- Abstract
Background: Positive emotions are the preconditions for the restoration of a healthy balance and well-being in stressed target groups. An art therapy intervention concept focusing on positive emotions was tested in an exploratory study. Objectives: To increase the current and habitual well-being on and after a health promoting day for Waldorf teachers (n=18); determination of active factors of art therapyMethods: Quantitative analysis: current physical and mental well-being was examined by using the complaints list (Beschwerdenliste: B-L) and the current mood scale (aktuelle Stimmungsskala; ASTS) before and after the interventions, habitual well-being by SF-36 one week before and one week after the health promoting day. Qualitative analysis: habitual well-being and active factors were identified by using semi-structured interviews with open key questions (n=4) two and five weeks after the interventions. Results: Quantitative analysis: increase in habitual well-being in seven out of eight scales of the SF-36, current well-being: significant reduction in overall symptoms and a significant increase in positive mood. Quali ta tive analysis: Three general and seven specific active factors of art therapy were generated by a structured content analysis of Mayring. Conclusion: The pilot study shows that a positive focused art therapy intervention concept can be used to promote health and well-being of vulnerable target groups., Hintergrund: Positive Emotionen stellen die Voraussetzung für die Wiederherstellung eines gesunden Gleichgewichts und des Wohlbefindens bei belasteten Zielgruppen dar.

- Abstract
Aging is a complex process that is not well understood but involves finite changes at the genetic and epigenetic level. Physical activity is a well-documented modulator of the physiological process of aging. It has been suggested that the beneficial health effects of regular exercise are at least partly mediated through its effects on telomeres and associated regulatory pathways. Telomeres, the region of repetitive nucleotide sequences functioning as a "cap" at the chromosomal ends, play an important role to protect genomic DNA from degradation. Telomeres of dividing cells progressively shorten with age. Leucocyte telomere length (TL) has been associated with age-related diseases. Epidemiologic evidence indicates a strong relationship between physical activity and TL. In addition, TL has also been shown to predict all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. Experimental studies support a functional link between aerobic exercise and telomere preservation through activation of telomerase, an enzyme that adds nucleotides to the telomeric ends. However, unresolved questions regarding exercise modalities, pathomechanistic aspects and analytical issues limit the interpretability of available data. This review provides an overview about the current knowledge in the area of telomere biology, aging and physical activity. Finally, the capabilities and limitations of available analytical methods are addressed.

- Abstract
Effects of build layout and orientation consisting of (a) height from the build plate (Z-axis), (b) distance between samples, and (c) location in the build plate (X-Y plane) on porosity, NbC fraction, and hardness in electron beam melted (EBM) Alloy 718 were studied. The as-built samples predominantly showed columnar structure with strong Ë001Ë crystallographic orientation parallel to the build direction, as well as NbC and ÎŽ-phase in inter-dendrites and grain boundaries. These microstructural characteristics were correlated with the thermal history, specifically cooling rate, resulted from the build layout and orientation parameters. The hardness and NbC fraction of the samples increased around 6% and 116%, respectively, as the height increased from 2 to 45Â mm. Moreover, by increasing the height, formation of ÎŽ-phase was also enhanced associated with lower cooling rate in the samples built with a greater distance from the build plate. However, the porosity fraction was unaffected. Increasing the sample gap from 2 to 10Â mm did not change the NbC fraction and hardness; however, the porosity fraction increased by 94%. The sample location in the build chamber influenced the porosity fraction, particularly in interior and exterior areas of the build plate.
The hardness and NbC fraction were not dependent on the sample location in the build chamber. © 2018, The Author(s)., First Online: 17 September 2018

- Abstract
Understanding the effect of powder feedstock alterations during multicycle additive manufacturing on the quality of built components is crucial to meet the requirements on critical parts for aerospace engine applications. In this study, powder recycling of Alloy 718 during electron beam melting was studied to understand its influence on fracture behavior of Charpy impact test bars. High resolution scanning electron microscopy was employed for fracture surface analysis on test bars produced from virgin and recycled powder. For all investigated samples, an intergranular type of fracture, initiated by non-metallic phases and bonding defects, was typically observed in the regions close to or within the contour zone. The fracture mode in the bulk of the samples was mainly moderately ductile dimple fracture. The results show a clear correlation between powder degradation during multi-cycle powder reuse and the amount of damage relevant defects observed on the fracture surfaces. In particular, samples produced from recycled powder show a significant amount of aluminum-rich oxide defects, originating from aluminum-rich oxide particulates on the surface of the recycled powder. © 2018 H. - Abstract
An overview is presented of the strengths and limitations of simulation learning, with a particular focus on simulation learning in medicine and health care. We present what simulation learning is about and what the main components of simulations are. The most important theoretical approaches are reviewed which were developed in order to explain why simulation learning is effective. The most prominent best-practice examples of simulation learning applications are presented, and a short overview on research findings concerning simulation learning is given.
