1. Academic networks and personal branding in the open education movement

Abstract: In recent years, social networks and various models of virtual communities have become important spaces for exchanging educational and scientific content and experiences. This chapter identifies the different functions of such networks in education based on a critical review of the emerging scientific literature on the topic. It also examines how the participation of academics in communities of practice and (virtual) affinity spaces contribute to the professional development of educators and researchers. It also analyses how this networking constitutes an essential component within academic and scientific professional practices when creating a personal brand. This chapter advocates for the 2 integration of professional branding with the creation and dissemination of open educational publications and resources. This study shows how participation in open communities of practice can help amplify the reach and impact of open educational resources and scientific publications through transmedia communication strategies. Being part of these networks enriches the professional brand and favours the sustainability of academic projects by appealing to and involving different sectors of society. Mentoring and training should be prioritised to support the intersection of communities of practice and professional branding, thereby contributing to the open educational movement across various universities and educational settings nationally and internationally.

Abstract: Projected warming and intensification of the hydrological cycle across the Amazon threatens the functioning of some of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet. Interfluvial wetlands, or wetlands fed directly by precipitation or small streams, may be some of the most vulnerable to future hydroclimatic changes. In this study, we investigated a 7300-year-old sedimentary archive from an upland palm swamp in the Yasuní National Park (Ecuador) to reconstruct past vegetation dynamics, palaeo-hydroclimatic conditions and human history using pollen, charcoal and geochemical analysis. Pollen data revealed: i) a forest composition influenced by dry conditions 6000 years ago, ii) the development of a palm swamp 4500 years ago, and iii) the establishment of the modern closed-canopy Mauritia flexuosa dominated swamp (moretal) 400 years ago. X-ray fluorescence data indicated that changes in vegetation composition were related to fluctuations in relative moisture levels, which occurred coeval to identified regional climatic events, particularly the Mid Holocene Dry Event (MHDE). Analysis of charcoal revealed continuous presence of fire, albeit at very low levels, since 5000 cal yr BP, with increased values during the last millennium. Our results suggest a footprint of hydroclimatic transitions in the mid-to-late Holocene in the aseasonal forests of the northwest Amazon, highlighting the need to better understand the long-term ecology of these systems to better protect them in light of future climatic change.

Abstract: [EN] ATTR amyloidosis is caused by the deposition of transthyretin in the form of amyloid fibrils in virtually every organ of the body, including the heart. This systemic deposition leads to a phenotypic variability that has not been molecularly explained yet. In brain amyloid conditions, previous studies suggest an association between clinical phenotype and the molecular structures of their amyloid fibrils. Here we investigate whether there is such an association in ATTRv amyloidosis patients carrying the mutation I84S. Using cryo-electron microscopy, we determined the structures of cardiac fibrils extracted from three ATTR amyloidosis patients carrying the ATTRv-I84S mutation, associated with a consistent clinical phenotype. We found that in each ATTRv-I84S patient, the cardiac fibrils exhibited different local conformations, and these variations can co-exist within the same fibril. Our finding suggests that one amyloid disease may associate with multiple fibril structures in systemic amyloidoses, calling for further studies., [ES]

Abstract: Myriad policy, ethical and legal considerations underpin the sharing of biological resources, implying the need for standardised and yet flexible ways to digitally represent diverse 'use conditions'. We report a core lexicon of terms that are atomic, non-directional 'concepts of use', called Common Conditions of use Elements. This work engaged biobanks and registries relevant to the European Joint Programme for Rare Diseases and aimed to produce a lexicon that would have generalised utility. Seventy-six concepts were initially identified from diverse real-world settings, and via iterative rounds of deliberation and user-testing these were optimised and condensed down to 20 items. To validate utility, support software and training information was provided to biobanks and registries who were asked to create Sharing Policy Profiles. This succeeded and involved adding standardised directionality and scope annotations to the employed terms. The addition of free-text parameters was also explored. The approach is now being adopted by several real-world projects, enabling this standard to evolve progressively into a universal basis for representing and managing conditions of use.

Abstract: Technology has become the most important tool in students and teachers in the educational field which allows to incorporate and apply strategies that improve the quality of education and learning; therefore, this article has as an objective to know the impact of the flipped classroom in higher education students, using as a strategy the implementation of the Edpuzzle platform that promotes a dynamic, interactive, and attractive learning. The research was conducted based on observational design with a descriptive quantitative focus applied in two academic bimesters in which initially the lack concentration and little importance in the subject was detected, being reflected in the low grades obtained in the development of the subject. Once the platform was applied, it got positive changes in the academic performance like the motivation and students’ autonomy., La tecnología se ha convertido uno de los mayores aleados tanto de estudiantes como de docentes en el ámbito educativo, lo que permite ir incorporando y aplicando estrategias que mejoren la calidad educativa y el aprendizaje, por tanto, el presente artículo tiene como objetivo conocer el impacto que tiene el aula invertida en los estudiantes de educación superior, utilizando como estrategia la implementación de la plataforma Edpuzzle que promueva un aprendizaje interactivo dinámico y atractivo. El estudio fue realizado en base a un diseño observacional con enfoque cuantitativo de tipo descriptivo aplicado en dos bimestres académicos en el que incialmente se detecta la falta de concentración y poca importancia en la materia viendose reflejado en las bajas calificaciones obtenidas en el desarrollo de la materia. Una vez aplicado la plataforma se obtuvo como resultado cambios positivos en el rendimiento académico, motivación y autonomía de los estudiantes.

Abstract: The master's thesis proposes an educational innovation project, applying an active methodology such as gamification for the teaching-learning process in the study of the control structures of the Python programming language, focused at students in the third semester of the specialty of software development of the superior technological institute "Mariano Samaniego" of the city of Cariamanga. The gamified project searchs for students to enter the study of programming, being a subject that for many is difficult; with the implementation of gamification, serious games, the dynamization of content and innovative experiences, it is sought that the study of topics related to the Python language is more tolerable and therefore the learning curve is reached in less time. For the development of the project, seven sessions are proposed, where the narrative is the guiding thread of the project, establishing a set of missions in which the students are the main protagonists, they will apply the knowledge acquired, whether it is taught by the teacher or by research carried out and that will be helpful to finish the project, likewise the use of this methodology helps to understand the issues due to its innovative and contextual nature., El presente proyecto de innovación educativa aplicando una metodología activa como es la gamificación para el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje en el estudio de las estructuras de control del lenguaje de programación Python, destinado a los estudiantes del tercer semestre de la especialidad de Desarrollo de Software del Instituto Tecnológico Superior Mariano Samaniego de la ciudad de Cariamanga; este proyecto gamificado busca que los estudiantes se adentren en el estudio de la programación, siendo un tema que resulta difícil; con la implementación de la gamificación, los juegos serios, la dinamización de contenidos y las experiencias innovadoras se busca que el estudio de temas relacionados al lenguaje de Python sea más llevadero y por ende la curva de aprendizaje se alcance en menor tiempo. Para el desarrollo del proyecto se plantean siete sesiones, donde la narrativa es el hilo conductor del proyecto, estableciendo un conjunto de misiones en la que los estudiantes son los principales protagonistas, ellos aplicarán los conocimientos adquiridos sea impartidos por el docente o por investigaciones realizadas y que serán de ayuda para finalizar el proyecto, así mismo el uso de esta metodología ayuda a comprender los temas debido a su naturaleza innovadora y contextual.

