Robot navigation technology has the advantages of minimally invasive and accurate. To explore the difference between the clinical effects of proximal femoral anti-rotation intramedullary nail (PFNA) assisted by robot navigation in the treatment of femoral intertrochanteric fracture and traditional PFNA in the treatment of femoral intertrochanteric fracture in the elderly; analyze the advantages and feasibility of PFNA assisted by robot navigation in the treatment of femoral intertrochanteric fracture in the elderly.Patients and Methods: From February 2021 to October 2022, the elderly (> 65 years old) with femoral intertrochanteric fracture underwent surgery in our center. Reservoir computing is a recurrent neural network that has been applied across various domains in machine learning. The implementation of reservoir computing, however, often demands heavy computations for activating the reservoir. Configuring physical reservoir networks and harnessing the nonlinearity from the underlying devices for activation is an emergent solution to address the computational challenge. Herein, we analyze the feasibility of employing the nonlinearity from solution-processed molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) devices for reservoir activation. The devices, fabricated using liquid-phase exfoliated MoS2, exhibit a high-order nonlinearity achieved by Stark modulation of the MoS2 material. We demonstrate that this nonlinearity can be fitted and employed as the activation function to facilitate reservoir computing implementation. Notably, owing to the high-order nonlinearity, the network exhibits long-term synchronization and robust generalization abilities for approximating complex dynamical systems. Given the remarkable reservoir activation capability, coupled with the scalability of the device fabrication, our findings open the possibility for the physical realization of lightweight, efficient reservoir computing for, for instance, signal classification, motion tracking, and pattern recognition of complex time series as well as secure cryptography. As an example, we show the network can be appointed to generate chaotic random numbers for secure data encryption.

Deep learning models have become a powerful tool in knee angle estimation for lower limb prostheses, owing to their adaptability across various gait phases and locomotion modes. Current methods utilize Multi-Layer Perceptrons (MLP), Long-Short Term Memory Networks (LSTM), and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), predominantly analyzing motion information from the thigh. Contrary to these approaches, our study introduces a holistic perspective by integrating whole-body movements as inputs. We propose a transformer-based probabilistic framework, termed the Angle Estimation Probabilistic Model (AEPM), that offers precise angle estimations across extensive scenarios beyond walking. AEPM achieves an overall RMSE of 6.70 degrees, with an RMSE of 3.45 degrees in walking scenarios. Compared to the state of the art, AEPM has improved the prediction accuracy for walking by 11.31%. Our method can achieve seamless adaptation between different locomotion modes. Also, this model can be utilized to analyze the synergy between the knee and other joints. We reveal that the whole body movement has valuable information for knee movement, which can provide insights into designing sensors for prostheses. True random numbers play a critical role in secure cryptography. The generation relies on a stable and readily extractable entropy source. Here, from solution-processed structurally metastable 1T' MoTe2, we prove stable output of featureless, stochastic, and yet stable conductance noise at a broad temperature (down to 15 K) with minimal power consumption (down to 0.05 micro-W). Our characterizations and statistical analysis of the characteristics of the conductance noise suggest that the noise arises from the volatility of the stochastic polarization of the underlying ferroelectric dipoles in the 1T' MoTe2. Further, as proved in our experiments and indicated by our Monte Carlo simulation, the ferroelectric dipole polarization is a reliable entropy source with the stochastic polarization persistent and stable over time. Exploiting the conductance noise, we achieve the generation of true random numbers and demonstrate their use in common cryptographic applications, for example, password generation and data encryption. Besides, particularly, we show a privacy safeguarding approach to sensitive data that can be critical for the cryptography of neural networks. We believe our work will bring insights into the understanding of the metastable 1T' MoTe2 and, more importantly, underpin its great potential in secure cryptography.

