Latex diagnosis (LD) is applied to optimize the natural rubber production and prevent tapping panel dryness (TPD), a physiological syndrome affecting latex production in Hevea brasiliensis. The reduced thiol content (RSH) is one of the biochemical parameters associated with the risk of TPD. However, RSH is difficult to interpret because of the influence of the environment. In order to better understand the regulation of antioxidants and to better interpret RSH, a key parameter of LD, this study analysed in latex both oxidised and reduced forms of ascorbic acid (AsA) and glutathione, and their cofactors as well as other latex diagnosis parameters in response to harvesting stress (tapping and ethephon stimulation) and TPD occurrence. The content of antioxidants in latex had a high variability among five rubber clones. The concentration in AsA was about ten times higher than GSH in laticifer, GSH accounting for about 50% of RSH. For short-term harvesting stress, RSH increased with tapping frequency and ethephon stimulation. TPD is associated with high latex viscosity and bursting of lysosomal particles called lutoids, as well as for several rubber clones with lower RSH and GSH contents. These results suggest that a high level of RSH shows the capacity of laticifer metabolism to cope with harvesting stress, while a drop in RSH is the sign of long stress related to lower metabolic activity and TPD occurrence. RSH remains an essential physiological parameter to prevent TPD when associated with reference data under low and high harvesting stress. In this article we will develop the conception of psychoanalysis as symptom in the framework of capitalist advance, especially aggravated by the covid-19 pandemic. The ideology governed by capital is located at the antipodes of that sustained by the ethics of desire. Psychoanalysis counts on the uprising of the symptom, which in its formal symbolic envelope veils a Real, irreducible to mercantile logic. This generates a tension with the teleological perspectives of history, outlined in the question of the scope of capitalist discourse, the one that Lacan destined to explode. Das Aufmerksamkeits-Defizit-Hyperaktivitäts-Syndrom (ADHS) gehört zu den meistgestellten Diagnosen im Kindesalter. Dies zeigt die grosse Relevanz dieses Themas für die Schule auf. Deshalb befasst sich die vorliegende Arbeit mit der Frage, wie eine Unterstützung von Kindern mit ADHS im Unterrichtsalltag gelingen kann. Als erster Schritt erfolgte eine Auseinandersetzung mit inhaltlichen Grundlagen zu ADHS aus der Forschungsliteratur. Ausserdem wurden Informationen bezüglich der Thematik in der Praxis anhand von Experteninterviews ermittelt. Die qualitative Forschungsmethode wurde als geeignetes Instrument für die Ermittlung des Erfahrungswertes erachtet, an der sich auch die Datenauswertung der transkribierten Interviews orientierte. Eine Gegenüberstellung und Vernetzung von Literatur und der Interviewergebnisse erfolgte in einem weiteren Schritt. Aus der daraus entstandenen Diskussion konnten essenzielle Informationen zur Beantwortung der Fragestellung gewonnen werden. Es wurde ersichtlich, dass anhand von Wissen über die Thematik ADHS Hilfestellungen in den Bereichen der Beziehungs-, Situations-, Material-, und Raumgestaltung wichtig sind. Als Endprodukt entstand eine Broschüre mit konkreten Aspekten und Vorschlägen zur Unterstützung von Kindern mit ADHS im Unterrichtsalltag. more...

The treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) from a psychoanalytic perspective entails the questioning of the approach guided by pharmacology and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) to introduce a clinical standpoint where the subject and their symptom are treated otherwise. In this case, psychoanalytic therapy offers the option of the word, the game, and other strategies for the treatment of children, where the symbolic becomes valuable since it is the privileged way to producing therapeutic effects. The direction of the treatment is applied here without attempting to normalize; nevertheless, because of the singularity of the symptom, it is possible to decipher it, regulate the drive overflow, and offer a necessary mooring for the subject., Le traitement du trouble du déficit de l'attention avec hyperactivité (TDAH) dans une perspective psychanalytique implique de remettre en question les formes d'approche de la pharmacologie et le Manuel diagnostique et statistique des troubles mentaux (DSM), afin d'introduire une perspective clinique différente concernant le sujet et son symptôme. The purpose of this paper is to review the concepts that make possible the clinical and ethical actions of those who are guided by the psychoanalytic theory. Freudian and Lacanian postulates are articulated in parallel to, in the end, make a proposal that guides the analyst when facing the difficult everyday nature of the patient's demand during the consultation. The concepts of jouissance, symptom, Lustprinzip (pleasure principle), Jenseits des Lustprinzips (beyond the pleasure principle), Erinnern (remembering), Wiederholen (repeating), and Durcharbeiten (working-through) are addressed in a way that indicates a field of study for subsequent works., Le but de cet article est de parcourir les concepts qui rendent possible l'action clinique et éthique de ceux qui s’orientent grâce à la théorie