For QC M. avium and M. peregrinum, >= 95% of MIC values were well within recommended QC ranges.Conclusion: As a first step towards clinical breakpoints for NTM, (T)ECOFFs were defined for several antimicrobials against MAC and MAB. This study aims to explain how work stress, work-family conflict, and fatigue affect workers. This study will correlate work fatigue, work stress, and work-family conflict among bank employees. 200 people will be studied. They'll collect study data. "Convenience sampling" was used to sample. Klang Valley was the only factor in selecting this sample. The tests showed that work stress, work-family conflict, and work fatigue have significant p values below 0.05. Work stress, work-family conflict, and fatigue are positive indicators. This study helped us understand how work stress and family conflicts affect individuals and organisations. With the limitations of the study recommendations in the future provided, organisational psychology's growing body of knowledge supports the idea that academics and industry professionals should focus on work-family balance and mental health.

Liquidity Ratio is the most important factor in a plantation company's success. The study examined how Malaysian plantation companies' ROA, ROE, and ROIC are affected by liquidity ratio. Thus, a cause-and-effect analysis is used to determine how the variables current ratio (CR), quick ratio (QR), and cash conversion cycle (CCC) affect return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and return on capital (ROIC). This study collects data from the Company's Financial Report. A company's financial status can be obtained from its financial reports, which can also be used for research. Company Financial Reports are secondary data. Liquidity ratios with Independent Variables Current Ratio (CR), Quick Ratio (QR), and Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC) are included. The profitability ratio of Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), and Return on Invested Capital (ROIC) will be the dependent variable. Malaysian plantation companies' profitability is only affected by the quick ratio, according to the findings. This applies only to the quick ratio. The cash conversion cycle negatively impacts return on assets, return on investment capital, and return on investment margin. Despite its small impact, the quick ratio is also said to hurt Malaysian plantation companies' profitability. Discussed are the study's limitations and recommendations for future research.

The electronic, thermodynamic, and optical properties of a new type of twodimensional Janus layer (JL) consisting exclusively of chalcogens are investigated using first principles calculations. The permutations on atomic sites provide increased stability due to the multi-valency of chalcogens, and a heavier central atom further stabilizes the layer due to the increased coordination number. The investigated JLs are indirect bandgap materials with a bandgap larger than 1.23 eV, making them suitable for photocatalytic activity. Different feasible chemical potentials are analyzed, and chalcogens’ poor limits are proposed to fabricate the JLs. Based on the comparison of the formation energy, the energetic profile of the JLs is identified as Ef(TeSeS) < Ef(SSeTe) < Ef(SeSTe), irrespective of the chemical potentials of chalcogen. Hence, TeSeS is more stable than the JL arrangements SSeTe and SeSTe. The flat bands around the Fermi energy level and the reduction in path length between the maximum of conduction and minimum of valence bands explain the magnitude of multiple peaks observed in the optical spectra of the JLs. These absorptions turn the studied JLs into potential candidates for water splitting. The optimized bandgap reveals that the band edges efficiently straddle the water redox potentials at different pH levels. In addition, the positive vibrational frequencies depict the stability of these layers. Because of the minimal formation energy requirement, higher density of states around the Fermi level, as well as enhanced optical absorption compared to other JL, TeSeS JLs may lead to enhanced performance in photovoltaic and photocatalytic applications. These results add new members to the JL family of pure chalcogens and pave the way toward novel materials for respective applications.

First-principle calculations are performed to investigate Y substitutional defects at ground state and at 1000 K, for Ba- and Zr-rich chemical environments. In dependence on the Fermi level, at ground state singly positively charged Y may be potentially stable on Ba site (YBa1+) and neutral as well as singly negatively charged Y on Zr site ( YZr0 and YZr1-). However, using recent results for the doubly positively charged oxygen vacancy (VO2+) and taking account charge compensation, Fermi level pinning occurs, so that under Ba-rich conditions YZr1- and VO2+ are really stable. A similar consideration yields YBa1+ and YZr1- as stable defects in the Zr-rich case. Concerning VO2+, which occurrence is a prerequisite to obtain a good proton conductor, by Y doping, at ground state only in the Ba-rich case a moderate concentration can be formed. At 1000 K the situation is improved importantly. The consideration of vibrational contributions to the free formation energy of Y on Zr site shows an increase of the stability of YZr0 and YZr1-. Under Ba-rich conditions Fermi level pinning results in a free formation energy for VO2+ of 0.481 eV which corresponds to a high VO2+ concentration and optimum conditions for proton conduction. In Zr-rich case the respective value is 0.863 eV which leads also to relatively high VO2+ occurrence but the situation is somewhat less favourable than for the Ba-rich environment.