We derive the contact terms contributing to the four-point amplitudes of the standard-model particles, keeping terms with up to quartic energy growth. Imposing just the unbroken low-energy symmetry, and treating the electroweak gauge bosons and the Higgs as independent degrees of freedom, we obtain the most general four-point contact-term amplitudes, corresponding to the HEFT framework. The contact terms are spanned by a basis of Stripped Contact Terms (SCTs), which carry the polarization information, multiplied by polynomials in the Mandelstam invariants. For terms with quadratic energy growth, we also derive the low-energy SMEFT predictions, via on-shell Higgsing of the massless SMEFT contact terms. We discuss several aspects of bottom-up versus top-down on-shell derivations of the HEFT and SMEFT amplitudes, highlighting in particular the simple counting of HEFT dimensions in the on-shell approach and the transparent relation between perturbative unitarity and gauge-invariance in the little-group covariant massive spinor formalism. Our results provide a formulation of EFT analyses directly in terms of observable quantities. As a revolutionary technology for future wireless communications, reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS), characterized by an efficient way of manipulating wireless signals, has been widely investigated in recent years toward enhancing signal quality, energy efficiency, throughput, and so on. However, in RIS-assisted Internet of Things (IoT), a new issue as multipath separation emerges, especially, when deploying multiple RISs to assist communication, since the devices may have limited signal processing capabilities. For alleviating this problem, we conceive a novel RIS-enabled code-division multiple access (CDMA) structure, where each RIS holds a specified time-varying coefficient to tag the channel. Moreover, multipath extraction is further considered, including a practical channel estimation approach along with theoretical derivations in terms of Cramér-Rao lower bound, mean-square error, as well as ergodic channel capacity. Recently, communications with the aid of reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS), which operates with the aim of enhancing the system communication performance, have aroused extensive researches. Furthermore, the use of RIS for positioning has been considered. Therefore, we focus on a practical structure of indoor positioning assisted by distributed RISs through utilizing their ability to manipulate multipath signals, through the developed quasi-static and dynamic modes. Specifically, in the quasi-static mode, for reducing the implementation cost, the reflection coefficients for each RIS are preset and remain constant. In the dynamic mode, the reflection coefficients can be timely updated with a two-step positioning approach toward more accurate positioning performance. Furthermore, the Cramer-Rao lower bound of the developed positioning scheme is quantified through theoretical analysis. Both theoretical analysis and simulation results demonstrate that RIS has the potential to realize accurate positioning even with a single access point, due to its ability to mark the channel and replace traditional active positioning anchors. The Electron-Ion Collider~(EIC), a forthcoming powerful high-luminosity facility, represents an exciting opportunity to explore new physics. In this article, we study the potential of the EIC to probe the coupling between axion-like particles~(ALPs) and photons in coherent scattering. The ALPs can be produced via photon fusion and decay back to two photons inside the EIC detector. In a prompt-decay search, we find that the EIC can set the most stringent bound for $m_a \lesssim 20\,\GeV$ and probe the effective scales $\Lambda \lesssim 10^{5}\,$GeV. In a displaced-vertex search, which requires adopting an EM calorimeter technology that provides directionality, the EIC could probe ALPs with $m_a \lesssim 1\,\GeV$ at effective scales $\Lambda \lesssim 10^{7}\,\GeV$. DOACs compliance was investigated through telephone and outpatient follow-up, and ICDVT clinical outcomes were collected 30 and 90 days post-discharge, respectively. Variables of interest were collected through the electronic medical record system, and data were analyzed after adjusting for predictors of non-completely dissolved (CD) of ICDVT.Results: The DOACs compliance survey revealed that 375 (53.42%) patients were fully adherent, 270 (38.46%) were fairly adherent, and 57 (8.12%) were poorly adherent. Approximately 62% of patients had ICDVT dissipation within 30 days after discharge, reaching 94% within 90 days. Therapeutic strategies to inhibit the progression of AAAs are currently lacking. Recently, the therapeutic effect of metformin on aneurysms has attracted considerable interest. However, the unfavorable pharmacokinetic properties of metformin limit its feasibility for AAA treatment.Methods and Results: We constructed a metformin-loaded netrin-1-responsive AAA-targeted nanoparticle (Tgt-NP-Met) for AAA management. Evaluation of the therapeutic effect of Tgt-NP-Met was performed by in vitro and in vivo experiments. Our results showed that the binding of netrin-1 monoclonal antibodies enhanced the AAA-targeting capability of nanoparticles (NPs). Moreover, Tgt-NP-Met administration prevented AAA development and reduced the aneurysm diameter in apolipoprotein E (ApoE)-deficient (ApoE−/−) mice that received continuous infusion of angiotensin II. Furthermore, metformin prevented AAA progression by inhibiting the transformation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) from a contractile phenotype to a synthetic phenotype, which is mediated by macrophage infiltration and activation.Conclusion: Our findings identify

