In this paper, based on a descriptive-analytical method, the researchers attempt to explore this matter with the help of Russian authors’ works. The purpose of this study is to examine the role and the degree of importance of Guilan in the travel accounts of Russian travelers who were concerned by the Russian government. Among the results of the study, we can suggest that not only were the reports of Russian travelers handed to the Russian government as some political, geographical and economic analyses from Safavid to Qajar era, but today they are regarded as some treasures representing the culture and geography of this territory.

This paper is a faunistic survey of weevils (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) from the province of Guilan, northern Iran. In total, 32 species belonging to 5 subfamilies and 12 genera were collected and identified., Este trabajo es un estudio faunístico de la fauna de gorgojos (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) de la provincia de Guilán, norte de Irán. Se capturaron e identificaron 32 especies pertenecientes a 5 subfamilias y 12 géneros.

The stigmaeid mites collected from Guilan Province in Northern Iran were investigated. A new species Cheylostigmaeus guilaniensis sp. nov. is described and illustrated. The following five stigmaeid species are new records for the Iranian fauna: Eryngiopus bakeri Gonzalez, 1965; Eustigmaeus ottavii (Berlese, 1910); Ledermuelleriopsis spinosa Wood, 1967; Stigmaeus glypticus Summers, 1962; and Stigmaeus petrophilus Kuznetsov & Petrova, 1979. A tabulated checklist for stigmaeid species recorded from Iran is also provided.
