The Marrakesh Treaty is an international agreement whose purpose is to facilitate access to published works for people with visual disabilities or print difficulties. In the particular case of Ecuador, the commitments were officially ratified since 2016. This fact was considered a significant event that began a renewed approach to Intellectual Property in the country. The objective of the research was to propose a strategic plan to facilitate access to works in accessible formats in Manabi public libraries in accordance with the provisions of the Marrakech Treaty. The study had a qualitative approach, with a descriptive scope. To obtain information, the interview technique was used, which allowed collecting statements from librarians, with the purpose of determining the degree of adherence to the provisions of the Marrakech Treaty in the public libraries subject to analysis. The results showed that access to information as an essential human right allows participation and knowledge in society. In this sense, the Marrakesh Treaty seeks to facilitate the accessibility of works in accessible formats for people with visual disabilities. Despite challenges in public libraries in Ecuador, their legal commitment is highlighted and a strategic plan is proposed to promote inclusion and equal access to knowledge for people with visual disabilities., El Tratado de Marrakech es un pacto universal que tiene como propósito facilitar el acceso a las obras publicadas para personas con discapacidad visual o dificultades para acceder a textos impresos. En el caso particular de Ecuador, se ratificaron oficialmente los compromisos desde el año 2016. Este hecho fue considerado como un acontecimiento significativo que dio inicio a un enfoque renovado en materia de Propiedad Intelectual en el país. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo proponer un plan estratégico para facilitar el acceso a obras en formatos accesibles en bibliotecas públicas manabitas de acuerdo con lo establecido en el Tratado de Marrakech. El estudio tuvo un enfoque cualitativo, con un alcance descriptivo. Para la obtención de información se utilizó la técnica de entrevista, lo que permitió recopilar declaraciones de los bibliotecarios, con el propósito de determinar el grado de adhesión a las disposiciones del Tratado de Marrakech en las bibliotecas públicas sujetas a análisis. Los resultados evidenciaron que el acceso a la información como derecho humano esencial permite la participación y el conocimiento en la sociedad. En este sentido, el Tratado de Marrakech busca facilitar la accesibilidad de obras en formatos accesibles para personas con discapacidad visual. A pesar de los desafíos en las bibliotecas públicas de Ecuador, se destaca su compromiso legal y se propone un plan estratégico para promover la inclusión y la igualdad de acceso al conocimiento para personas con discapacidad visual.

Traditionally, disaster management has placed a great emphasis on institutional warning systems, and people have been treated as victims rather than active participants. However, with the evolution of communication technology, today, the general public significantly contributes towards performing disaster management tasks challenging traditional hierarchies in information distribution and acquisition. With mobile phones and Social Media (SM) platforms widely being used, people in disaster scenes act as non-technical sensors that provide contextual information in multiple modalities (e.g., text, image, audio and video) through these content-sharing applications. Research has shown that the general public has extensively used SM applications to report injuries or deaths, damage to infrastructure and utilities, caution, evacuation needs and missing or trapped people during disasters. Disaster responders significantly depend on data for their Situation Awareness (SA) or the dynamic understanding of “the big picture” in space and time for decision-making. However, despite the benefits, processing SM data for disaster response brings multiple challenges. Among them, the most significant challenge is that SM data contain rumours, fake information and false information. Thus, responding agencies have concerns regarding utilising SM for disaster response. Therefore, a high volume of important, real-time data that is very useful for disaster responders’ SA gets wasted. In addition to SM, many other data sources produce information during disasters, including CCTV monitoring, emergency call centres, and online news. The data from these sources come in multiple modalities such as text, images, video, audio and meta-data. On July 1936 the Spanish civil war begins, both sides have as the most pressing problems establishing a well-functioning information service. In the case of the Francoists, in addition to the military information, they had the support of various private organizations which, with varying degrees of success, set up different offices to provide as much information and help as possible. This article explores the into-history of what was the most important private information service of the Francoist regime: The SIFNE was set up around the border with France with the support of aristocrats, diplomats, and other personalities, many of them from Catalonia, which was considered a handicap at some point., En julio de 1936 se inicia la Guerra Civil en España y ambos bandos tienen como una gran problema poner en marcha unos sistemas de información que funcionen adecuadamente. En el caso de los sublevados, además de unos incipientes servicios de información militar, contaron con el apoyo de organizaciones privadas, que con diferente éxito, pusieron en marcha oficinas encaminadas a proporcionar toda la información y toda la ayuda posible. Este artículo se adentra en la intrahistoria del que fue el servicio de información privado más importante con que contaron los insurrectos: el Servicio de Información de la Frontera Nordeste de España (SIFNE), que nació en la frontera con Francia y con el apoyo de aristócratas, diplomáticos y otras personalidades, muchas de ellas del ámbito catalán, lo que en algún momento constituyó un hándicap.