Impedance-based control represents a prevalent strategy in the development of powered transfemoral prostheses. However, creating a task-adaptive, tuning-free controller that effectively generalizes across diverse locomotion modes and terrain conditions continues to be a significant challenge. This letter proposes a tuning-free and task-adaptive quasi-stiffness control framework for powered prostheses that generalizes across various walking tasks, including the torque-angle relationship reconstruction part and the quasi-stiffness controller design part. A Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) model is introduced to predict the target features of the human joint angle and torque in a new task. Subsequently, a Kernelized Movement Primitives (KMP) is employed to reconstruct the torque-angle relationship of the new task from multiple human reference trajectories and estimated target features. Based on the torque-angle relationship of the new task, a quasi-stiffness control approach is designed for a powered prosthesis. Finally, the proposed framework is validated through practical examples, including varying speeds and inclines walking tasks. Notably, the proposed framework not only aligns with but frequently surpasses the performance of a benchmark finite state machine impedance controller (FSMIC) without necessitating manual impedance tuning and has the potential to expand to variable walking tasks in daily life for the transfemoral amputees., Comment: 8 pages, 10 figures. Co-movement pattern mining from GPS trajectories has been an intriguing subject in spatial-temporal data mining. In this paper, we extend this research line by migrating the data source from GPS sensors to surveillance cameras, and presenting the first investigation into co-movement pattern mining from videos. We formulate the new problem, re-define the spatial-temporal proximity constraints from cameras deployed in a road network, and theoretically prove its hardness. Due to the lack of readily applicable solutions, we adapt existing techniques and propose two competitive baselines using Apriori-based enumerator and CMC algorithm, respectively. As the principal technical contributions, we introduce a novel index called temporal-cluster suffix tree (TCS-tree), which performs two-level temporal clustering within each camera and constructs a suffix tree from the resulting clusters. Moreover, we present a sequence-ahead pruning framework based on TCS-tree, which allows for the simultaneous leverage of all pattern constraints to filter candidate paths. Finally, to reduce verification cost on the candidate paths, we propose a sliding-window based co-movement pattern enumeration strategy and a hashing-based dominance eliminator, both of which are effective in avoiding redundant operations. We conduct extensive experiments for scalability and effectiveness analysis. Our results validate the efficiency of the proposed index and mining algorithm, which runs remarkably faster than the two baseline methods. Additionally, we construct a video database with 1169 cameras and perform an end-to-end pipeline analysis to study the performance gap between GPS-driven and video-driven methods. Our results demonstrate that the derived patterns from the video-driven approach are similar to those derived from groundtruth trajectories, providing evidence of its effectiveness.

