability was 93%. The results revealed that the applied construct has perceived that supermarkets require the maximum benefit of their capabilities, which at the same time there is an improvement in performance and organizational growth. Digital multitasking is an omnipresent behavior seemingly necessary for one to manage work and social life. Yet, existing research suggests that digital multitasking leads to detrimental consequences for well-being, including increased levels of stress, fatigue, and frustration, and related behavioral deficits. Cognitive overload is generally proposed as the explanatory mechanism for these effects, but insufficient research has examined moderators therein. The current study examines the efficacy of a mindfulness intervention during digital-multitasking, as well as testing the impact of two multitasking strategies - concurrent vs. sequential task completion - on task-related stress and working memory. Results generally demonstrate that attentiveness is key for reducing stress associated with task completion. Emotional awareness, however, might increase stress when individuals are not provided with tools to manage their heightened sensations during their multitasking period. Interestingly, findings also suggest that there is a relationship between emotional awareness and cognitive resource depletion. To generate recommendations on strategies for optimizing multitask performance, an important avenue would be to clarify the effects of multitasking strategies on stress as well as how mindfulness and working memory work together to impact task performance.

Introduction: The recent concept of sustainable employability (SE), which refers to being able and enabled to achieve valuable work goals, has lately attracted substantial attention in many developed countries. Although limited cross-sectional studies found that SE in the form of capability set was positively associated with work outcomes, why and through which mechanism SE is related to crucial work outcomes remains still unexplored. Therefore, the present three-wave study aimed to (1) investigate the SE-work outcomes linkage over time, and (2) uncover the psychological pathway between SE and two work outcomes (i.e., task performance and job satisfaction) by proposing work engagement as a mediator. Methods: To test the mediation process, we approached CentERdata to collect data among a representative sample of 287 Dutch workers. We used a three-wave design with approximately a 2-month time lag. Results: The results of bootstrap-based path modeling indicated that SE was a significant predictor of task performance but not job satisfaction over time. Work engagement mediated the relationships between SE and (a) task performance and (b) job satisfaction. Discussion: These findings suggest that organizations may foster workers’ task performance and job satisfaction by configuring a work context that fosters SE–allowing workers to be able and be enabled to achieve important work goals.

The cognitive demands associated with performing a task involve at least two dimensions: (1) the load dimension that is related to the assumed task difficulty and (2) the effort dimension that reflects the resources invested in a task. This study considers whether this distinction is actually relevant to translators and interpreters when they report load and effort and, if so, how the assumed psychological reality of these two dimensions is related to task performance. In this study, professional translators and interpreters performed naturalistic tasks with comparable stimuli, working from English into German. After each task, they were asked to rate their experienced load and effort as part of the NASA Task Load Index. Their performance was measured by analysing process and product indicators that correspond in interpreting and translation. Results indicate that while self-reported load and effort are highly correlated, their relationships to process or product measures appear to be more complex.

Dynamic lighting is a potentially promising solution to meet the individual's chronobiologic and psychological needs at specific times of day or for specific activities. Yet, few studies have investigated the impact of dynamic lighting patterns on daytime functioning and nocturnal sleep, and the optimal dynamic lighting pattern remains largely unknown. The current study assessed the effects of a daylong dynamic lighting (DL) pattern with modulations in intensity and spectrum vs. static office lighting (SL) on markers of well-being, cognitive performance, visual experiences, and sleep in a simulated office environment. Twenty-one subjects participated in the 48-h balanced crossover laboratory study. The findings revealed time-of-day and experimental-day dependent benefits of the DL vs. SL pattern on daytime vitality, sleepiness, state self-control, mood, performance on a sustained attention task and subsequent subjective sleep quality. Complementing earlier research outcomes reported in the literature, the current study suggests that a dynamic lighting approach could be a practical strategy to support office workers' daytime well-being and nocturnal sleep. Yet, the results revealed no consistent pattern across assessments nor across the different types of metrics at a specific assessment, thus additional research regarding the optimization of lighting parameters and pattern is needed.