Technical advances as well as continuously evolving business demands are reshaping the need for flexible connectivity in industrial control systems. A way to achieve such needs is by using a service-oriented approach, where a connectivity service middleware provides controller as well as protocol-specific interfaces. The Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol is a widely used protocol for device-to-device communication in the Internet of Things (IoT). However it is not commonly integrated in industrial control systems. To address this gap, this paper describes the development and implementation of a prototype of a connectivity service middleware for MQTT within an industrial private control network. The prototype implementation is done in the context of an industrial controller, and used in a simulated modular automation system. Furthermore, various deployment scenarios are evaluated with respect to response time and scalability of the connectivity service.

The Covid-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted libraries around the word. Libraries needed to adapt their praxis in the face of new reality imposed by Covid-19. Information services have been directly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This work presents the results of the research carried out in the sector libraries of the State University of Santa Catarina in relation to the information services offered to students with special educational needs and disabilities. The article aims to assess the degree of satisfaction of students with special educational needs and disabilities during the pandemic period. The methodology adopted is of a basic nature, a quali-qualitative approach, documentary and with the application of a questionnaire with the target audience. As a result of the research, it was observed that sector libraries reduced the supply of information services during the pandemic, as well as little engagement of students with special educational needs and disabilities to the services available., A pandemia do Covid-19 impactou profundamente as bibliotecas ao redor do mundo. As bibliotecas precisaram adaptar suas práxis frente a nova realidade imposta pela pandemia, em que os serviços de informação foram diretamente afetados. Este trabalho apresenta os resultados da pesquisa realizada nas bibliotecas setoriais da Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, em relação aos serviços informacionais oferecidos para os discentes com necessidades educacionais especiais, durante o período pandêmico. O artigo tem por objetivo aferir o grau de satisfação dos discentes com necessidades educacionais especiais em relação aos serviços de informação disponibilizados pelas bibliotecas setoriais durante o Covid-19. A metodologia adotada é de natureza básica, abordagem quali-qualitativa, documental e com aplicação de um questionário junto ao público-alvo. Como resultado da pesquisa, observou-se que as bibliotecas setoriais reduziram a oferta de serviços de informação durante a pandemia, bem como percebeu-se pouco engajamento dos discentes com necessidades educacionais especiais aos serviços disponibilizados.

This article shares the experiences of the Law Library of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) and other law libraries in response to COVID-19 since the beginning of March 2020. Information services are described, in digital and in-person modality, offered daily during the health crisis. At the same time, the challenges and opportunities that the pandemic has posed to fulfill the primary responsibility of libraries, which is to satisfy the information needs of users, are highlighted., Este artículo comparte las experiencias de la Biblioteca de Derecho de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR) y de otras bibliotecas jurídicas en respuesta al COVID-19 desde principios de marzo de 2020. Se describen los servicios de información, en modalidad digital y presencial, ofrecidos diariamente durante la crisis de salud. A su vez, se destacan los desafíos y oportunidades que la pandemia ha planteado para cumplir con la responsabilidad primordial de las bibliotecas, que es satisfacer las necesidades de información de los usuarios.

