Introduction: Radial forearm flap, first described in the early eighties in China, is a well-known and handy flap to cover soft tissue defects of the distal upper limb. It has, though, some inconveniences, such as the sacrifice of the radial artery and non-neglectable esthetic sequelae in the donor site. In the following years, a similar flap based on the perforators of the radial artery has been described as achieving similar results, allowing to spare a main vessel. The authors reviewed retrospectively the patients that underwent surgery with one of those two flaps in their center to compare outcomes. Materials and methods: Patients operated between January 2016 and January 2022 have been reviewed. Ten had a classic radial artery flap, and ten had a radial artery perforator flap. Twelve weeks after surgery, Vancouver Scar Scale was used to assess the results at the donor site and over the flap. Reintervention and failure rate within one year and patient satisfaction -using a visual analog scale ranging from 0 to ten-at 12 months were also assessed. Results: All classic radial artery flap group patients had “successful” surgery, and none needed secondary surgery. On the other side, three patients required a second surgery in the perforator flap group, and nine out of ten ended up with “successful” flaps. Mean Vancouver Scar Scale results regarding the flap are comparable, whereas those at the donor site are significantly better in the patients with the perforator flap. Patients’ satisfaction results are similar in both groups. Conclusion: The radial artery perforator flap is an important flap to be held in mind by all surgeons approaching reconstruction of the elbow, the forearm, and the hand, and should be preferred, when possible, to the classic radial forearm flap.

Fracture non-union is a challenging orthopaedic issue and a socio-economic global burden. Several biological therapies have been introduced to improve traditional surgical approaches. Among these, the latest research has been focusing on adipose tissue as a powerful source of mesenchymal stromal cells, namely, adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs). ADSC are commonly isolated from the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) of liposuctioned hypodermal adipose tissue, and their applications have been widely investigated in many fields, including non-union fractures among musculoskeletal disorders. This review aims at providing a comprehensive update of the literature on clinical application of ADSCs for the treatment of non-unions in humans. The study was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Only three articles met our inclusion criteria, with a total of 12 cases analyzed for demographics and harvesting, potential manufacturing and implantation of ADSCs. The review of the literature suggests that adipose derived cell therapy can represent a promising alternative in bone regenerative medicine for the enhancement of non-unions and bone defects. The low number of manuscripts reporting ADSC-based therapies for long bone fracture healing suggests some critical issues that are discussed in this review. Nevertheless, further investigations on human ADSC therapies are needed to improve the knowledge on their translational potential and to possibly achieve a consensus on their use for such applications.

Antibody repertoires reveal insights into the biology of the adaptive immune system and empower diagnostics and therapeutics. There are currently multiple tools available for the annotation of antibody sequences. All downstream analyses such as choosing lead drug candidates depend on the correct annotation of these sequences; however, a thorough comparison of the performance of these tools has not been investigated. Here, we benchmark the performance of commonly used immunoinformatic tools, i.e. IMGT/HighV-QUEST, IgBLAST and MiXCR, in terms of reproducibility of annotation output, accuracy and speed using simulated and experimental high-throughput sequencing datasets.

The concern regarding the environment and the society reflects a broader concept and perception on how business should be conducted. The continuous demand for all kind of resources makes it vital and almost inevitable for a company, government and even physical person to embrace and embed in their culture and strategic goals the sustainable development dimensions. In the perspective of project management, the integration of sustainability requires particular attention especially from the decision-makers involved in the field of project management and more precisely in the project selection process. This research aims to examine how this process is achieved by organizations in a sustainable manner, by proper integration in effective tools such as Environmental and Social Impact Assessment. The exploration of theories and models regarding project selection and ESIA helped me in building and elaborating further on a sustainable framework that enhances the need for proper integration and incorporation of environmental and social issues in projects. This paper concludes that the most efficient way to benefit from the opportunities that the surrounding environment brings in a project area is to assess such impacts and integrate them since the corporate strategy crafting and the initial phase of project selection process

La tesi si colloca nel perimetro dell'Informatica Forense, o Digital Forensics, la scienza forense che «studia l'insieme delle attività che sono rivolte all'analisi e alla soluzione dei casi legati alla criminalità informatica, comprendendo tra questi i crimini realizzati con l'uso di un computer, diretti a un computer o in cui il computer può comunque rappresentare una fonte di prova». Gli oggetti e i dispositivi che utilizziamo conservano tracce che, se estratte e analizzate da un esperto informatico forense, possono aiutare nell'accertamento di un fatto giuridicamente rilevante. Tuttavia, come si vedrà, occorre operare nel rispetto di regole tecniche e norme processuali perché il risultato sia resistente dal punto di vista probatorio e al contempo garantisca il diritto di difesa. In particolare, l'elaborato prende in esame l'applicazione dei principi e metodi dell'Informatica Forense alle potenziali prove digitali memorizzate in moduli, reti e messaggi automobilistici, la c.d. Car Forensics; i sistemi informatici delle vetture infatti registrano e archiviano dati e, ovunque ci siano dati, c'è l'opportunità di individuarli, estrarli ed analizzarli. All'analisi teorica si è affiancato un esperimento, condotto in laboratorio, con l'obiettivo specifico di acquisire e analizzare le informazioni archiviate nell'unità di controllo motore di un'Audi A4 del 2009. Il progetto è stato realizzato presso il laboratorio del consulente informatico forense Luca Mercuriali, con la supervisione del dott. Ulrico Bardari (Polizia di Stato), dopo aver svolto un periodo di tirocinio presso BIT4LAW, società che si occupa di consulenze tecniche nell'ambito dell'Informatica Forense. Lo scopo dell'indagine sarà quello di dimostrare come sia sempre plausibile condurre un'investigazione sul veicolo indipendentemente dal suo stato fisico, a patto che sia possibile restaurare i collegamenti tra le varie centraline e che sia preservata l'integrità delle memorie interne di queste ultime.
