In this paper, we present a novel approach for image retrieval based on extraction of low level features using techniques such as Directional Binary Code, Haar Wavelet transform and Histogram of Oriented Gradients. The DBC texture descriptor captures the spatial relationship between any pair of neighbourhood pixels in a local region along a given direction, while Local Binary Patterns descriptor considers the relationship between a given pixel and its surrounding neighbours. Therefore, DBC captures more spatial information than LBP and its variants, also it can extract more edge information than LBP. Hence, we employ DBC technique in order to extract grey level texture feature from each RGB channels individually and computed texture maps are further combined which represents colour texture features of an image. Then, we decomposed the extracted colour texture map and original image using Haar wavelet transform. Finally, we encode the shape and local features of wavelet transformed images using Histogram of Oriented Gradients for content based image retrieval. The performance of proposed method is compared with existing methods on two databases such as Wang's corel image and Caltech 256. In this paper, we present feature-based technique for construction of mosaic image from underwater video sequence, which suffers from parallax distortion due to propagation properties of light in the underwater environment. The most of the available mosaic tools and underwater image mosaicing techniques yields final result with some artifacts such as blurring, ghosting and seam due to presence of parallax in the input images. The removal of parallax from input images may not reduce its effects instead it must be corrected in successive steps of mosaicing. Thus, our approach minimizes the parallax effects by adopting an efficient local alignment technique after global registration. We extract texture features using Centre Symmetric Local Binary Pattern (CS-LBP) descriptor in order to find feature correspondences, which are used further for estimation of homography through RANSAC. In order to increase the accuracy of global registration, we perform preprocessing such as colour alignment between two selected frames based on colour distribution adjustment. Because of existence of 100% overlap in consecutive frames of underwater video, we select frames with minimum overlap based on mutual offset in order to reduce the computation cost during mosaicing. It complements an earlier inference of "positive" hyperconjugative aromaticity for the cyclohexadienyl cation. The anion is a reactive intermediate in the dehydration of benzene cis-1,2-dihydrodiol to phenol. Rate constants for 3-substituted benzene cis-dihydrodiols are correlated by values with rho = 3.2. Solvent isotope effects for the reactions are k(H2O)/k(D2O) = 1.2-1.8. These measurements are consistent with reaction via a carbanion intermediate or a concerted reaction with a "carbanion-like" transition state. These and other experimental results confirm that the reaction proceeds by a stepwise mechanism, with a change in rate-determining step from proton transfer to the loss of hydroxide ion from the intermediate. Hydrogen isotope exchange accompanying dehydration of the parent benzene cis-1,2-dihydrodiol was not found, and thus, the proton transfer step is subject to internal return. A rate constant of similar to 10(11) s(-1), corresponding to rotational relaxation of the aqueous solvent, is assigned to loss of hydroxide ion from the intermediate. The rate constant for internal return therefore falls in the range 10(11)-10(12) s(-1). From these limiting values and the measured rate constant for hydroxide-catalyzed dehydration, a pK(a) of 30.8 +/- 0.5 was determined for formation of the anion. Although loss of hydroxide ion is hugely exothermic, a concerted reaction is not enforced by the instability of the intermediate. Stabilization by negative hyperconjugation is proposed for 1,2-dihydroxycyclohexadienide and similar anions, and this proposal is supported by additional experimental evidence and by computational results, including evidence for a diatropic ("aromatic") ring current in 3,3-difluorocyclohexadienyl anion.

A heterosupermolecule has been assembled by covalently linking a TiO2 nanocrystal, a ruthenium complex, and a viologen. The associated heterosupramolecular function, long-lived light-induced charge separation, has been demonstrated. Potentiostatic modulation of this function has also been demonstrated. The reported findings and associated insights may find practical applications in the area of optical information storage.

Described is the covalent assembly of heterosupermolecules from TiO2 nanocrystal (TiO2). ruthenium complex (R) and viologen (V) components. Also described is their covalent organization to form a heterosupramolecular assembly. Effective function modulation has proved possible via an intrinsic substrate formed by the TiO2 nanocrystal components. Specifically, under open circuit conditions or upon application of a sufficiently positive potential to the intrinsic substrate, visible light excitation of the ruthenium complex component results in electron transfer to the TiO2 nanocrystal component (95%). Alternatively, upon application of a sufficiently negative potential to the intrinsic substrate, visible light excitation of the ruthenium complex component results in electron transfer to both the TiO2 nanocrystal (48%) and the viologen components (52%). Considered are some implications of these findings for the development of practical devices based on heterosupnumolecular function that is addressable and modulatable on the nanometer scale.

Arene hydrates are water adducts of aromatic molecules that readily dehydrate and aromatise in the presence of acids. The mechanism of this reaction is similar to that for the dehydration of alcohols. Protonation of a hydroxyl group is followed by C-O bond cleavage to form a benzenonium ionlike carbocation intermediate which then loses a proton (in contrast to alcohols, in a fast step) to yield the aromatic product. Rates of reaction are sensitive to the stability of the carbocation. They are also strongly decreased by benzoannelation: thus benzene hydrate is 500 times more reactive than l-hydroxy-l,2-dihydronaphthalene (naphthalene hydrate) which is 100 times more reactive than 9,10-phenanthrene hydrate. For the analogous dehydration of 3-substituted cis-benzenedihydrodiols to phenols p has a normal value of -7.2 but, unexpectedly, rate constants for +M resonance substituents MeO, EtO and Me are correlated by ap rather than a*. Comparison of benzene hydrate with benzene oxide shows, surprisingly, that the latter is the less reactive towards acids despite epoxides normally being 106-107 times more reactive than structurally related alcohols. For a series of arene oxides and hydrates oxide/hydrate rate ratios are inversely related to the resonance energy of the aromatised ring. This behaviour is tentatively ascribed to homoaromatic stabilisation of the arene oxide ring.