In the contention of the current industrial landscape, an increasing number of manufacturing firms are experimenting with the transition from product-centric offerings to service-based value concepts and product-service bundles as high-value integrated customer solutions to increase their revenues and build sustainable competitive advantages; a phenomenon known as the “servitization” of manufacturing. Nowadays, consistently with the Industry 4.0 paradigm, these companies have therefore started a process of integrating their traditional value offerings with digital services. This recent strategy is known as “Digital Servitization” and consists of developing new services and/or improving existing ones through digital technologies. However, this transformation is challenging, and companies often struggle to achieve their expectations. Thus, this study aims to shed light on the current state of Digital Servitization strategies in the manufacturing sector based on a survey addressed to the top and middle management. The results obtained by the analysis of the data collected from the survey show an increasing trend towards the adoption of digital technologies for enabling innovation and differentiation in service delivery processes. © 2022, IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

This online complaint or information submission application is a web-based application which is useful to assist employees obtain information online. Currently, the complaint and information submission are still using the old method by asking the question through the relevant employees manually. This way is inefficient in terms of time due to some employees are not always available in place. Therefore, with the development of technology, it encourages the researcher to design web-based application system which is useful for assisting employees to submit complaint and information. This design process using a Navigation Structure, Unified Modeling Language and Forward Chaining method as a data processor. Out of the two technology that have been tested (laptop and smartphone), this application works well on laptop, while on smartphone, the button layout does not appear, as well the display it does not respond horizontally or vertically. This application will be assist the pharmaceutical company employees to submit information and complaints anytime and anywhere easier.

This paper investigate the availability, accessibility of electronic resources and services and the extent to which these resources were being used by staff of Nigerian Defence Academy. The objectives of this paper were to find out types of electronic resources and services available, accessed and utilized by staff of Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna, to find out how users access and utilize these resources, to find out the purpose of accessing and utilizing these available resources, also to find out the problems that hinder these use of these resources. A survey research method was used to conduct this study and the instruments used for gathering data was questionnaires. The population of the study was the academic and no academic staff of the institution. A simple random sampling was used to draw a sample size of 326 from the institution. Responses from the questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistic. The findings showed that the institution had the following e-resources – computers, VCD/DVDs, Internet access, full text articles, online databases, e-journals, e-books, CD-ROMs, and flash drives. They also used the following electronic services; E-mails, online references, electronic alerts. It is therefore recommended that government should provide adequate funds for the provision of electronic resources and services to enhance teaching, learning, research and training.

The use of information resources and services provided in the Library is paramount to undergraduates’ educational activities. However, low use of information resources and services have been presumed among undergraduates hence the study examined the use of information resources and services among undergraduates in Ibadan Library School. The study population consisted of 144 undergraduates in the Ibadan Library School. Total enumeration was used. Questionnaire and interview guide were used for data collection and the data was analysed using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that undergraduates use the library more during examination periods and hardly use the library outside examination periods. Respondents stated that they use the library information resources and services for assignments 95.1%, learning 92.6%, examination purposes 89.3%, class preparations 86.9% and for self-development, 86.1%. Poor Internet connectivity, small reading space, and epileptic power supply were the major challenges encountered in the use of information resources and services, in Ibadan Library School. To further encourage the use of information resources and services among undergraduates, the Library space should be expanded to increase the accommodating capacity of the library. the Library should employ more qualified hands to run shifts and reduce work overload on the few staff present in the library, also the Library should organise seminars and workshops to enlighten the undergraduates of the benefits of using the library information resources and services.

Lay abstractSupporting use of evidence-based practice in public service programs for autistic individuals is critical. The California Autism Professional Training and Information Network (CAPTAIN) brings together best practices from intervention and implementation research to support scale up of autism services. The current study was designed to evaluate the impact of CAPTAIN on provider-level outcomes including attitude toward, knowledge, fidelity, and use of autism EBPs and overall classroom quality. Overall, results indicated variability across measures, with some significant differences between CAPTAIN-trained and non-CAPTAIN-trained providers. These preliminary findings show promise for the efficacy of the CAPTAIN model to increase dissemination and implementation of EBP at the classroom level.