"Flipped classroom" business English classes are required at most universities that teach economics, and this study will investigate how these classes help students learn critical thinking skills and improve their academic performance, as well as what students think of this model. A multimedia textbook titled "English for Business" enhances the learning environment. This was an exploratory investigation that used a range of methodologies. The study examined children's critical thinking and academic progress (learning outcomes). Surveys of students' critical thinking abilities and placement assessments were utilized to acquire statistical data. The Cronbach alpha coefficients were used to evaluate the critical thinking test outcomes, and the aggregated data was analyzed using SPSS AMOS statistical software. The study revealed that teaching ESP and Business English to Economics students via the "flipped schoolroom" technique can enrich both the learners' and instructors' education experiences. Because students are held responsible for their progress, this method develops critical thinking skills and academic accomplishment by using a variety of teaching methods. A student-centered approach replaces the teacher-centered approach in the preceding paradigm. Students at colleges and universities are increasingly using language as a medium of instruction rather than rote memorization, as demonstrated by business English and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.

Background Prolonged recovery is common after acute SARS-CoV-2 infection; however, the pathophysiological mechanisms underpinning Long COVID syndrome remain unknown. VWF/ADAMTS-13 imbalance, dysregulated angiogenesis, and immunothrombosis are hallmarks of acute COVID-19. We hypothesized that VWF/ADAMTS-13 imbalance persists in convalescence together with endothelial cell (EC) activation and angiogenic disturbance. Additionally, we postulate that ongoing immune cell dysfunction may be linked to sustained EC and coagulation activation. Patients and methods Fifty patients were reviewed at a minimum of 6 weeks following acute COVID-19. ADAMTS-13, Weibel Palade Body (WPB) proteins, and angiogenesis-related proteins were assessed and clinical evaluation and immunophenotyping performed. Comparisons were made with healthy controls (n = 20) and acute COVID-19 patients (n = 36). Results ADAMTS-13 levels were reduced (p = 0.009) and the VWF-ADAMTS-13 ratio was increased in convalescence (p = 0.0004). Levels of platelet factor 4 (PF4), a putative protector of VWF, were also elevated (p = 0.0001). A non-significant increase in WPB proteins Angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) and Osteoprotegerin (OPG) was observed in convalescent patients and WPB markers correlated with EC parameters. Enhanced expression of 21 angiogenesis-related proteins was observed in convalescent COVID-19. Finally, immunophenotyping revealed significantly elevated intermediate monocytes and activated CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in convalescence, which correlated with thrombin generation and endotheliopathy markers, respectively. Conclusion Our data provide insights into sustained EC activation, dysregulated angiogenesis, and VWF/ADAMTS-13 axis imbalance in convalescent COVID-19. Background: Aging increases aortic stiffness, contributing to cardiovascular risk even in healthy individuals. Aortic stiffness is reduced through supervised training programs, but these are not easily generalizable. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine whether real-world exercise training for a first-time marathon can reverse age-related aortic stiffening. Methods: Untrained healthy individuals underwent 6 months of training for the London Marathon. Assessment pre-training and 2 weeks post-marathon included central (aortic) blood pressure and aortic stiffness using cardiovascular magnetic resonance distensibility. Biological “aortic age” was calculated from the baseline chronological age-stiffness relationship. Change in stiffness was assessed at the ascending (Ao-A) and descending aorta at the pulmonary artery bifurcation (Ao-P) and diaphragm (Ao-D). Data are mean changes (95% confidence intervals [CIs]). Results: A total of 138 first-time marathon completers (age 21 to 69 years, 49% male) were assessed, with an estimated training schedule of 6 to 13 miles/week. At baseline, a decade of chronological aging correlated with a decrease in Ao-A, Ao-P, and Ao-D distensibility by 2.3, 1.9, and 3.1 × 10−3 mm Hg−1, respectively (p < 0.05 for all). Training decreased systolic and diastolic central (aortic) blood pressure by 4 mm Hg (95% CI: 2.8 to 5.5 mm Hg) and 3 mm Hg (95% CI: 1.6 to 3.5 mm Hg). Descending aortic distensibility increased (Ao-P: 9%; p = 0.009; Ao-D: 16%; p = 0.002), while remaining unchanged in the Ao-A. These translated to a reduction in “aortic age” by 3.9 years (95% CI: 1.1 to 7.6 years) and 4.0 years (95% CI: 1.7 to 8.0 years) (Ao-P and Ao-D, respectively). Aims: Marathon running is a popular ambition in modern societies inclusive of non-athletes. Previous studies have highlighted concerning transient myocardial dysfunction and biomarker release immediately after the race. Whether this method of increasing physical activity is beneficial or harmful remains a matter of debate. We examine in detail the real-world cardiovascular remodeling response following competition in a first marathon. Methods: Sixty-eight novice marathon runners (36 men and 32 women) aged 30 ± 3 years were investigated 6 months before and 2 weeks after the 2016 London Marathon race in a prospective observational study. Evaluation included electrocardiography, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, echocardiography, and cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging. Results: After 17 weeks unsupervised marathon training, runners revealed a symmetrical, eccentric remodeling response with 3–5% increases in left and right ventricular cavity sizes, respectively. Blood pressure (BP) fell by 4/2 mmHg (P < 0.01) with reduction in arterial stiffness, despite only 11% demonstrating a clinically meaningful improvement in peak oxygen consumption with an overall non-significant 0.4 ml/min/kg increase in peak oxygen consumption (P = 0.14). Conclusion: In the absence of supervised training, exercise-induced cardiovascular remodeling in real-world novice marathon runners is more modest than previously described and occurs even without improvement in cardiorespiratory fitness. The responses are similar in men and women, who experience a beneficial BP reduction and no evidence of myocardial fibrosis or persistent edema, when achieving average finishing times.