Abstract: This paper describes the influence of project-based learning in the Software Development career of the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Mariano Samaniego. The methodology used is quantitative and cross-sectional, data from three academic periods are analyzed and compared, where the improvement in grade point averages was evidenced. In addition, the CEMPA Questionnaire of Effectiveness of the Use of Active Participation Methodologies was used to measure the students' perception of learning. The results found indicate that project-based learning generates a satisfactory learning perception in students and motivates an increase in the number of students who choose the degree work option to complete their studies., El presente trabajo describe la influencia del aprendizaje basado en proyectos en la carrera Desarrollo de Software del Instituto Superior Tecnológico Mariano Samaniego. La metodología empleada es de tipo cuantitativo de corte transversal, se analizan y comparan datos de tres periodos académicos donde se evidenció la mejora en los promedios de notas. Además, se utiliza el Cuestionario de Efectividad del Uso de Metodologías de Participación Activa CEMPA, para medir la percepción de aprendizaje de los estudiantes. Los resultados encontrados indican que el aprendizaje basado en proyectos genera una percepción de aprendizaje satisfactoria en los estudiantes y motiva al incremento del número de estudiantes que eligen la opción de trabajo de titulación para culminar sus estudios.

8. Manifestaciones orales del COVID-19 en Paraguay: resultados de una encuesta en línea.

Abstract: Introduction: Previous studies have reported that patients infected with the COVID-19 virus could manifest symptoms in the oral cavity. Objective: To evaluate the frequency of oral manifestations associated with COVID-19 in a segment of the Paraguayan population and determine the most prevalent ones. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study. An electronic survey was conducted from January to March 2022. The data were presented as frequencies and percentages and analyzed using the chi-square test. Statistical analysis was performed with R software version 4.0.3. Results: The sample consisted of 478 individuals. 79.50% were female, and 45.19% were between 25 and 34 years old. 65.48% reported having experienced at least 1 oral symptom or sign during the course of COVID-19. The loss of the sensation of bitter tastes, followed by the alteration of the taste of foods and the loss of sweetness perception, were the most common symptoms. A significantly higher proportion of oral manifestations was found in the 18-24 age range (?²; p= 0.003). Among people who developed COVID-19 in a moderate to severe form, a greater number of oral symptom manifestations were observed (?²; p= 0.044). Discussion: A high frequency of oral manifestations was identified in patients with moderate to severe cases of COVID-19, with taste disorders standing out as the most predominant. Younger individuals were the most affected., Introducción: Estudios previos han reportado que pacientes infectados con el virus del COVID-19, podrían manifestar sintomatologías a nivel de la cavidad oral. Objetivo: Evaluar la frecuencia de manifestaciones orales asociadas a COVID-19 en un segmento de la población paraguaya y determinar cuáles son las más prevalentes. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal. Fue realizada una encuesta electrónica de enero a marzo del 2022. Los datos fueron presentados como frecuencias y porcentajes y analizados mediante la prueba de chi-cuadrado. El análisis estadístico se realizó con el software R versión 4.0.3. Resultados: La muestra estuvo compuesta por 478 personas. El 79,50 % correspondió al sexo femenino y el 45,19 % tenía entre 25 y 34 años. El 65,48 % informó haber experimentado al menos 1 síntoma o signo oral durante el curso de COVID-19. La pérdida de la sensación de sabores amargos, seguida de la alteración del sabor de los alimentos y la pérdida de la percepción dulce, fueron los síntomas más comunes. Se encontró una proporción significativamente mayor de manifestaciones orales en el rango de 18-24 años (?²; p= 0,003). Entre las personas que desarrollaron COVID-19 de forma moderada a severa hubo mayor número de manifestaciones de síntomas orales (?²; p= 0,044). Discusión: Se identificó una alta frecuencia de manifestaciones orales en pacientes con casos de moderados a severos de COVID-19, destacándose los trastornos del gusto como los más predominantes. Los individuos más jóvenes fueron los más afectados.

Abstract: Con este Proyecto de Innovación y Mejora de la Calidad Docente, de carácter institucional, se pretende dar continuidad a la etapa de innovación y formación docente que se inició el pasado Curso 2018-2019 en la Facultad de Geografía e Historia de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, así como a las anteriores iniciativas de la Facultad de Geografía e Historia en materia de nuevas tecnologías. El objetivo de este proyecto, siguiendo la metodología de los seis años anteriores, ha pretendido promover en la Facultad una formación en el ámbito de la innovación educativa y de las nuevas tecnologías basada en: (i) la formación del Profesorado, del Personal de Administración y Servicios, y de estudiantes del Centro y (ii) en el intercambio de experiencias innovadoras entre representantes de estos colectivos, para poder hacer uso de las mismas en su desempeño docente, administrativo y formativo, respectivamente. Abstract: This chapter proposes a pedagogical model that integrates meaningful mediation practices in second/additional language (L2) teaching and learning based on the analysis and comparison of transmediation processes and semiotic adaptation. Beyond the traditional conceptualisation of mediation in terms of translation, it considers a broader multimodal perspective and the need to integrate learners' experiences in digital and media environments. This proposal, which is based on innovative educational work carried out in several national and international research projects, aims to broaden L2 learners' critical metalanguage, enhance their mediation skills through visual and intersemiotic analysis and facilitate the understanding of the strategies involved in transmedia and crossmedia storytelling. The first part examines the dynamic and complex nature of the concept of mediation. The second part analyses various intermedial phenomena that connect translation, adaptation and transmediation, and establishes the educational potential of these processes. The next section considers how the processes involved in the translation of literary monomodal texts into multimodal texts (graphic novels, films or television series) can be exploited in L2 teaching and learning. Examples of worksheets and teaching activities are provided to help students develop a deeper understanding of the processes and strategies involved in the intersemiotic transfer of intermediate adaptations. This chapter highlights how changes in media ecology provide new opportunities for innovative teaching projects in the field of translation that benefit from students' cultural practices.