Heterogeneous Information Network (HIN) embedding has been a prevalent approach to learn representations off semantically-rich heterogeneous networks. Most HIN embedding methods exploit meta-paths to retain high-order structures, yet, their performance is conditioned on the quality of the (generated/manually-defined) meta-paths and their suitability for the specific label set. Whereas other methods adjust random walks to harness or skip certain heterogeneous structures (e.g. node type(s)), in doing so, the adjusted random walker may casually omit other node/edge types. Our key insight is with no domain knowledge, the random walker should hold no assumptions about heterogeneous structure (i.e. edge types). Thus, aiming for a flexible and general method, we utilize network schema as a unique blueprint of HIN, and propose SchemaWalk, a random walk to uniformly sample all edge types within the network schema. Moreover, we identify the starvation phenomenon which induces random walkers on HINs to under- or over-sample certain edge types. Accordingly, we design SchemaWalkHO to skip local deficient connectivity to preserve uniform sampling distribution. Finally, we carry out node classification experiments on four real-world HINs, and provide in-depth qualitative analysis. Service-oriented architectures are emerging as a promising solution to deal with the increasing complexity of automotive software systems. In this paper, we conduct a systematic mapping study to investigate the use of service-oriented architecture for the development of automotive software systems. This study aims at providing publication trends, available architectural solutions, core benefits and open challenges in the automotive service-oriented architectures. From an initial set of 341 peer-reviewed publications, we select 28 primary studies, which are classified and analysed using a systematic and comprehensive protocol. Using the extracted data, we provide both quantitative and qualitative analyses using vertical and orthogonal analysis. The results indicate that there has been a significant increase in the number of publications recently, and that the studies focused on defining functionalities and data flows among them. Functional suitability is found to be the most recognised benefit while security, safety and reliability are the most addressed challenges when utilising service-oriented architectures in the automotive domain.

En la BCBI nos enfrentamos a nuevos retos como consecuencia de la pandemia de COVID-19, tras el cambio en la modalidad de estudios de nuestros usuarios; lo que trajo consigo el reto de promover nuestros servicios y recursos de información de una forma atractiva y accesible, ya que no se podía asistir a la unidad de forma presencial. En el caso de la Revista [IN]Genios, se pudo identificar una deficiencia en el uso de las redes sociales por parte de algunas revistas académicas en Latinoamérica, el Caribe y Estados Unidos. Para atender esto, nos enfocamos en crear contenido atractivo tomando en cuenta el tipo de usuario al que está dirigido el recurso de información con fin de difundir los números publicados, promover su uso y alentar a los/las estudiantes a enviar sus artículos y obras de labor creativa para ser publicadas. When developing new products there are a multitude of requirements from different domains to consider making it a multidisciplinary activity. It involves stakeholders from the company and from the broader society. Requirements come from for example the customers, the production facility, suppliers, and governmental agencies placing safety and environmental regulations on the product. To manage all these heterogeneous requirements, a need of formalization and support emerges. The requirements can be managed using IT support. This functionality is often provided in contemporary PLM-systems. In this paper, it is investigated how a large industrial company with in-house design and manufacturing of consumer products formalize the requirements and handles them through the product development stages. The study involves corporate documents and interviewing staff from several departments of the company. Results show that while some aspects such as compliance with health and safety regulations are well supported, others are being addressed differently in each project with little formalization and IT support. This increases the risk of extra iterations in the development process. The paper discusses how to mitigate those risks and highlights some areas of possible improvement of the practices and IT support in product - as well as in production development.

In the contention of the current industrial landscape, an increasing number of manufacturing firms are experimenting with the transition from product-centric offerings to service-based value concepts and product-service bundles as high-value integrated customer solutions to increase their revenues and build sustainable competitive advantages; a phenomenon known as the “servitization” of manufacturing. Nowadays, consistently with the Industry 4.0 paradigm, these companies have therefore started a process of integrating their traditional value offerings with digital services. This recent strategy is known as “Digital Servitization” and consists of developing new services and/or improving existing ones through digital technologies. However, this transformation is challenging, and companies often struggle to achieve their expectations. Thus, this study aims to shed light on the current state of Digital Servitization strategies in the manufacturing sector based on a survey addressed to the top and middle management. The results obtained by the analysis of the data collected from the survey show an increasing trend towards the adoption of digital technologies for enabling innovation and differentiation in service delivery processes. © 2022, IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