The W Mass determination at the Tevatron CDF experiment reported a deviation from the SM expectation at 7$\sigma$ level. We discuss a few possible interpretations and their collider implications. We perform electroweak global fits under various frameworks and assumptions. We consider three types of electroweak global fits in the effective-field-theory framework: the $S$-$T$, the $S$-$T$-$\delta G_F$, and the eight-parameter flavor-universal one. We discuss the amounts of tensions between different $m_W$ measurements reflected in these fits and the corresponding shifts in central values of these parameters. With these electroweak fit pictures in hand, we present a few different classes of models and discuss their compatibility with these results. We find that while explaining the $m_W$ discrepancy, the single gauge boson extensions face strong LHC direct search constraints unless the $Z'$ is fermiophobic (leptophobic) which can be realized if extra vector fermions (leptons) mix with the SM fermions (leptons). Vector-like top partners can partially generate the needed shift to the electroweak observables. The compatibility with top squark is also studied in detail. We find non-degenerate top squark soft masses enhance the needed operator coefficients, enabling an allowed explanation compatible with current LHC measurements. We fully solve the long-standing problem of operator basis construction for fields with any masses and spins. Based on the on-shell method, we propose a novel method to systematically construct a complete set of lowest dimensional amplitude bases at any given dimension through semi-standard Young tableaus of Lorentz subgroup $SU(2)_r$ and global symmetry $U(N)$ ($N$ is the number of external legs), which can be directly mapped into physical operator bases. We first construct a complete set of monomial bases whose dimension is not the lowest and a redundant set of bases that always contains a complete set of amplitude bases with the lowest dimension. Then we decompose the bases of the redundant set into the monomial bases from low to high dimension and eliminate the linear correlation bases. Finally, the bases with the lowest dimension can be picked up. We also propose a matrix projection method to construct the massive amplitude bases involving identical particles. The operator bases of a generic massive effective field theory can be efficiently constructed by the computer programs. We explicitly construct the most generic effective field theory (EFT) of standard model (SM) mass eigenstates invariant under $U(1)_{\text{em}}\times SU(3)_c$ by the Mathematica program, based on the theory proposed in [1,2]. This EFT can be treated as the new formulation of Higgs EFT (HEFT). It can describe the infrared effects of new physics in the most concise way at the electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) phase, and the physical meaning of its bases is more transparent. So this new HEFT can be more conveniently applied in phenomenology studies. All the three-point HEFT operator bases and the four-point bases up to operator canonical dimension-$8$ are listed. This program can also construct the EFT of any kind of dark matter or particles with any spin.

Environment perception is crucial to autonomous driving. Panoptic segmentation and objects tracking are two challenging tasks, and the combination of both, namely 4D panoptic segmentation draws researchers’ attention recently. In this work, we implement 4D panoptic LiDAR segmentation (4D-PLS) on Volvo datasets and provide a pipeline of data preparation, model building and model optimization. The main contributions of this work include: (1) building the Volvo datasets; (2) adopting an 4D-PLS model improved by Hyperparameter Optimization (HPO). We annotate point cloud data collected from Volvo CE, and take a supervised learning approach by employing a Deep Neural Network (DNN) to extract features from point cloud data. On the basis of the 4D-PLS model, we employ Bayesian Optimization to find the best hyperparameters for our data, and improve the model performance within a small training budget., Miljöuppfattning är avgörande för autonom körning. We present the explicit construction of the effective field theory (EFT) of standard model mass eigenstates. The EFT, which is invariant under $U(1)_{\text{e.m.}}\times SU(3)_c$, is constructed based on the on-shell method and Young Tableau technique. This EFT serves as a new formulation of the Higgs EFT (HEFT), which can describe the infrared effects of new physics at the electroweak symmetry-breaking phase with greater conciseness. The current HEFT operator basis has a clear physical interpretation, making it more accessible for research in phenomenology. A complete list of HEFT operator bases for any-point vertices up to any dimension could be provided, and three- and four-point bases are provided as examples. Additionally, this framework realized as a Mathematica program can be used to construct the EFT of any type of dark matter or particles with any spin.

Poles and building edges are frequently observable objects on urban roads, conveying reliable hints for various computer vision tasks. To repetitively extract them as features and perform association between discrete LiDAR frames for registration, we propose the first learning-based feature segmentation and description model for 3D lines in LiDAR point cloud. To train our model without the time consuming and tedious data labeling process, we first generate synthetic primitives for the basic appearance of target lines, and build an iterative line auto-labeling process to gradually refine line labels on real LiDAR scans. Our segmentation model can extract lines under arbitrary scale perturbations, and we use shared EdgeConv encoder layers to train the two segmentation and descriptor heads jointly. Base on the model, we can build a highly-available global registration module for point cloud registration, in conditions without initial transformation hints. Experiments have demonstrated that our line-based registration method is highly competitive to state-of-the-art point-based approaches. Gait phase-based control is a trending research topic for walking-aid robots, especially robotic lower-limb prostheses. Gait phase estimation is a challenge for gait phase-based control. Previous researches used the integration or the differential of the human's thigh angle to estimate the gait phase, but accumulative measurement errors and noises can affect the estimation results. In this paper, a more robust gait phase estimation method is proposed using a unified form of piecewise monotonic gait phase-thigh angle models for various locomotion modes. The gait phase is estimated from only the thigh angle, which is a stable variable and avoids phase drifting. A Kalman filter-based smoother is designed to further suppress the mutations of the estimated gait phase. Based on the proposed gait phase estimation method, a gait phase-based joint angle tracking controller is designed for a transfemoral prosthesis. The proposed gait estimation method, the gait phase smoother, and the controller are evaluated through offline analysis on walking data in various locomotion modes. And the real-time performance of the gait phase-based controller is validated in an experiment on the transfemoral prosthesis.