psychanalytique. On the basis of semiotic considerations regarding the symptom and the psychoanalytical approach to it, the article addresses the Lacanian conception of sinthome, taking it as the fourth term that, in a semiotic square, would complete the registers of the symbolic, the imaginary, and the real, thanks to the operation of the denial of impossibility and contingency by the subject of the enunciation. By articulating these formulations with the discursive perspective of Laclau and Mouffe and Fontanille’s semiotic considerations on antagonism, we interpret the Peace Agreements achieved between antagonists as expressions of the social sinthome, shaped by the antagonists in the very process of negotiation., A partir de las consideraciones semióticas sobre el síntoma y del abordaje psicoanalítico del mismo, se aborda la concepción lacaniana sobre el sinthome, asumiéndolo como el cuarto término que completaría, en un cuadrado semiótico, los registros de lo simbólico, lo imaginario y lo real, gracias a la operación de denegación de la imposibilidad y de la contingencia, por parte del sujeto de la enunciación. Introduction: From the beginning of the corona pandemic until August 19, 2020, more than 21,989,366 cases have been reported worldwide - 228,495 in Germany alone, including 12,648 children aged 0-14. In many countries, the proportion of infected children in the total population is comparatively low; in addition, children often have no or milder symptoms and are less likely to transmit the pathogen to adults than the other way round. Based on the registration data in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, the symptoms of children in comparison with adults and the likely routes of transmission are presented below. Materials and methods: The documentation of the mandatory reports includes personal data (name, date of birth, gender, place of residence), disease characteristics (date of report, date of onset of the disease, symptoms), possible contact persons (family, others) and i.a. possible activity or care in children's community facilities. All reports were viewed, especially with regard to likely transmission routes.Results: From March 1 to July 31, 2020, 1,977 infected people were reported, including 138 children between the ages of 0 and 14 years. Children had fewer and milder symptoms than adults. None of the children experienced severe respiratory symptoms or the need for ventilation. 62% of the children had no symptoms at all (19% adults), 5% of the children were hospitalized (24% adults), and none of the children died (3.8% adults).After excluding a cluster of 34 children from refugee accommodations and 14 children from a parish, 78% of the remaining 90 children had been infected by an adult within the family, and only 4% were likely to have a reverse transmission route. Alle Meldungen wurden gesichtet, insbesondere auch im Hinblick auf wahrscheinliche Übertragungswege. Ergebnisse: Von 1. März bis 31. Juli 2020 wurden 1.977 infizierte Personen gemeldet, darunter 138 Kinder im Alter von 0 bis 14 Jahren. Kinder hatten weniger und leichtere Symptome als Erwachsene. Schwere Atemwegssymptome oder eine Beatmungspflicht traten bei keinem der Kinder auf. 62% der Kinder hatten keine Symptome (19% Erwachsene), 5% der Kinder wurden in ein Krankenhaus eingewiesen (24% Erwachsene), kein Kind verstarb (3,8% Erwachsene). Even if hatred is “less easily accessible to our consent”, it characterizes our times. In order to clarify the paradox —hate, civilization, feeling—, the article inquires into these concepts by combining the logic of analytical discourse and the neoliberal logic that presides over “our” fate. “Hate is a passion of being” to which it tends. But, why does being trigger hate? This analysis leads us from that which is real for the subject to the hatred of God: religious transcendence responds to the unthinkable of the subject. Moreover, if capitalist discourse rejects the ways of love, does it not likewise forclude hate? Grapevine downy mildew (GDM) is a severe disease of grapevines. Because of the lack of reliable information about the dates of GDM symptom onset, many vine growers begin fungicide treatments early in the season. We evaluate the extent to which such preventive treatments are justified. Observational data for 266 untreated sites for the years between 2010 and 2017 were used to estimate the timing of GDM onset on vines and bunches of grapes in South West France (Bordeaux region) through survival analyses. The onset of GDM was not apparent on vines and bunches before early to mid-May, and the rate of GDM symptom appearance was highly variable across years. Depending on the year, 50% of the plots displayed symptoms between mid-May and late June for vines. For several years, our statistical analysis revealed that the proportion of plots with no symptoms was high in early August on vines (27.5 and 43.7% in 2013 and 2016) and on bunches (between 23 and 79% in 2011, 2013, and 2016). We found a significant effect of the amount of rainfall in spring on the date of symptom appearance. These results indicate that preventive fungicide application is unjustified in many vineyards, and that regional disease surveys should be used to adjust fungicide treatment dates according to local characteristics, in particular according to rainfall conditions in spring. more...