13. Enhancing series/serials literacy and multilingual competences: Jane the Virgin in the EFL classroom

Abstract: This chapter analyses the potential of the series Jane the Virgin (2014-2019) for the EFL classroom. This US comedy-drama, created by Jennie Snyder Urman, is loosely based on Juana la Virgen (2002), a popular Venezuelan telenovela. Set in Miami, this remake follows three generations of women: Jane Villanueva, a young, hard-working VenezuelanAmerican who is accidentally artificially inseminated; her single mother, Xiomara; and Alba, her religious grandmother, who is a first-generation immigrant and speaks mainly in Spanish. With mostly a Latino cast, this romantic-drama adaptation follows the conventions and themes of the telenovela genre while, at the same time, deconstructing some of the tropes associated with the telenovela paradigm. This chapter explores the possibilities offered by the bilingual and multicultural nature of this ‘millennial telenovela’ in the EFL classroom (secondary education, 13+ age, level B1-B2). The first part of the chapter looks at the characteristics of this fast-paced modern telenovela produced for the growing Hispanic millennial audience in the US: the complexity of themes, characters and mix of drama and comedy. The second section explores the notion of multilingualism in screen media and how its representation matters in our current superdiverse society. This type of television series can provide a good illustration of the language ideology and multilingual practices in the country of production and beyond, given the shifting contexts of audio-visual media spectatorship due to the growth of streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. The bilingual show provides a wealth of examples of multimodal communication, as well as opportunities for cultural learning due to the social nature of some of its content. The third part suggests a series of pre-, while and post-viewing activities to develop the students’ series/serials literacy and multilingual competences. Abstract: While pesticide use is subject to strict regulatory oversight worldwide, it remains a main concern for environmental protection, including biodiversity conservation. This is partly due to the current regulatory approach that relies on separate assessments for each single pesticide, crop use, and non-target organism group at local scales. Such assessments tend to overlook the combined effects of overall pesticide usage at larger spatial scales. Integrative landscape-based approaches are emerging, enabling the consideration of agricultural management, the environmental characteristics, and the combined effects of pesticides applied in a same or in different crops within an area. These developments offer the opportunity to deliver informative risk predictions relevant for different decision contexts including their connection to larger spatial scales and to combine environmental risks of pesticides, with those from other environmental stressors. We discuss the needs, challenges, opportunities and available tools for implementing landscape-based approaches for prospective and retrospective pesticide Environmental Risk Assessments (ERA). A set of “building blocks” that emerged from the discussions have been integrated into a conceptual framework. The framework includes elements to facilitate its implementation, in particular: flexibility to address the needs of relevant users and stakeholders; means to address the inherent complexity of environmental systems; connections to make use of and integrate data derived from monitoring programs; and options for validation and approaches to facilitate future use in a regulatory context. The conceptual model can be applied to existing ERA methodologies, facilitating its comparability, and highlighting interoperability drivers at landscape level. Abstract: Considering the vast extent they occupy, tropical South American lowlands represent a region largely understudied, limiting obtaining accurate information of the plant communities¿ dynamics of such an ecologically and economic important area. Some of the reasons for this low density of available studies are the difficulty of arriving and exploring the study area, or even once there, finding suitable locations. Among the problems for finding suitable records, western Amazonia has been highlighted as a very geomorphologically active location, preventing the development of long, continuous sediments spanning several thousand years without a sedimentary gap or hiatus. This region has also been highlighted as less likely to hold evidence in the present-day landscape of dense pre-Columbian populations. Here we present a Holocene sequence of western northern Amazonian lowlands, in the Ecuadorian Yasuní National Park, that spans the last 6000 years. The results show the continuous presence of a rainforest, but with a high dynamism changing the abundance of the dominant taxa several times during the last 6000 years. In this sense, the forest with a higher evenness is the present-day one, established during the last millennium. It is suggested that changes in the vegetation were primarily driven by geomorphological activity including shifts in the drainage system. Based on the occurrence of fire peaks and cultivars, the presence of humans in the study site around 5000 years ago seems quite plausible, which could have been only sporadic in the study area. However, it is noteworthy the absence of large changes in the vegetation coeval to the anthropogenic indicators. Today, the study site is inhabited by Waorani indigenous, and archaeological remains have been found nearby from the formative period, 3000 years later. The results showed here evidence the limitations to calculate pre-Columbian peoples only based on visible prints in present-day landscapes.

Abstract: The Neotropics provide ecosystem services from local to global scales, and they are among the regions currently most threatened by the ongoing global change. To anticipate long lasting or irreversible socioecological and economic consequences, a robust understanding of Neotropical ecosystems' dynamics is needed. Palaeoecology can provide empirical data of long-term biological communities' dynamics, as well as pinpoint the nature of the driving forces involved in these changes. PALAB (Paleoecology Lab) research group uses a multidisciplinary approach based on the fossil record to study the relationships between ecosystems, humans, and environmental drives such as climate or volcanic activity that can trigger ecosystem changes. We analyse these relationships through the study of microscopic remains mostly from biological origin such as pollen grains, diatoms or charcoal particles, preserved in sedimentary archives, including lake sediments, peat bogs or swamps. Main research interests of PALAB include: a) Past vegetation responses to environmental change; b) Non-anthropogenic versus anthropogenic causes of palaeoecological change; c) Late Quaternary (last 50,000 years) in the Neotropics; d) Tropical ecology and palaeoecology, e) Global change from a palaeoclimatic perspective, f) Terrestrial-aquatic environments' interactions, feedbacks and cascade effects, and g) Socio- ecological systems response to natural hazards and climate change. The present communication will show several ongoing projects lead by the group, focused on: i) modern and fossil signal of mountain plant communities of Mexico; ii) responses of Amazonian forests to past and present hydrological changes; iii) evaluation of ancient practices for large scale food production in flood-prone environments; or iv) environmental degradation due to recent land use change.

Abstract: We present a new parametric lens model for the G165.7+67.0 galaxy cluster, which was discovered with $Planck$ through its bright submillimeter flux, originating from a pair of extraordinary dusty star-forming galaxies (DSFGs) at $z\approx 2.2$. Using JWST and interferometric mm/radio observations, we characterize the intrinsic physical properties of the DSFGs, which are separated by only $\sim 1^{\prime\prime}$ (8 kpc) and a velocity difference $\Delta V \lesssim 600~{\rm km}~{\rm s}^{-1}$ in the source plane, and thus likely undergoing a major merger. Boasting intrinsic star formation rates ${\rm SFR}_{\rm IR} = 320 \pm 70$ and $400 \pm 80~ M_\odot~{\rm yr}^{-1}$, stellar masses ${\rm log}[M_\star/M_\odot] = 10.2 \pm 0.1$ and $10.3 \pm 0.1$, and dust attenuations $A_V = 1.5 \pm 0.3$ and $1.2 \pm 0.3$, they are remarkably similar objects. We perform spatially-resolved pixel-by-pixel SED fitting using rest-frame near-UV to near-IR imaging from JWST/NIRCam for both galaxies, resolving some stellar structures down to 100 pc scales. Based on their resolved specific SFRs and $UVJ$ colors, both DSFGs are experiencing significant galaxy-scale star formation events. If they are indeed interacting gravitationally, this strong starburst could be the hallmark of gas that has been disrupted by an initial close passage. In contrast, the host galaxy of the recently discovered triply-imaged SN H0pe has a much lower SFR than the DSFGs, and we present evidence for the onset of inside-out quenching and large column densities of dust even in regions of low specific SFR. Based on the intrinsic SFRs of the DSFGs inferred from UV through FIR SED modeling, this pair of objects alone is predicted to yield an observable $1.1 \pm 0.2~{\rm CCSNe~yr}^{-1}$, making this cluster field ripe for continued monitoring., Comment: 47 pages, 21 figures, 5 tables. Abstract: Acoustic local positioning systems (ALPSs) are an interesting alternative for indoor positioning due to certain advantages over other approaches, including their relatively high accuracy, low cost, and room-level signal propagation. Centimeter-level or fine-grained indoor positioning can be an asset for robot navigation, guiding a person to, for instance, a particular piece in a museum or to a specific product in a shop, targeted advertising, or augmented reality. In airborne system applications, acoustic positioning can be based on using opportunistic signals or sounds produced by the person or object to be located (e.g., noise from appliances or the speech from a speaker) or from encoded emission beacons (or anchors) specifically designed for this purpose. This work presents a review of the different challenges that designers of systems based on encoded emission beacons must address in order to achieve suitable performance. At low-level processing, the waveform design (coding and modulation) and the processing of the received signal are key factors to address such drawbacks as multipath propagation, multiple-access interference, nearfar effect, or Doppler shifting. With regards to high-level system design, the issues to be addressed are related to the distribution of beacons, ease of deployment, and calibration and positioning algorithms, including the possible fusion of information. Apart from theoretical discussions, this work also includes the description of an ALPS that was implemented, installed in a large area and tested for mobile robot navigation. In addition to practical interest for real applications, airborne ALPSs can also be used as an excellent platform to test complex algorithms, which can be subsequently adapted for other positioning systems, such as underwater acoustic systems or ultrawideband radiofrequency (UWB RF) systems.