The Job Demands-Resources Framework (JDR) has established job- and personal resources as essential elements motivating people to perform. Whilst the purpose of job resources in this motivational process is well established, the role of personal resources is still quite ambiguous. Within the JDR framework, personal resources could (a) directly affect performance, (b) indirectly affect the relationship between a job resource and a performance outcome and (c) moderate the job resource-performance relationship. Grit has recently emerged as a promising personal resource as it could potentially act as a direct antecedent-, mediator and moderator within the motivational process of the JDR. To further the debate on the role of personal resources, this paper explores the function of grit (as a personal resource) within the person-environment fit (job resource) and task performance relationship. Specifically, the aim is to determine if grit directly or indirectly affects the relationship between person-environment fit and task performance. Finally, it aims to investigate whether grit moderates this relationship. Data were collected from 310 working adults through electronic surveys, and the relationships were explored through structural equation modelling. When controlling for age and gender, the results showed a positive association between person-environment fit, grit and task performance. Further, grit was also found to indirectly affect the relationship between the person-environment fit and task performance. However, no moderating effect could be established. This signifies the importance of grit as a psychological process, rather than a buffering element that may explain how person-environment fit affects performance outcomes.

The findings underscore the need for improved user guidance and more intuitive design of GIS applications, particularly for novice users. The review also identifies several opportunities for future research, including developing usability guidelines for GIS, exploring new methods for analyzing GIS interactions and workflows, and considering GIS use over more extended periods. The findings have significant implications for GIS developers, users, and researchers, emphasizing the importance of conducting usability evaluations to enhance user satisfaction and improve task performance.

This paper examines whether employees' strategies to recognize (through self-recognition) and regulate (through job crafting, work-family management, and recovery) their internal and external demands and resources help them retain their well-being and performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also examines whether an online self-training intervention can stimulate the use of these strategies. A randomized control trial with a waitlist control group and pre-post measure (N intervention group = 62, N control group = 77) was executed, consisting of four modules with videos, exercises, and three assignments. Participants of the intervention group reported improved self-recognition (noticing, self-focused emotional intelligence), job crafting (seeking resources and challenges), recovery (psychological detachment and relaxation), and reduced work-family conflict. Moreover, the intervention group reported reduced fatigue and increased happiness with life and task performance after the intervention. Improvements in self-focused emotional intelligence, relaxation, and reduced work-family conflict could explain the progress of these distal outcomes. This study reveals the strategies that can help employees to maintain high levels of well-being and performance while working from home and how to improve them using an evidence-based self-training intervention.

In this paper, we present the results of a preliminary study on the evolution of self-efficacy and self-awareness among scientific translation students throughout one semester using data collected for three academic years. The analysis was based on the two components of self-efficacy: the perception that students have of their own capabilities to perform specific activities related to scientific and technical translation and their actual capabilities to perform those activities. To assess the self-efficacy beliefs of students, we analyzed the evolution of the self-perception of students based on the results of two questionnaires, an initial assessment questionnaire on their translation habits and problems, and a final psychometric questionnaire on the perceived usefulness of the pedagogical method used and on their self-efficacy beliefs. To assess the actual capabilities of students, we analyzed the evolution of the number of errors in each translation assignment and of the academic scores of students. The comparative analysis of the diagnostic assessment questionnaire and the diagnostic assessment translation assignment revealed low self-awareness at the beginning of the semester, as evidenced by a poor correspondence between students’ perceptions and performance. In contrast, a high degree of correspondence was found between self-efficacy beliefs and academic performance at the end of the semester, which suggests that the implemented method helped students develop realistic self-efficacy beliefs.

Background: Healthcare organisations face major challenges to keep healthcare accessible and affordable. This requires them to transform and improve their performance. To do so, organisations must influence employee job performance. Therefore, it is necessary to know what the key dimensions of job performance in healthcare are and how these dimensions can be improved. This study has three aims. The first aim is to determine what key dimensions of job performance are discussed in the healthcare literature. The second aim is to determine to which professionals and healthcare organisations these dimensions of job performance pertain. The third aim is to identify factors that organisations can use to affect the dimensions of job performance in healthcare. Methods: A systematic review was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. The authors searched Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and Google Books, which resulted in the identification of 763 records. After screening 92 articles were included. Results: The dimensions – task, contextual, and adaptative performance and counterproductive work behaviour – are reflected in the literature on job performance in healthcare. Adaptive performance and counterproductive work behaviour appear to be under-researched. The studies were conducted in different healthcare organisations and pertain to a variety of healthcare professionals. Organisations can affect job performance on the macro-, meso-, and micro-level to achieve transformation and improvement. Conclusion: Based on more than 90 studies published in over 70 journals, the authors conclude that job performance in healthcare can be conceptualised into four dimensions: task, contextual and adaptive performance, and counterproductive work behaviour. Generally, these dimensions correspond with the dimensions discussed in the job performance literature. This implies that these dimensions can