This article aims to present the result of a literature review carried out around the terms used to characterize the generations, especially those that are part of the university community, since the focus of this article is to understand the characteristics and behaviors of this group of users in order to understand the real needs of academics regarding the use of information services of University Libraries. The theoretical research used national and international databases in the search for articles without a time interval. The terms found to classify the generations were: Veterans, Digital Natives, Thumb Generation, Millennials, Z, Y and X Generations, Baby Boomers and Alpha Generation. An importante characteristic of university students is that they were born in the world of the web or cyber connected and do not know any other way to carry out their activities and relate other than through connection. Thus, University Libraries need to understand in depth the characteristics, needs and behaviors of these users in order to develop innovative information services that go beyond the needs of the informational desires of this generation.

In einer Umfrage und zwei Workshops hat das Projekt AuROA Erkenntnisse zu den Stakeholdern im geistes- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Publikationsprozess sowie ihren Perspektiven gesammelt. BACKGROUND: Problems continue to exist with the reporting quality and risk of bias in search methods and strategies in systematic reviews and related review types. Peer reviewers who are not familiar with what is required to transparently and fully report a search may not be prepared to review the search components of systematic reviews, nor may they know what is likely to introduce bias into a search. Librarians and information specialists, who have expertise in searching, may offer specialized knowledge that would help improve systematic review search reporting and lessen risk of bias, but they are underutilized as methodological peer reviewers.METHODS: This study will evaluate the effect of adding librarians and information specialists as methodological peer reviewers on the quality of search reporting and risk of bias in systematic review searches. The study will be a pragmatic randomized controlled trial using 150 systematic review manuscripts submitted to BMJ and BMJ Open as the unit of randomization. Manuscripts that report on completed systematic reviews and related review types and have been sent for peer review are eligible. For each manuscript randomized to the intervention, a librarian/information specialist will be invited as an additional peer reviewer using standard practices for each journal. First revision manuscripts will be assessed in duplicate for reporting quality and risk of bias, using adherence to 4 items from PRISMA-S and assessors' judgements on 4 signaling questions from ROBIS Domain 2, respectively. Identifying information from the manuscripts will be removed prior to assessment.DISCUSSION: The primary outcomes for this study are quality of reporting as indicated by differences in the proportion of adequately reported searches in first revision manuscripts between intervention and control groups and risk of bias as indicated by differences in the proportions of first revision manuscripts with high, low, and unclear bias.

The purpose of the study is to know the information search strategies of the students of the engineering area of ​​the University of Nuevo León, as well as their informative behaviors, motivations and desires. A measuring instrument applied randomly in the sample has been used to perform the corresponding validation and analysis, using structural equations using the exploratory factor analysis technique, which allows separating the relationships of the variables for each set of dependent variables, as presented in the model. The data were processed in the statistical packages SPSS and SMART-PLS. The results show an inverse relationship, which indicates that the digital collection is not considered as a means of searching and gathering information; therefore, it does not offer adequate performance, possibly because teachers' recommendations are not oriented towards the use of the digital library., En este artículo se analiza el uso de las bibliotecas, física y digital, por los estudiantes de ingeniería de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, así como sus conductas, motivaciones y deseos informativos. Se utilizó un instrumento de medición aplicado en una muestra de 660 estudiantes, para la validación se empleó un Modelo de Ecuaciones Estructurales mediante la técnica de análisis factorial exploratorio, que permite separar las relaciones de las variables para cada conjunto de variables dependientes, tal y como se presenta en el modelo. Los datos fueron tratados en los paquetes estadísticos SPSS y SMART-PLS. Los resultados mostraron una relación inversa que indica que la colección digital no es considerada una fuente importante para el acopio de información de los estudiantes, lo que indica un bajo aprovechamiento de esos recursos y una falta de promoción por parte de los profesores.

Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) integrate heterogeneous systems and process sensor data using digital services. As the complexity of CPS increases, it becomes more challenging to efficiently formalize the integrated multidomain views with flexible automated verification across the entire lifecycle. This article illustrates a model-based systems engineering tool-chain to support CPS development with an emphasis on automated parameter value selection for co-simulation. First, a domain-specific modeling approach is introduced to support the formalizations of CPS artifacts, development processes, and simulation configurations. The domain-specific models are used as the basis to generate a Web-based process management system for automated parameter value selections, which coordinates Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration services of development information and technical resources (models, data, and tools) in order to support automated co-simulation. The services are deployed by a service orchestrator based on a decision-making algorithm for parameter value selection. Finally, developers make use of the WPMS to implement simulations and to select system parameter values for co-simulation automatically. The approach is illustrated by a case study on auto-braking system development and we evaluate the efficiency of this tool-chain by both qualitative and quantitative methods. Women are increasingly becoming an integral part of the rural economy. Feminization and empowerment in agriculture is taking place while outmigration of males in the rural Bangladesh is visible due to higher off farm income. The objective of this study is to determine the current state of the ICT-based agricultural knowledge transfer of female farmers in Bangladesh involved in agricultural operations. Data were collected through survey method using structured questionnaire from 140 female farmers involved in public ICT service centers of Bangladesh. The questionnaire was administrated face-to-face and collected data were analysed with SPSS version 23.0. The result from the data showed that the variables such as assets, inputs, land, education, extension and financial services, and technology affect farmers’ production and farm income. The gaps like gender parity and small farm holding were found in the study. The research suggests that effective agricultural information dissemination services through ICT tools in farming are essential. Special emphasis should be given to address gender disparity and resolve farm holding problems for ensuring women’s participation in agriculture.

The present study aim is to know the information professionals/library professional’s knowledge sharing behaviours and attitudes among the institutes. This study investigated six countries' library professionals: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The study discussed knowledge sharing behaviour, technological equipment used for knowledge management and disseminating the sources of knowledge; academic social networking sites used for sharing the information and knowledge as well as challenges in knowledge management faced by the librarians examined in detail. The implication of the study highlighted the various areas of knowledge management such as training, budget, lack of staff and reward.

Agriculture play significant role towards sustainability of developing nations’ economy particularly Nigeria by providing abundant raw materials required by the industry, as well as ensures food security and a healthy nation. This study examines the challenges of accessing agricultural information sources and services by farmers in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State. Survey method was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprise of 16066 from which 78 farmers of the study area were selected using stratified random sampling and purposive sampling procedure. From the copies of questionnaires administered only 60 were duly completed and returned. Frequency and percentages were used in analyzing data collected. The findings from the study showed that information needs of farmers among others include application of improve techniques, irrigation management, seeds prices, farm wild fire management and prevention, purchase and use of fertilizer, government blueprint on agriculture, and meteorology information need of farmers in Edu Local Government . The findings further revealed that poor communication system, absence of library and information centre, absence of extension agents, insufficient knowledge on marketing of farm produce , insufficient credit facilities, insufficient information on government policies, insufficient fund were the challenges faced by farmers in accessing agricultural information sources and services. The study recommended among others that central facility providing and disseminating information on agricultural related services should be created in the study area that would be accessible to all farmers in order to meet their information needs. This study was carried out to investigate postgraduate students’ perception, utilization and purposes of using cyberspace information resources and services in five federal universities in southwest Nigeria. The descriptive research design was adopted for this study. The purposive sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 1058 postgraduate students from five federal universities. Instrument for data collection include a well-structured questionnaire. The study witnessed a 95% return rate of the distributed questionnaire. The study used mean score () and Standard Deviation (SD) for data analysis. Results revealed that postgraduate students use cyberspace information resources and services for research purposes. The results also revealed that PG students’ perception of cyberspace information resources and services were positive. Results showed that there is no significant difference in the mean ratings of male and female postgraduate students on the utilization of cyberspace information resources and services for research in federal universities in southwest Nigeria. Also, it was found that there is no significant difference in the mean ratings of male and female PG students on the perception of cyberspace information resources and services used for research in federal universities in southwest Nigeria. Results further revealed that there is no significant difference in the mean ratings of male and female PG students on the purposes of using cyberspace information resources and services in federal universities in Southwest Nigeria. The study recommended that university should consider other means of generating funds as the need for further research increase daily, internet connection be improved and extended without limitation.
