- Abstract
During the COVID-19 pandemic, as a nation, India has shown the entire world its resilience and capability to deal with extreme adversities. The vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan can become a reality by promoting and focusing on local manufacturing i.e. 'Made in India' and being 'vocal' about 'local”. The focus lies on creation of world-class products, promoting investments and value pricing. Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan or Self-reliant India campaign is the vision of new India envisaged by the Hon'ble Prime Minister, with the Special economic and comprehensive package of INR 20 lakh crores - equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP – to fight COVID-19 pandemic in India. The aim is to make the country and its citizens independent and selfreliant in all senses, viz., five pillars of Atma Nirbhar Bharat – Economy, Infrastructure, System, Vibrant Demography and Demand. Atmanirbhar Bharat provides financial support to several firms, encouraging entrepreneurs to produce goods and services within the country. This will help the country to focus on the tagline of ‘vocal for local,' the promotion of local brands, manufacturing, and supply chains that will provide a significant boost to India's economy. This will ultimately help India to become Atmanirbhar Bharat in every aspect. However, the readiness of current and future entrepreneurs is not well defined and planned at the moment due to lack of knowledge, readiness, planning, coordination and collaboration between different stakeholders, and guidance on this transformation process resulting in skill gaps, mismatches and resource losses. The skills requested by industry are not merely technical. Future professionals are mandatorily expected to be creative, innovative and entrepreneurial, and capable of building relationships, advancing research and strengthening their organisations.