Computed tomography angiogram of the brain showed a ruptured anterior communicating artery aneurysm. Diagnostic conventional angiogram of the brain was planned; however, difficulty was encountered during bilateral femoral artery cannulation with the abrupt termination of bilateral common iliac arteries. Computed tomography angiogram of the abdomen showed incidental finding of total occlusion of the abdominal aorta. As a conclusion, total occlusion of abdominal aorta secondary to aortoiliac occlusive disease with an associated intracranial aneurysm is never reported in the literature to date. This case highlights the possibility of association in between these two conditions which may benefit from further research.

Left-sided nephrectomy was performed, and histopathology demonstrated left-sided Wilms tumor with favorable histology. Background Persistent symptoms including breathlessness, fatigue, and decreased exercise tolerance have been reported in patients after acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. The biological mechanisms underlying this “long COVID” syndrome remain unknown. However, autopsy studies have highlighted the key roles played by pulmonary endotheliopathy and microvascular immunothrombosis in acute COVID-19. Objectives To assess whether endothelial cell activation may be sustained in convalescent COVID-19 patients and contribute to long COVID pathogenesis. Patients and Methods Fifty patients were reviewed at a median of 68 days following SARS-CoV-2 infection. In addition to clinical workup, acute phase markers, endothelial cell (EC) activation and NETosis parameters and thrombin generation were assessed. Results Thrombin generation assays revealed significantly shorter lag times (p < .0001, 95% CI −2.57 to −1.02 min), increased endogenous thrombin potential (p = .04, 95% CI 15–416 nM/min), and peak thrombin (p < .0001, 95% CI 39–93 nM) in convalescent COVID-19 patients. These prothrombotic changes were independent of ongoing acute phase response or active NETosis. Importantly, EC biomarkers including von Willebrand factor antigen (VWF:Ag), VWF propeptide (VWFpp), and factor VIII were significantly elevated in convalescent COVID-19 compared with controls (p = .004, 95% CI 0.09–0.57 IU/ml; p = .009, 95% CI 0.06–0.5 IU/ml; p = .04, 95% CI 0.03–0.44 IU/ml, respectively). In addition, plasma soluble thrombomodulin levels were significantly elevated in convalescent COVID-19 (p = .02, 95% CI 0.01–2.7 ng/ml). Sustained endotheliopathy was more frequent in older, comorbid patients, and those requiring hospitalization. Finally, both plasma VWF:Ag and VWFpp levels correlated inversely with 6-min walk tests. Conclusions Collectively, our findings demonstrate that sustained endotheliopathy is common in convalescent COVID-19 and raise the intriguing possibility that this may contribute to long COVID p

Total occlusion of the abdominal aorta is a rare occurrence with an incidence of 3% -8.5% among the aortoiliac occlusive disease patients. We present a case of a 53 years old patient with a background history of hypertension and ex intravenous drug abuser with negative retroviral screening status, with no previous complaints who was brought to the Emergency Department with sudden onset of altered sensorium and 1 episode of seizure. Computed tomography angiogram of the brain showed a ruptured anterior communicating artery aneurysm. Diagnostic conventional angiogram of the brain was planned; however, difficulty was encountered during bilateral femoral artery cannulation with the abrupt termination of bilateral common iliac arteries. Computed tomography angiogram of the abdomen showed incidental finding of total occlusion of the abdominal aorta. As a conclusion, total occlusion of abdominal aorta secondary to aortoiliac occlusive disease with an associated intracranial aneurysm is never reported in the literature to date. This case highlights the possibility of association in between these two conditions which may benefit from further research.