24. The impact of the introduction of bilingual learning on sixth grade educational achievement levels

Abstract: Bilingualism was implemented in the Community of Madrid (Spain) more than ten years ago, through the incorporation of the English language in the teaching methods of certain schools. Since that time, various research projects have been carried out, with the objective of comparing the academic performance of students in bilingual schools with those in nonbilingual schools. The present paper makes use of primary education data from the Department of Education and Research for the Community of Madrid in an effort to analyze whether or not bilingualism results in the relative improvement of educational outcomes achieved in primary schools in the Region of Madrid, in Spain. More specifically, the data used is from sixth grade classrooms, given that, generally speaking, in this grade all schools give a standardized test which measures academic performance in Math, Science and Technology, Spanish Language Arts and English Language Arts. Our assessment makes use of a multinomial logit model, and includes the most common variables found in the research on the determination of educational outcomes (variables related to whether or not schools are bilingual, which is the main focus of this paper), as well as other less common variables considered to be relevant. These include absenteeism, satisfaction levels among families and students, and the percentage of students in second chance programs. The results show that bilingualism does not lower children performance in the subjects taught in English or in the subjects taught in Spanish. Academic performance in Mathematics, Scienceand Technology, and Spanish Language Arts is similar with respect to those schoolswhich are not bilingual. Los datos de recursos quirúrgicos y listas de espera por comunidades autónomas se han obtenido de Encuestas de Salud, Estadísticas Hospitalarias e informes de listas de espera del Ministerio de Sanidad Consumo y Bienestar Social y de las Consejerías. El periodo muestral es 2012-2017 (último año publicado para recursos quirúrgicos). Además, se llevó a cabo una revisión de la literatura que permite corroborar la importancia y complejidad de las listas de espera como instrumento de gestión del sistema sanitario (bases de datos Web of Science, SciELO y Dialnet).Resultados: La COVID-19 incrementará las listas de espera, aproximadamente entre el 7,6% y el 19,4%, de pendiendo de la comunidad. No todos los recursos quirúrgicos disponibles tienen la misma importancia ni influyen de la misma manera en la reducción de las personas en espera. Los recursos más significativos son las camas y quirófanos por mil habitantes y no tanto el gasto en hospitales del Sistema Nacional de Salud. Conclusiones: Los modelos de datos de panel permiten conocer la relación entre recursos quirúrgicos y lista de espera, la cual parece ser compleja y diferente entre comunidades. 26. Placental thrombosis in acute phase abortions during experimental Toxoplasma gondii infection in sheep

Abstract: After oral administration of ewes during mid gestation with 2000 freshly prepared sporulated oocysts of T. gondii isolate M4, abortions occurred between days 7 and 11 in 91.6% of pregnant and infected ewes. Afterwards, a further infection was carried out at late gestation in another group of sheep with 500 sporulated oocysts. Abortions happened again between days 9 and 11 post infection (pi) in 58.3% of the infected ewes. Classically, abortions in natural and experimental ovine toxoplasmosis usually occur one month after infection. Few experimental studies have reported the so-called acute phase abortions as early as 7 to 14 days after oral inoculation of oocysts, and pyrexia was proposed to be responsible for abortion, although the underline mechanism was not elucidated. In the present study, all placentas analysed from ewes suffering acute phase abortions showed infarcts and thrombosis in the caruncullar villi of the placentomes and ischemic lesions (periventricular leukomalacia) in the brain of some foetuses. The parasite was identified by PCR in samples from some placentomes of only one sheep, and no antigen was detected by immunohistochemical labelling. These findings suggest that the vascular lesions found in the placenta, and the consequent hypoxic damage to the foetus, could be associated to the occurrence of acute phase abortions. Abstract: El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo, explorar y evaluar diversos aglutinantes de origen natural, con el objetivo de desarrollar un material de construcción aislante térmico llevado a cabo a partir de residuos de posidonia oceánica. La posidonia oceánica es un material que se encuentra en gran cantidad en zonas costeras del mar Mediterráneo y en los últimos años se plantea como alternativa sostenible para llevar a cabo la fabricación de materiales de construcción. Se busca determinar la viabilidad de utilizar estos aglutinantes para crear un material compuesto que no solo ofrezca propiedades de aislamiento térmico efectivas, sino que también promueva la sostenibilidad ambiental al reutilizar los residuos de posidonia. El objetivo final es contribuir al desarrollo de soluciones innovadoras en el campo de la construcción sostenible y reducir el impacto ambiental de los materiales de construcción convencionales. El estudio se llevó a cabo mediante la preparación de muestras que contenían diferentes proporciones de posidonia oceánica y aglutinante. Se evaluaron las propiedades térmicas y de reacción al fuego de los materiales compuestos obtenidos para determinar su idoneidad como material de construcción. En resumen, este trabajo ofrece una contribución significativa al campo de los materiales de construcción sostenibles al presentar una nueva alternativa para la reutilización de residuos de posidonia oceánica en la fabricación de aislantes térmicos, lo que podría tener un impacto positivo en la reducción de residuos costeros y en la promoción de prácticas de construcción más respetuosas con el medio ambiente.

Abstract: This paper explores financial integration dynamics in the EU since the Maastricht Treaty by providing an articulated and structured historical narrative that analyses the progress that the EU has made in building the regulatory framework for an integrated financial system by introducing supranational rules and policies. To some extent these have been conducive to financial integration since the creation of the Economic and Monetary Union. The paper identifies key stages in the EU's financial integration trajectory since the Maastricht Treaty and highlights some of the institutional, regulatory and policy issues that have contributed (and are contributing) to strengthening financial integration in the EU. While revealing a narrative of policy-led financial integration, the paper relies on two complementary analytical lenses: supranationalisation of policies fostering financial integration triggered by crises; and that regardless of crises. The article specifically elaborates on two empirical examples: the Banking Union; and enhancing the Anti-Money Laundering Framework in the EU.