We examine the role of employee mindfulness in the context of highly monotonous work conditions. Integrating research on task monotony with theorizing on mindfulness, we hypothesized that mindfulness is negatively associated with the extent to which employees feel generally bored by their jobs. We further hypothesized that this lower employee boredom would relate to downstream outcomes in the form of job attitudes (job satisfaction and turnover intentions) and task performance. We examined both objective task performance quality and quantity to shed light on the complexity of the mindfulness-task performance relation, which has so far mostly been investigated using subjective supervisor ratings. In a sample of 174 blue-collar workers in a Mexican company, results showed that employee mindfulness was negatively related to boredom. Further, mindfulness was positively related to job satisfaction and negatively to turnover intentions, partly mediated through boredom. Mindfulness turned out to be a double-edged sword for task performance in monotonous jobs: Mindfulness was positively related to task performance quality but negatively related to quantity. Practitioner points In repetitive, monotonous jobs held by millions of people worldwide, more mindful employees perceive their job as less boring. Furthermore, mindful employees have higher job satisfaction and are less likely to quit. With regard to objective job performance, mindfulness can be a double-edged sword: It positively affects objective performance quality via boredom, but negatively affects objective performance quantity directly.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine whether servant leadership (SL) buffers the negative relationship between perceived organizational politics (POP) and employee performance outcomes. Design/methodology/approach: Time-lagged multi source data were collected from 236 supervisor-subordinate dyads in a public sector university in Pakistan. SL, POP and several control variables were measured in subordinates at time 1, and supervisor ratings of organization citizenship behaviors and task performance were measured at time 2. The authors performed moderated multiple regression analysis to test the hypotheses underpinning the study. Findings: Findings revealed that POP was negatively related to employee task performance and two types of organization citizenship behavior (individual and organizational). Findings also revealed that SL attenuated the negative effect of POP on employee task performance and the two types of organization citizenship behavior. Practical implications: SL is particularly important in organizational cultures characterized by high politics; therefore, managers seeking to enhance task performance and citizenship behavior in employees should adopt this style of leadership if possible. Originality/value: This is the first study conducted in the South Asian context that has examined whether, and how, SL buffers the negative effects of POP on employee task performance and organization citizenship behavior.

Academic self-efficacy (ASE) refers to a student’s global belief in his/her ability to master the various academic challenges at university and is an essential antecedent of wellbeing and performance. The five-item General Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (GASE) showed promise as a short and concise measure for overall ASE. However, of its validity and reliability outside of Scandinavia is limited. Therefore, this paper aimed to investigate the psychometric properties, longitudinal invariance, and criterion validity of the GASE within a sample of university students (Time 1: n=1056 & Time 2: n=592) in the USA and Western Europe. The results showed that a unidimensional factorial model of overall ASE fitted the data well, was reliable and invariant across time. Further, criterion validity was established by finding a positive relationship with task performance at different time stamps. Therefore, the GASE can be used as a valid and reliable measure for general ASE.

In the present study, we integrate Person-Organization (P-O) fit and Job Demands-Resources theories to argue that P-O fit (i.e., value congruence between person and organization) is a key resource that facilitates the accumulation and activation of situational job resources. We hypothesize that P-O fit strengthens the well-established positive relationship between job autonomy and job performance. Measures of objective P-O fit were obtained for 43 Norwegian naval cadets before embarking on a training mission onboard a sailing ship. During the mission, we measured daily self-reported autonomy as well as peer-rated task and contextual performance for 30 consecutive days. As predicted, the results of multilevel modeling analyses showed that the relationship between daily autonomy and (a) next- (but not same-) day task performance, and (b) next- (and same-) day contextual performance is stronger positive for individuals high (vs. low) in P-O fit. Moreover, effects of the daily autonomy – P-O fit interaction were noticeable on performance several days after. We discuss the theoretical and practical implications of these findings.

