This report describes the solution of a typical solid propellant grain design requirement using the Hewlett-Packard 41C hand held calculator and a program for the solution of Wagon Wheel, Modified Wagon Wheel and Star Grain designs. A grain design for an experimental rocket, PLUME is given. The HP41C program is given in Appendix A. (Author)

The characteristics of auroral particle precipitation as measured during 14 passes by the Lockheed OV1-18 satellite over Alaska have been compared with radar aurora simultaneously detected at 139 and 398 MHz beneath the satellite orbit. The radar aurora were measured using the SRI auroral radar located at Homer in southern Alaska. The satellite measured precipitation of protons with energies above 10 keV and precipitation of electrons with energies above 800 eV. All measurements were made near local midnight while the E-region was in darkness.

A brief description of the six-frequency, narrow beam, steerable radar at Homer, Alaska is given. Results from preliminary data reduction and analysis are discussed. Storm damaged equipment repair and scheduled operations are outlined. The merits of several modes of radar operation are presented. (Author)