Environment perception is crucial to autonomous driving. Panoptic segmentation and objects tracking are two challenging tasks, and the combination of both, namely 4D panoptic segmentation draws researchers’ attention recently. In this work, we implement 4D panoptic LiDAR segmentation (4D-PLS) on Volvo datasets and provide a pipeline of data preparation, model building and model optimization. The main contributions of this work include: (1) building the Volvo datasets; (2) adopting an 4D-PLS model improved by Hyperparameter Optimization (HPO). We annotate point cloud data collected from Volvo CE, and take a supervised learning approach by employing a Deep Neural Network (DNN) to extract features from point cloud data. On the basis of the 4D-PLS model, we employ Bayesian Optimization to find the best hyperparameters for our data, and improve the model performance within a small training budget., Miljöuppfattning är avgörande för autonom körning. A search for quark compositeness using dijet angular distributions from pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV is presented. The search has been carried out using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.2 fb -1, recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. Normalized dijet angular distributions have been measured for dijet invariant masses from 0.4 TeV to above 3TeV and compared with a variety of contact interaction models, including those which take into account the effects of next-to-leading-order QCD corrections. The data are found to be in agreement with the predictions of perturbative QCD, and lower limits are obtained on the contact interaction scale, ranging from 7.5 up to 14.5 TeV at 95% confidence level. © CERN.

In this work, we propose an interoceptive-only state estimation system for a quadrotor with deep neural network processing, where the quadrotor dynamics is considered as a perceptive supplement of the inertial kinematics. To improve the precision of multi-sensor fusion, we train cascaded networks on real-world quadrotor flight data to learn IMU kinematic properties, quadrotor dynamic characteristics, and motion states of the quadrotor along with their uncertainty information, respectively. This encoded information empowers us to address the issues of IMU bias stability, quadrotor dynamics, and multi-sensor calibration during sensor fusion. The above multi-source information is fused into a two-stage Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) framework for better estimation. © 2014 The Authors. A search is performed in proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV for exotic particles decaying via WZ to fully leptonic final states with electrons, muons, and neutrinos. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb -1 . No significant excess is observed above the expected standard model background. Upper bounds at 95% confidence level are set on the production cross section of a W ' boson as predicted by an extended gauge model, and on the W ' WZ coupling. The expected and observed mass limits for a W ' boson, as predicted by this model, are 1.55 and 1.47 TeV, respectively. Stringent limits are also set in the context of low-scale technicolor models under a range of assumptions for the model parameters.

The t (t) over bar production cross section and top quark mass are measured in proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1) collected by the CMS experiment. The measurements are performed in events with two leptons (electrons or muons) in the final state. Results of the cross section measurement in events with and without b-quark identification are obtained and combined. The measured value is sigma(tt) - 168 +/- 18 (stat:) +/- 14 (syst:) +/- 7 (lumi:) pb, consistent with predictions from the standard model. The top quark mass m(top) is reconstructed with two different methods, a full kinematic analysis and a matrix weighting technique. Jet fragmentation in pp and PbPb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 2.76TeV per nucleon pair was studied using data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. Fragmentation functions are constructed using charged-particle tracks with transverse momenta pT > 4 GeV/c for dijet events with a leading jet of pT > 100 GeV/c. The fragmentation functions in PbPb events are compared to those in pp data as a function of collision centrality, as well as dijet-pT imbalance. Special emphasis is placed on the most central PbPb events including dijets with unbalanced momentum, indicative of energy loss of the hard scattered parent partons. The fragmentation patterns for both the leading and subleading jets in PbPb collisions agree with those seen in pp data at 2.76TeV. The results provide evidence that, despite the large parton energy loss observed in PbPb collisions, the partition of the remaining momentum within the jet cone into high-pT particles is not strongly modified in comparison to that observed for jets in vacuum.