Introduction: Newly trained nurses experience a lack of preparedness in practical skills, and research shows that students and newly trained nurses have deficiencies in performing practical skills such as venous blood specimen collection. There is a lack of knowledge regarding the level of accuracy reached by students after training at clinical training centres and before entering clinical practice. The aim of this study was to assess the performance of venous blood specimen collection among nursing students after regular education and training at the clinical training centre but before starting an internship. Methods: Twenty-three nursing students were observed and video-recorded. An observation protocol was developed based on a validated questionnaire measuring adherence to valid guidelines, and a model for practical skills performance. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. Results: A large variation was found in students’ performance with respect to information provided to the patient, patient identification procedures, and tourniquet procedures. The students gave adequate information in 39% of cases, accurately performed patient identification in 83% of cases, and accurately performed the tourniquet procedure in 22% of cases. Conclusions: Many nursing students are not prepared to practice on real patients. It is therefore important for university lecturers to develop more efficient teaching methods and to communicate students’ skill levels to the supervisor at the clinic, in order for the clinical training to be adapted to a suitable level. There is a need for further research on how to close the gap between the university and internship in order to ensure patient safety.

In organisations, supervisory negative performance feedback has conflicting (i.e., negative, positive, and null) effects on subsequent subordinate task performance. The goal of my research is to reconcile these conflicting effects by examining the role of supervisory temporal framing of negative performance feedback—that is, the extent to which a supervisor communicates negative performance feedback in a past- or future-focused manner. Drawing on feedback intervention theory, I demonstrate—across three experimental studies involving working participants—that supervisory past-framed negative performance feedback has a null effect on subsequent subordinate task performance, whereas supervisory future-framed negative performance feedback has a positive effect. Moreover, I demonstrate that: (a) supervisory past-framed negative performance feedback focuses subordinates’ attention on meta processes (i.e., on the self), (b) supervisory future-framed negative performance feedback focuses subordinates’ attention on task processes (i.e., on the task at hand), and (c) subordinate attention to task processes mediates the positive relationship between supervisory future-framed negative performance feedback and subsequent subordinate task performance. These effects are observed irrespective of individual differences in subordinate stress mindset. I discuss the theoretical and practical implications of my findings.

Purpose: This multilevel diary study examined the association between day-level job resourcefulness and day-level task performance of employees of tour and travel. Based on the job demands and resources (JD-R) model, we tested the mediating effect of day-level job satisfaction between job resourcefulness and task performance with the moderating effect of perceived organizational support. Methodology: We collected data for five consecutive days with the help of structured questionnaires. Employees (n = 180) rated their general perceived organizational support, daily job resourcefulness, and daily job satisfaction, whereas their immediate supervisors (n = 18) rated their daily task performance. It was a two-level study with days nested in individuals (no. of observations=900). Findings: Multilevel structural equation modeling (MSEM) results show a positive association between job resourcefulness and supervisor-rated task performance with the partial mediation of job satisfaction at the day level, while the cross-level interaction effect of the perceived organizational support was non-significant. Our hypothesized framework was never tested, which is a unique contribution to job resourcefulness literature and, in this way, for tourism-related entrepreneurs. Conclusion: SMEs are highly dependent on their employees for competitiveness and performance but at the same time face resource-constrained problems. We argue that the employees' job resourcefulness might help achieve work-related goals such as task performance through enhanced job satisfaction daily, where organizational support does not provide the necessary job resources.

We examine the relationship between job insecurity (JI) and performance (i.e., adaptivity, proactivity, task performance) from a multilevel perspective. We suggest that different behavioural responses will be triggered depending on whether the JI refers to an employee's relative JI within a team or a team's collective JI. An individual employee's relative JI within a team may evoke a withdrawal reaction (i.e., diminished performance) because the individual experiences the insecurity as a personal issue (one which does not affect the rest of the team as much; i.e., a "person-at-risk" situation). However, when JI is experienced as a collective phenomenon (one that affects the entire team as a whole because of the shared context, i.e., a "job-at-risk" situation), employees may demonstrate higher performance as they are driven by job preservation motives. We incorporated both individual employee and supervisor ratings as they have complementary value in evaluating performance. Data was obtained from 53 teams, including 403 employees and 53 supervisors. Team's collective JI was associated with higher supervisor-rated performance at the team-level, both in terms of adaptivity and proactivity but not in terms of task performance. The employee's relative JI within a team was associated with reduced self-rated performance in terms of both adaptivity and task performance.