Abstract: Background: Fall prevention is an important indicator of the quality of patient care. Prevention includes the use of adequate footwear. Our objective is to determine the differences in the number of falls between patients with “adequate footwear” and “non slip socks”, and their associated consequences, to support their use in the prevention of falls among hospitalized patients. Methods: This is an observational prospective study on inpatient falls. Patient characteristics, fall circumstances, and injuries were collected through Clinical Report Forms, a review of fall reports, and medical records. Admitted patients over 18 years old were recruited from Geriatric and Internal Medicine Units over a brief period of 3 months. Results: A total of 158 hospitalized patients were recruited. In total, 77 patients (48.73%) were assigned to the non-slip socks group, and 81 (51.27%) were assigned to the adequate footwear group. There were 21 falls during the study period, all of which were experienced by the adequate footwear group (p < 0.0001). The mean age of the patients who fell was 83.14 (range 60–100) years old. The most frequent reasons for admission among the patients who fell were COVID-19 infection (19%) and oncological complications (19%). Overall, 61.9% of patients had a high risk of falling. Most falls (76.1%) occurred in patient rooms, and most of these occurred while wandering around. The most frequent reason for falls was slipping (14/21). For 16 of 21 patients, falls did not have immediate consequences, while 5 had contusions and 1 suffered a wound. Nobody needed to be admitted to the ER or suffered external hemorrhages or loss of consciousness. Conclusions: Non-slip socks represent an adequate alternative to well-fitting rubber-soled footwear. Abstract: La presente investigación tiene como búsqueda interpretar las características de la mediación entre el estudiante y el maestro, en los grados 5° y 10° de la Institución Educativa Gabo de la ciudad de Cartago Valle, a la luz de las teorías de Philippe Meirieu, en prácticas artísticas que permitan contribuir a la transformación del propio quehacer pedagógico, por medio de una serie de observaciones que permitan establecer un perfil de acción de los docentes a estudiar, y que en este caso, son los mismos investigadores. Estos resultados se analizan en relación con las teorías del pensador progresista Philippe Meirieu, quien fortalece desde sus manifiestos con las 7 exigencias de la evolución Copernicana, las relaciones en el aula entre el maestro y estudiante. La triangulación de los resultados y las teorías nos llevan a evidenciar fortalezas en el aula por parte del actuar docente que se entretejen día a día., The present investigation seeks to interpret the characteristics of the mediation between the student and the teacher, in the 5th and 10th grades of the Gabo Educational Institution in the city of Cartago Valle, in light of the theories of Philippe Meirieu, in artistic practices that allow contributing to the transformation of the pedagogical work itself, through a series of observations that allow establishing an action profile of the teachers to be studied, and that in this case, are the same researchers. These results are analyzed in relation to the theories of the progressive thinker Philippe Meirieu, who strengthens from his manifestos with the 7 demands of Copernican evolution, the relationships in the classroom between teacher and student. The triangulation of the results and the theories lead us to demonstrate strengths in the classroom by the teaching act that are interwoven day by day.

Abstract: En el contexto de la COVID-19 han ocurrido diferentes cambios y tensiones en el Sistema Educativo producto de varios factores. La rápida y fuerte transición hacia una formación a distancia apoyada eminentemente en la tecnologia aflorando debilidades en el Sistema Educativo derivadas de la formación del profesorado, la falta de tecnología, carencia de recursos educativos para ser utilizados en la formación virtual a distancia y falta de credibilidad sobre la eficacia de dicha modalidad formativa. Este artículo pone de manifiesto la inexistencia de diferencias en el dominio tecnológico entre los denominados “nativos” e “inmigrantes” digitales, entre estudiantes y docentes. En general, es problemático asumir que los estudiantes son competentes digitales, mientras que los docentes no han desarrollado dicho dominio. Esta ha ocasionado consecuencias negativas que han llevado a las instituciones educativas a desatender la formación de los estudiantes en competencias digitales. No debe confundirse la mera exposición a la tecnología con tener una alta capacidad para utilizarla. Se concluye defendiendo el término estudiantes digitales, en lugar de nativos digitales. Por ello, se discute que la alfabetización digital no implica solo manejar las herramientas tecnológicas, sino también pensar y solucionar problemas en una sociedad digital., No contexto da COVID-19, ocorreram diferentes mudanças e tensões no sistema educativo como resultado de vários fatores. A rápida e forte transição para um sistema de ensino a distância baseado principalmente na tecnologia trouxe à superfície as deficiências do sistema educativo derivadas da formação de professores, a falta de tecnologia, a falta de recursos educativos a serem utilizados no ensino virtual a distância e a falta de credibilidade no que diz respeito à eficácia dessa modalidade de formação. Este artigo destaca a falta de diferenças no domínio tecnológico entre os chamados ”nativos” e ”imigrantes” digitais, entre estudantes e professores. Em geral, é problemático assumir que os estudantes são digitalmente competentes, enquanto os professores não desenvolveram tal proficiência. Isso ocasionou consequências negativas que levaram as instituições educativas a negligenciar a formação dos estudantes em competências digitais. A mera exposição à tecnologia não deve ser confundida com ter uma elevada capacidade de utilização. Conclui-se defendendo o termo aprendizes digitais, em vez de nativos digitais. The rapid and strong transition towards a distance learning system based mainly on technology has brought to the surface weaknesses in the Education System derived from teacher training, the lack of technology, the lack of educational resources to be used in virtual distance learning and the lack of credibility regarding the effectiveness of this training modality. This article highlights the lack of differences in technological proficiency between so-called digital ”natives” and ”immigrants”, between students and teachers. In general, it is problematic to assume that students are digitally competent, while teachers have not developed such proficiency. This has led to negative consequences that have led educational institutions to neglect the training of students in digital competences. Mere exposure to technology should not be confused with having a high capacity to use it. It concludes by defending the term digital learners, rather than digital natives. Thus, it is argued that digital literacy is not only about handling technological tools, but also about thinking and problem solving in a digital society.

Abstract: Introduction: Covid-19 brought great restrictions to face-to-face classes throughout the university system in Spain. In the field of health sciences, face-to-face teaching has been transformed into a virtual format. In most cases, teaching activities could not be prepared or planned, leading to unprecedented challenges for students and teachers, making it clear that some teachers have not developed an optimal level of digital skills. Materials and methods: This descriptive-comparative study aims to analyse the level of digital teaching competence among the university health sciences teaching staff in two Spanish autonomous communities: Andalusia and Catalonia. 561 teachers participated in the study and answered the DigCompEdu check-In questionnaire. Results: The results show how, in general, the level of their professed digital skills is basic, without significant differences between the participating communities. Further, technological mastery appears to be greater than pedagogical mastery with respect to one of the classroom technologies. The lack of technological training is highlighted and there is a discussion of the structuring of personalized learning itineraries by competences. Conclusions: With regard to possible limitations of the research, we could reflect on the different areas for improvement and how comparative studies between future works with similar characteristics should be approached. One of the main weaknesses lies in the types of samples used, since the intentional sampling method indicates that it is not random, therefore, the results found should be considered non-extrapolatable to other areas of knowledge, Introduction: Covid-19 trajo importantes restricciones a las clases presenciales en todo el sistema universitario español. En ciencias de la salud, la enseñanza presencial se transformó en un formato virtual. En la mayoría de los casos, no ha sido posible planificar las actividades docentes, lo que ha supuesto un reto para alumnado y profesorado, en el que algunos docentes no han desarrollado un nivel óptimo de competencias digitales. Materials and Methods: Este estudio descriptivo-comparativo analiza el nivel de competencia digital docente de los profesores universitarios de ciencias de la salud de dos comunidades autónomas españolas: Andalucía y Cataluña. Participaron 561 profesores que respondieron al cuestionario DigCompEdu check-In. Resultados: Los resultados muestran que, en general, el nivel de competencias digitales impartidas es básico, sin diferencias significativas entre las comunidades participantes. El dominio tecnológico parece ser mayor que el pedagógico con respecto a una de las tecnologías del aula. Se debate sobre la estructuración de los itinerarios de aprendizaje personalizados por competencias. Conclusiones: En cuanto a las posibles limitaciones de la investigación, podríamos reflexionar sobre las diferentes áreas de mejora y cómo se deben abordar los estudios comparativos entre futuros trabajos de similares características. Una de las principales debilidades radica en los tipos de muestras utilizadas, ya que el método de muestreo intencional indica que no es aleatorio, por lo tanto, los resultados encontrados deben considerarse no extrapolables a otras áreas del conocimiento. La incorporación de muestras probabilísticas para cada área a estudiar en futuros estudios permitirá recopilar datos más representativos y extrapolables a nivel mundial.