We assessed the effectiveness of optimized blood management programs in older patients undergoing delayed surgery for intertrochanteric fractures.Methods: This retrospective study included 456 patients who underwent delayed surgery for intertrochanteric fractures. According to the optimized blood management plan, the patients were divided into four groups: group A was the control group; group B received 1 g of tranexamic acid (TXA) intravenously at admission; group C underwent sequential TXA treatment after admission until 1 day before surgery (1 g/day); and group D received iron supplements (200 mg/day) in addition to the treatment administered to group C, with or without recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO; 40,000 IU). The primary outcomes were preoperative hidden blood loss (HBL), preoperative allogeneic blood transfusion (ABT) rate, hemoglobin (Hb) change, and actual Hb drop.Results: The Hb reduction, calculated HBL, and hospitalization duration in groups C and D were significantly lower than those in groups A and B. The preoperative ABT rates in groups C and D were significantly lower than those in groups A and B, with no significant difference between groups C and D

A search for supersymmetry is presented using a sample of events with b jets and missing transverse momentum. The search uses a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb..1, collected with the CMS detector. A total of 0:33 +0.43-0.33 (stat:) ±0:13 (syst:) events is predicted, using control samples in the data, to arise from standard model processes, and one event is observed in the data. Upper limits are set at the 95% confidence level on the cross sections of benchmark supersymmetric models. © SISSA 2011.

Commissioning studies of the CMS hadron calorimeter have identified sporadic uncharacteristic noise and a small number of malfunctioning calorimeter channels. Algorithms have been developed to identify and address these problems in the data. The methods have been tested on cosmic ray muon data, calorimeter noise data, and single beam data collected with CMS in 2008. The noise rejection algorithms can be applied to LHC collision data at the trigger level or in the offline analysis. The application of the algorithms at the trigger level is shown to remove 90% of noise events with fake missing transverse energy above 100 GeV, which is sufficient for the CMS physics trigger operation. © 2010 IOP Publishing Ltd and SISSA.

An inclusive search for same-sign top-quark pair production in pp collisions at √s = 7TeV is performed using a data sample recorded with the CMS detector in 2010, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb -1. This analysis is motivated by recent studies of pp → tt reporting mass-dependent forward-backward asymmetries larger than expected from the standard model. These asymmetries could be due to Flavor Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) in the top sector induced by t-channel exchange of a massive neutral vector boson (Z'). Models with such a Z' also predict enhancement of same-sign top-pair production in pp or pp collisions. Limits are set as a function of the Z' mass and its couplings to u and t quarks. These limits disfavour the FCNC interpretation of the Tevatron results. © SISSA 2011.

A search is performed for an excess of events, over the standard model expectations, with a photon, a lepton, and large missing transverse energy in pp collisions at s√ = 7TeV. Such events are expected in many new physics models, in particular a supersymmetric theory that is broken via a gauge-mediated mechanism, when the lightest charged and neutral gauginos are mass degenerate. The data sample used in this search corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb-1 collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. No evidence of such an excess above the standard model backgrounds, dominated by W production, is found. The results are presented as 95% con dence level upper limits on the cross section for a benchmark gauge-mediated scenario, and are then converted into exclusion limits on the squark, gluino, and wino masses. © SISSA 2011.

