AbstractHLA and disease studies by using single allele statistics have been fruitless during the last 40 years for explaining association pathogenesis of the associated diseases.Other approaches are necessary to untangle this puzzle. We aim to revisit complement alleleism in humans and primates for both studying MHC and disease association to complotypes and extended MHC haplotypes in order to also explain the positive directional selection of maintaining immune response genes (complement, MHC adaptive and MHC non-specific genes) that keeps these three type of genes together in a short chromosome stretch (MHC) for million years. These genes may be linked to conjointly avoid microbes attack and autoimmunity. In the present paper, it is obtained a new Bf chimpanzee allele, provisionaly named Patr-Bf*A:01,that differs from other Bf alleles by having CTG at eleventh codon of exon 2 in order to start the newly suggested methodology and explain functional and evolutionary MHC obscure aspects. Exons 1 to 6 of Ba fragment of Bf gene were obtained from chimpanzee. This new chimpanzee Factor B allele (Patr-Bf*A:01) is to be identical to a infrequent human Bf allele (SNP rs641153); it stresses the strong evolutive pressure upon certain alleles that are trans specific. It also may apply to MHC extended haplotipes which may conjointly act to start an adequate immune response. It is the first time that a complement MHC class III allele is described to undergo trans species evolution,in contrast to class I and class II alleles which had already been reported . Researchers in natural science need reliable methods for quantifying animal behavior. Recently, numerous computer vision methods emerged to automate the process. However, observing wild species at remote locations remains a challenging task due to difficult lighting conditions and constraints on power supply and data storage. Event cameras offer unique advantages for battery-dependent remote monitoring due to their low power consumption and high dynamic range capabilities. We use this novel sensor to quantify a behavior in Chinstrap penguins called ecstatic display. We formulate the problem as a temporal action detection task, determining the start and end times of the behavior. For this purpose, we recorded a colony of breeding penguins in Antarctica for several weeks and labeled event data on 16 nests. The developed method consists of a generator of candidate time intervals (proposals) and a classifier of the actions within them. The experiments show that the event cameras' natural response to motion is effective for continuous behavior monitoring and detection, reaching a mean average precision (mAP) of 58% (which increases to 63% in good weather conditions). The results also demonstrate the robustness against various lighting conditions contained in the challenging dataset. The low-power capabilities of the event camera allow it to record significantly longer than with a conventional camera. Recent years have witnessed an upsurge in the usage of ballistocardiography (BCG) and seismocardiography (SCG) to record myocardial function both in normal and pathological populations. Kinocardiography (KCG) combines these techniques by measuring 12 degrees-of-freedom of body motion produced by myocardial contraction and blood flow through the cardiac chambers and major vessels. The integral of kinetic energy (iK) obtained from the linear and rotational SCG/BCG signals, and automatically computed over the cardiac cycle, is used as a marker of cardiac mechanical function. The present work systematically evaluated the test–retest (TRT) reliability of KCG iK derived from BCG/SCG signals in the short term (<15 min) and long term (3–6 h) on 60 healthy volunteers. Additionally, we investigated the difference of repeatability with different body positions. First, we found high short-term TRT reliability for KCG metrics derived from SCG and BCG recordings. Exceptions to this finding were limited to metrics computed in left lateral decubitus position where the TRT reliability was moderate-to-high. Second, we found low-to-moderate long-term TRT reliability for KCG metrics as expected and confirmed by blood pressure measurements.