Abstract: Background: Current management practices and outcomes in weaning from invasive mechanical ventilation are poorly understood. We aimed to describe the epidemiology, management, timings, risk for failure, and outcomes of weaning in patients requiring at least 2 days of invasive mechanical ventilation. Methods: WEAN SAFE was an international, multicentre, prospective, observational cohort study done in 481 intensive care units in 50 countries. Eligible participants were older than 16 years, admitted to a participating intensive care unit, and receiving mechanical ventilation for 2 calendar days or longer. We defined weaning initiation as the first attempt to separate a patient from the ventilator, successful weaning as no reintubation or death within 7 days of extubation, and weaning eligibility criteria based on positive end-expiratory pressure, fractional concentration of oxygen in inspired air, and vasopressors. The primary outcome was the proportion of patients successfully weaned at 90 days. Key secondary outcomes included weaning duration, timing of weaning events, factors associated with weaning delay and weaning failure, and hospital outcomes. This study is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT03255109. Findings: Between Oct 4, 2017, and June 25, 2018, 10 232 patients were screened for eligibility, of whom 5869 were enrolled. 4523 (77·1%) patients underwent at least one separation attempt and 3817 (65·0%) patients were successfully weaned from ventilation at day 90. 237 (4·0%) patients were transferred before any separation attempt, 153 (2·6%) were transferred after at least one separation attempt and not successfully weaned, and 1662 (28·3%) died while invasively ventilated. The median time from fulfilling weaning eligibility criteria to first separation attempt was 1 day (IQR 0-4), and 1013 (22·4%) patients had a delay in initiating first separation of 5 or more days. In most cases, teaching activities could not be prepared or planned, leading to unprecedented challenges for students and teachers, making it clear that some teachers have not developed an optimal level of digital skills. Materials and methods: This descriptive-comparative study aims to analyse the level of digital teaching competence among the university health sciences teaching staff in two Spanish autonomous communities: Andalusia and Catalonia. 561 teachers participated in the study and answered the DigCompEdu check-In questionnaire. Results: The results show how, in general, the level of their professed digital skills is basic, without significant differences between the participating communities. Further, technological mastery appears to be greater than pedagogical mastery with respect to one of the classroom technologies. The lack of technological training is highlighted and there is a discussion of the structuring of personalized learning itineraries by competences. Conclusions: With regard to possible limitations of the research, we could reflect on the different areas for improvement and how comparative studies between future works with similar characteristics should be approached. One of the main weaknesses lies in the types of samples used, since the intentional sampling method indicates that it is not random, therefore, the results found should be considered non-extrapolatable to other areas of knowledge, Introduction: Covid-19 trajo importantes restricciones a las clases presenciales en todo el sistema universitario español. En ciencias de la salud, la enseñanza presencial se transformó en un formato virtual. En la mayoría de los casos, no ha sido posible planificar las actividades docentes, lo que ha supuesto un reto para alumnado y profesorado, en el que algunos docentes no han desarrollado un nivel óptimo de competencias digitales. Materials and Methods: Este estudio descriptivo-comparativo analiza el nivel de competencia digital docente de los profesores universitarios de ciencias de la salud de dos comunidades autónomas españolas: Andalucía y Cataluña. Participaron 561 profesores que respondieron al cuestionario DigCompEdu check-In. Resultados: Los resultados muestran que, en general, el nivel de competencias digitales impartidas es básico, sin diferencias significativas entre las comunidades participantes. El dominio tecnológico parece ser mayor que el pedagógico con respecto a una de las tecnologías del aula. Se debate sobre la estructuración de los itinerarios de aprendizaje personalizados por competencias. Conclusiones: En cuanto a las posibles limitaciones de la investigación, podríamos reflexionar sobre las diferentes áreas de mejora y cómo se deben abordar los estudios comparativos entre futuros trabajos de similares características. Una de las principales debilidades radica en los tipos de muestras utilizadas, ya que el método de muestreo intencional indica que no es aleatorio, por lo tanto, los resultados encontrados deben considerarse no extrapolables a otras áreas del conocimiento. La incorporación de muestras probabilísticas para cada área a estudiar en futuros estudios permitirá recopilar datos más representativos y extrapolables a nivel mundial.

40. Evaluación de la calidad del agua. Afectaciones a grupos y actores sociales del cauce del río Huacapa

Abstract: The objective of the present work was to evaluate the quality of the surface water of the Huacapa river in the population of Chichihualco, state of Guerrero, to analyze the risk of contamination that the abundant population runs to the riverbed. Through a site analysis, the points with the highest water contamination were observed, information on the infrastructure and the urban layout were investigated through the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI, 2020) whit which a cartography was prepared using the ArcGIS program, in which the hydrographic network and the urban layout were represented, as well as the sanitation network and its different construction phases Subsequently, a sample of surface waters was carried out and the results of analytical data were treated with the simplified index of water quality (ISQA) due to the simplicity and security of the results obtained with this method. These results were also represented cartographically (ArcGIS), obtaining the water quality along the channel, as well as the most vulnerable points and the areas most contaminated by waster and solid waste in the study area. With this, it is possible to determine the areas of greatest risk due to water discharges (fecal and solid waste in the lower bed of the channel), located on the periphery of the population and growth areas. Por meio de uma análise do local, foram observados os pontos com maior poluição da água, foram pesquisadas informações sobre a infraestrutura e o traçado urbano por meio do Instituto Nacional de Estatística e Geografia (INEGI, 2020), com o qual foi elaborada uma cartografia utilizando o programa ArcGis, na qual foram representados a rede hidrográfica e o traçado urbano, bem como a rede de saneamento e suas diferentes fases de construção. Posteriormente, foi realizada a amostragem das águas superficiais e os resultados dos dados analíticos foram tratados com o índice simplificado de qualidade da água (ISQA), devido à simplicidade e à segurança dos resultados obtidos com esse método. Esses resultados também foram representados cartograficamente (ArcGIS), obtendo-se a qualidade da água ao longo do curso d'água, bem como os pontos mais vulneráveis e as áreas mais poluídas por águas residuais e resíduos sólidos na área de estudo. Isso possibilitou determinar as áreas de maior risco de descargas de água (resíduos fecais e sólidos no leito inferior do rio), localizadas na periferia da cidade e em áreas de crescimento. Com base nos dados analisados na pesquisa, é determinado o grau de poluição da água, bem como a qualidade da água nos cursos d'água, obtendo-se os grupos e atores sociais mais afetados pela poluição e o grau de vulnerabilidade apresentado pelo risco de poluição, para uma possível reestruturação urbana., El objetivo del presente trabajo fue evaluar la calidad del agua superficial del río Huacapa en la población de Chichihualco estado de Guerrero, para analizar el riesgo de contaminación que corre la población adyacente al cauce del río. Mediante un análisis de sitio, se observaron los puntos con mayor contaminación del agua, se investigó información de la infraestructura y la traza urbana por medio del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI, 2020 ) con ello se elaboró una cartografía mediante el programa ArcGis, en la que se representó la red hidrográfica y la traza urbana, así como la red de saneamiento y sus distintas fases de construcción. Posteriormente se realizó un muestro de aguas superficiales y los resultados de los datos analíticos se trataron con el índice simplificado de calidad del agua (ISQA), debido a la simplicidad y seguridad en los resultados obtenidos con este método. Dichos resultados se representaron también cartográficamente (ArcGIS), obteniéndose la calidad del agua a lo largo del cauce, así como los puntos más vulnerables y las zonas mayormente contaminadas por aguas residuales y residuos sólidos en el área de estudio. Con esto se pudieron determinar las áreas de mayor riesgo por vertidos de aguas (fecales y residuos sólidos en el lecho inferior del cauce), ubicadas en la periferia de la población y zonas de crecimiento. Con base a los datos que se analizan en la investigación, se determina el grado de contaminación del agua, así como la calidad del agua que presenta los causes, obteniendo los grupos y actores sociales mayormente afectados por la contaminación y el grado de vulnerabilidad que presenta por el riesgo de contaminación, para una posible restructuración urbanística.