We propose a novel way to search for feebly interacting massive particles, exploiting two properties of systems involving collisions between high energy electrons and intense laser pulses. The first property is that the electron-intense-laser collision results in a large flux of hard photons, as the laser behaves effectively as a thick medium. The second property is that the emitted photons free-stream inside the laser and thus for them the laser behaves effectively as a very thin medium. Combining these two features implies that the electron-intense-laser collision is an apparatus which can efficiently convert UV electrons to a large flux of hard, co-linear photons. We further propose to direct this unique large and hard flux of photons onto a physical dump which in turn is capable of producing feebly interacting massive particles, in a region of parameters that has never been probed before. We denote this novel apparatus as ``optical dump'' or NPOD (new physics search with optical dump). The proposed LUXE experiment at Eu.XFEL has all the required basic ingredients of the above experimental concept. We discuss how this concept can be realized in practice by adding a detector after the last physical dump of the experiment to reconstruct the two-photon decay product of a new spin-0 particle. We show that even with a relatively short dump, the search can still be background free. The aim of the proposed CERN Gamma Factory is to produce $\sim 10^{17}$ photons per second with energies up to 400 MeV. The photon beam intensity is expected to be a factor of $\mathcal{O}(10^7)$ larger than that of the presently available photon beams in the MeV energy range. In this work, we explore its potential to probe physics beyond the Standard Model. In particular, we discuss searches for axion like particles (ALPs) with dominant couplings to photons and consider various production scenarios - fixed target, photon-photon collision, and conversion by a magnetic field and detection schemes - via decay to photons or back-conversion. We find that the Gamma Factory in a fixed target mode can probe ALPs with mass $m_a \lesssim \mathcal{O}(100\,\mathrm{MeV})$ and decay constants larger than $10^7$ GeV, improving by an order of magnitude the discovery potential of previous beam dump experiments., Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures

This Conceptual Design Report describes LUXE (Laser Und XFEL Experiment), an experimental campaign that aims to combine the high-quality and high-energy electron beam of the European XFEL with a powerful laser to explore the uncharted terrain of quantum electrodynamics characterised by both high energy and high intensity. We will reach this hitherto inaccessible regime of quantum physics by analysing high-energy electron-photon and photon-photon interactions in the extreme environment provided by an intense laser focus. The physics background and its relevance are presented in the science case which in turn leads to, and justifies, the ensuing plan for all aspects of the experiment: Our choice of experimental parameters allows (i) effective field strengths to be probed at and beyond the Schwinger limit and (ii) a precision to be achieved that permits a detailed comparison of the measured data with calculations. In addition, the high photon flux predicted will enable a sensitive search for new physics beyond the Standard Model. The initial phase of the experiment will employ an existing 40 TW laser, whereas the second phase will utilise an upgraded laser power of 350 TW. All expectations regarding the performance of the experimental set-up as well as the expected physics results are based on detailed numerical simulations throughout.

We first propose a general method to construct the complete set of on-shell operator bases involving massive particles with any spins. To incorporate the non-abelian little groups of massive particles, the on-shell scattering amplitude basis should be factorized into two parts: one is charged, and the other one is neutral under little groups of massive particles. The complete set of these two parts can be systematically constructed by choosing some specific Young diagrams of Lorentz subgroup and global symmetry $U(N)$ respectively ($N$ is the number of external particles), without the equation of motion and integration by part redundancy. Thus the complete massive amplitude bases without any redundancies can be obtained by combining these two complete sets. Some examples are presented to explicitly demonstrate this method. This method is applicable for constructing amplitude bases involving identical particles, and all the bases can be constructed automatically by computer programs based on it., Comment: 12 pages

The aim of the study was to identify gene expression profiles and potential hub genes in NERD.Patients and Methods: We performed RNA sequencing on biopsy samples from nine consecutive patients with NERD and six healthy controls. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were analysed with the DESeq2 R package. A DEG-based protein–protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed to filter hub genes using Cytoscape. Weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) was conducted to identify the coexpression relationships of all modules and explore the relationship between gene sets and clinical traits.Results: In total, 1195 DEGs were identified, including 649 upregulated and 546 downregulated genes involved in regulating the inflammatory response and epithelial cell differentiation. Overlap of the PPI and WGCNA networks identified five shared genes, namely, THY1, BMP2, LOX, KDR and MMP9, as candidate hub genes in NERD. Quantitative PCR analysis of the expression of these five genes confirmed the sequencing results. Receiver operating characteristic analyses indicated that these hub genes had diagnostic potential for NERD patients. Gene set enrichment analysis confirmed that each hub gene was closely associated with the pathophysiological processes of NERD. The CMS experiment uses self-triggering arrays of drift tubes in the barrel muon trigger to perform the identification of the correct bunch crossing. The identification is unique only if the trigger chain is correctly synchronized. In this paper, the synchronization performed during an extended cosmic ray run is described and the results are reported. The random arrival time of cosmic ray muons allowed several synchronization aspects to be studied and a simple method for the fine synchronization of the Drift Tube Local Trigger at LHC to be developed.