Si l’existence de liens entre consommation éthylique et symptômes thymiques paraît évidente, la nature et les mécanismes qui sous-tendent ces interactions s’avèrent en revanche très complexes et moins bien connus. Cet article, qui s’appuie essentiellement sur des données empiriques et destinées aux cliniciens, vise à décrire de quelle manière la compréhension de ces symptômes thymiques permet de dégager des pistes de travail ou leviers pour le travail clinique avec les patients alcoolo-dépendants. Nous développons en particulier la manière dont la consommation aiguë entraîne des réactions émotionnelles, hors contexte d’abus ou de dépendance (caractère syntone par rapport au cadre social de consommation, « binge-drinking »). Les consommations chroniques, menant à l’abus ou à la dépendance, sont par la suite abordées en détaillant de quelle manière leur interaction biologique avec le circuit de récompense cérébrale modifie notablement l’humeur, en fonction d’un principe d’allostasie. Nous mettons aussi en évidence le rôle de facteurs de personnalité tels que la conscience de Soi dans la relation qui peut exister entre dépression et « craving ». This article, which relies mainly on empirical data and is intended for clinicians, aims to describe how understanding these thymic symptoms can identify avenues of work or levers for clinical work with alcohol-dependent patients. In particular, we develop the way in which acute consumption leads to emotional reactions, outside the context of abuse or dependence (symptom with the social framework of consumption, “binge-drinking”). Chronic consumption leading to abuse or dependence is then discussed, detailing how their biological interaction with the brain reward circuit significantly changes mood, based on a principle of allostasis. Freud was wrong to think that religion would disappear with the development of scientific knowledge. However, his own discoveries, drives and the unconscious, presuppose that a process of objectivization cannot ground itself. Bacterial diseases of bananas and enset have not received, until recently, an equal amount of attention compared to other major threats to banana production such as the fungal diseases black leaf streak (Mycosphaerella fijiensis) and Fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense). However, bacteria cause significant impacts on bananas globally and management practices are not always well known or adopted by farmers. Bacterial diseases in bananas and enset can be divided into three groups: (1) Ralstonia-associated diseases (Moko/Bugtok disease caused by Ralstonia solanacearum and banana blood disease caused by R. syzygii subsp. celebesensis); (2) Xanthomonas wilt of banana and enset, caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. musacearum and (3) Erwinia-associated diseases (bacterial head rot or tip-over disease Erwinia carotovora ssp. carotovora and E. chrysanthemi), bacterial rhizome and pseudostem wet rot (Dickeya paradisiaca formerly E. chrysanthemi pv. paradisiaca). Other bacterial diseases of less widespread importance include: bacterial wilt of abaca, Javanese vascular wilt and bacterial fingertip rot (probably caused by Ralstonia spp., unconfirmed). Eine Dyskalkulie beziehungsweise Rechenschwäche ist eine Teilleistungsschwäche im Bereich der Mathematik. Die betroffenen Schülerinnen und Schüler, welche in den anderen Schulfächern grundsätzlich besser abschneiden als in der Mathematik, sind auch in ihrer Lebensweise durch die Dyskalkulie eingeschränkt. Dabei stehen die Lehrpersonen vor einer besonderen Herausforderung. Sie sollen jedem Kind eine individuelle Förderung für ein bestmögliches Lernen ermöglichen. In dieser Bachelorarbeit, gibt theoretisches Hintergrundwissen einen Einblick in die Schwierigkeiten dieser Kinder und die möglichen Fördermassnahmen im Fachbereich Mathematik. Als Grundproblematik kristallisiert sich die mangelnde Zahlauffassung der Kinder heraus. Die Kinder haben nicht verstanden, dass sich hinter den Zahlen eine Menge verbirgt. Die Wirksamkeit der beschriebenen alternativen Fördermöglichkeiten ist wissenschaftlich, empirisch nicht abschliessend belegt, jedoch stellen sie eine Möglichkeit der zusätzlichen Therapie dar. Die Möglichkeiten der Förderung in der Unterrichtsklasse geben wertvolle Hilfestellungen im Umgang mit Kindern mit einer Dyskalkulie, jedoch ist damit eine Förderung in höherem Schulstoff schwierig, wenn der Basisstoff noch nicht verstanden wurde. Aus diesem Grund müssen junge Kinder genügend früh im Basisstoff gefördert werden, um später in ihrer Schullaufbahn eine Chance zu haben, den regulären Stoff zu verstehen. more...

Complex life cycles, changing distribution ranges, a variety of potential vectors and hosts, and the possible role of reservoirs make surveillance for VBDs a grave concern in a changing environment with increasing economic constraints. Surveillance activities may have various specific objectives and may focus on clinical disease, pathogens, vectors, hosts and/or reservoirs, but ultimately such activities should improve our ability to predict, prevent and/or control the diseases concerned. This paper briefly reviews existing and newly developed tools for the surveillance of VBDs. A range of examples, by no means exhaustive, illustrates that VBD surveillance usually involves a combination of methods to achieve its aims, and is best accomplished when these techniques are adapted to the specific environment and constraints of the region. More so than any other diseases, VBDs respect no administrative boundaries; in addition, animal, human and commodity movements are increasing dramatically, with illegal or unknown movements difficult to quantify. Vector-borne disease surveillance therefore becomes a serious issue for local and national organisations and is being conducted more and more at the regional and international level through multidisciplinary networks. With economic and logistical constraints, tools for optimising and evaluating the performance of surveillance systems are essential and examples of recent developments in this area are included. The continuous development of mapping, analytical and modelling tools provides us with an enhanced ability to interpret, visualise and communicate surveillance results.