Here, the electric field generated by ionic liquid gating is used to manipulate the band structure, triggering a reversible control of the metal-insulator transition. SrIrO_3 is a correlated semimetal with narrow t_2g d-bands of strong mixed orbital character resulting from the interplay of the spin-orbit interaction due to heavy iridium atoms and the band folding induced by the lattice structure. In ultrathin layers, inversion symmetry breaking, occurring naturally due to the presence of the substrate, opens new orbital hopping channels, which in presence of spin-orbit interaction causes deep modifications in the electronic structure. Here, we show that in SrIrO_3 ultrathin films the effect of inversion symmetry breaking on the band structure can be externally manipulated in a field effect experiment. We further prove that the electric field toggles the system reversibly between a metallic and an insulating state with canted antiferromagnetism and an emergent anomalous Hall effect. This is achieved through the spin-orbit driven coupling of the electric field generated in an ionic liquid gate to the electronic structure, where the electric field controls the band structure rather than the usual band filling, thereby enabling electrical control of the effective role of electron correlations. The externally tunable antiferromagnetic insulator, rooted in the strong spin-orbit interaction of iridium, may inspire interesting applications in spintronics., Unión Europea. Abstract: El avance tecnológico hace que emerjan herramientas de vanguardia que logran enriquecer el entorno físico al incorporar elementos virtuales. En el ámbito educativo, esta inmersión tecnológica ofrece experiencias de aprendizaje que avalan una mayor optimización en la adquisición de conocimientos a través de una menor carga cognitiva. Estas tecnologías tienen la capacidad de crear y añadir información desarrollada en entornos virtuales, lo que les confiere un alto nivel de control y conocimiento del mundo real. En este contexto, surge el concepto de Realidad Extendida (RE), que abarcaría tanto la Realidad Aumentada (RA) como la Realidad Virtual (RV). La presente investigación se origina a raíz del proyecto El Metaverso: la Realidad Extendida (Virtual y Aumentada) en la educación superior: Diseño, Producción, Evaluación y Formación de programas de realidad extendida para la enseñanza universitaria (MEREVIA).. El objetivo principal es explorar la realidad educativa en relación con el uso de la RE y abordar las diversas circunstancias que pueden surgir al integrar estas tecnologías en la práctica educativa. Para ello, se aplicarán diversas estrategias de recopilación y análisis de datos, tanto cuantitativas como cualitativas. 44. Nativos e inmigrantes digitales en el contexto de la COVID-19: las contradicciones de una diversidad de mitos

Abstract: En el contexto de la COVID-19 han ocurrido diferentes cambios y tensiones en el Sistema Educativo producto de varios factores. La rápida y fuerte transición hacia una formación a distancia apoyada eminentemente en la tecnologia aflorando debilidades en el Sistema Educativo derivadas de la formación del profesorado, la falta de tecnología, carencia de recursos educativos para ser utilizados en la formación virtual a distancia y falta de credibilidad sobre la eficacia de dicha modalidad formativa. Este artículo pone de manifiesto la inexistencia de diferencias en el dominio tecnológico entre los denominados “nativos” e “inmigrantes” digitales, entre estudiantes y docentes. En general, es problemático asumir que los estudiantes son competentes digitales, mientras que los docentes no han desarrollado dicho dominio. Esta ha ocasionado consecuencias negativas que han llevado a las instituciones educativas a desatender la formación de los estudiantes en competencias digitales. No debe confundirse la mera exposición a la tecnología con tener una alta capacidad para utilizarla. Se concluye defendiendo el término estudiantes digitales, en lugar de nativos digitales. Por ello, se discute que la alfabetización digital no implica solo manejar las herramientas tecnológicas, sino también pensar y solucionar problemas en una sociedad digital., No contexto da COVID-19, ocorreram diferentes mudanças e tensões no sistema educativo como resultado de vários fatores. A rápida e forte transição para um sistema de ensino a distância baseado principalmente na tecnologia trouxe à superfície as deficiências do sistema educativo derivadas da formação de professores, a falta de tecnologia, a falta de recursos educativos a serem utilizados no ensino virtual a distância e a falta de credibilidade no que diz respeito à eficácia dessa modalidade de formação. Este artigo destaca a falta de diferenças no domínio tecnológico entre os chamados ”nativos” e ”imigrantes” digitais, entre estudantes e professores. Em geral, é problemático assumir que os estudantes são digitalmente competentes, enquanto os professores não desenvolveram tal proficiência. Isso ocasionou consequências negativas que levaram as instituições educativas a negligenciar a formação dos estudantes em competências digitais. A mera exposição à tecnologia não deve ser confundida com ter uma elevada capacidade de utilização. Conclui-se defendendo o termo aprendizes digitais, em vez de nativos digitais. Assim, argumenta-se que o letramento digital não se trata apenas de lidar com ferramentas tecnológicas, mas também de pensar e resolver problemas numa sociedade digital., In the context of COVID-19 different changes and tensions have occurred in the Education System as a result of several factors. The rapid and strong transition towards a distance learning system based mainly on technology has brought to the surface weaknesses in the Education System derived from teacher training, the lack of technology, the lack of educational resources to be used in virtual distance learning and the lack of credibility regarding the effectiveness of this training modality. This article highlights the lack of differences in technological proficiency between so-called digital ”natives” and ”immigrants”, between students and teachers. In general, it is problematic to assume that students are digitally competent, while teachers have not developed such proficiency. This has led to negative consequences that have led educational institutions to neglect the training of students in digital competences. Mere exposure to technology should not be confused with having a high capacity to use it. It concludes by defending the term digital learners, rather than digital natives. Abstract: Virtual Reality (VR) is an emerging technology with educational benefits demonstrated in numerous studies. Its integration into the curriculum implies the use of cognitive resources by students and the training of digital skills by teachers. The objective of this study is to determine the degree of acceptance of students with learning objects produced in VR and in 360 , as well as to analyze their evaluation and the established relationships. A sample of 136 medical students who completed questionnaires on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the quality of the training activity was used. The results show high levels of acceptance, both in VR and 360 objects. The students perceived the usefulness of the training activity as high, with significant correlations between the different dimensions. This study demonstrates the potential of VR as an educational technology and offers new perspectives for future research.