According to the included and excluded criteria, the patients were included in this retrospective study. After collecting the electrocardiogram baseline, the patients were divided into the NS-STT group and the non-NS-STT group. After comparing the demographic and clinical characteristics, multivariate logistic regression models were used to identify the role of NS-STT changes on perioperative DVT. All analyses were performed with R and EmpowerStats software.Results: Nine hundred and sixty-eight patients were included in the study. Ninety-seven patients (10.02%) had NS-STT changes on the electrocardiogram at admission. A total of 303 patients (31.30%) developed perioperative DVT in lower extremities. The univariate analysis showed that NS-STT segment changes were correlated with perioperative DVT significantly (OR = 3.45, 95% CI: 2.25– 5.30, P < 0.0001). Recently, the community has witnessed numerous datasets built for developing and testing state estimators. However, for some applications such as aerial transportation or search-and-rescue, the contact force or other disturbance must be perceived for robust planning and control, which is beyond the capacity of these datasets. This paper introduces a Visual-Inertial-Dynamical (VID) dataset, not only focusing on traditional six degrees of freedom (6-DOF) pose estimation but also providing dynamical characteristics of the flight platform for external force perception or dynamics-aided estimation. The VID dataset contains hardware synchronized imagery and inertial measurements, with accurate ground truth trajectories for evaluating common visual-inertial estimators. Moreover, the proposed dataset highlights rotor speed and motor current measurements, control inputs, and ground truth 6-axis force data to evaluate external force estimation. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed VID dataset is the first public dataset containing visual-inertial and complete dynamical information in the real world for pose and external force evaluation. The aim of the proposed CERN Gamma Factory is to produce $\sim 10^{17}$ photons per second with energies up to 400 MeV. The photon beam intensity is expected to be a factor of $\mathcal{O}(10^7)$ larger than that of the presently available photon beams in the MeV energy range. In this work, we explore its potential to probe physics beyond the Standard Model. In particular, we discuss searches for axion like particles (ALPs) with dominant couplings to photons and consider various production scenarios - fixed target, photon-photon collision, and conversion by a magnetic field and detection schemes - via decay to photons or back-conversion. We find that the Gamma Factory in a fixed target mode can probe ALPs with mass $m_a \lesssim \mathcal{O}(100\,\mathrm{MeV})$ and decay constants larger than $10^7$ GeV, improving by an order of magnitude the discovery potential of previous beam dump experiments., Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures

This Conceptual Design Report describes LUXE (Laser Und XFEL Experiment), an experimental campaign that aims to combine the high-quality and high-energy electron beam of the European XFEL with a powerful laser to explore the uncharted terrain of quantum electrodynamics characterised by both high energy and high intensity. We will reach this hitherto inaccessible regime of quantum physics by analysing high-energy electron-photon and photon-photon interactions in the extreme environment provided by an intense laser focus. The physics background and its relevance are presented in the science case which in turn leads to, and justifies, the ensuing plan for all aspects of the experiment: Our choice of experimental parameters allows (i) effective field strengths to be probed at and beyond the Schwinger limit and (ii) a precision to be achieved that permits a detailed comparison of the measured data with calculations. In addition, the high photon flux predicted will enable a sensitive search for new physics beyond the Standard Model. The initial phase of the experiment will employ an existing 40 TW laser, whereas the second phase will utilise an upgraded laser power of 350 TW. All expectations regarding the performance of the experimental set-up as well as the expected physics results are based on detailed numerical simulations throughout.
