Objective: This study aimed to compare the effects of ERAS and conventional programs on short-term outcomes after LDG. Summary of Background Data: Currently, the ERAS program is broadly applied in surgical areas. Although several benefits of LDG with the ERAS program have been covered, high-level evidence is still limited, specifically in advanced gastric cancer. Methods: The present study was designed as a randomized, multicenter, unblinded trial. The enrollment criteria included histologically confirmed cT2-4aN0-3M0 gastric adenocarcinoma. Postoperative complications, mortality, readmission, medical costs, recovery, and laboratory outcomes were compared between the ERAS and conventional groups. Results: Between April 2019 and May 2020, 400 consecutive patients who met the enrollment criteria were enrolled. They were randomly allocated to either the ERAS group (n = 200) or the conventional group (n = 200). After excluding patients who did not undergo surgery or gastrectomy, 370 patients were analyzed. The patient demographic characteristics were not different between the 2 groups. The conventional group had a significantly longer allowed day of discharge and postoperative hospital stay (6.96 vs 5.83 days, P < 0.001; 8.85 vs 7.27 days, P < 0.001); a longer time to first flatus, liquid intake and ambulation (3.37 vs 2.52 days, P < 0.001; 3.09 vs 1.13 days, P < 0.001; 2.85 vs 1.38 days, P < 0.001, respectively); and higher medical costs (6826 vs 6328 $, P = 0.027) than the ERAS group. Additionally, patients in the ERAS group were more likely to initiate adjuvant chemotherapy earlier (29 vs 32 days, P = 0.035). There was no significant difference in postoperative complications or in the mortality or readmission rates. Along with a specific size (1-100 nm), nanoparticles are characterized by high specific surface area and surface energy. Due to these advantages, nanoparticles have drawn attention and shown potential in various fields, such as catalysis, optics and medicine. However, “naked” nanoparticles suffer from significant shortfall, in particular its limited stability. In addition, commonly used nanoparticles are in the form of powder and will raise health and environmental concerns. Core-shell-nanoparticle (CSN) could help to overcome the limited stability of naked nanoparticles by mitigating particle agglomeration, while assembly of nanoparticles into macroscopic structures, either via self-assembly or guided assembly, could address the health and environmental concerns. Our work investigated the guided self-assembly of hollow Ni@SiO2 CSNs into macroscopic monoliths with dimensions in the centimeter range. By chemically cross-linking these nanoparticles and carefully controlling the cross-linking reaction, we were able to synthesize, for the first time, structurally stable, self-supporting monolithic structures composed solely of CSNs. Critical synthesis parameters, including temperature, pH, and reactant concentrations were identified and will be discussed in my presentation.

LncRNA RGMB-AS1 (RGMB antisense RNA 1) has been reported to participate in initiation and progression of several cancers, such as lung cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Nevertheless, whether RGMB-AS1 regulates glioma development is not investigated. In this study, we aimed to determine its roles in glioma.Methods: qRT-PCR and Western blotting were used to measure gene expression. CCK8 and colony formation assays were utilized to analyze proliferation. Transwell assay was used to determine cell migration and invasion. Luciferase reporter assay was used to validate the interactions among RGMB-AS1, miR-1200 and HOXB2.Results: RGMB-AS1 was upregulated in glioma tissues and associated with glioma grade and patients’ prognosis. Moreover, RGMB-AS1 silencing significantly inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of glioma cells. RGMB-AS1 downregulation led to more tumor cells arrested in the quiescent state. Mechanistically, we found that RGMB-AS1 was a molecular sponge for miR-1200. MiR-1200 level was inhibited by RGMB-AS1. And RGMB-AS1 promoted HOXB2 expression via sponging miR-1200. Numerous linear and non-linear data-detection and precoding algorithms for wideband massive multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless systems that rely on orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) or single-carrier frequency-division multiple access (SC-FDMA) require the computation of the Gram matrix for each active subcarrier. Computing the Gram matrix for each active subcarrier, however, results in excessively high computational complexity. In this paper, we propose novel, approximate algorithms that significantly reduce the complexity of Gram-matrix computation by simultaneously exploiting correlation across subcarriers and channel hardening. We show analytically that a small fraction of Gram-matrix computations in combination with approximate interpolation schemes are sufficient to achieve near-optimal error-rate performance at low computational complexity in massive MU-MIMO systems. We also demonstrate that the proposed methods exhibit improved robustness against channel-estimation errors compared to exact Gram-matrix interpolation algorithms that typically require high computational complexity.

We present a new method for using measured X-ray emission line fluxes from O stars to determine the shock-heating rate due to instabilities in their radiation-driven winds. The high densities of these winds means that their embedded shocks quickly cool by local radiative emission, while cooling by expansion should be negligible. Ignoring for simplicity any non-radiative mixing or conductive cooling, the method presented here exploits the idea that the cooling post-shock plasma systematically passes through the temperature characteristic of distinct emission lines in the X-ray spectrum. In this way, the observed flux distribution among these X-ray lines can be used to construct the cumulative probability distribution of shock strengths that a typical wind parcel encounters as it advects through the wind. We apply this new method (Gayley 2014) to Chandra grating spectra from five O stars with X-ray emission indicative of embedded wind shocks in effectively single massive stars. Correcting for wind absorption of the X-ray line emission is a crucial component of our analysis, and we use wind optical depth values derived from X-ray line-profile fitting (Cohen et al. 2014) in order to make that correction. The shock-heating rate results we derive for all the stars are quite similar: the average wind mass element passes through roughly one shock that heats it to at least $10^6$ K as it advects through the wind, and the cumulative distribution of shock strengths is a strongly decreasing function of temperature, consistent with a negative power-law of index $n \approx 3$, implying a marginal distribution of shock strengths that scales as $T^{-4}$, and with hints of an even steeper decline or cut-off above $10^7$ K., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures (5 color); MNRAS in press