Abstract: Teachers’ digital skills is an essential factor in current teaching-learning processes, especially when it comes to the teaching of additional languages. To date, previous research on the digitalization processes the teach-ing profession has undergone has tended to focus on the contexts of early childhood, primary, secondary and higher education, but few studies have examined Official Language Schools. In the case of Andalusia (Spanish Southern region), these educational centres are participating in the so-called Educational Digital Transformation (TDE) process, a project promoted by the Ministry of Education. In this study, 104 teachers have completed the Spanish version of the DigCompEdu Check-In questionnaire. The main results show a moderate level of Digital Competence. In addition, the results also show a lack of statistically significant differences in terms of gender variable but, on the other hand highly significant differences in terms of age. In light of these findings, possible pathways for competency development are discussed., Las competencias digitales docentes son un aspecto esencial en los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje actuales, especialmente en lo que respecta a la enseñanza de lenguas extranjeras. Hasta la fecha, las investigacio-nes sobre los procesos de digitalización de la enseñanza han prestado su atención en contextos educativos propios de la enseñanza infantil, primaria, secundaria y la educación superior, pero no en las Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas, que en el caso de Andalucía están recogidas como centros que forman parte del proceso de Trasformación Digital Educativa (TDE) impulsado por la Consejería de Educación. En este sentido, se propone una investigación en la que participan 104 docentes que contestan el cuestionario DigCompEdu Check-In. Así pues, los resultados mues-tran niveles moderados de Competencia Digital. Además, se muestra la inexistencia de diferencias significativas respecto a la variable género y alta significancia en cuanto a la edad. With this, it is possible to determine the areas of greatest risk due to water discharges (fecal and solid waste in the lower bed of the channel), located on the periphery of the population and growth areas. Based on the data that are analyzed in the investigation, the degree or water that presents the causes, obtaining the groups and social actors most affected by the contamination and the degree of vulnerability that it presents due to the risk of contamination for a possible urban restructuring., O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a qualidade da água superficial do rio Huacapa na cidade de Chichihualco, no estado de Guerrero, a fim de analisar o risco de contaminação da população adjacente ao leito do rio. Por meio de uma análise do local, foram observados os pontos com maior poluição da água, foram pesquisadas informações sobre a infraestrutura e o traçado urbano por meio do Instituto Nacional de Estatística e Geografia (INEGI, 2020), com o qual foi elaborada uma cartografia utilizando o programa ArcGis, na qual foram representados a rede hidrográfica e o traçado urbano, bem como a rede de saneamento e suas diferentes fases de construção. Posteriormente, foi realizada a amostragem das águas superficiais e os resultados dos dados analíticos foram tratados com o índice simplificado de qualidade da água (ISQA), devido à simplicidade e à segurança dos resultados obtidos com esse método. Esses resultados também foram representados cartograficamente (ArcGIS), obtendo-se a qualidade da água ao longo do curso d'água, bem como os pontos mais vulneráveis e as áreas mais poluídas por águas residuais e resíduos sólidos na área de estudo. Isso possibilitou determinar as áreas de maior risco de descargas de água (resíduos fecais e sólidos no leito inferior do rio), localizadas na periferia da cidade e em áreas de crescimento. Com base nos dados analisados na pesquisa, é determinado o grau de poluição da água, bem como a qualidade da água nos cursos d'água, obtendo-se os grupos e atores sociais mais afetados pela poluição e o grau de vulnerabilidade apresentado pelo risco de poluição, para uma possível reestruturação urbana., El objetivo del presente trabajo fue evaluar la calidad del agua superficial del río Huacapa en la población de Chichihualco estado de Guerrero, para analizar el riesgo de contaminación que corre la población adyacente al cauce del río. Mediante un análisis de sitio, se observaron los puntos con mayor contaminación del agua, se investigó información de la infraestructura y la traza urbana por medio del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI, 2020 ) con ello se elaboró una cartografía mediante el programa ArcGis, en la que se representó la red hidrográfica y la traza urbana, así como la red de saneamiento y sus distintas fases de construcción. Posteriormente se realizó un muestro de aguas superficiales y los resultados de los datos analíticos se trataron con el índice simplificado de calidad del agua (ISQA), debido a la simplicidad y seguridad en los resultados obtenidos con este método. Dichos resultados se representaron también cartográficamente (ArcGIS), obteniéndose la calidad del agua a lo largo del cauce, así como los puntos más vulnerables y las zonas mayormente contaminadas por aguas residuales y residuos sólidos en el área de estudio. Con esto se pudieron determinar las áreas de mayor riesgo por vertidos de aguas (fecales y residuos sólidos en el lecho inferior del cauce), ubicadas en la periferia de la población y zonas de crecimiento. Con base a los datos que se analizan en la investigación, se determina el grado de contaminación del agua, así como la calidad del agua que presenta los causes, obteniendo los grupos y actores sociales mayormente afectados por la contaminación y el grado de vulnerabilidad que presenta por el riesgo de contaminación, para una posible restructuración urbanística.

Abstract: Migraine is a disabling disease that affects approximately 15% of the population, predominantly female, and is generated in a multifactorial manner and the genetic aspect is involved in some cases. Despite scientific advances in this field, the precise pathophysiological mechanism that completely explains It hasn't yet been defined, which is why various theories are understood. Its management ranges from general measures and symptomatic drugs to preventive treatment according to its level of recurrence. At the moment there have been advances with monoclonal antibodies which have achieved good results demonstrating greater efficacy and tolerability compared to oral preventives, which is why they can be a great alternative for future therapeutic targets., La migraña es una enfermedad incapacitante que afecta aproximadamente al 15% de la población predominando en el sexo femenino, siendo generada de forma multifactorial y viéndose involucrado el aspecto genético en algunos casos. A pesar de los avances científicos en este campo aún no se ha definido el mecanismo fisiopatológico preciso que la explique completamente por lo que se comprenden diversas teorías. Su manejo comprende desde medidas generales y fármacos sintomáticos, hasta tratamiento preventivo de acuerdo a su nivel de recurrencia. En el momento se han dado avances con anticuerpos monoclonales los cuales han conseguido buenos resultados demostrando mayor eficacia y tolerabilidad comparadas con los preventivos orales por lo que pueden suponer una gran alternativa para futuras dianas terapéuticas.

Abstract: Este estudio tiene como objetivo determinar la probabilidad de que las empresas del sector de alimentos y bebidas del Ecuador produzcan un bien nuevo con base a la inversión en investigación, desarrollo e innovación. Se utilizaron dos bases de datos, la primera proviene de la última encuesta sobre innovación aplicada por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos en Ecuador, y contiene información del periodo 2012-2014; la segunda fue construida a partir de la aplicación de una encuesta a las empresas del sector objeto de estudio en la provincia de Tungurahua en el año 2022, y contiene información del periodo 2018-2021. Se efectuó un análisis descriptivo de las variables de investigación, previo al desarrolló de un modelo Logit con el que se estableció que, en ambos escenarios de estudio la inversión en investigación y desarrollo es el factor principal que incrementa la probabilidad de que estas empresas innoven.
